The year is 2124, and the world's population has been divided into two groups: infected and non-infected. Race, ethnicity, and nationality no longer matter.
Cherise Golden is one of the infected. On the run and in hiding since she was fifteen, she’s had enough of being alone. She wants a mate and a family. Someone strong who will protect her from the man hunting her. Taking a huge risk, Cherise goes to the Mate Match Agency, seeking a husband among the infected.
Noah Hunter is the leader of his clan and one of the owners of Mate Match. Noah isn’t looking for a woman. He came to keep an eye on things and make sure the males follow the rules. He didn’t expect to find an infected woman among the potentials, or to be overwhelmingly attracted to her.
If he claims her, does Noah have what it takes to keep Cherise safe? Will Cherise trust Noah long enough to give him a chance? Ready. Set. Go! It's time for a mate run.
Zena Wynn is a multi-published author of erotic and sensual romance in various romance subgenres: Interracial, Contemporary, Paranormal, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and Inspirational. She writes the type of stories she loves to read—stories with great characters who, through love and determination, overcome all the challenges that come their way. Her heroes and heroines are passionately, lovingly, devoted to each other. Zena wants her characters to stick with readers long after “The End.”
Cherise learned her lessons from her mother. " Stay free by any circumstances... Don't hesitate and have no Mercy" was her mother's orders. Her mother sacrificed her life so she could be free and she was determined not to let her mother's sacrifice be done in vain. She'd make her mother proud. Cherise stayed free on her own for twelve years after leaving her clan behind. But she was lonely and was tired of the running. That was why she registered with Mate Match. She had to make sure she'd find a mate who would not only love her but have the strength and cunning to protect her.
Noah Hunter was his clan's leader. He was not looking for a mate but Cherise needed his help and protection. Someone was after her and he felt an overwhelming need to protect her. He was entranced by her stubbornness and ability to stay free for so long so when she thought Hiram, her father, sent his men looking for her, Noah developed a plan so Cherise could stay free with no more running, a new life of her own choosing. Their plan worked just fine but Cherise was more surprise than anything when the men were caught in their trap.
This story painted a post apocalyptic world where the infected were seen as animalistic but that could be further from the truth. It was the uninfected who were more dangerous than the infected. There were pros and cons about both set but I think I would take my chances with the infected.
Let me start by saying that I’ve never read anything from this author before. I didn’t know what to expect, but decided to give her a chance. I must say I’m so glad I did. What I liked most about Ms. Wynn’s story telling was that she actually had a story to tell. The male lead came late in the story, but I fully enjoyed his interaction with the female lead once they met. I also enjoyed the fact that the storyline was not overwhelming sexual. It was a good storyline that kept me interested to know the outcome and just enough sexual encounter between the two leads to keep me invested until the end.
Just like the good the bad and the ugly, some of these infected shifters show strong signs of abusive behavior to women. I think running to get away from bad pack treatment is a theme I have read about in other shifter tails but Cherise really had to run hard in the two years she had after she escapes from her haven. I have to wait to find out who is betraying the women at the mate match agency until the next book. Noah is another fantastic alpha with empathy and the correct level of patience to make Cherise feel safe.
I've read several of Zena's books and some have left me hot and botheredand some not to my taste. This one was in a category of its own but in a well liked category. I liked how the hero did not overwhelm the heroine. He saw that she had trauma and did not try to bulldoze his way in. That gentle but firm approach left me envious of a fictional relationship. I'm looking forward to the next one.
This installment started off like book 1. The plot in this one as it relates to this couple was different but certainly the story keeps us reminded these males are not to be played with. They are focused and once they make up their minds they act on the decision they make. I got to the end of this one really quickly and expected and little more to the story but what is given is entertaining.
This was a nice quick read and I did enjoy the s tory, but it felt like it was still missing something. So she moved into the bedroom, and???? The ending felt incomplete to me. What happened with the mole, what happened to her integrating into the clan, did Cherise reconnect with any of the ladies? The story just stopped, which was disappointing.
I loved the protectiveness of Noah towards Cherise from the very beginning! Cherise needed time to trust people again after her experience and Noah gave her the space she needed! He was a loving alpha who put Cherise's needs and desires first and I loved it! Great work, Ms. Wynn!
Cherise has spent a life on the run always looking over her shoulder, she escaped from a cult. She goes to Match Mate hoping to hide in plain sight. Noah is one of the owners of Match Mate, he wasn't looking for a mate, but circumstance places him with Cherise where he slowly wins her over with patience and love.
I enjoyed Pia's story, the first in the series, but Mate Run 2 Cherise's story was even better!! How awesome it was to have an Alpha hero who wasn't brooding, angry, rude, dark, broken and overbearing FOR A CHANGE. Noah was strong, kind, intelligent, patient, powerful, considerate and thoughtful. Great hero. Great story.
I like this book better than the first, it has more conflict for the main characters (against them, not between them). I also think the MFC and MMC were more interesting, and better fleshed out. If you read the first book, you will recognize some scenes at the beginning but from a different character’s point of view. There is little to no heat in this story.
A stronger plot then book one and a wonderful expansion of the world. There was more character development with Cherice and Noah story. Still a lot of questions to be answered. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
It was nice. A continue of the previous book. I'm noticing that these books are bordering on the clean side which isn't my preference but I still enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the next installment.
This was much better than the last book. Needed that clan to be obliterated. I liked Cherise. Her and Noah were definitely a match. Looking forward to Cara's story.
I read the first book read the second book really can't wait for the next book about the other girl with the kids. This is an awesome story for any skeptics out there just enjoy your book and stop Looking for a movie.
More intense than the first installment and so good. I was anxious right along with Cherise wondering if she would get caught but Noah comes along and helps her to stop running. That feeling that there is more to this saga is there and I can't wait for Wynn to write them!
I would however like to see the 3 main characters reunited to see that they made it out ok. Not a lot of action in these stories but for such a short story, it was ok
This read exemplifies the complexity of rebuilding trust. The process is long and arduous although it can be done. I recommend this look into the patience of love.
