STOMP - STOMP - STOMP! Another really fun book by Sandra Boynton (SB)! If you have not read anything by SB you will be pleasantly surprised; her books always have a positive message that you can take away and keep in your back pocket for those times when you are feeling down. A fun book with marvelous illustrations!
#readtothenibling This is a very fun book to read aloud with a kiddo with the high-energy rhythmic rhyming and onomatopoeic action words.
Partway through, we read, "Tiny little dino goes deedly dee," and another dinosaur says, "I don't know his name. What could it be?" so I was disappointed that we didn't learn the "tiny little dino's" name. Kirkus Reviewsays, "the tiny little dinosaur is probably Compsognathus and would be about the size of a small chicken."
June 7, 2017 Very cute. Not quite as perfectly rhythmic as the Tickle one, but my kids are obsessed with dinosaurs so they loved this.
January 5, 2018 Well, we read this one almost every night. We didn't for a few months when the library book (EEK!) was lost ☹ ... but we paid the library for it, found it, realized the place it had been hiding (between two sections of the couch) had resulted in significant liquid damage to the book. ☹☹☹ But, after prying the pages apart, it's still readable! 😁 So since we already paid the library for it, it's now one of our go-to bedtime books!
Love the intro to dinosaurs for the little ones! My only quibble (and it's a small one) is that technically, pterodactyls are not dinosaurs. Dinos walked on land. Pterodactyls were pterosaurs - or winged lizards. I know, I know. Picky, picky, picky. And flap does rhyme with tap... so everyone can just cha-cha-cha.
"To celebrate this year's Children's Book Week, we decided to discuss the work of children's author and illustrator Sandra Boynton, whose board books we both have and which are well known for their fun illustrations and whimsical poetry. Since they're each pretty short we decided to talk about a bunch of them, including:. 1. Doggies 2. Dinosaur Dance! 3. Barnyard Dance! 4. Pajama Time! 5. Blue Hat, Green Hat 6. Moo, Baa, La La La! 7. The Going to Bed Book" --Overdue podcast #587 051323
As always, we love anything involving dinos. This book was really cute, I loved the colors. It was simple enough to read and my son loved doing the dinosaur dance.
Simple rhyming fun plus dinosaurs! What’s not to love? If you’re creative and want to get your kiddo moving while you read this book you could also actually do the dinosaur dance.
Boynton, Sandra. Dinosaur Dance!, BOARD BOOK. Little Simon Books, 2016. $5.99.
A big group of dinos do a bunch of dancing. Each dinosaur has its own special moves. With rhyming text, each dinosaur is named accurately and contributes dance steps. I don’t think I’ve ever found a Boynton book I didn’t like and this one is no exception.
Read this to my 5 year old grandson. This was a cute story! My grandson is a huge dinosaur lover and made me read this book first! He was definitely disappointed, we both were, that we never learned the Tiny Little Dino’s name in the end! Overall, I thought this was adorable and perfect for a bedtime story for young kids! Highly recommend!
This book is classic Sandra Boynton. It's full of fun noises and rhyming phrases. The dinosaurs all do their own dances until everyone wants to try the tiny, nameless dino's cha cha cha. It's really fun and quick and short. Kids will love this one, and parents won't mind reading it again and again.
Note: this is not my review but the review of my daughter who can't have her own goodreads but does love herself a book! Therefore I will be writing them for her. She is currently 6 months old.
THIS IS OUR FAVOURITE BOOK EVER. HUGE SMILES, JOLLY GIGGLES. WE LOVE IT AND WOULD GIVE IT ALL THE STARS. A+++++++ ALWAYS A WINNER
I love Sandra Boynton. She is a genius when is comes to the beauty of board books. In her newest book, we learn the names of dinosaurs and dance several funny dances. This book encourages movement and learning! The illustrations are so adorable!!! A hit for all little readers.
A delightful board book of dinosaurs dancing .They are cutely drawn and each has their own dance. Children will delight in trying the dances and maybe making up their own.
