STORY:
If you know this author’s work, you should know what to expect by now with her dark content. This was all told with Annie’s POV. I love the way it started out as I will not lie, Ryker came off a little crazy not knowing what to think about him. Hunter appeared calm and even calculating. Annie is a cop and is held captive by Ryker and Hunter who are both on the run. I felt like the story was mild to medium dark with certain scenes that were darker. I try not to read too many MFM because I always become attached to one of the male characters more than the other. I found myself really liking Ryker a lot.


CHEMISTRY:
Sexually no issues. It’s a MFM, so there were some spicy scenes. As I always mention in some of my dark romance reviews, you have to be a lover of the trope and with that comes the sexual content as well.


SECONDARY CHARACTERS
There wasn’t anyone that stood out to me, I would want to see a book on.


Overall, likable read love the HEA and be warned of the triggers.

Plot Summary :
Annie is working at a prison. Ryker and Hunter have always intrigued. But what she ddn’t know was that they felt the same. She didn’t know of their plans to escape the prison and she sure as hell did not plan to become an unwilling participant in it. Now she is stuck with them both and does not know when they are going to end her.

Soon things take a turn and it’s not her life at risk. Hunter and Ryker will do anything to protect their innocent prisoner. Things might not be that easy with their common enemy trying to destroy them all.

Overall Opinion :
This book is a standalone romance which was a part of the Violent Tendencies anthology but now is a separate release. I have always been a huge fan of this author and there is no way I was going to miss this short story. It always manages to astound me how she manages to give us the best stories even with a small word length.

This book was short but that does not mean it was not perfect. It contained all that angst and stuff that her books have and I absolutely loved it! A must read for all the dark romance lovers out there!

This is a dark romance read that I read in a hour it was gripping. This is a dark captivate romance that is a standalone and a fantastic read. This book is MFM and is a must read.

Annie is a prison guard that has been through so much. She's transporting Hunter and Ryker. However she didn't know they were planning an escape. After a crash the guys take of witty her as there hostage. She knows there going to kill her and asks a favour of one of the guys seen as she knows her life is ending and is feeling quite calm in away.

I absolutely loved the guys and even though they were in prison I loved how extremely protective they were of Annie. They has great chemistry between them all and a connection that you wouldn't have expected. I loved the twists in this book and the steam was hot.

I absolutely love the way that this author writes and her style of writing is absolutely perfect. I really enjoyed this book and I actually wished it was longer because I couldn't put it down. I wanted to see how these 3 chose to live their lives because after everything Annie and through she has formed an unexpected relationship with 2 overprotective guys that I loved. I loved the storyline and felt it flowed perfectly throughout the whole book.
This is a must read.

I really enjoyed this story!
It was pretty much action from the first chapter. We are introduced to Ryker and Hunter, both have that dominant and crazy personality. Then you have Annie who is just doing her job transferring these two crazy criminals from one prison to another. I don't want to give anything away, but there is lots of action in these opening chapters that will leave you on the edge of your seat!

This was a unique and steamy story. It does feature MFM sex scenes and certainly has a dark elements to the overall plot, so be warned there are triggers!

I really liked how the overall story developed and the ending was brilliant, i loved the little twists in the story and there were lots of times i had my heart in my mouth wondering if the guys would go through with their plans!!!
I just cant wait to read more from this author!

Ich war echt gespannt auf das Buch Hard Times: Eine Dunkle Romanze von C. Hallman. Der Klappentext hat mich richtig neugierig auf das Buch gemacht. Worum es im Buch geht könnt ihr im Klappentext nachlesen. Ich liebe die Geschichte. Bereits nach den ersten Seiten hat mich die Geschichte vollkommen in den Bann gezogen. Die Geschichte ist spannend von Anfang bis Ende. Die Kombination von einer Polizistin und zwei Häftlingen ist absolut explosiv. Ich liebe die Geschichte von Ryker, Hunter und Annie. Annie und die beiden Männer könnten auf den ersten Blick nicht unterschiedlicher sein und trotzdem fühlen sich die drei zueinander hingezogen. Die Charaktere sind super ausgearbeitet und kommen sehr authentisch rüber. Das Cover ist toll und passt super zum Buch. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist absolut fesselnd und mitreißend. Vielen Dank für das tolle Buch. Ich kann das Buch nur weiterempfehlen. Absolute Leseempfehlung. ❤️❤️❤️

Another awesome book from this author. This story is about 2 prisoners Hunter and Ryker who are being transported by a couple of officers in a car instead of the normal van. Annie is a newer officer who isn't happy about this but has to follow the orders of her Superior. During the transport one of the very things she things could go wrong does go wrong. They are stopped by men that show up to help Hunter and Ryker escape and during this they take Annie with them hostage. That's when this story gets crazy, dark, and twisted. But something happens during all of this and feelings start changing and growing. In the end you won't be disappointed its another masterpiece you don't want to miss. I can't wait to see what's next from this author.

