Rate this book
Kitty felt like nothing mattered, she was dead inside, a ghost living in a body she didn’t recognise anymore. All she could see when she looked in the mirror was a pale, washed out, miserable stranger, engulfed by darkness. Time had stopped for Kitty she felt like a shell of a person who’d lost her way in life, there was nothing left inside of her, no beating heart, no thoughts racing, just numbness. She wondered why she even existed, she felt the world, and everyone in it, would be better off without her, that they would all, quickly forget her existence, if she were no longer around. It almost felt like she was being dragged through life, by time, rather than actually being able to participate in it, she felt empty, useless, unwanted, not good enough.

Great book - a perfect representation of a life blighted with narcissistic abuse and the psychological repercussions that can have on a person's life from childhood to adulthood. I read this in a day as it was "un-putdownable" and I was eager to find out what happened at the end. In spite of the character continually being knocked back throughout her life, the story gave me a strong sense of that unrelenting strength and determination often adopted by women who endure domestic, sexual and narcissistic abuse. A must read!
