Book three

Mistakes: again to many to count
Characters: the MC is at times a bit of a pervy creep which doesn't fit his overall character.
Plot: oh my god, so so many problems with this. First the MC is perving out to naked females in an area that is basically described as a slaughterhouse. Then he takes time to have sex with an npc that he has known for less than 48 hours, while supposedly being in a rush to beat an enemy army through a mountain pass.
The number of times he is supposed to be out of food or health potions only to pull more out of thin air to give to npcs, I again lost count of. His harem slash bodyguards also doesn't come off as believable.
Again the overall story is all that saves the book from getting one star as it is rather good.
If the mistakes are cleaned up and the MC's actions changed to fit the situation instead of being all horny teen this would easily be one of the best series out there. As it is, an honest review gets this book a 4/10 score.

4 Save Them Not Kill Them Stars

You’re Going Down is the third novel in the LitRPG/GameLit series The World by Jason Cheek.

Okay so.... zombies. Fast as crack zombies, rotting and biting and generally being creepy and frightening beyond measure. While kicking some goblin behind left and right, of course.

How Star keeps getting into these crazy ‘secret’ quests and companion after companion after companion mount is beyond me. He has a ridiculous amount of luck it would seem.

Given that the mention of the Syndicate takes up prevalence for at least half of the synopsis for the book I was expecting them to stage an all out attack on Star or something. However, they stupidly start attacking DelonShire and then fall to the Northern Invasion Force for their stupidity. Which all happens in what, the last 25%? They are truly only an annoying and imbecilic force of bullies. If they had been even vaguely attempting to truly play the game they would be having a more enjoyable game play themselves. But nah dumb assess pit themselves against everyone in the DelonShire region? Wow.

I’m excited to actually get to be a part of the other original guild members Nightmare quests. At least in Dominic’s case, in the next book. I wonder how Star will fare against the Syndicate force native to that region?

Also, what is up with Star’s NPC harem? Like for real? I mean it doesn’t seem like he’s actively trying to collect them. But is the guy dumb enough not to see where this is going?

Biggest cons in this book, for me involve the increasing amount of basic grammar or spelling errors. Or fact errors. Like immediately following Nesya leveling to 23, Star starts explaining his distributing points for her reaching level 27? Or after he’s spent half his saved attribute points, he miraculously has the same amount 30 minutes later to allocate without even leveling? Or (honestly the more frustrating for me) when a form of ‘exhaustion’ is used three times in the same four sentence paragraph. Please for the love of all that is holy, use some synonyms. Also, a ridiculous amount of repetition occurred. Actual word for word, verbatim diatribes within a page of each other. Please. Stop.

And again some/most of the NPC or players being annoyingly antagonistic at the most redonculus times. Like in the middle of sneak attacks, through an enemy stronghold, that could easily overpower your small group of four. You get pissy because another members attack gets you covered in zombie blood? Dumb. Or while spying on an enemies stronghold you start asking stupid questions for some vague curiosity, even though being distracted could get your whole party killed? There are loads more and they are all equally frustrating.

Awesome Nerdy Geeky litrpg Gamelit Series

This was a very entertaining fast paced action pack story of a professional gamer/guild master first week of his nightmare start in The World mmorpg.
I loved most of this story. I disagree with some other reviewers on tits. Guys are always fascinated with them, even 90 year old ones... Heck even on mummies.
The sex in this story seamed forced, though it was understandable. I hope this series isn't going harem.

Can’t wait for the next book.

Things really seem to be ramping up. Lots of action going on. (Surprisingly there wasn’t as much crafting as I was expecting to be happening.) Still it was entertaining nonetheless. It’s interesting for me trying to figure out the MC’s thought processes. He’s definitely a pretty unique person. I’m a very analytical person by nature, so I lean towards understanding that portion of his thinking going along. I appreciate the internal thoughts that we get to “hear”. It feels like the story time taken up was a bit longer than “actual” time described what had passed. But at the same time the, (probably just because I never want stories to end), the book itself felt a bit short. Actually it feels like I just watched an episode of an hr long tv show wanting more. Can’t wait until the next one.

An excellent conclusion!

The third book, Jason slogs through it all!
I followed the author and will read his other books. Again still reeling from nightmare mode Jason continues fight after fight. Reminds me how much I enjoyed WOW, when it first came out!

Amazing!

