Michael is funny, confident, and drop-dead gorgeous. He’s also straight. He made that clear five years ago when I kissed him.
It was the last time he spoke to me. It took a continent between us to calm my aching heart.
He danced back into my life now when nobody else could help me, offering a chance to be my friend again. Or is he offering more? Getting stuck in his mountain cabin is more than I can take.
The snow won’t chill the ache. If we don’t get out of here soon, I might just do something stupid.
He’s going out of his way to atone for the way he treated me and I feel my resolve breaking. I can’t always be the one doing the smart thing.
Something stupid… Here I come.
One More Spin is the second book in my One More Chance series, but can be read on its own. It includes second chance, forced proximity, gay for you/bisexual awakening tropes and no relationship angst. Steam runs high, but so does the sweetness. HEA is, as always, guaranteed.
3.5 stars. That was a lovely story. After five years Holden returns to the place he turned his back to, now broke, without a job. Holden had a crush on Michael since they were teenagers. They were best friends, one kiss ruined everything, Michael ignored him the rest of the year. Also, the bad relationship with his father made him leave and get as far away as he could. Now he’s back and stranded with Michael in a cabin. All the roads are blocked by snow. It’s been five years, Holden has still feelings and Michael is still straight, right?
Most of this story is sweet, I expected some struggle when they were reunited. But from the very beginning, it goes smoothly well. The heat is on in the cabin, they have the best time, hot and sexy. Further, there was some tension with family, but overall it was quite easygoing. Overall a sweet, sexy, entertaining narrative. A friends to lovers, gay for you, second chances, lovely story for on a winter-evening on the couch with a warm choco.
This was a little too all over the place in pacing and plot in too short of time.
Holden and Michael were best friends until Holden tried to kiss Michael senior year of high school. They parted for 5 years never speaking and then all of a sudden Holden is moving back home and Michael picks him up from the airport, they get snowed in a at a cabin. Michael has GFY awakening and are now in love and return from the snow storm ready to confront their parents, start their own business(that they randomly came up with during the snowstorm) and live happily ever after.
Yeah, nothing really worked for me. Some of the conversations and situations were just awkward and/or unrealistic.
Hayden Hall's One More Spin is, for the most part, a sugary sweet second chance romance. I adore a good second chance romance, and this one definitely grabbed me from the start.
It all begins with an unwelcomed kiss and five years of no communication. But when Holden returns home, he gets an unexpected surprise when he sees Michael again.
The forced proximity aspect is well done, with a snow storm stranding the two men in Michael's cabin. The attraction is mutual, and with some sexual discovery and sexual experimentation, the two are certainly hot together.
Once they talk, there is never an issue between the men. Their love is strong and their dreams are large. They seriously connect is an unbelievable way, but I don't care, as sometimes I want simple. The fact that their reunion is done without all the possible heavy angst, makes for a tender, low angst tale. As for the issues they have, those are with others, as they have to deal with both their families.
Holden's relationship with his father is heartbreaking. Homophobia, embarrassment, and a strained relationship. The two have a lot of healing to do. And then there's Michael's father, who's not only controlling, but is way too tough on his son. The way he treats Michael made me want to cuddle Michael and tell him he's worthy as he is.
The last part of the book, with their dreams coming true, is just adorably perfect. These men are perfect for each other and their tale is one made in the clouds. And I wouldn't want it any other way.
One More Spin is one of those easy reads that will leave you smiling. I enjoyed this Hayden Hall read a lot and definitely recommend it when you want an easy going developing relationship.
One More Spin is a wonderfully heartwarming second-chance, GFY, best friends to lovers story. I found Michael’s acceptance of his attraction to Holden to be particularly refreshing. Once he realises how he’s truly felt for Holden all these years, there is no looking back. Michael is genuine and so possessively sweet - his endearments for his adorable Holden just about melted my heart. These two are so perfectly matched for one another. They’re not only insatiable and extremely steamy between the sheets, but the emotional connection between them is outstanding. The writing is beautiful and the character depth is so rich that you can feel it right from the beginning. With a little forced proximity assistance from Mother Nature, it only gets stronger and more intimate as their relationship evolves.
I particularly liked how once they came together, the focus is then mainly on their growth, both individually, and as a couple, as they look forward to building their own future and no-one else’s. The level of support that Michael and Holden show each other is incredibly heartwarming, enough to almost have me in tears as equally as their pain and hurt. I wanted to wrap Holden up in a warm hug when he confronted his Dad, and I was so very glad for Michael to be there for him, and for the ending they both got. A beautiful story and one I very highly recommend giving a read!
