Yesterday Marissa Scott thought she would never be selected for breeding.
Today she stands naked before her new masters with her tear-stained cheeks blushing crimson, her bottom burning from a stern reminder of her place, and her helpless arousal on full display.
But it isn't just the thought of three Kobar warriors ravaging her without mercy that terrifies her.
It is what these brutes will do once they've claimed her.
She knows they will share her.
She knows they will use her in ways more shameful than she can imagine.
But worst of all, she knows they will make her beg for all of it.
Publisher's Note: Theirs to Command is a stand-alone novel which is the second book in the Kobar Mates series. It includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
This novel was somewhat enjoyable, but contained inconsistencies that detracted from my enjoyment of the novel. For example, one of the heroes says that the Kobar do not like to engage in sexual assault, but in the world building, a lottery girl is forced to service the Kobar by draft. She is essentially a slave with no rights or legal protections, and she is not permitted to say no. By definition, that is sexual assault. The Kobar also released a bio weapon to force human women’s sexuality to change to suit their own whims and preferences, which is next level violation. At the end of the novel, the heroine says that she understands why they did that, while at the same time being horrified by the human resistance designing a bio weapon to to kill all the Kobar. My emotional reaction to to this story was that the supposed bad guys, the human resistance, actually had most of my sympathy. The Kobar are already colonizers at the start of the novel, so they already have a strike against them from the beginning. It is the author’s job to convince me that I should root for them despite that poor start. However, she did not convince me successfully that the Kobar do not deserve to be wiped out by a bio weapon. As a culture, their actions are pretty much monstrous across the board. This emotional disconnect I experienced made me feel like the end was not a real Happy Ever After ending since the heroine ended up mated to three Kobar. So far, there has been no acknowledgement by any of the Kobar characters in this series that they are the bad guys for invading someone else’s planet, in addition to various other atrocities. As the reader, I am unable to feel any empathy for the Kobar characters as a result.
The author continues strong with this second book in the series. She brought new characters that have to overcome their own pasts and perceptions of each other to find their HEA. The leading lady transforms from a selfish elite into a loving woman with just the right encouragement from her guys. But don’t think they didn’t walk away gentled by her touch. Throw in some betrayal and subversive behavior and you will be glued to the edge of your seat. This book is steamy enough you might want to enjoy it behind closed doors, but you will not want to miss the journey to the HEA.
I quite enjoyed reading this intriguing Sci-Fi alien/human romance that has a darkish undertone. The characters are fairly well-developed with unique personalities & the female character display realistic & quite believable emotional feelings, while going through the turmoil of an uncertain future. The plot has some intriguing situations and/or events. It is about: a young woman (Marissa) forced to participate in a lottery system & become a slave/breeder for three domineering Kobar alien warriors (Darik Oseff, Varren Oseff & Shaedon) There is: a civil service contact, conquering Kobar aliens, humans, rebels, mates, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, mystery, secrets, suspicions, deceit, betrayal, bio weapons, danger, threats, enemies, conflict, violence, slavery, captivity, heartache, emotional turmoil, anguish vulnerability, humiliation, defiance, punishment, spankings, brutality, atrocities, vengeful feelings, domination/submission, possessiveness, confrontations, regrets, distrust, verbal conflict, determination, complications, confrontations, compromises, explicit steamy scenes, contentment & a satisfying conclusion.
I get the dominant nature of the book and the mating but does she snitch so easily. She does nothing to encourage her mates to look at what the human race wants in a different way, she just falls in line and takes away another woman’s choice to choose to be with the Kobar. This is my problem with some of these dom books.
Marissa, the FC is a beauty content creator ( i like the fact that she's a youtuber ^.^) who was chosen as the "lottery girl", basically a sex slave to 3 alien leaders. As usual, with these kinds of books, you need to start reading with open mind and open legs. jkjk but i wasn't really since the relationship started, to me, without consent. Luckily i've read bunch of smut in manga so the concept of consent is non existing there. anywayyy....consent apart, the book is quite intriguing and if you have no problem with spanking, pain, overly rough men, then definitely suggest.
