Fighting Fate

Rate this book
With her blue-black hair and striking green eyes, Cailin Jamenson is the epitome of beauty and the exemplar of strength. She has fought the enforced boundaries of being the lone Jamenson daughter and Redwood Pack princess, but it is the potential future with the dark wolf in her path that threatens everything she thought she desired.
Logan Anderson’s own darkness provided the reasoning for his abandonment of his former Pack, the Talons. Now, newly accepted into the Redwood Pack, this jade-eyed wolf and all she represents could be his own undoing.
In this final installment of the Redwood Pack, unimaginable tragedy strikes, and the two wolves who have fought the longest for their independence now face the uncertainty of fate and the epic battle that could end the war… and their lives.

How am I supposed to write this review, it’s like saying goodbye all over again to my beloved Redwoods, the first time being when I actually read Fighting Fate. So with tissues ready I will do my best to give this review my all.

Cailin was an ever present character throughout every novel and novella in this series. Always there fighting alongside each of her brothers with a fierce passion for her family and her pack. Never knowing where her duties lay within the pack, she has no real “gifts” like her brothers; she not only fights for a place to fit in but for her freedom from fate.

Logan has finally found a home, not one that he wants but one that makes his sister and nephew happy and that’s all he has ever wanted until he laid eyes on the Redwood Princess. Now with a renewed passion for life he is willing to lay his own down to save his new pack.

Sadly, I knew that there was going to be a devastating twist to this story with the end of this series coming near, I was prepared for it. It was needed in order for the Jamenson’s to fight till the death but even with knowing it was coming I was shaking with dread as I read word after word that broke my heart.

Each book in this series lead us closer and closer to the end and each Jamenson was instrumental in the end of the “big bad” but it’s Cailin and Logan who fulfill the prophecy and deliver the final blow and as always they did it in Jamenson fashion. With passion and love they face death and fate alongside their Pack. And I for one could not be happier with the ending.

Again I thought I was prepared for this book but I was nowhere near ready for it all to end but it did and through my tears, I couldn't help but finally breathe a sigh of relief that even though my beloved Redwoods were all done telling their stories, they could finally live in a peace they hadn't known for many years. And that made it all worth it.

To my beloved Carrie Ann, this may be the end (for now) of the family that rocketed your career but you have to know that as a reader I am so happy that throughout this series I was able to see you grow as a writer and you did so with beauty and grace. Thank you for sharing your Redwoods with us and allowing me to be a part of each and every book.

*I was gifted a ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review

“They were healed. They were whole. They were Redwood Pack”

Fighting Fate (Redwood Pack) Carrie Ann Ryan

What can I say, “All good things come to an end.” I should have known Carrie Ann had something spectacular up her sleeve. I’ve learned to expect the unexpected. Normally I would give a little detail about the reads I review. But honestly I can’t with Fighting Fate. I just can’t.
Seriously the first two chapters literally punched me in my face, knocked me on my ass, and stole my breath away and I’m numb just plain numb. We all knew this was going to be Cailin and Logan’s story. From the first time they met there was an instant attraction. But Cailin being the youngest sister and the Princess of the Redwood Pack was not going to allow anything to get in her way to prove her worth. It took a devastating tragedy to make her start to realize priorities in life.
They’ve always had the ability to send Caym back but just didn’t know it. Not until Emeline found the possible answer/solution. The war was coming and they all knew it they just didn’t know how to stop Caym. Emeline explained it would take life and royal blood. Cailin the Redwood Princess, the sole daughter of seven children, her blood was important. Logan is the sole son of the Royal line that dates back to the original wolf. He is an Anderson wolf. To rid themselves of the demon they needed to show the demon life (not death). To send him back to hell they needed to create a binding with their blood. An Actual Blood Sacrifice. The Blood of a dark wolf of the moon goddess (Logan) and the princess (Cailin) of the strongest of the Pack, together. This would open the portal to send him back to hell, and (here’s a teaser but can’t help it) the wonder of the life within Cailin would send him back. I really can’t say anything else.
Just know from chapter one the things that occur and the things revealed are riveting. Your emotions will be stretched to their limits. You won’t be able to put this read down until you’ve finished it. The ending was perfect. When I said all good things come to an end, I actually meant to make room for the new, for the future. This may have ended the Redwood Packs saga, but I don’t think it’s over. Not completely. I have a feeling they will be popping up in her next series. So it looks like 2015 is going to be another exciting year for our loveable shifters.
Carrie Ann, absolutely magnificent. There were some really tough parts but all in all this was a great way to end a great series. 5* lady.

