Rate this book
After Lacey Pinkerton solved the hundred-year-old mystery of the Hawksworth family murders, Port Danby dropped into a season of chaos. Mayor Price resigned from office, and the town grew divided with some standing behind Harlan Price, and the Price family legacy, and others, including Lacey, deciding that Bertram Hawksworth needed total exoneration and a loftier place in Danby history.

With a vacancy in the mayor's office, Nellie Smith, Bertram's great-grandniece decides to run, and Lacey is happy to join the campaign. When a man is murdered on Nellie's driveway, all evidence points to the candidate. Lacey is in a race against time to solve the murder and save the campaign. But the investigation takes a dangerous turn when Lacey becomes the killer's next target.

The infamous 100 year old Port Danby murder might have been solved, but that doesn't mean things have slowed down in town. Mayor Price's resignation is only the start of things. The mayor's office needs a new person in charge and Lacey's seeing a big divide between those who believe the newly uncovered truth about the Hawksworth murders and those who are stuck on believing the lies.

On the surprising end of things, the now ex-Mayor Price isn't as awful as Lacey thought. On the NOT surprising end of things, Lacey's in the middle of another murder investigation. A current one. A murder where she discovered the body. Again, not surprising.

She's also dealing with Lola's wedding plans, campaigning for the person she hopes will be the next mayor, and dealing with someone out to get her. Which is weird because she never EVER sticks her nose (literally) into anyone else's business. Unless, you know, their business is MURDER! Then she's all up in that.

Anywho. Murder, mayhem, and some gentle kisses with her hunky detective. I am here for it.

Love the Port Danby Series

Book 15, Shamrocks and Shenanigans is one of my favorite series. I liked how Lovett upped the tension in this one. Can't say how without giving spoilers. I read it in one sitting--the pacing and story line kept me glued to the book. Can't wait for book 16.

I loved this book, Port Danby Mystery Series #15, and I have read them all! These books keep on being written so well, that I would not miss reading every one that comes out. I love all the characters, the citizens of Port Danby, and I especially love Kingston the crow, the big attraction at Lacey's flower shop!

In this book, after Mayor Price left the office of mayor when the Hawksworth murder was solved change comes to Port Danby. Two people are running, one a member of the old Hawksworth family and a business man. Some of the people want the old mayor back, but it really seems more people want change.
Lacey is supporting Nellie Smith, Hawksworth's great grand niece, and she finds herself plunk in the middle being Nellie's campaign manager as well!

Murder happens and the book has everything I like in a book. Murder, Lacey's involvement in finding the killer, almost getting taken out as well. This upsets Detective Briggs very much, who happens to be Lacey's boyfriend! There was angst, mystery and thrilling scenes when everything winds up for the reveal of the murderer! On top of this Lola is shopping for wedding dresses, and the seriousness of the situation and madcap hijinks this causes is hilarious!

Take a trip to Port Danby! You will not regret it! I gave this book 5 stars and look forward to the sixteenth book of this series. I have added the first 15 in order and really recommend you read them all to get the full delight of this series.

“Shamrock and Shenanigans” is another delightful glimpse into the lives of some of my favorite characters in Port Danby.

With the revelation that one of Mayor Price’s ancestors committed murder he has resigned. Now Nellie has decided to run for office. However, there are some people including the acting mayor who are not crazy about having her in the position. When Nellie‘a cantankerous neighbor is found murdered on her property the plot thickens. It seem someone is serious about keeping her out of office.

As Nellie’s campaign manager, Lacey finds herself in the unenviable position of being the target of the murderer. Of course her boyfriend, Detective Briggs is none too pleased with her being on the receiving end of threats and violence. It’s a lot of fun trying to ferret out the identity of the killer as well as the motive. This series just continues to delight on so many levels. If you enjoy a good cozy mystery this series should definitely be placed on your to read list.

Enjoyed.

I've read the entire series and have, for the most part, enjoyed all of them. One thing I don't care for is Lola. She seems to feel that everything should revolve around her. I feel sorry for Ryder and can't really figure out what he sees in her. She's self centered and rude. She's not nice to him if he ever expresses an opinion that doesn't match her own. If she is mad at him, she refuses to see him or talk to him. That's not a happy outlook for him if they end up married (I hope not). I really do enjoy this series and most of the characters, but Lola is not one of them. I've already bought the rest of the series, so I hope Lola doesn't make an appearance too often although, seeing as how she's Lacey's best friend, chances of that are not good.

This is the 15th book in the series and I loved it just as much as book 1. Port Danby is one of my favorite book settings, I can picture the entire town while reading. The characters are definitely quirky and very likable. This mystery moves at a fast pace and throws a couple of red herrings in for good measure. Now I need to know is Lola going to be a bridezilla and how delicious are the Port Danby dark chocolate peppermint patties going to be?! I received an ARC of this book and I'm voluntarily providing an honest review.

Yeah we women are on a roll

I really liked this book. Again I am sorry I just could not read book 13 , I am an animal lover and really dislike people who abuse our innocent friends. This was a good read and I agree Lola the cake should not be all chocolate yuk.

Wasn't a huge fan of this story line....it felt a bit anticlimactic and pretty obvious of the "who done it" in this one

Starting with the wedding dress shopping for Lola with her mother was funny and ending with a new mayor was a good way to book end the book.

Semi spoiler: I'm with Lola, chocolate cake for a wedding cake is great. I had one for my wedding with vanilla pudding filling and it was great. It was sweet but not too sweet and it's chocolate!

The murder mystery starts a little predictable and you can see where it's going after a conversation later in the book, but then it's all about getting the evidence.
I liked that Briggs solves the case without Lacey's help because he's not a bumbling cop who doesn't know what he's doing. It bugged me in the last book the new detective being so bubbling for no good reason.

Semi no names spoiler: okay kinda a spoiler for winner of the mayoral race.

I would have liked a few hints to the 11th hour plot twist with the mayoral election. It would have been less of a "we need a reason for 'X' to lose so plot twist."
Also, the ending was a little rushed and didn't need to be.
But it was very enjoyable and I can't wait for the next one. Maybe there will be another proposal.
