My father has been kidnapped by my worst enemies. Either that, or he willingly sold me out to them.
Whatever the case, I’m going to find him. Mind you, this would be a lot easier if every Fae in Chicago wasn’t already out for my blood.
They’re not getting it, though.
The only one who’s getting anywhere near my blood is the 700-year-old vampire who saved me. Yes, there are times when I’m convinced he’s not quite right in the head, but so far he’s the only supernatural being I’ve met who sees me as a person rather than a chess piece.
To the rest of them, I’m nothing more than the walking, talking evidence of a war crime. To him, I’m something else. He calls me a loose thread in the tapestry of his forgotten past, but he looks at me like I might be the key to his future.
The rest of them tell me I’m demonkin. They say I’m a succubus-human hybrid who shouldn’t exist.
One thing is very clear, though. My father is carrying a secret bigger than I ever dreamed, and I’m damn well going to pry it out of him.
I just have to get him back from the Fae first. Because, hey - what could possibly go wrong?
The Last Vampire is a steamy urban fantasy romance series from USA Today best seller R. A. Steffan and Jaelynn Woolf, coauthors of the Circle of Blood saga.
Download book two today, and return to a world shared by humans, fae, demons, and one very reluctant vampire. It’s a place where the supernatural threatens the mundane, nothing is as it seems, and love will be either the world’s downfall or its salvation.
USA Today bestselling author R. A. Steffan lives in New Mexico, where the sunsets paint the mountains purple, and roadrunners roam the desert endlessly in search of their coyote victims. When she’s not busy writing stories about people loving each other in all sorts of different and interesting ways, she can be found taking care of her small menagerie of critters.
A rebel to the core, she is currently sticking it to the man by illegally harvesting graywater from the kitchen and bathroom sinks to water trees outside. This fearless disregard for societal norms extends to her writing, as well. There, you will find polyamory along with straight, gay, bisexual, and non-gender conforming love of all flavors. You will also find families of choice, profound friendships, adventure, danger, and good triumphing over evil.
That, and sex. Lots of sex. Most of which is not the vanilla variety.
Rans and Zorah are on the run from the Fae who want to get their hands on Zorah because she is living proof that the Demons broke the treaty since the war ended. Zorah is proof that they were successfully able to mate with humans and Demons are not supposed to interfere with anything on Earth.
Since Zorah’s Incubus Grandfather is Dead and her Mother was murdered, her human Father is the only one alive to show where she came from. The Fae have taken him hostage and moved him to the Fae Realm.
Rans and Zorah are able to feed off of each other, he feeds on blood and her on sexual energy or essence. The romance heats up and Rans uses his contacts in the demon and Fae world to help Zorah.
In this exciting continuation of The Last Vampire, we get the further scary and life-threatening adventures of Zorah, who is part succubus, and Rans, the titular vampire.
After an opening scene where Zorah gets drunk (and the narrator has a ball performing it), Zorah’s father is still missing. She wants to find him so she can discover whether he was really on her side or sold her out. She decides to use one of Rans’s contacts without his knowledge to go in search of her father, but the consequences are nightmare levels of chilling.
The story moves at a fast pace and is absorbing. There are levels of political machinations that Zorah and we readers aren’t aware of yet. The showdown at court toward the end is just one clue of the multi-layered big picture. This is especially evident in the epilogue that leads us waiting eagerly for the next adventure.
One of the things I liked about this story was that Zorah thought she suffered chronic illness before the reveal that she was part succubus. I enjoyed seeing this different type of heroine depicted on the page because it’s a very real slice of life. Several of my friends have chronic illnesses. Another thing about Zorah is that she doesn’t start as a “strong” heroine. She begins everything as weak and afraid, and she’s going through the journey on the page to have true strength of character.
I will say that the title of the series is misleading as Rans is not the main character. I assume we’ll learn more about him in other volumes. As an attention grabber, “The Last Vampire” is a lot more interesting and immediate than “The Succubus Who Didn’t Know She Was a Succubus” or whatever could be said about Zorah.