The much anticipated conclusion to the Redwood series by Carrie Ann Ryan. In cases like this I hate it when I'm right, but really their was really no other way this continual story of the War against Central Pack could have gone. **NO SPOILERS** I promise. I started this book crying and I ended this book crying, but damn it was good. All through out the series The Central Pack has been poisoned by the demon Caym and now with him the Alpha of the pack the Redwood Pack knows it's only a matter of time before he strikes.

Tragedy strikes during a joyous occasion. Cailin is in despair and the only person she can think to go to for comfort is the one person she has been avoiding since he first came into the pack, Logan. Cailin has dealt with being the Jameson Princess all her life and as the youngest is overly protected by her brothers. She has stayed away from Logan because even though she is a dominate wolf his is stronger and she will not stand for be forced into a submissive role. She fears she will viewed as a weak wolf and she despises that, even though it is evident with her mother and her sisters-in-law that mating is a partnership. Logan has avoided Cailin as well but for his own reasons. Logan has a darkness about him and is scared that it will scare Cailin away. His wolf is closer to the surface then even North's wolf and in power he falls in third after Kade and North.

Cailin and Logan finally give in to the pull of the mating with some pretty hot scenes. Logan almost blows it with Cailin and results in get the snot beat out of him by Cailin's brothers. Caym strikes yet again kidnapping them soon after the mating bond is complete. He reveals something profound and then like every typical super villain reveals his plan and then tries to kill them, only to have them barely escape with their lives. They are able to get back to the pack and formulate a plan but will that be enough to defeat Caym and his tainted pack of wolves.

Fighting Fate is the last book for the Redwood Pack at least for this story arc, their are two novellas to follow. The Talon Pack are getting their own series in 2015 and we will see more of the Redwood Pack there so it's not going to be the end entirely

I went into Fighting Fate with mixed emotions. On one hand I couldn't wait to start and was so looking forward to at last reading Cailin and Logan's story but this was overshadowed by the fact that this is the final instalment in the Redwood Pack series and I didn't want the story to end.....

Carrie didn't disappoint and she finished the series with a bang.... Fighting Fate is a fantastic read and an excellent way to say goodbye to this generation of Jamensons.

Cailin & Logan have been dancing round each other, doing everything they could to avoid facing the obvious attraction between them... Will they finally deal with their feelings and the connection that they seem to have?!
The war that has been raging around the Redwoods is nearing it's climax and everyone knows it - they just don't know what to expect or how things are gonna turn out!!!

So much to deal with and so little time to prepare....

One of the main things I loved about the book was the continued focus on the Jamensons as a family as well as pack... We are reminded again of how important they are to each other and how they would do all and anything they had to for each other!!!

Action, drama, tension, surprises, heat & passion, pain & heartbreak, it's all packed into this final book and makes for a heart-racing (jeez, at times a nigh on heart-stopping!!) ride!

Grab yourself a copy of Fighting Fate, take yourself off somewhere quiet - 'cos you won't want to be disturbed once you start reading - and lose yourself in the final instalment of the Redwood Pack's story!!