I thought all the battle and game description would be boring, instead it was like going on a roller coaster ride! Way fun so much so that I had to read the series straight thru. I hope a bunch more is being written!

Hurry up with book 4

Amazing. Simply amazing. I read all 3 books in 2 work days. I simply could not put them down.

I was worried the frantic pace would overwhelm me, but it was just right.

Excellent

As the genre has percolated and grown, I've read quite alot of litrpg lately. Some are good, some are not. This one is excellent. Jason Cheek, everything you are doing... keep doing it.
Hoping this series goes for many books to come.

More of what was great about the first two.

Challenge and reward. Great relationships with well fleshed-out characters. Good world building with elements of rpg, strategy, and starting into base building. INCONCEIVABLE! I love it all. The a$# kicking is pretty ok too, lol. Jason tells a good story, I can't wait for it to continue.

It just gets better.....

Okay for someone with an anxiety disorder like me this one got intense...no really...I literally took a pill and a 10 min break (meds works that fast) mid battle cause the sh*t got THAT crazy! I was a bit over stimulated freaking out at the insanity. So yeah I just power read the first 3 books with no sleep and barely any brakes much like Jason is doing in The World. Id only ment to read a little bit but it's now 111:21am and I'm still awake from yesterday I could not stop reading. Now I'm Gonna catch a few zzz's and start right back in with book 4!
I know I am not really reviewing here but I don't want to do spoilers yet it deserves 5 stars so I hope your loving the series too.

Holy shiz!!!!

These books just keep getting better and better. The imagery is spectacular, like im in the book. If they actually come out with FIVR technology, Cheek needs to be a part of writing the game.

Good read

Good read kept me up late some nights but the constant action I can get into easy. Though I could have done without the constant reiterating of the characters equipment stats etc. maybe just changes would be good after saying at the beginning.

Loved this series

This is a great series and I flew through them. It is fast passed and keeps me interested the entire time. The only 2 reasons for 4 stars is because this book had several typos that made things confusing. The use of the word sex instead of the body part he was speacking about. When useing so much profanity during the story and then not saying vagina, cock, labia, clit, or the names of the body parts is just a let down.

Great read!

Awesome series so far (the world 1-3) this third book the adventure really comes into its own with the first dungeon down our intrepid adventure beginning to complete his nightmare start. The whole series really kicks it into high gear with great adventure, crunchy loot, and some epic battles in both skirmish form and all out war!

Can’t wait for the next!

Better than book 2

Ok I thought that the book was much better than the last one cause it moved the series along. The MC started to move the quest along and develop the story.

Really good read

Great book really intense, my only thing was the Mc had way to much luck. I know he was good at RTS games and everything but he should have took a L once or twice. But other than that I loved your book.

A veritable "Spectacular Spectacula"

Kindle Unlimited. Thank you!

Just plain fun. My goodness! This had so much going on that it was grand finale worthy. And it's only Book #3 and 6 days into the game. The strategies play out and guild relationships are solidified. Startum completes his nightmare quest and more. Best of all, the nefarious Syndicate gets an a** whooping in multiple ways. Those liberated lady warriors are going to be so much fun to follow. Evidently, half-elves aren't shy with their affections.😻😼😽. Loved the shtick about just happening to have a perfectly placed castle on hand. The hidden NPC abilities within the game seems like a natural AI evolution. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I suspect all the 'Hail Mary' battle endings are due to the extreme nature of the nightmare start. Only exceptional players stand a chance at completing their quests and the wins really go down to the wire?

By the time I read this, the grammar and spelling oops weren't bad at all. It's not an editing issue so much as proofreading? Maybe a few readers that are good at spotting errors will volunteer to help out?

It could just be me, but some of the reviews seem hyper critical and unnecessarily harsh. You can really ruin things for an Indie author with carelessly worded criticism. Plagiarism happens, but I've seen some obvious examples disappear. Let the aggrieved authors deal with it. Plagiarism flags in 1 and 2 star reviews might well be troll fests. Indie dollars, especially KU pool dollars, are zealously contested by some?

Incest? Pedophilia? Come on! There's none of that in this series up to this point. Neither is the MC misogynistic scum. As I've stated previously, the sex is adult level rom-com with a burlesque quality. It's pretty tame compared to what's being written throughout a number of genres.

I like this series.

I really like this series, however I can only give four stars, because of all the typos, grammatical errors, and poor word choices. You really need to hire some better proofreaders.
