My favorite was one called The Gargoyle Temple, it had an interesting concept and I liked the simple art style. Other stories however were a little boring, so I gave it a middling rating.
"Dark Fantasy" is the theme for the third volume of Peow Studios' genre-based comics anthology, and pretty much every featured artist here understands the assignment well. But fantasy as a genre typically doesn't do well with brevity, which is apparent with most pieces here. Highlights were "The Gargoyle Temple" by Hanna K and "An Arrow for the King" by Linnae Sterte, both of whom manage to deliver a lot of the world-development in artwork alone and thus can provide a character-driven narrative with the dialogue. Otherwise, I'd say this volume is mostly on the middling side with respect to most of the stories here.
Received this as a gift & didn’t know what to expect. I’m a huge fan of dark fantasies and seeing all of these artists compiling their art work and all of their different styles into short story comics following the theme was so inspiring to see.
It’s hard to pick one favorite but a few of mine in the volume were: Soldiers of Fortune, An Arrow for the King, Boiling Point, The Gargoyle Temple and Darfan
Highly recommend this to anyone into comic books, graphic novels and who love dark fantasies
this was so cool! All of the comics were so unique in both story and art and it was very fun seeing different artists' interpretation of dark fantasy. I've been rediscovering my love for graphic novels recently and ex mag is a great place to start. definitely looking forward to more volumes in the future !!
Very good! The art is fantastic in every comic, although some of the writing was so-so to me. My favorite is probably "An Arrow for the King," although "Gargoyle Temple" was genuinely quite good as well.
Very unique concepts for all of them, I definitely recommend checking it out if you have the chance. Although idk the PEOW is still in print??!
Pretty art! I was a little lost with some of the stories but enjoyed it nonetheless. I love the sex with a god story the most (shocking i know just not my brand at alllll....). Giving it up to a gargoyle god statue is so metal and so Mary Shelley. She gets it.
Really charming and fantastically various. I loved each comic for so many reasons and found the overall tone and aesthetic delightful. What a treat of a read—each one!
Not everything in this one was for me, but i’m glad these anthologies existed. Rest in peace-ish studio Peow I wish everyone involved luck with what comes in the future :)
Another phenomenal entry from PEOW2. Creepers had me gasping. All of these stories are so strong in concept and execution. Hits all of the notes. Looking forward to picking this up again.