** A word of warning before you do start reading ~ you're gonna need tissues... lots & lots of tissues - and maybe take the next day off work to avoid people seeing your big red puffy eyes...or you could wear some dark glasses - just sayin'!! ;)

This is one of the best ones yet but I am sure for the author one of the most emotional one yet. In order to have produced one such as this novel with the events that are contained within it was without a doubt visible to me the reader that she has poured her blood, sweat and tears in this to make it the grand reading that it is. I so loved to finally see the path Cailin will finally take. Already if you have read any before this you see what kind of compassion she has but that also she is a alpha female princess for sure. Watching each one of her siblings find their mates that desire for hers will be her biggest but not largest battle in this novel. As mentioned before she has poured it all in this one. You will really see what everyone is made of and also finally see the mating dance for Cailin and Logan. Since this novel has alot of action and events that must be read for yourself so you too can experience the love, sweat and tears that was breathed into this novel but be forewarned box of tissues would be good to have at hand with plenty of cool water. You will feel the heat at times roll off the pages. Also maybe warm up your hands for all the gripping you will do with the events that occur within. As I turned page after page at times breathless with awe and sighing with satisfaction. I also know for a fact I would not of missed this one for anything it is that darn good with the perfect finale. But do not think for a minute though that the perfect is not fought with blood to get to that point because they are at time of war when you enter in to see what else fate has in store for the Redwood Pack with Cailin and Logan in the lead with this one. Received a arc for a honest review.

so this is like a collective review for the full series. There are too many complications too many twists too many turns and the series overall leaves you with mixed emotions. At one point i would have probably thought that maybe this series did not need so many stories. but then as you read along you realise that every story has a continuum that is maintained it leaves at a certain point and then picks up at a certain point.

every story is laced with some dark tragedy or some dark emotion. ure projecting and alpha pack which is all powerful and then there is this evil force which is superior to that power which in itself lends to a continuum. at one . I want to just kill Caym myself if I had the dark magic in me coz he only brought dark disruption which makes you wanna commit bloody murder.that is one bloody dark villain.

adam, north, pat, Edward these sacrifices were so so sad. Finn was crazy dark. I can't imagine reading stories where babies are hurt.its gut wrenching.

why couldn't they have found elimen earlier? that's one loop I don't understand and the last book was kinds rushed. even Logan to be soooooooo romantic was weird but it was nice weird ;)

overall I felt turmoil in me with every book. somewhere I thought the plot could have been tighter and the characters more robust and detailed but over all I wasn't disappointed. I liked all the books so overall I liked the series but I'm not sure if I loved it.

it's dark and its murky but it's not bad.
thank you ms fisher. I could read them one after the other coz the continuum you maintained made me go back and finish it as a series.

This is the last book in what has truly been a fabulous series. I fell in love with the Jameson's from book one, I've followed their lives, their trials and tribulations, their joys and their sorrows. Carrie-Ann made them characters that you could empathize with, you willed them on when things were so bad you thought they'd never get up again. You rejoiced when they found their mates and reveled in their love for each other. In the beginning I wanted to get to the end of the story so I could enjoy the Jameson's winning the battle, but I've come to realize it wasn't about the end, it was about the journey getting there. This was a fitting end to the Redwoods, they again have to deal with tragedy that unequal's anything they've been through previously. But as with everything else they deal with it together. Cailin and Logan fit so well together. Logan isn't a wolf that backs down, not even against over protective brothers, and Cailin has the strength to match him as an equal. He sees Cailin in a way that no one else ever has, he understands her and she accepts him just the way he is and when they do get together it's explosive. This is one series that will stay with me forever, I have enjoyed every angst riddled moment, the love, the laughter, the tears and every emotion in between. I shall miss the Jameson's and I can't believe I won't be sitting around waiting for the next installment, they've become a part of my life. I will keep revisiting them time and time again and wait impatiently for 2015 when we get the spin off series with the Talon pack.

REVIEW:
We finally get the Princess of the Redwood Pack’s story. Cailin has been a long time favorite of mine. Maybe because she is standoffish, maybe because she is tough, or maybe it is because what Fate has in store for her might just save them all. Only problem is that Cailin is stubborn, tough, and standoffish that she just might lose out on what is most important.