This is a bi-awakening, kind of second chance romance. Holden and Michael were fun characters and I liked that the book started off when they were young so we found out what happened instead of just being told.
Once they met again after five years I loved how sorry Michael felt and how much he wanted to be nice and make up his mistake to Holden. I also really enjoyed reading about how he felt for Holden as he discovered he liked him more than he thought.
I did have some issues with this book. I had a hard time believing some of the scenarios and the chemistry. Both of their families were not great and added a weird dynamic to the book.
They did get their HEA at the end of the book and I did like seeing their idea and love grow. I have not read any of the other books in this series but did not feel like anything was missed. This is a true standalone.
One More Spin is the second book in the One More Chance series by Hayden Hall. One More Spin is about Holden and Michael. 5 years ago Holden kissed Michael. But Michael is straight and ignored Holden after that. Holden left for college big now he's back and snowed in with Michael. For who he still has feelings.
I really liked the story of Holden and Michael. Their story was sweet, sexy, funny and very well written.
I really enjoyed this sweet, sexy, second chance romance. Five years have passed since Holden kissed Michael and Michael set him "straight". Having not seen in other since makes being stranded together somewhat awkward! The forced proximity makes them finally communicate with each other. Michael is confused by the feelings he is experiencing for Holden. As they heal and repair their friendship those feelings grow into something quite different. I loved all the feels this story gives.
I really enjoyed reading this wonderful book. A love lost then refound. Lovable characters. Steamy sex scenes and just the right amount of angst and hope. Totally recommend this book.
In his Preface, the author said that writing One More Spin was his favorite memory from writing any piece of fiction, even two years after writing One More Shot, and that no other novel was more transformative in his life. I believe him. There is something, or there is a lot in the story of Holden and Michael, and reading it was without a doubt both a charming and a steamy experience.
A great GFY story. Holden and Michael were best friends as teens until Holden kissed Michael and was cut from his life. After high school Holden left New Haven for college and didn't look back, that is until he loses his job and is forced to return. Michael knows he treated Holden badly and misses his friend, so when he picks Holden up from the airport and the pair get stuck in a cabin due to a blizzard, he has the opportunity to make amends. He also realises he isn't as straight as he thought he was. Both MC's get a pov and are pretty good at communicating. I really liked them both and although there were issues to overcome, there wasn't a lot of angst.
This was an enjoyable fast reading well wriiten second chance romance by Hayden Hall my first by this author but definitely not my last. From the first page to the lasy really enjoyed how after losing their friendship over a kiss in high school, found their way back to each other 5 years later, over a ride home from the airport and a wicked snow storm.
I was given a free arc copy from the author for review.
3.5 stars
I enjoyed this book enough. I didn't love it but i didn't hate it. I really did enjoy the premise and plot. I found it interesting enough from start to finish and read it all in one read. The MC were ok but I didn't really feel for either of them like I would in other books. I also felt like the chemistry was off between the 2 MCs or I just didn't feel it. Other than the 90% sex scenes in the 2nd half of the book I just didn't feel any romance between them. I don't really buy the whole I'm totally straight but I just want you and then going from 0 to 60 with no hesitation. absolutely hated both of their families and I found some moments in the plot to be kind of unrealistic. I don't think I would recommend this one but u would definitely read the next one in the series to see if a different couple is better because I did enjoy the authors overall writing
This isn't your typical 2nd chance romance because they didn't actually date. 5 years ago Holden had a crush on his best friend Michael and kissed him. Then they never spoke again. Michael was self declared straight and actually dating their mutual best friend Jess at the time.
Holden comes out to his father who is his only family and is rejected so he moves away. Time passes and he finds himself out of work and needs to move back home.
Meanwhile Michael and Jess have broke up but are still friends. When she is unable to pick Holden up from the airport she asks Michael to and he agrees. He wants a chance to apologize to Holden for his treatment of him even though he still declares himself straight.
A terrible storm blows in making it impossible to drive the 2 hours back but Michael has a cabin close by so they go there and get trapped for days with nothing to do but talk and bond in front of a cozy fire.
