Very conflicted with this series. Love the action and the world they’re in but the actions of Cora and Rush and even some of the other characters really pulls me out of the story. It’s very childish at times which takes away from the significance of the freaking war they’re fighting. Will I read the next in the series though? YEP.

I enjoyed all three books, and was glad to see when I started reading, that it was a trilogy and all books were out.
Imagine my disappointment when I learned there was a fourth book? Well, it wasn't much of a disappointment, because, hey, we get to continue reading about Cora and Flare and Ash and everyone, , so yay.

Now, please give me the 4th book!

Where to begin with this one.

The first book left me craving for more and this one gave me everything I need! I could immediately start reading this book again and I knew exactly what was happening. I'm just falling more and more in love with the bond between cora and flare! I mean come on she's his pretty. I want a dragon to!! (Obviously with consent!)

So back to the story. Both Cora and Rush have to go through their own journey and find new allies from the dragons and elves.... which is harder than it looks cause of the decades old feeling, which I understand. I felt like the anger and beyrayel in this book made it feel more real in my eyes. I mean forgiving something like this big is very hard so that made it more real in my eyes.

The things Rush and Cora go through makes me want to jump in the book and just hug them but I can't. I fell in love with them and their story is not finished!!! I want so much more 😍😍😍 so for those of you who like spicy books, there's a bit more in it than the previous books so I would rate it a 1 🌶 spicy point. But if you guys know me o don't hand those out easily. But honestly I don't mind the lack of it in this book!

To sum it al up: I'm obsessed and I'm awake late at night writing this review cause I loved it and I can't wait to read the next one!!

I really wish I liked this series more. I pushed my way through it, and I shouldn't have. It just wasn't for me. I think I only continued because of how much I loved the MMC. I was also really intrigued by all the different species and their history. I was particularly interested in the shamans and their steeds.

But the FMC was really bland and very inconsistent. She seemed like a strong, headstrong, independent woman at first. And she always seemed excited when she found out a woman was in charge somewhere. But then other times she seemed to unconsciously bash women who weren't like her. She prided herself on her annoying and sexist "not like the other girls" attitude. I also have no idea why everyone loved her and caved to her opinions so often. She wasn't awful or anything, but she was not nearly as persuasive or loveable as the author intended. And I honestly agreed with the other characters when they pointed out how hypocritical she was pretty often.

I also hated Callon. I thought he was rude and closeminded. I hated how much of the last book focused on him. And all of the other characters are sorta forgettable. I really wanted to love Bridge and Lilac and even Captain Hurricane, but we never got to see more than one side of them. They literally only existed to help the MC's.

But the worst part of this series was the dialogue. I don't think I've ever said this about a book before, but there was honestly too much. There were not nearly enough descriptions of what was going on. The author replaced creative and descriptive writing with just having the characters talk about what was happening. And since so much was said into their minds, all the different types of fonts got confusing. Choosing to have Callon's font be all caps was a terrible choice. It always looked like he was yelling and I would have to backtrack to remember to read it in a different tone (even though the tone was rarely described). And so many conversations were extremely repetitive. I felt like a large majority of the book was the characters talking about things we just read about, so it was like we read the same information two or three times. But even worse was the way the characters talked. It didn't match the time period or history at all. It was way too modern. I remember the first time the FMC said "jesus" as a curse. It shows a lack of attention to detail by the author. We have this entire fantasy world without any sort of christianity or other organized religion, so who is jesus in this world and why would that ever be a phrase/curse they used. This type of language just kept taking me out of the experience.

FURY, Fuse book 3

To tell the truth, I generally avoid reading books that are part of a series in which the last book is not available for a month or more from the time I first began reading the series. I also avoid reading books where one or more characters 'shift' into something else. For some reason these 'generalities' were not applicable in the FUSE Series case. After accidentally beginning book one (Fuse), I was 'drawn into the story and in the case of book two (Ashe) I was so caught up that the ending caught me completely off guard and I was totally unprepared for the ending. Fortunately, book three (Fury) was on hand to continue on, however, after finishing 'Fury' I now find that I must wait 6-8 months to find out what happens leaving me with an imaginative imagination of 'possibilities'. Dear me, how can I wait that long for the true ending. BUT, unfortunately , I must.

THANK YOU! I am blown away..