This was really good way to end the Redwood Pack series, although it looks like there might be a novella here an there still to come. If you have not read any of the Redwood Pack books you need to start from the beginning. There is to much history in each book and to much interconnected events that reading Fighting Fate first would be a huge mistake.

I will warn you that if you can make it through chapter 2 you may be golden. There is a few Oh My GOD moments that left me speechless.

Looking forward to what Carrie Ann has in store for the Talon Pack.

Being the only girl and the baby of the family with 6 older alpha brothers wasn’t always a pain. They spoiled Cailin and treated her like a princess. Then they grew up and found their place in the pack. Cailin is still struggling with that and it seems like her brothers don’t acknowledge that she has grown up. Now her wolf wants to mate with a male who is as dominant as her brothers. No way is she getting out from under them just to end up under another even if he is hot as sin. Besides there is a war going on and the pack needs her to act as Jaspers assistant right? Logan wants Cailin just as she is. He has been giving her time to get used to the idea but war has a way of screwing up time tables. When tragedy strikes it brings home just how short life can be even for long lived werewolves.
Cailin is the last of the Jamenson’s to fall and I for one will be sad to see them go. I am thrilled that Ms. Ryan will be giving us occasional glimpses back at these old friends and look forward to meeting the men of the Talon pack. This like the other books in this series is full of fun, action, adventure, magic and really hot sex.

Logan and Cailin

The wait is over. This is one of my favorite in the series. I was sad with what happened but was not disappointed w/ the ending.

I didnt like Cailin at first but was totally hooked w/ Logan

The story was full of suspens and action. I also really love how they help and protect each other.

What an ending and can't wait to read the Talon Pack series
😏😉 👍🏻

Favorite quote/line:
“Fight until your last breath, my wolves,” she said, her voice eerily calm. “Fight. We will not fall.” - Pat

“Cailin Jamenson. Yours is the soul I want connected to mine, the soul I need. Your fierceness and strength have never and will never be diminished. I want to spend the rest of my long life with you and fight by your side. I want to fall in love with you in every way possible. I want to watch you grow round with our child. I want to see the way you smile and snark back until the day we are no longer of this earth. I will never hold you back, even when my wolf is begging me to protect you. I will find a way to protect you and have you protect me in the process. I want a partnership, a friendship, a relationship. I want it all.” - Logan

In Fight Fate, Ms. Ryan brings the emotional conclusion to a family, no a pack that has made me cry in happiness and sadness more times than I can count. Over the course of several books and novellas Ms. Ryan has drawn me into the magic, sexiness, legend and love that is the REDWOOD pack.
Through the reading of this series we have gotten to know are star wolves that have been dancing around their sexual tension and draw to one another.
Cailin is the Redwood pack princess and only female offspring of Jamenson family. I love Cailin! She is as strong willed as the males of her pack. She is smart, loyal and sassy. Willing to give herself in any way to stand alongside her family through every battle of this war with Central pack. Although at times she can’t figure out her pack within the pack, Cailin is a dominate wolf and is not willing to submit to anyone. Not even that sexy wolf that she keeps at an arm’s length that fate has dangled right in front of her.

OMG...so much happens in this book! My emotions were all over the place! The Jameson's have had to deal with so much but no matter what happens and who dies they are strong and they will not fail their pack! This all leads to the final battle! Who will live and who will die! Will Cailin and Logan finally mate? What is Logan hiding about himself? Love, Loyalty and Family are very strong motivators...will it be enough to put a stop to the evil that wants the Redwood Pack destroyed! You must read to find out the end to this epic battle between good and evil! Loved it!!

The final book in the Redwood Pack series was great and a little melancholy also. I loved the whole series and getting to know all of the Jamensons through their good times and bad and seeing them get their HEA's. Though I'm sad to see this series end, I'm looking forward to Carrie Ann's new series about the Talon Pack and getting to revisit the Jamenson kids. If you haven't read this series yet, grab it you won't be sorry. Great work Carrie Ann!!

