As a long time fan of Carrie Ann Ryan and the Redwood Pack, I have been patiently waiting for North to get his story.
I knew to expect the secrets that both North and Lexi had and I knew to expect them to be very important to the Jamenson Family and their war against the Centrals. What I didn't expect was to be thrown around emotionally a time or two while reading this story.
They have so many trials to overcome, it was like as they climbed one mountain another was waiting for them. Which as a long time fan of the Redwoods made this story an emotional one. That and knowing that this is the second to last book in the series I am not going to lie, a few chapters to the end I was crying.
I am also VERY VERY happy to see a few characters gets whats been coming to them for far to long!
I have to say that I am so happy with Carrie Ann's ever growing talent and how deep she has taken each book in the Redwood series. I can definitely tell that with each new book in this series that she knows she is getting closer to the end and that she is putting more and more of herself into each one to make sure that her fans know that this might be the end of this series but she wont let us ever forget it.
I give Hidden Destiny 5 out of 5 stars!
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
As the series continues, North and Lexi's story takes us closer to the conclusion of the Redwoods and the Centrals. It has enough suspense, romance and entertaining family to get you to turn each page. I enjoyed reading it and cant wait for Cailin and Logan's story
Favorite Quote/Line: “I’d rather be broken in a million pieces than be the one to hurt you. I’d rather fall and bruise, break… bleed… than make you succumb to the pain that follows me. I would never do that to you. I don’t want you to fall for me. I couldn’t bear it.” - Lexi
“Drop it, okay? I’ll watch them tear into you and hopefully save you. Then I’ll stand back and let you raise your son and I’ll be the best uncle I can be. If the worst happens?” He growled. “If the worst happens, then I’ll die inside, but Parker won’t be alone.” - Logan
At first when I started reading this series I did really like the books... But if you read the books one after another you notice that all the relationships are the freaking same! It's actually getting annoying. Ok I understand yes they are "potential"mates but as soon as they find one they like like yep! I love her/him.... There is no getting to know each other there is no inner fight it is just yep ok let's do this! There is no way they would fall for their very first potential mate every time that's just unrealistic. So yes, every relationship is the same and now I'm starting to get really bored and I hate that! Even all their inner thoughts are the same and the characters are the same too. If someone is shy they are she the whole time...not in the beginning and then all of a sudden they aren't when they find their mate... No! Ahhh so aggravating...... Like the girls are all the same... They are like omg I just can't get enough of him.... And the guys are like... Yeah baby you know you want this. But honestly the author should really try actually coming up with a character who is different! I mean yes the girls stories are different but personalities and reactions and how they speak everything is the same every words they use... But yeah even when Lexi hung out with the other girls it's like everyone hated her and apparently she was all nervous and whatever yet... She giggled and talked about her sex like and all that? No.... Anywho yeah getting tired of her writing.... Good story line just sucky characters.
For those of you who have been waiting for this one it is definitely well worth the wait it was. For those of you who love this pack this one is definitely as delicious and scrumptious as the rest. I also think each one gets better and better especially the more you get to know the characters from previous novels and each featured character is exceptional the in depth you learn about them. It is also intriguing and exciting how you are then privy to the mating of the intended and the love that evolves in each relationship. Touch bases once again with the ones you have come to know and see how they are doing and coming along. In this novel it is North who is going to have his turn-his mate to share that part of himself with that no one else will share. I personally have really liked this brother even though he is quieter then the rest and the doc I just knew he was going to be well worth the wait for his intended would be just as special. Having met Lexi in a previous one with her son and brother when helping his brother. Lexi is latent and has been accepted into the pack but has everyone accepted her? The battle still continues and it gets really down and dirty in here and some of the issues come to a head also. Lexi has a secret and has to come clean but fears not so much for herself but the results for her son and brother. When that secret is revealed I am overjoyed that she is not quite right after all and she has a fighting chance for a true mate yahooo it is of course North but not until the trash is taken out. So exceptional the romance and love that develops written by a author that has now quite certainly a style all her own and does it well. The heat and intensity is phenomenal and that is one of the reasons keep coming back for more of her novels. In a series it must be kept fresh even if part of a series, done in such a way that keeps me the reader hooked line and sunk gasping for more when finished. Trying to catch your breath from the danger that is found in this one also part of the allure. With a heart of gold North deserves the best and that is just what he gets. A job well done with how Corbin gets his just desserts but does not mean that though that evil will not still lurk around. The pack also gets help from a surprise source in my way of thinking. Delightful satisfaction you receive when North finally gets to take that bite, yum he gets his destiny, their forever. Received a arc for a honest review.
I loved North and Lexi and their story was compelling with its twists and turns.
However, I'm starting to get a little irritated with these books. I love the world created, the characters, and the stories, but I'm losing patience with the lack of editing. There are so many mistakes. Words missed out, the wrong word used, places where part of the sentence has obviously been changed but the remainder of the sentence no longer matches up. These books are £4.99 (at this time). For that price, I expect a more polished, professional book. Some mistakes will always get through, but there are far too many in these books and many of them could have been caught with a simple read-through.
It's infuriating because the books are so good but the lack of editing is letting them down. I'll continue on to see how the story ends, but I can't see me buying any more of this author's books unless either the price comes down or the books get run through an editor. I wouldn't mind paying £4.99 for this author's books if they were properly edited, but not the way they are now.
While late to the game, I'm glad I took the time to read the story of the Redwoods once I started reading the Talons and their stories. To see how the parents of those children, who are now grown, came to be. Getting glimpses of the characters of children is also pretty cool as well
North and Lexi, oh, they hurt and the hurt rolled off the pages into your heart. This was one seemed to be the most emotional ride, and that says a lot, because they all had an emotional journey. This is what is there but cannot be, not because of the characters, but fates.