A note on the audio performance: Gwendolyn Druyor is the voice of Steffan/Woolf. If you’ve listened to any other titles, you know what to expect. If you haven’t heard her performances before, you’re in for a treat. She’s very good and always adds things to her performances that make the dialogue sound like real people speaking.
This is recommended for readers who like urban fantasy and paranormal romance since there are fae, demons, a succubus, and yes, a lone vampire. Do yourself a favor, though, and start with the first book if you haven’t done so already.
The pace of this book has vastly picked up from the first one (having said that I feel the first book laid the foundations for the story). The world building continues to grow and our heroine and hero find themselves at odds with each other. In this episode we find ourselves in the Fae world in search of Zorah's father, a place that could spell the end for her, it's not safe for a demon. As for Caspian he is probably one of the most despicable beings I have ever met, whereas Rans, well you have to love him. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Interesting series so far but it is becoming so freaking annoying at times. The behavior of the h (Zoraida) is so immature and frustrating that I just want to slap her. Her inner monologues are driving me crazy and her self esteem issues are becoming tedious.
The world building on this series is a bit unique so it has peaked my interest and therefore I have been continuing onward, but I’m curious if we are going to see any character growth from her or just more of her TSTL behavior. I guess we’ll see.
I wasnt sure about book one and wanted to give the story a fair chance. I couldn't. I really disliked the characters and couldn't relate at all. I wasnt excited to read this book and gave it a days break before coming back to it and realising that I couldn't remember anything that happened previously- I am just not that invested. Wont be continuing the story.
I enjoyed this second installment and look forward to the next book, BUT I gotta say I sure HATE cliffhangers. These stories are well written and have great character and world building. Would like to see it told from both mains POV.
________________________________________ Kategorisierung 📚 Romance-Sub-Genre: Contemporary, Paranormal, Romantasy, Suspense 👥 Altersgruppe der Hauptfiguren: Adult ➿ Plot-Trope: Break up to save him / her, Damsel in distress, Emotional scars, Golden Retriever, Marriage of convenience, Tortured heroes 🌎 Setting-Trope: - ⚤ Geschlechterkonstellation: Hetero 💞 Beziehungsstruktur: - 🔪 Spannung: Packend 🧠 Psychologische Tiefe: Oberflächlich 🧐 Glaubwürdigkeit: Glaubwürdig ❤️ Sympathiefaktor der Hauptfiguren: Sympathisch 😆 Humor: Wenig 👫 Klassisches Rollenmodell: Ja 💋 Anzahl Spicy Szenen: 2 🔗 Spielart Spicy Szenen: Soft BDSM 🔥 Explizitheit Spicy Szenen: Medium 🎨 Originalität der Erzählweise: Individuelle Sprache und Szenen 👀 Erzählperspektive: Ich-Erzähler:in

This review is for the audio book. Once you got the sex scenes out of the way (Well the main character is a succubus/human), I enjoyed this story, I don't think it was as action packed as the first book but it still has me wanting to get book three to find out what happens next. The story takes up were the last book left off (I don't think you need to have read or listened to the first book but it helps so I would recommend you do.) Zorah must decide the best way to save her human father from the Fae. She has only just found out the truth about being part demon and part human, up until last week she didn't even know demons existed let alone magic. Now she has to go up against the Fae, can she go it alone or will she turn to Rans the last Vampire in the world for help.
The narrator (Gwendolyn) is one of my favourite readers and I have never listened to a book and not enjoyed it if she is reading it. She puts so much energy, emotion and range into each character that they easily come to life.
Okay. I gave in and read this one because it was easier to continue a bad series than start a new series. It still had a lot of the issues I found in the first book (taking place over only a few days yet its pace still snail-like, an incessant and miserable inner monologue from the main character, and an excess of forced and cringe-worthy wit.) but I enjoyed it a little bit more. I think it's because the characters are slowly growing on me, and the stakes felt much higher than in the first book. Like, it was mild, but I still felt something other than irritation while reading this so that's good. I'm gonna keep reading this series I think, and I feel like that means I should rate this book higher, but it was a bad book and while I'm enjoying it enough, I'm not. Enjoying it.