This is a great ending to the Redwood Pack series. As in all the books in the series there is torture, lots of sex but i think that has to be in here to tell the story. Yes there is tragedy in here but also a happy ending. I cried in the beginning of book and at the end. You will laugh, cry and cuss at this story but you will love it also. I am sad to see it end but i'm sure we will here about the Redwoods in another series Carrie Ann is writing.

The conclusion to the Redwoods. The last of the Jamenson siblings, Cailin, has finally found her mate in Logan. Plenty of scenes that are funny, loving, and hot through the book as well as plenty of action culminating in the explosive conclusion of the war between the Redwoods and Cayme and the Centrals. This book was really great and I am sad to see the series end but at least there are two more short stories and the branch off Talon series to read. :)

As in every book I have read that Carrie Ann Ryan wrote this story is powerful. With a sad beginning it still turns out to be one of the strongest love stories ever. So sad to see the end of the Redwood Pack books but on to the Talons.

Ooh my...I’m so happy that I’m finished this book, not in a good way though.
This book is THEE book where the war between the Centrals and the Redwoods come to a end.
My thoughts all the way though is that most of it was just writing on them having sex or them just thinking about sex. Really disappointed.
The end of the war was just an after thought by the author, no real story about it at all...very very rushed. I wasn’t even sad when the people died in this book. I usually cry but not one tear, none whatsoever.
I am really truly sick of this series. Every male and female character got on my last nerve with the I’m not worthy routine.
At last they all decided to fight in one group instead of whatever couple you were reading about trying to kill the demon. Totally Ridiculous.
There is 2 more novella after this but to be honest I think I’m stopping now as I can guest those 2 novella are going to be all about sex and self doubt. MADDENING.

I ‘read’ this book as an audio book. The audio book is narrated by Gregory Salinas and is 6hrs and 40 minutes. If you are on the go a lot like I am I highly recommend this. You get your book fix in all while going about your day.

Firstly I would like to say that I really enjoyed this book series but after 7 books I was ready to move on to a new story. I had to know how it ended but I felt that each book gave a similar story line. I kept trying to predict what would happen and in most cases I was wrong and I like to be surprised so I enjoyed the twists.

The book started off fast and I was crying within a few pages… I do not want to give any spoilers but it will grab you from the start and you won’t be able to put it down till the end.

Cailin is the baby of the Jamenson family and the only daughter. She’s struggled her whole life to find a place where she fits in and feels valuable to their pack and her family. She’s now the assistant to the Beta which is her brother Jasper. But she still feels like something is missing. It could be because she’s been fighting her feelings for Logan. He is definitely a potential mate, but a very dominant wolf and she doesn’t want to loose herself when she’s really just finding herself.

Logan has known that Cailin was his mate since the first time he saw her. She’s the only daughter of the Alpha and has six older brothers protecting her but Logan refuses to be intimidated. Logan feels like he doesn’t belong and has a secret that he thinks will make Cailin run from him.

I really enjoyed reading the Redwood Pack Series. There is a transition book that will connect the Redwood Pack and the Talon Pack Series called Wicked Wolf

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

I will come back and read this along with the Talon Pack Series but I need a break from all things werewolf for the moment.

DNF Tried reading this 3 different times, but just could not bring myself to care about the spoiled self centered "princess" in this book. I luved all the other books in this series with brothers and although this had it's moments and a truly sad part that was crushing I still just want the knock some since into Cailin.

I was very ready for the Redwoods princess, Cailin. She's never had it easy being the youngest, and having only older brothers. What she gets isn't easy, and she fights it as long as she can. In the end she gets her HEA and our hearts can beat a little easier for her.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!
An epic finale! Cailin and Logan’s story is fiery and fierce, just like them. As war closes in, their love becomes a bright spot amid tragedy. The ending is both heartbreaking and hopeful—a brilliant, emotional end to the Redwood Pack saga.