Rookie cop - Annie (FMC) gets the job of helping move prisoners Ryker and Hunter to a new prison. Only things dont go to plan when shes ends up being kidnapped. What happens next is that she gets involved an intense 3 way dynamic with both of them using dominance and sex as a way of manipulating her. Only Annie is stuck in this will they, wont they kill her scenario. Its definitely a steamy position to be in for Annie to be in even if it was a precarious one as well. I really liked the plot twists and the slightly dark elements to it. Especially with Annie more towards the end of the book. It really gripped me from start to finish and i enjoyed reading it

Ryker and Hunter are dangerous.

Annie is supposed to help transport two criminals to a different facility. She is not happy when the other officer decides to take his personal car because he doesn't want to travel three hours without air conditioning. Then she becomes a captive to Ryker and Hunter when their friends cause an accident and help them escape. Can she get away before they do away with her? Or will they find other ways to entertain themselves with her as company? This is a great read and I highly recommend it.

Regardless of her telling him that it's unsafe he had his mind made up. He chose comfort over safety because the A/C was out in the transport van. He was breaking every protocol to get his way, such as leaving her alone with the prisoners to get some snacks. There wasn't even any divider to protect them from these harden criminals in his car, but all her reasoning fell on deaf ears.
According to his file Ryker is a thirty-one year old is volatile, monstrous and a borderline psychopath. He takes pride in torturing people before he actually him. Hunter Lewis his counterpart is thirty years old he's no better with the crime that he commits, he's just the calmer one of the two. He's highly intellectual and is more reasonable than Ryker. The guys was eying Annie from the moment they saw her and teased her relentless on the way. About thirty minutes away from the transfer facility the transport car was ambushed by some of Ryker and Hunter's associates. Ryker then strangled officer Jeff with his handcuff hands causing a blowing out the tires causing an accident. Ryker then kill the other police officer and the bunch abducted officer Annie. Annie didn't want any part of their scheme and was afraid of them. But they hadn't have a woman in years so they took her with plans to kill her later on.
However, once they got to their hideout they were completely different from what they file say about in the way that they were treating her. But she knew that she could not lower her guard around these men. She did everything that they asked of her because she would do anything to survive her ordeal. They wanted to keep her but they also worry about their freedom. Annie only joined the force in order to get the person that killed her mom. She feels responsible that she was not able to stop it and wants revenge and to right the wrong that destroyed her life. She's now jaded and doesn't believe in gray or black area. Ryker and Hunter was every protective of her and soon their feelings started to grow for each other. The guys were at odds with each other in what to do with Annie. Ryker wanted to keep her but Hunter was worried that the longer they waited it's going to get worse for them. Ryker as a dry humor and would tell Annie every day that he would soon kill her and even promise to make it as painless as possible per her request. Their chemistry was sizzling with a not so intense scenes.

During a prison transport, a coordinated attack leaves the senior officer dead, the prisoners free, and the wet-behind-the-ears rookie a hostage. Annie Williams is terrified of Ryker Hall & Hunter Lewis, assuming they want what all heterosexual male prisoners want after a long prison stay. And they do want sex, but the seduction rather than outright assault confuses her senses. They keep her prisoner in some sort of bunker, and make no bones over the fact that her life has a rapidly approaching expiration, but she doesn't hate it when the three of them have sex together.

On what Annie thinks is her final day, Hunter is so conflicted he has to be drugged up so he doesn’t interfere. She and Ryker have one final fuck. He has promised to make it painless, to kill her in her sleep. As she is drifting off, tired of fighting, she asks that Ryker do her a final favor. She asks him to kill the step father who got away with beating her mother to death.

Just then, alarms go off. They are being raided by the cops. Ryker chains her to a pipe then steals the bracelet Annie has told him is her last connection to her Mom. Ryker tells her that the bracelet will guarantee she finds them. I suspect in that moment, when her last wish was of revenge, Ryker could finally justify keeping her.

Months later, Annie tracks them down. She stole money from impound and made criminal use of department resources to do it, but she found them. She books a room in the same motel, and when she wakes, they found her back. After much sex is had, she wakes up with her bracelet back on her wrist and her lovers gone. She is contemplating a fresh start, having come too far to return to her old life, when the guys come in carrying breakfast.

They tell her they have a surprise for her and they bring her to a warehouse where her evil stepdad is wrapped up like a present, ready for whatever form of justice she wants to deliver.