R.A. Stefan & Jaelyn Woolf continues bring it to this great series. They take you further into the imaginative world they created with even more fascinating & interesting storylines with a lot of drama, action, twists and so steamy romance between the two leads. It is great to learn more about Zorah and Rans, as well as the dynamics of their world. I am looking forward to the next book to see what happens next. I thank the authors for this great story!
I listened to the Audible edition, Gwendolyn Druyor delivers another wonderful performance. She is a talented storyteller, sets the perfect tone for the story and adds the right amount of dramatic flair. She enhances an already great book to the next level. Thank you for another great & entertaining listen!
The second installment in this series continues right where we left off, as we dive deeper into the paranormal realm, meeting new characters while running out of options as Zorah’s quest to find her father becomes more desperate. The story moves along at a faster pace with a lot of sexy times in between. There is a bond forming between Zorah and Rans, and those feelings have Zorah making some hasty and unfavorable choices that leave her in quite a predicament. The authors elaborate more on both the demon and fae realms and the epilogue is full of answers giving us even more insight into Zorah’s rare nature and what may be brewing as a result of fae deception. I’m definitely hooked on this adventure and can’t wait to see what Zorah and Rans uncover next!
Listened on audio: It took me a while to get used to the narrator’s voice for Zorah in book one, but now that it’s grown on me, Gwendolyn Druyor did a great performance in this installment. Definitely an improved listening experience.
Still enjoying the overall premise of this series; evil fae after Zorah, Zorah finding herself still being quite the novice on the paranormal world, and some good steam with Rans! In this book, Zorah is really worried about her father, who might possibly be against her, and about using Rans for his sexual energy due to her succubus nature. Still lots of danger going on in this one! Rans tries to help Zorah out, but unfortunately, Zorah’s actions tend towards the not so smart variety. She doesn’t plan, she just acts, which leads to many more problems for her. Zorah can be annoying, but I do appreciate that she has a good heart and is willing to go above and beyond for those she cares about. Another cliffhanger ending for this one, so you’ll need to continue on with the next books. Zorah has many problems to deal with. Still interested to see where she ends up!
I received an Audible code for an honest review via Audiobook Boom. There was no compensation made in the making of this review. Everything that follows is my opinion and mine alone. As the title says, this is book two in an urban fantasy paranormal romance. It starts closely after the events of the first book. As with the last audiobook, the narrator did a good job and I did like the story. It just wasn't the best. I actually preferred book one in comparison.Book Two did reveal more of the fae world and introduced a political dynamic between the Fae and Demons. The world expansion was interesting. That said, everything else just seemed to be less. That isn't to say that I won't listen or read Book three, I hope to. I just don't think this one was as good as Book One.Final Rating: 3/5
Zorah's father had been distant and neglectful after his wife was killed when Zorah was 6 but he's all she has left. So when Zorah finds out the Fae have her father, she needs to know if he'd intended to help her or betray her. Rans warns Zorah he's not good enough for her but who can blame a girl for falling for a guy after he saved her from monsters, protected her, watched over her and said nice things to her? Which is why Zorah wants to make one final, grand gesture before the Fae snuff out her existence. Is this the end for Zorah or will Rans save the day again?
The Last Vampire is a funny, suspenseful and steamy series that you won't be able to put down. I can't wait to read Book 3 of The Last Vampire series.
Picks up right where book one leaves off. I was totally captivated in this one, just as I was with book one. The world built in book one expands a bit more and we find out more about Rans and Zorah. Fast paced and just as thrilling as book one. I love the characters throughout and they're all well written. The plot thickens as we discover more of the dynamic between the demon and fae worlds and where all Zorah fits in.
The narrator does a fabulous job with this book, just as she did with book one. She kept everything consistent with book one and brings out the characters and their emotions well, especially Zorah.
I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of the Pink Flamingo Production Review Team. This second book was exciting and thrilling as Zorah tries to rescue her father and protect Rans. However, she is a little bit crazy and doesn't think things through. Other paranormals are out to kill her and nowhere seems to be safe for her. That is what makes this an exciting story. I don't believe she knows what all her powers are as a paranormal. The relationship between Zorah and Rans gets stronger. The narrator did a good job with the characters and their personalities in this story. Looking forward to more in this series.