Easy read that draws you in and makes you keep flipping pages. I loved the easy banter between holden and Michael. They have been friends forever along with Jess. But one kiss changed everything. Holden has had a crush on Michael since forever and a kiss tears them apart. We later learn that Jess had recently accused Michael of having those exact feelings but coincidence placed the kiss too close for his comfort. 5 years later and holden is back from across the country to lick wounds of losing a job and Michael picks him up from the airport. The elephant in the room after their last encounter made things tense but you could slowly start to see that there is more under the surface of their easy connection. They clicked and their simmering slow chemistry was awesome as it was built on friendship regardless of it being absent for 5 years. Being trapped and snowed in allowed them to finally clear the air and develop their relationship more. Loved their steamy moments and how holden was understanding about Michael being confused. Great story.

Michael and Holden were best friends in high school. Michael was dating Jess, and Holden was crushing on Michael. Then one day when Michael was teasing Holden about skipping class and doing ANYTHING they liked, Holden gave into impulse and kissed Michael.
There was no fight, just silence. For the rest of the school year they were like strangers. And as soon as he graduated — and had a horrible experience coming out to his father — Holden picked up and moved as far away as he could manage.
Five years later, Holden lost his job and the small town he fled to wasn’t flush with alternatives. So he packed up to head home, informing only Jess. Putting off a confrontation with his father as long as possible.
Jess was supposed to pick him up, but was caught out of town. They were no longer dating, but Jess easily committed Michael to pick up Holden in her stead.
Unfortunately a blizzard interfered with their drive, making a tangental trip to Michael’s father’s cabin a better choice than trying to fight their way home. So, snowed in together, initially without electricity. Trying to recapture their friendship while both of them find themselves wanting more. Enter alcohol and truth or dare.
I was intrigued to try a new author and One More Spin’s blurb sounded right up my alley. I do like my angst, and I’ll admit I was expecting a fair amount given the way Holden and Michael left things five years ago. Instead, One More Spin was a sweeter edged romance, but I enjoyed it and found the writing to be smooth and the characters likable.
Something about the simmering chemistry and push-pull of second chance romances tend to draw me in. While this wasn’t a classic storyline within that trope because Michael and Holden were never more than high school friends, it still had that dynamic. The author does a good job highlighting the physical and emotional connection between the men, and I was pleased there wasn’t much of the classic misunderstanding/ poor communication to muddy about their love story. Those aspects, the forced proximity, and the bi-awakening made for a good read I suspect will be a hit among readers.
Overall, I’d classify One More Spin as a lower angst, bi-awakening romance that has a great steam factor. I certainly think I’ll read more from this author and look forward to seeing what stories he delivers next.

If "snowed in" is its own romance trope then it's a new favorite because of this book. It's such a heartfelt love story full of sweet moments and increasing self-awareness as a snowstorm forces former best friends Michael and Holden to hole up in a remote mountain cabin.
As they tentatively reconnect after an emotionally crushing falling out years earlier, they work through complicated feelings, sexual tension, overly vivid imaginations, and a card game steamy enough to melt the snow outside (and plenty of steamy times after that). Their HEA is just as loving, supportive and heartwarming as I'd hoped it'd be. They stole each other's hearts right along with mine.
I look forward to reading more from this author and more in this series. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)
One More Spin was a very sweet second chance story that also had a lot of steam.
After Holden kissed his best friend Michael there friend was ruined. They didn’t talk for the rest of the school year and they haven’t seen each other in the five years since then.
When Holden needs a ride from the airport Micheal is there to help him. Being alone in the cabin with Holden gave Micheal the space & time he needed to admit his feelings for Holden.
This story was straight forward with no crazy relationship drama (which I LOVED!) It did have some angst with each main characters respective families and that added a nice layer to the story.
I enjoyed the writing of each characters point of view, and I think the story was paced very nicely.
I did receive a free ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews but that did not influence my review.
I love these tropes, they're ones I return to again and again (save for the second chance trope, that one always gives me pause) so I had high hopes for this story.
Both guys are pretty average, their voices relatively individual though not distinct, and the steam was there too. I actually skimmed a lot of the steamy passages because I just didn't feel enough of a connection to them on their own or to them as a couple so it made my reading faster than normal. Introducing the idea of an experiment between friends knowing there are feelings could have been a recipe for heartache, so while I'm glad things worked out in the end, it turned me off really early on in their relationship evolution.
While it wasn't an unsuccessful story or even a bad one, I just wasn't drawn in, riveted, or compelled to keep turning the pages.
Michael and Holden were made for each other. I really liked that Michael's gay awakening and subsequent freak out was very very short but realistic. I enjoyed all of the steamy scenes between the two. The whole getting stranded and finding love through forced proximity was really well down. I liked that Michael had realizations that the way that he handled the kiss in high school could have been traumatizing to Holden and his need to apologize made me like him more, though the number of times that both Michael and Holden bring it up again after the resolution was a little annoying. I loved the characters, especially Jess. I liked that the parents also had redemptions. I would recommend this book.