I’m gonna start off by saying that this book had so much potential… the beginning was everything someone could want for a Officer/Prisoner(s) captive romance, especially with how the men acted when they first met. However it went totally different than how I thought it would— the men kidnapped the FMC (after saving her from dying) and brought her to this bunker, only to end up saying that they have to kill her because her being there would cause issues… they literally kept talking about how they HAVE to kill her all the way until 80% in the book. The men had other friends in the house and NONE of them liked the FMC, in fact one tried to SA her and they still let him live… one of the men’s sister was there and was only brought up like 3 times, no idea why she was in even in the book or a background character (she also had an attitude towards the FMC). The FMC was not smart at all, she was supposed to be a cop but couldn’t even stand-up for herself that well, let alone make sure she had a weapon on her at all times like she claimed she did. The night the FMC was supposed to die by being gassed in the room by (of course) one of the men’s friends, the cops ended up showing up so they spared the FMC and took her bracelet so she had to go looking for them. For some reason the FMC decided to become a criminal while looking for them, and of course when she finds the men the first thing she does is hop on their d!ck. There was no romance, not even obsession like I thought it would’ve been from the beginning. The only “obsession” they had was more of lust for the FMC, since that’s all they used her for…
There needed to be grovel from the men, they needed to show the FMC that they actually want her and not just lust her. It was so disappointing, especially after reading their captive, which was amazing.
The only reason I’m not giving it a 1 is because although I didn’t love this book, I still didn’t DNF it… it was a small stand-alone, and the beginning I did enjoy for the most part tho. But like I said, it had so much more potential.

Okay not sure what I was supposed to think but I when I read the insert I was like okay I have to see where they are headed and since this is a new author to me I decided to take a chance and I will say this once you start you won’t stop until the last page is turned that is for sure….I kind of kept reading past the insert (I stop mid read of another book) 😊 Annie is a police officer fairly new paired with a pig of a male cop who thinks he knows it all makes decision, breaks the rules like he is the head man in charge deciding to switch the deliver van to his car to transport two criminals Ryker is a little crazy …..well he is a lot of crazy, Hunter is calm, calculated both dark and both sexy as all get out now that they have taken care of the pig driver her partner, kidnapped her (with a little help) and she is scared, wondering what they are going to do to her considering what she has read in their files. She learns more than the files explained about them they showed her there is more to them than what was portrayed or written yeah, they did the things they said but there is a reason why and she sees it especially when things take a turn putting her life at risk they both do everything to protect her despite her being their prisoner but they will keep her safe from their enemy but where are they headed will she be saved by her fellow officers, will the guys tire of her killing, will she escape, will they develop something so much deeper, and where are they headed happiness or what???

Finding freedom from your prison

Hard Times is a story that really grabs you and made me wonder "what the heck was she thinking". The story is about Annie Williams, a young policewoman, who is helping transfer two hardened but very sexy convicts, Hunter Lewis and Ryker Hall. During the tranport their van is stopped by men who are there to bust Hunter and Ryker free. Along the way they take the beautiful and sexy Annie with them as a hostage. Annie is sure she will end up dead as these two are murderers but it seems that Hunter and Ryker have other plans for her first......and what naughty plans they are indeed!!!
This is a story that grabbed my attention right from the start and held it through to the end. Be warned that there are a fair number of potential triggers but if you are okay with these then you are rewarded with a well written, fast-paced, exciting and intense book. The story-line does not let up and has an amazing amount of steamy sexy passion which will burn your Kindle up. The characters may not be for everyone but they are interesting and well written. The story has some interesting twists to it that make it more engaging. I really liked this book.

This book brings us Ryker, Hunter and Annie. Annie is a rookie cop who is working with her partner Jeff (who is a real jerk), are moving prisoners Ryker and Hunter to a different facility. On their way, they are stopped by men who are there to help Ryker and Hunter escape. They take Annie hostage. Annie has read their bios, and so she knows what crimes they have committed in the past, and she is sure she is going to die. However, Ryker and Hunter have other plans for her. There is no one of importance in her life, so Annie isn't scared after hearing they are going to kill her. Before they get caught, Annie tells Ryker about the man she is actually looking for who killed her mother. Ryker promises he will take care of the matter. Once Annie is found, she becomes a different person, trying to locate Hunter and Ryker. When she does, they all are happy to see each other. There is an unexpected love between the three of them. They also have a surprise for Annie, which she can't believe they did for her. This was a very unique story, which I absolutely loved. I HIGHLY recommend this book. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

Annie is a female police officer with an interesting past. She and another officer are scheduled to move two inmates but during transit, she gets kidnapped by said inmates. Ryker is the crazy alpha and Hunter is sweet but stabby type. It’s a battle of wills and counting down until she dies. She builds a unexpected connection with the guys and when is comes time for them to kill her, she gets a surprise she wasn’t expecting!