I’m finding that I don’t much like Zorah. I find her whiny and prone to too-stupid-to-live decisions (the narrator’s style might have something to do with this impression), and I’m finding that the woman-gagging-for-sex feels like it plays too closely into the subtle Western myth that woman can’t be trusted with their own sexuality because they’re just inherently weak to their own impulses. Plus, being part succubus was just really cliched and predictable. I do find some of the banter between Rans and her funny and there’s really nothing wrong with the writing itself. I’m just not much liking the main character and I’m a bit bored with the story as a whole.
I had read book1 and enjoyed it so thought I'd give book2 a go see what happened to Zorah and Rans next.
By the time I finished book2 my head was spinning a little probably as much as Zorahs with the new information we'd just been given to digest. This book2 does end on a cliff hanger so make up your own mind if you want to begin it, I just hope I can get book3 on kindle unlimited 🍀 fingers x'd.
Zorah tries her best to protect those she loves even if she doesn't want to admit it to herself. Only to find out some totally life changing news
The saga continues. Trying to discover how after twenty six years she is part demon and that such things do exist. Zorah tries to unravel how she came to be, what has happened to her father and how she can save him. She is also attempting to save her new lover who just happens to be a vampire. Yep, honestly a vampire. He seems determined to take care of her and protect her from the Unseelie who want to either end her of dissect her to figure out how she even exist. The plot is good. The sex scenes are graphic but that is the kind of demon she is so deal with it
In this book we find out more about what Zorah is. Rensley thinks that her dad may be have helped organize her kidnapping from the last book, Zorah doesn't want to believe it but he was the only one who knew of her whereabouts. Despite what her father my have done she still wants to save him after he's been at court by the Fae. She Believes that by surrendering herself she can save Rensley and her dad from a death sentence. More truths are revealed and once again Rensley comes to save the day... But a what cost?

So this series is ok. Zorah still kind of sucks as a MC but she is getting better jn finding herself. Sadly this self still seems to a whiny little git who can't do anything for herself. She was better in this book but just so annoying at times. I feel this book was better because the twist was not the sort of twist I had expected to be even if it was still disappointing.
AS GOOD AS THE FIRST BOOK IN THIS SERIES WAS THIS IS EVEN BETTER! My second read from author R.A. Steffan. Typically I'm not a fan of vampire stories but this one was so well-written and enjoyable that I look forward to the third book in the series, and the narrator...incredible. I was provided with an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Action packed book two of The Last Vampire series. This book builds on what was presented in the first book, so I’d recommend reading/listening to that book first. There are some pretty steamy scenes, but what do you expect from a part succubus.
Very interesting storyline with a great narration by Gwendolyn Druyor.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Talk about a ride! This book will absolutely keep you reading till you have devoured the whole thing! I couldn’t have put it down for anything. The suspense will just keep driving you to read more till you have finished it then want more. The next book can’t come out quick enough for me. I will be eagerly awaiting its release! I highly recommend this series to other supernatural book lovers. It sure won’t disappoint!
Zorah decides to take a chance on the Fae that hate her in order to find out if her father is okay or someone who is working for them. They believe she shouldn’t exist but the one vampire left is in love with her. Finding that there had been a battle long going and secrets the far are hiding Zorah is literally caught in the middle of trying to find out what’s been hidden from her all her life. I received this book for free but the opinion is of my own.
Eh. I was hoping this would be better than the first one, and unfortunately, it was probably the exact same. The only thing that was remotely interesting was Rans and her together, otherwise everything else was boring and skim worthy. I also don't care for how the chapter breaks, and how these books end; the scene almost feels unfinished. Will not be continuing the series.
Flock review. This book is even better than the first, Ran and Zorah story picks up where book one left, and it gets way interesting. The storyline continues and the pace picks up, more action, and definitely more things going on. The audiobook definitely is an option, the narrator is the same as book one, Gwendolyn Druyor and she does a fantastic job narrating all characters, I would suggest the audiobook more than the book.