This book was a little hard to take for me. I agree with other reviewers, the FMC just gave in and accepts that she was now “changed” and needed pain. Why do the human women have to change to want to be abused? I would have like this better if there were some give and take between the two species trying to merge. The Kobar maybe trying to temper their need to “hurt” the human women? You can have spanking and edgy encounters without it being so harsh and crossing over to abusive. She repeatedly wanted to have someone be gentle with her, and then all of a sudden she is fine with being hurt and crying with each sexual encounter. I generally really like Ivy Barrett’s books, not this one.
There’s a fair amount of suspension of disbelief needed for this RH romance. Two of the heroes are mourning past mates, but suddenly their avowed loyalty to their mates’ memories just dissipates. The heroine moves from hate to love and understanding of the Kobar culture so fast I felt like I was getting whiplash. And at the end, something pretty terrible happens to the women, and I had a lot of trouble accepting that and believing that the heroine could as well. There’s an interesting plot thread around assimilation here, but it gets buried by other aspects of the story, and that leads to a middling read.
While this is a darkly erotic read, I also found it an erratic read. The emotions of both the female and the male characters seemed all over the place. The love/hate seemed to switch constantly. And while some scenes were intensely sexual, there were other scenes that missed the opportunity. There was a strong physical attraction between the characters however I found it difficult to feel the emotional attraction since there didn’t seem to be any scenes where the characters really connected outside of the “bedroom”.
I received a free copy from Booksprout. This is my unbiased review.
Marissa Scott wasn’t supposed to be part of the lottery. Her grandfather was high up in the ranks. When her number was called and she didn’t show, the Kobar were not going to let that stand. She had a choice of which cadre she could go to. But the Kobar were nothing but evil monsters. Darvik, Varren, and Shaedon won the lottery but there was no love for the human. She was just a means to be used within the rules. No affection would ever come from them. Two brothers lost their love to the war. They would never bend.
Kobar’s may be trying to ensure that the five woman with ranking of importance be taken to control the rebellion but there are a few things that are also being addressed. However, not everything is easy. Anna was the first. Her rank as Director of Human Resources. Marissa is a Fashion and Entertainment streamer. It is the rank of the family that is the key. Her grandfather commanded the largest military force. The way Darvik and Shaedon treat Marissa in the beginning is callus and cruel. Varren was the only one from the beginning that had a bit of care. We learn a lot more about Emily and Vixen. The Resistance it seems is causing more harm than good. We also learn a few other things about the Commander Jesorax. He took matters into his own hands with Project Evolution. I won’t say what it is. Also once the cadre found out about everything, matters got discussed and resolved, well to the best it could be.
I think this is one messed up storyline, but it’s not as bad as some reviews suggest
I almost didn’t read the second book.
Action ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Believable storyline & overall plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Entertainment 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Spicy 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️ Triggers 🚩🚩🚩 Writing style & written format ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall a solid 3/5
Note the lower the 🚩 the better, meaning not many triggers & defines it as a romantic read not dark romance.🥰
This book has A LOT of triggers (coercion resulting in non consensual sexual encounters, physical manipulation to gain desired outcomes, emotional manipulation, kidnapping, forced prostitution, etc) much the same as the first book. I read where a lot of people found the FMC to be problematic, honestly SHE’s better than all the other characters in this book. What people aren’t seeing is how badly she’s been manipulated her entire life, so if she’s wishy-washy then why is anyone surprised. She manipulated by the Kobar’s, her family, her “friends”. Honestly, just like the first book I’m angry on these girls behalf. Frankly, in my opinion, the girls involved forgive to easily (but this too is because they are manipulated).
My least favorite character is SC Byrne and has been since the first book.
