Phoebe Braddock #4

Undeniably Wrong

Rate this book
Every villain is the hero of her own story.

To the world, Lucinda is the woman who broke Adam Fairfax. Her affair was the scandal of the season, a betrayal that left a good man in ruins and painted her as the ultimate antagonist. But no one asked why the marriage collapsed. No one asked what was happening behind the manicured hedges.

Now, the clock turns back.

Step into a warped web of high society schemes and veiled threats, where betrayal is a blood sport and every touch is poison. Trapped in a murky swamp of deception, Lucinda found herself sinking into a world that tainted her soul and her relationships.

While she navigated the treachery of the social elite, a far more lethal danger lurked in the shadows. The man she had put behind bars was free. Every day he had spent in that cell fuelled a single purpose: finding her. And when he did—he had no intention of letting her go.

L. Starla is an Australian author who realized early on that "happily ever after" is much more interesting when it’s preceded by a bloodbath or a deal with a demon.

She crafts worlds where the heroes are questionable and the heroines are worse. Whether readers are looking for the ancient magic of the Winter’s Magic Saga or the forbidden psychological tension of The Phoebe Braddock books, they will find stories built on visceral passion, lethal secrets, and the heavy price of desire.

When she isn’t weaving tales of shadows and steam, she’s likely dominating a tabletop board game or losing herself in a dark RPG—proving that her competitive streak is just as lethal as her plot twists.

Lucinda can’t forget the man who “popped her cherry” on a one-night-stand. Fast forward a few years, when his look-alike saves her from a scoundrel. How could she not fall in love and marry her rescuer? But things get complicated when her fiancé’s brother turns out to be the one who’s been on her mind for so long.
L. Starla has written a compelling romance with a mix of action, broken taboos, and spice. In her multi-POV novel, she lets us experience Lucinda’s struggle with her feelings for two brothers, gives us a glimpse into their sister’s secret longing for her best friend, and keeps us guessing the identity of Lucinda’s stalker. At the end, we’re rewarded with a satisfying conclusion.
I can recommend “Undeniably wrong” to everyone looking for a story about forbidden love.

Lucinda didn't know the name of the man she gave her virginity to. It all started as a stupid game at a ski resort. Truth or dare. There were seven of them on this trip and she was asked if it was true she was still saving herself for marriage. Erin dared her to find a man on the slopes the next day, flirt and do the deed or she would spread the rumor that she slept with Terrance Bristow who was the vilest man on earth.

Erin dared all of them to make out with a stranger and get at least to 2nd base. More points if they got any further. Lucinda could handle 2nd base. The next day Lucinda left her novice friends behind and headed for the black trails of Mount Hotham. She loved skiing and couldn't wait to hit the slopes. As she was on her third run she noticed a man watching her from the tree line. When he was still there on her fourth time, she decided to approach him.

When he challenges her to a race, loser buying drinks she agrees and they take off down the slopes. And as well as she skis, he left her in the dust. And their night of drinks ended up being so much more.

Two years later she is at her best friend's home for a Christmas in July party when she is almost raped by none other than Terrance...only to be saved by the chestnut eyes that she has dreamed about for the last two years. She can't put her finger on what is different, but she is so glad he saved her.

I so love this story! This book is very written and the characters are fully developed and totally relatable. Laelia has done it again with a story full of suspense, twist and turns and amazingly hot sexually chemistry!

This book is full of threats of blackmail on several fronts and the multiple POVs give you even more depth into the story. What you think you know turns out to be not the full truth as you get further into the storyline. If you haven't read Laelia Starla you are missing out!!! I do have to warn those with triggers that there are scenes of adultery, gay relations and borderline incestual relationships.

Prepare for an emotional ride and don't expect this to be an overnight read, but you won't be able to put the book down until you turn the last page.

Undeniably Wrong by author L. Starla was like taking a rollercoaster ride. I loved that it was though because it kept me reading and wanting more. The plots and story lines were incredible, steamy, Romantic. I actually felt that this romance book had it all from a tragic and traumatic situation, marriage, Truth or Dare situations and so much more.
All these plots and story lines is what kept me turning the pages of Deniably Wrong. I'm hooked on this series and the rest of of L. Starla .
Please Note: **This book is for 18+ & mature audiences).

The author starts with the comment: This is a love story, but it is not a romance novel. Take a few moments to consider that statement before you delve into this love story. Also: Trigger Warnings: Cheating, sexual violence, domestic abuse, miscarriage, and sex scenes, including f/f.

Now turn back the clock and look back into a time of High Society, where the world is posisoned by all who dare to participate in that time. Oh and believe me they are all playing the game of cheating, treason and betrayal, and it is a maze by all. A crazy maze and as she find one avenue to go down you find another dead end where the world has come crashing down on someone else. They all participate and it is extremely difficult to know who are the upright, moral and honest, who are those that are evil, and what is the possibility that they are all participating in the cold, nasty game of deceit? This is a story you are not going to want to pass you by! I received t novel from StoryOrigin. This is my true and honest review.

Undeniably Wrong is an interesting mix of well developed characters in a story line that is as complex as it is engrossing. There is lots of angst and tension both emotional and sexual. This is a story tilted toward the darker side of the romance genre. That being said be mindful of content warnings. My only difficulty with this book was all the time shifting between events and characters. I was a bit overwhelmed a couple of times. It felt like lots of moving pieces to keep up with. I guess I lean more linear in my preference for format. That is my reason for 4 stars. Please take the plunge for yourself as the characters are incredible. I received an ARC of this title and appreciate the privilege to share my review with the author and potential readers. I hope it is helpful.