Entertaining to read.
Annie is a police officer who is responsible for the transportation of two criminals to another centre.

What she wasn't expecting was that both Ryker and Hunter would take her hostage after killing her partner when their vehicle is involved in a prison escape.

Hunter and Ryker both are hardened dangerous criminals who both have taken a liking for Annie.

Annie finds herself doing whatever she can to stay alive snd survive been taken hostage by two unbalanced criminals.

Time passes and Annie finds herself being confronted and confused by her growing attachment and developing feelings she has for them both.

Each man has such a disfunctional relationship with each other that seems to bond more with Annie being held againsther will.

Finding themselves surrounded by police they leave Annie chained to the wall in the bunker and escape.

Six months later Annie is obsessed with finding them to retrieve what they stole from her.

A quick steamy sexy read about a complicated arrangement and a journey of discovery.

What was supposed to be a simple prisoner transfer turned into something that will forever change the lives of Hunter, Ryker, and Annie. Annie has a hidden that she hasn't shown most. She doesn't have friends and after years long death of her mom she has no family. She only has a deep secret that keeps her going. Hunter and Ryker are more than meets the eye more than what is written in their files. Something goes wrong in the transfer and Annie is taken hostage instead of killed. Now that the rush of the transfer is over she is left alone with the pair. The chemistry wasn't hard to deny when they were alone. Annie may be enjoying her time with them more than she thought she would but she knows she has to be on borrowed time. Things that happened to her while she was held hostage will forever changed her life. Though when they reappear her life she will get the closer she has waited years for and the love and peace she never thought she would find.

A fast paced, pager turner story.
I was hooked from the very start and couldn’t put it down.
While not being a long book it packed a lot.
And it actually was more than what I had expected.
I really liked all three characters.
Each one brought their own uniqueness to the plot.
Ryker is the one that’s a bit unpredictable and wild.
He acts without planning.
He’s also the take charge one.
Hunter is the quiet one.
He’s the plan and execute type.
What Ryker and Hunter have in common, they are violent men and now escaped criminals.
Annie is a twenty one year old fresh rookie.
She is one of two assigned to relocating the two prisoners.
She may be young but she’s smart and there’s so much more to her than meets the eye.
While transporting the criminals things go horribly wrong.
And from here starts things these three never count on nor see coming.
A sexy suspenseful story that had me surprised with being so much more than that teaser of a blurb.

Hard Times by C Hallman is a scary twisted story of violence, kidnapping, and fear. Annie is young, scarred emotionally, and dreams of vengeance for her murdered mother. Hunter and Ryker are convicts who will do anything to escape: a road trip to another prison is perfect. Her partner for said trip is a disgusting excuse for a superior officer who’s only looking out for himself and he doesn’t care that she’s an innocent victim of his greed.

C Hallman uses an extremely well written dialogue to convey Annie’s terror, her fatalistic mindset, and her sexual attraction to Hunter and Ryker. They’re gorgeous, dangerous, and beyond dirty. A seriously messed up situation that is fraught with danger, tension, and a passionate desire that they try to convince themselves is only lust. There is so much in this story and it’s all freaking fantastic! Their ending is amazing in so many ways!.

Two cops, Annie Williams (our MFC) and a man named Jeff are transferring hardened prisoners Ryker Hall and Hunter Lewis (MMC’s) from the prison their presently at. One of them, Ryker is even a psychopath. Trouble starts when Ryker throws the chain around his wrists around the driver Jeff’s neck, causing a wreck. Two other guys, friends of Ryker and Hunter are waiting to take them to a safe place.
Annie has had a sad past that lead her to be a cop.
Ryker being a psychopath teases Annie about killing her. Hunter is calmer around her.
This book is very dark. Be aware of that going in. It’s dark and primal themes may be too much for some.. And relationships between the main characters are MMF. It’s a fact paced story that starts right of at the beginning and reads fast. I read in one setting.

Cover was pretty intense but the blurb was fascinating and knowledge of the author had me requesting this book. If you haven’t read this author you need to.

What did I like? Unique and refreshing comes to mind about this book. It’s dark, angsty, and intense as Annie falls prey to her two kidnappers. Her emotional response to her surroundings is a surprise but there is a HEA.

Would I recommend or buy? I really enjoy this author and her angsty books with dark overtones. If you like dark reads then this one was great. It was not as long as I would have liked nor fleshed out as much as I’d like but still a great read. Three and a half stars!