I loved reading Theirs to Command(Kobar Mates Book 2). All about Marissa Scott the granddaughter of the Rebel Leaders she is twenty-six years old & is into fashion & make-up running her own blog. She has been selected for the Civil Service breeding program, that automatically mates her with three Kobar Warriors. Marissa tries to fight the procedure, insisting she is exempt from the program. But she learns that their are no exceptions any more. She is a lotttery girl given to Commander Darvik in sector 286 along with is cadre. So three Warriors she will be breeding with. Read about Marissa and her warriors and see how this adventure will end. Every emotion you can have is used in this story, and you will not be disappointed!!! Kobar warriors use discipline to train their girls, this gives much pleasure to all parties !! If you do not enjoy spankings, then do not read this book. How ever if you enjoy domestic discipline, you will thoroughly enjoy this book!!! I hope the author writes a few more for this series!!!!
Marissa was selected as a lottery girl. Marissa was promised by her grandparents that she wouldn't ever be one. Her grandfather Admiral Lenard Scott used to command the largest human military but was forced to step down when the Kobar came to earth and took over but there are still rebellions out their that don't like the Kobar. Marissa didn't know what to expect. Marissa is a Fashion and Entertainment streamer and works as at a Wearhouse stocking shelves. Marissa was always told that the woman that are capture would be nothing more than a sex slave to the Kobar men. When Marissa was first taken they took her to the processing center to get nanites so she would suite the Kobar men. Darvik, Varren, Shaedon were the three cabre from sector eight. Darvik was the leader for this section. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Earth being defeated def. has its upside for some! The Kobars defeated Earth in just eleven days. Now the cadre of Darvik, Varren and Shaedon own Marissa for a year after her number came up. As a legally owned Lottery Girl she is theirs to command. All three of the Kobar males have very good reasons to hate humans but they are drawn to Marissa. And despite fighting it she soon finds herself drawn to them and craving the pain they need to give her. Falling for all three damaged but very different males was not what she wanted but soon her heart is soon as involved as her body is, though secrets are being kept. Finding the development of the series interesting , but I keep wondering if the Kobar (through our lovely author) ever consider checking the best genetic match ups between lottery girls and cadres before putting the two together instead of merely looking at matching tiers of social status to make those decisions. After all, if one is attempting to build a foundation of a new hybrid species, shouldn't that be the first concern? Make us believe that coming out at the top of the new order could happen to anyone, Ivy, not just the current privileged and protected strata of human society. Otherwise an interesting take on what a group might do to survive.
This is the second book in the series. You do not need to read book one to enjoy this book. Marissa, as the granddaughter of an important general, was supposed to be exempt from the lottery. But, as Marissa finds out, that has ended. All women are now in the lottery, no exceptions. Marissa is bought by Darvik, Shaedon, and Varren. In the beginning, they don't really want a mate, but they all start to fall in love with Marissa. There is a lot of background that is given to the reader to help sort out this new alien world, so you really need to pay attention. I enjoy this author's books and this one is no exception. I am looking forward to book three.
Marissa never expected to be a lottery girl and is fiercely opposed to having her freedom of choice taken from her. This attitude very quickly gets her into trouble however when within moments of meeting her Masters she finds herself being disciplined. Her Masters have each suffered a great deal of loss and will not hesitate to dominate her but they will each build a trust bond with Marissa even as they fight against it.
Was gifted an ARC copy of this book and can guarantee if you enjoy reading this type of genre recommend this story. Theirs to Command is the book you find yourself making excuses to hide away so you can continue reading undisturbed.
The Kobar have taken over or at least come to an agreement with the people of earth. Part of this is the Lottery Girls, chosen at random they are forced to spend one year with a cadre. This starts out with an entitled fmc, one that due to her family and connections had been promised that her number will never been drawn. This book challenges her perceptions of the cadre she chooses for herself, what she wants for herself and how the world now works. Marissa and the guys find out a hard truth about the lottery and Kobar, while also finding some peace with each other.