You know how when your reading an amazing story and when your at work or having to do other things,, you think about it.?.... That is these books...Ooo my these books are all the way. This series develops the relationships between the characters, who have become fused with me as real spots in my heart, its not rushed, slighted, nor cheapened. I am fully immersed on the journey of which must be fulfilled. Never disappointed in the stops along the way, you won't be either. The author has a dream to put this on the screen, and I am all in with that dream. E.L. Todd, I kept saying this to people as I've been reading OMG the cinematography alone. Not to mention, the story.
Real issues, meets, fantasy, meets magic, wonder, and good old fashioned CHARACTER, which is in short supply these days. I am blown away, I am telling everyone who will listen. BRAVO.

Can't Be Mad

Before starting any series, regardless of genre, the first thing I do is check to be sure said series is complete. I am not a patient reader. If I finish a story and find that the next installment isn't immediately available, I'm much more likely to slam my device shut, mutter curses under my breath, cast aspersions on the author"s lineage and lie awake nights plotting his\ her torture.

If you are of a similar nature, don' t be afraid to start this series before the next book is finished. Each story is better than the last. The characters become richer, the plot a little deeper and the emotions a little stronger as our heroine works to rebuild a broken society and create a sense of community where none previously existed.

A lovely bit of escapism in a cutthroat world of political extremes where there seems to be no laying aside of personal agendas and egos for a common good.

read the the first three books in this series in 3 days

I really like the concept of this series. The big bad guy is a pretty terrible guy. The hero is solid in her foundation and she is surrounding herself with allies that will stand a long side her as they fight the king.

Cora is strong and an all around decent person. She makes those around her better and she is steadfast in her beliefs. She is trying to make an alliance with dragons, elves, dwarves and humans and she is the only one that can do it.

Be prepared to be confused with the dialogue in this one. So many dragons all mind speaking at the same time, they blend and almost sound like the same voice at times.

I want to know the timeline a lot better. It is unclear and keeps touching on it but makes it even more fuzzy.

Enjoyable journey

The author has created an enjoyable journey with fantastical beings and obstacles that take more than strength to overcome. This third book continues where the last stopped. Rush and the crew must find the dwarves while trying to understand the cryptic messages of a witch. Cora must somehow get an alliance with elves who still do not like her. Many truths are revealed in this book, but there are a few details to be discovered. I liked the character development and relatable characters. I enjoyed the battle scenes and banter with the characters. Aside from the occasional cuss word, and the fighting, this book was definitely YA friendly. If this series is on your TBR list, move it to the top. Or better yet, just read it.

I was waiting to have a full day off to read this great book. I didn't know that it was going to relate so much to my life now. The feeling of losing someone is described perfectly and how empty you can feel. This is a fantasy book with adventure and fighting for what is right. All the characters have their story but is so perfectly connected throughout the book, and it adds so much to the overall plot. I knew there were going to be some unfinished events... so of course we are going to have a 4th book, but I will wait happily wait for it. Thanks to the authors that with their great words helps us readers find peace in difficult times.

Nailed it!!!

The last book was a little 'lovey-dovey' for me, but it was a good story. I enjoyed the unique magical approach and concept of the fuse. Thus, I read FURY to continue the journey. Well, you nailed it in this book! I loved it. The twist of Death magic, the way all things are related, the weakness and sha!e of many but ownership by few. These things are so relevant to our real lives. Just so you know, I Friedman the cemetery too. I look forward to the next book, it has moved to the top of my "next book to read" list. Magic is real; if only in our hearts, it is real. JWM

The third book of this series

Another great read and story , continues to follow Cora quest to release the dragons, elves, humans, witches etc from King Lux cruelty and be free once more. This follows on from book two.
E. L. Todd did another excellent job writing this series, but I'm definitely disappointed that to finish this series that the final book for me to read will cost £9:99p and I'm not amused. Being a pensioner on a budget no can do unless I don't eat ,sorry E.L.Todd but I won't be reading the last book in this series.
Recommend yes Gave it 5***** stars. Because it is worth it. Can only assume that the characters win there WAR.

Great series of books

I just finished the third book. I am excited to read the fourth book . All three of the books are hard to put down until the end. I hope there will be a fifth book. When I am reading these books, I feel like I am a part of what happens in the book. I do hope Rush and Cora can find a way to be together however it ends. It is a fascinating, wonderful book to read. If Amazon can publish the books, I would like to see prime make a series from them or even SYFI.

love it!!!