Didn't remember the guys names, had to open the book up again. For that the two extra stars I was going to give have been slashed. I remember the plot, however I wouldn't consider this a true second chance romance given the circumstances and all but that's just me.
Their moments were also remembered (really, sometimes these books have really forgettable characters and I only remember what happened in the books) and while cute and I "aww'd" often, it was just a cute book to read on the weekend.
This is my first book by author Hayden Hall, and it won’t be the last. I’ve always been a sucker for second chance stories and this one delivers. Holden and Michael have been friends for years. One kiss changed that all when they were young. Holden moved away and tried to mend his broken heart. One fired Holden, and one confused Michael, throw in a blizzard and a cabin. Gin is involved along with a deck of cards. Theses two have to fight a bigot father, a tight wad dad and a uncle who knows how to help the two boys. This is a great book, second chance story. Love, hurt, steamy and a stupid blizzard.
A warm, enjoyable, mm romance story of two young men, high school friends who separate fir 5 years when Holden who has been in love with his friend Michael.kisses him and things go sour. 5 years on Holden has to return to his hometown. Caught in a snow storm, they take refuge in Michael's family cabin from a snow storm.
While trapped together, the chemistry betwern them grows and a pure love developed. Alit of hot sex and soul searching and opening up to each other sees the two young men grow closer together and make plans together. See how they navigate their family and acceptance. Read it and enjoy. A lovely festive time read.
When your best friend becomes the other half of your soul
Wow! This is the first book I’ve read of this author and I was blown away. What an intense love story between two childhood friends reunited and trapped in a snowstorm together. Michael and Hudson are perfect for each other and once they take that final leap it’s easy to see it’s a forever after kind of love. I will definitely be adding Hayden to my list of go-to authors. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book.
Both are miserable and unfulfilled, one sponging off a wealthy family but hating it, the other broke, unemployed and a father that disowned him. They both they the other hates them, because they seem to lack basic communication skills around each other. Forced proximity, alcohol, a game of truth or dare, and suddenly they can’t keep their hands off each other. Idiots. Loveable idiots. Everything works out perfectly in the end, after all the angst, every wrong is corrected, it’s like reading a warm hug.
Just… boring?? God forced proximity has to have some tension some drama something but this is just boring and cookie cutter even when we leave the cabin it’s all such a bore the big dad confrontation was anticlimactic there is no rising action nothing to look forward to it’s just flat the whole way thru the couple isn’t even that likeable ? They both have no characterization the writing isn’t horrible fanfic writing so there’s that
It was kind of slow at first and the sudden turn and realization of feelings on Michael’s end was pretty abrupt. It was a little out of nowhere and fast for even my taste, and I’m a sucker for insta-love when it’s done well especially between two best friends.
As much as I enjoyed Holden and Michael together I did keep putting it down and only reading a few chapters at a time, it wasn’t one that had me hooked so much that I finished it quickly.
There are many sources for outright porn. Too much detail interferes with the flow of the story and the reader's imagination. I found myself skimming the drawn out erotic scenes, and almost didn't finish the book. For my taste, a lighter emphasis would have made the romance more engaging. Best wishes for continuing works.
One More Spin by author Hayden Hall is a second chance MM romance. I was really surprised at how much I really liked this story. I loved watching these two go from teen romance to adult romance. They both did a ton of growing up in this story.
Holden is feeling guilty for how he treated Michael so many years ago. He was a confused teenager not ready to admit he liked Michael more than he should. So he let Michael think he did something wrong by kissing him and let him stay away for years since. Now he wants to do the right thing and talk to him and straighten everything out.
Michael has had it bad for Holden since they were kids. He thought kissing his crush in high school was the worse decision of his life. He stays away from his hometown, so he doesn’t have to deal with it all.
But now Michael has to go back to the place he has been running from. He has to start over and getting snowed in with Holden was never on the agenda.
I liked this story. This is a beautiful love story. A little bit of angst but a whole lot of both of the MC’s growing up and owning their actions.
I've always loved 'snowed in' stories, don't think I could ever tire of it, they are always so sweet and/or angsty. This one was a little more involved, and long, but still a lovely read. I got the bonus of another favorite trope of mine, 'gay for you' seeing Michaels eyes and mind slowly open is pure heaven.
