Rate this book
'Dan's book demonstrates that the future will belong to the peacemakers - the true heroes among us.' - Bear GryllsWhen thirty-three Chilean miners stepped into the light, alive and well, after sixty-nine days entombed in the earth, the world experienced a rare treat - some good news. Was this an anomaly, or are there other untapped glimmers of hope, hidden behind the headlines?Armed with a camera, a notebook, and a perilous sense of curiosity, Dan Morrice embarks upon a global journey to meet the peacemakers - unsung heroes, forging peace in extreme environments, from war-torn nations to disaster zones. From Chilean miners to Syrian refugees, from ex-football hooligans in Britain, to revolutionaries in Israel-Palestine, Dan discovers how the most unlikely people are rediscovering Christian faith and rewriting the fractured history of our time. At the apex of his journey, Dan's interviews lead him on a five-hundred-mile walk across the Negev Desert to find their source of hope first-hand.In a generation tired of divided nations and negative news, Finding the Peacemakers tells the unreported story of a global movement overcoming the odds to build peace in troubled times.'O ne of the most inspiring books I have read for many year s.' - Baroness Caroline Cox

Finding the Peacemakers is a narrative nonfiction book that describes Dan Morrice's journeys and the people he met along the way. Many of them are Christians who are trying to find God's peace in difficult circumstances.
This book retells the stories behind the news headlines. It starts with the Chilean miners who were trapped underground and how their faith helped them. In the second half of the book, Dan Morrice walked from Egypt to Nazareth, following the journey of Jesus as a boy and talking to different people along the way.
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the writing style and I liked his slightly ironic humour.
I hope that he continues to write more books and undertake more journeys because it is great to hear stories of Christians in our own day who are seeing answers to prayer and staying true to their faith in difficult circumstances.

What a collection of stories!

Finding the peacemakers really is what Dan has done over the years. It really makes you look back over the times in your life when you see these glimpses of life as God intended it to be - sacrificial, loving, and service to one another.

Some positive stories in world full of doom and gloom headlines.

A highly recommended uplift!

Dan describes himself as a “geography teacher with a few questions that the headlines weren’t answering, and my search for truth got a little out of hand” This account of his journeying, and the people whose stories inspired, challenged and reshaped him, is inspiring.
In a world where stories of violence, repression, abuse and negativity dominate the media, Dan discovers the peacemakers. From Chilean miners to Syrian refugees, to revolutionaries in Israel-Palestine, Dan discovers how the lives of the most unlikely people have been radically transformed by the Christian faith.

Finding the Peacemakers by Dan Morrice is a beautiful retelling of stories from people ranging from the mines of Chile to the deserts of the Middle East. I had the pleasure of hearing him preach at my local church, and I was deeply inspired by both his message and the heart behind his book. In every story, he reveals the profound peace many people have found in God. Regardless of their circumstances or livelihoods, each person was/is able to overcome suffering and the evil in their lives through the goodness of God.

I would recommend this to anyone!

Absolutely superb book. Brilliantly and engagingly written, and provides tremendous examples of hope gleaned from despair, love winning over hate, and good coming from the worst situations. Very highly recommended to the spiritual and non-spiritual alike.

Dan Morrice's first book is a hugely readable personal account of the writer's own journeys - from the Atacama to the Negev - and the people he met.
