Rate this book
Five hundred years after the Earth was evacuated, fifteen-year-old Peter Russell awakes inside the Dome--a sealed world created to provide refuge for those left behind.

While he's been in suspended animation, the world has changed around him. Everyone looks the same. Disabilities are nearly nonexistent. And the Dome is ruled by an insane scientist and the minions who worship him like a god.

When his little brother Jacob disappears, Peter must find allies to help him search--and avoid those who would prefer Jacob not exist at all.

Author of the Colonial Exploration Corps, Space Janitor, Recycled World, and Krimson Empire series.

I grew up in the US Pacific Northwest, and after twenty years roaming the country with the US Air Force, I'm back. I have a spouse, three kids, and a dog named Pippin.

I've been an IT guy, a choir director, an executive assistant, a stay-at-home mom, a college instructor, and that lady at the information booth in a tourist town. But writer is the best job ever, because I get to make stuff up. Stuff I wish were true; stuff I'm glad isn't true.

When I'm not writing, I like to knit, read, bake, and ski. I also love to travel.

This story start with Peter coming out of suspended animation with all their plans changed. We have the entire gang back together, however, due to time in and out of the "freezer", their ages are all jumbled up.

The character were well written and their interactions were enjoyable. If was fun seeing the personality of the kids from the previous book showing through as the adults or older children that they had become.

The plot was exciting and well written. The next book can get here soon enough.

Born and Re-born Again

I have fallen in love, both with the Recycled World duology and the author, Julia Huni. Coming to the close of Reduced World was so bittersweet. I loved the ending but I was not prepared to let go of the characters and the world they lived in, not at all.

Packed into the second book are many adventures, intrigues, intense friendships and OMG moments enough to keep your heart racing for hours.

What I liked best about this book is how the author simultaneously keeps you entertained while opening your eyes to question every day assumptions about how people live their lives.

Looking through the eyes of the young adults (and some not so young), and also through the lens of time, I found myself experiencing grief, hopelessness, rage, triumph, excitement and joy.

My only sadness is that this is the end of the story for this World but...I have it on good authority (as in from the author), that several of the characters are going to reappear in future books. Highly recommended.

To wake up in the future...

I enjoyed the series very much! A single mom family go to the Dome, a living experiment with locations world-wide. After being "frozen" & being reawakened, Jake & his brother Peter find their Mom had aged, married the means spirited Director & their friends were now grown up! They were stunned to learn after all that time, Earth hadn't rebalanced herself & was still toxic.

The Director had his own faction of residents who thought of him as a God. The ancients didn't feel like he was a God by any means. The story of how they tried to find another place to live, and see if outside really is as toxic as the Director says is where the v story gets really interesting.

Can't wait to read anything more about this story! Please keep writing! And thank you for using your creativity for good...

This is a very enjoyable book. The author does a good job with the character development and the world building. The plot was fun and there were twists that made it even more interesting. I’ve read the authors Colonial Explorer Corp series and it’s fun to see how the Recycled and Reduced series books tie in with the CEC books. Hopefully there will be a third book in this series. I gave it 5 stars.

Nice conclusion to the current story arc. Don't know if there will be more in the series or not, but this book was pretty good.
This kind of thing has been done many times before, so there's nothing new here, but the story itself is a good one, and probably 50-60 percent of scifi fans will enjoy this one.

Not sure about the audience for this series. Starts very YA but this second in the series has a lot of bullying and violence. The Dome is under the control of a despot. Everyone obeys or worships him. Autism responds to telepathy and rebellion is on. Not a believable ending for the story and felt very different from the first book.

Slow start, good finish.

This book is the second of two in the Recycled World series. Both should be read before reading the Colonial Exploration Corp serie as important characters from this book appear later in time in that CEC series. P attention to Peter and Jake. They are more than they appear at first. A good read!

Book 2 in the series

Continues the story about Peter, Jacob, and their family and friends. Life in the Dome isn’t all that it seems to be and bad things start to happen. A great read.

loved both books.

Julia Huni can spin a good tale and both of these were a lot of fun. Her writing style makes me feel as if I am in the story too.

Safe is a relative term......m

World disaster and a lifeline in the Dome, what could go wrong? Everything as it turns out. The story will have cheering and angry throughout.

This was quite a different story to the previous book in the series - and very good. Suspended animation over, Peter awakes, but things are not as he expected, and neither are the people he expected to see again! I found the plot and writing kept my attention very well, and I was fascinated to see how this would all work out.
I recommend reading the previous book first, but it would still be an enjoyable read, appealing to Young Adults and oldies like me.