I have to say I was deeply enthralled in this storyline where invaders into earths atmosphere after their world had been decimated and how the people on earth banded together to try to eradicate the new alien species who had landed on at Shores. The United Nations decided that they would offer their women to the invaders so that they could placate them but that didn’t stop there, the new aliens put something into the waters and food that change the women so that they would accept their dominance. Join Marissa in her personal battle for her independence from her new owners.

Great book and story! MC's were great together. Their chemistry was off the charts. FMC was picked as a lottery girl for the Kobar aliens. Meaning she would need to submit to her Kobar cadre which includes 3 males. 3 extremely dominant alien males. Lottery girls are pretty much sex slaves. MMC's were all dominant. They used her and abused her. Things didn't stay that way long. The males started having feelings for her. They wanted to ask her to mate with them. Story continues with this 2nd book in this series. Kobar aliens are still trying to dismantle the human resistance. They need to capture the leaders to stop them. This book was exciting, sexy, heartfelt and fun. I couldn't put it down.
Marissa thinks she's exempt from the lottery because of her grandfather, but comes to find out that all the exemptions have been abolished and she's been chosen to be a Kobar Lottery Pleasure girl. The themes are dark, erotic and gritty, but the characters are well developed and the story line is also well developed. There is a nice amount of action and adventure as well as political intrigue. all in all a really great read.

Marissa's behaviour and attitude hasn't changed much since the Kobar arrived on Earth. Coming from a wealthy and influential family, she spends her time "influencing" people via her vlog. But when the rebels create more problems than what the aliens want to continue dealing with, she is taken as a means of controlling one of the leaders. Will her attitude change when she realizes just how devastating the rebel movement has become to those who just want to live? Will her relationship to the cadre become one of maturity? Will she survive the betrayal from those she trusts the most?
Things changed about the lottery in the first book and this picks up there. The anti-alien sentiment is strong for Marissa, but time and attention gradually change her mind and lust blossoms organically into love. I enjoy the world building in this series, along with the perfect pace that reveals a lot without rushing things along, and I especially like the characters. Their backgrounds are varied and interesting and they are all endearing in their own ways. I look forward to seeing how things unfold in the future books.
Dark dominant ménage... Since Earth had been dominated by the Kobar Empire, they were subject to their rules. One of which required young healthy women to enter into servitude for one year through a not so random lottery. Marissa, who had been exempted due to family connections, ended up being sent to Shaedon, Varren, Darvik who would share her. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this story. It was well written and I loved the characters. Marissa was chosen for the lottery even though she was suppose to be exempt. She was bought by the Kobar alphas, Shaedon, Darvik and Varren. I love how the characters grew to love each other. The storyline kept me reading until the very end. Can't wait for the next book in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Marissa is chosen for the lottery and will be taken by three Kobar warriors. Her three warriors are only fulfilling their duty because they had already lost at love. What will happen when sparks begin to fly between her warriors and Marissa? Fast-paced, steamy sci-fi read with great world building and very steamy. I really liked this sizzling read.
—>>> This is the first book of the series I have read, but, hopefully, not the last! This dark and intriguing sci-fi romance has a layered storyline, featuring Kobar alien warriors, a human female lottery, humans rebelling against the planet takeover, and slowly revealed backstories which drive the cadre of males’ responses to their Lottery Girl and she to their dominance and expectations.
I like this series a great deal and this book is no different, my only issues is Varied character development, I feel like you get some past with two of the three cadre but he feels a little under developed but other than that, I have no issue 😉.
The story line development felt thought out and the other characters storyline show good development and I cant wait wait for the supreme commanders story.
While this series is more BDSM, there's still a wonderful story that goes with it 😃. Lots of action, lots of intense situations, bad humans who typically think fighting solves everything and interesting characters 😋. Thanks again Ivy, I truly enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more 🤓.