But Fate can work for or against you, and the theory stands, for every action of fate, you get your equal and opposite reaction. Luckily for us, the bad comes first to give us the good after. Lexi and North are pretty fabulous and I'm so glad I took the time to get to know them!
I have been waiting and waiting for North to get his HEA and was super excited for this release. Carrie Ann did not disappoint me. I love North. He is hot, sweet, powerful, loyal, pretty alpha and a doctor to boot. He also is shrouded in darkness over a secret he keeps from everyone, including his twin. Lexi is strong, an amazing mother, and holds her own dark secrets. Secrets that keep her from her from her true mate. I love how strong and loyal both North and Lexi are and how they except each other for who they are even when they see their darkness and their pasts. I will say I did nto see the ending coming. Oh my Carrie Ann sure knows how to keep me on my toes. I can not wait for the next book. If my guess is correct, it will feature Lexi's super yummy brother.
This is the first time I've ever read a book by Carrie Ann Ryan. I'm glad I did. I really liked the way she writes. If found the characters to be enjoyable. They drew me into the story and kept me there. I think because I didn't start with book one I was a little lost but and I kept going I forgot about there being other books in the series. A very good read.
Once again Carrie has out done her self!!! I wish that there was a little bit more between the climax and when the end of North and Lexi's story but I'm sure we will see more of them soon. I can't wait for the last book!!!!!
Enough misery and violence in the real world, don’t need it in my relaxing reading time. Cannot be read as a stand-alone, too many characters and events. So sick of Caym the demon. He has been around too long. I was an avid fan of this author but haven’t picked up a book in this series for years as it was going in a direction that was getting too depressing and negative. The Redwoods seem to be always losing, getting maimed and horrendously hurt, making me feel depressed. Decided to read the next volume and came away feeling really bad. Yes Corbin finally gets sorted but at a terrible cost to North. Much happier books out there for me to read with drama but without the depressing happenings.
http://www.unbrindelecture.com/2020/0...
Lexi Anderson is a mother, a sister and a latent wolf. She is also a new member of the Redwood pack, but some are not all that pleased with her presence. North is Lexi's potential mate, she wants him but she knows deep down it wouldn't be happening because she has secrets that she keeps close to heart. North Jamenson's wolf is always close to surface. He is the quiet one. Over the last few years, he has watched every one of his brothers find their mates and happiness, and starting families. He wants that, and he knows he could have that with Lexi. Tomorrow North would take the next steps. He just hoped to hell that Lexi wanted to take them with him. He is going to claim his family. "My wolf feels you, Lexi. You know I do too. Fate fucked up before, but it isn't fucking up now. You're my mate." "No, North. You know that can't happen." "Yes. It can, and it will. I'll kill him, Lexi. He deserves to die for countless crimes, but I'd kill him just to have you. I'm selfish. I want you in my life. I know we have so much to learn about each other, but I'm not going to wait to have you by my side. We'll learn each other and find a way to have our own mating...even without the bond for now." North and Lexi are getting to know each other and building their future together. North is also trying to help Lexi find and bring out her wolf, if they can. "That means your wolf is there, baby. She's there." He inhaled her scent and rocked against her. "You smell so fucking good, my Lexi. I want to bend you over the bed, tuck your panties out of the way, and fuck you hard while you wear these high heels." The war is escalating but the Jamenson family and their pack are preparing. "We're ready for them," Edward growled, and the others in the room growled with him. They were family. They were Jamensons. They would not fail. He squeezed Lexi tight. No, they wouldn't fail. Now when they had so much to fight for.
"I'm an idiot. Aren't I?" "Yes, but I love you anyway." He grinned, and she punched him. "I love you too, you butt." North rolled his eyes. "Nice, I got all romantic and heartwarming, and you call me a butt. I can see out future together is going to be rife with love." "You better believe it."
"This is it, North Jamenson. This is out destiny. Our forever." He smiled down at her. "You're my forever. You're my everything." As he was to her. For eternity.
I was completely blown away with Hidden Destiny, so did not see that coming. I love that Carrie Ann Ryan can keep the surprises coming and the suspense. Hidden Destiny was a fan-freakin-tastic book. I enjoyed reading it from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down. It was filled with love, support, family, caring, action, hot sex, and great freaking humor. I am so looking forward to Logan and Cailin's book. Two such strong mates. Both are hiding things. Unable to bond fully, Lexi knows that North is her true mate, but her wolf is laten, has never emerged. North knows that she is his mate, but cannot fully bond to her without her wolf. Evil threatens. Will they survive? Do they have a future? I enjoyed this read.
I really enjoyed this story. each book in this story takes us closer to the conclusion of the Redwoods and the centrals. the talons are also making their appearances. can't wait to see how it all ends. north and lexis kept me reading and I adored little parker.
I liked North and Lexi and of course Parker and Logan. I just loved the bit in the woods after the attempted coup. North’s reaction to his parents....very funny. He couldn’t run away fast enough....lol
First book I picked up in the Redwood series. While it can be read as stand alone, it is better to read from the beginning. Tons of characters and references to their stories that add to the overall story arc of Caym, the Centrals and the Redwood war.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!! North and Lexi’s story is quiet and tender, with just the right amount of angst. North’s protective instincts and Lexi’s resilience made them a perfect match. Their story unfolds with care, blending healing, trust, and the complexities of forming a new family.
Another sizzling brother gets a mate & we still fight the demon. North wins but at a price. Now mated & having a son life changes but we still battle the evil. Will there ever be an end.
This book had a great storyline. With a complicated situation that seems useless to solve. Luckily this couple are so determined. A fantastic performance from Gregory.