Round of applause!!! I know a lot of people are frustrated that this is not a trilogy but to be honest this is such an amazing work and it covers so many different plot lines and has so much world building I would be devastated if the story was complete in only three books. I’m looking forward to the next read, I love the development that I’m seeing in all of our characters. I love the growth. Oh and I love Callon (😆) he’s an elf after my own heart and I’m looking forward to the next installment, great job author!

I've gone back and forth on what I think about this book. I love the characters, the writing, the world, the concept- pretty much everything. Everything but the pace of how things are moving, which is GLACIAL. The last two books have been 600+ pages, and it feels like barely anything has happened. That's really my only complaint. If I didn't love the characters and the world so much, I likely would have given up ages ago. As it is, I'm a bit attached to them so I'll likely be reading the last book. Fingers crossed it doesn't disappoint!

Fury

Wow!!!! This is a great 3rd addition to the series. I’m glad that orphaned child becomes a force to be reckoned with. Cora is definitely the force behind movement and is able to pierce barriers that are still intact yet give her a crack to allow her love to flow through. All these different pieces are separated by hate, distrust and fear, yet Cora comes along and begins to break down these artificial barriers and is beginning to fuse them together as a Force to be Reconciled with

Unforgettable!!
This is such a great series! Lots of action and dragons…who could ask for more? I was a little disappointed that the third book was not on audible because I listen while I run and drive. Hopefully Slay will be on audible.
I think it would be a great idea if E.L.Todd could find the right team to make the series into a TV adaption like she wants to. As long as they stay true to the story.
Really looking forward to the next book!

WHERE IS BOOK 4

I could say OMG a thousand times. Or a million. You get the picture and it would not be enough to convey how excited I was to star Book 3. Now almost overnight it is finished. Now for the long wait to get Book 4. I could come up with all those fancy words to describe the plot, the animals, & the characters but NOT!
I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

There’s two reviews of this book, the first is me from 2022 and the second me from 2025 and damn it’s still one of the BEST series I ever read/listened
2022

Oh Goddess this is by far one of the BEST series I read in my poor existence… I’m serious I feel each emotion of the characters, so much guilt, sorrow, heartbreak… the author made a more than marvelous job here , it’s a masterpiece. This book start not where the last one ended , the first chapter we can see what will happen to Callon when he’s back home , that Bitch of a queen doesn’t deserve to sit in the throne , she’s weak and jealous.

I absolutely think that is more about Mathilda than meets the eye, and I’m never wrong hahaha. Damn Cora can talk with her father … and he is … suck a honorable man , everything could be so more easy if he wasn’t dead , he’s the epitome of what a king should be , what every ruler should be. Whoa that thing about the Shamans really got me by surprise…didn’t saw that coming.

OMG Ashe is sooooo cute in his eternal grunting hahaha , he considers Cora his hatchling !! He and Collum are like two fathers for her , it’s pretty amusing hahahaha. Oh Goddess Cora is really powerful… like REALLY POWERFUL!!! She more badass than never !!!i love the relationship between Cora and Rush …it’s refreshing even if they aren’t really together, the friendship, the companionship… it’s really beautiful , but the sexual tension ? The incredible chem? Damn it’s another level .

Nooooooooooooo I can’t believe this is happening again … seriously it’s must be a curse because AGAIN I thought this series was complete… oh Goddess have mercy on my soul it’s the second series I read that isn’t complete … damn me to the pits , I should know by now that just because a book has a cover doesn’t mean the damn thing is released… fuck , the cliffhanger is killing me bad … no , to say the truth I’m already dead and just waiting for the next book , argh !!! And will be released only in may ? Are you kidding me ? By then I’ll be full in hell (university) … one of the best series I ever read and I’ll have to wait AGAIN …

11/12/ 2025

Well… that cliffhanger at the end of book two still gets me every damn time. Even knowing what’s coming, it hits like a punch to the chest and I’m left staring at the ceiling like “why do I do this to myself?”

I’m loving Cora’s interactions with Ashe so much. It’s hilarious how Ashe sometimes mirrors Flare, throwing out completely random judgments about people based on one tiny detail and deciding instantly whether he likes them or not. It feels comforting, like Cora still has a piece of Flare with her even when he’s not physically there.

Rush, though… gods. He’s so damn sad. Heartbreak incarnate. Their time on Mist Island was everything, the purest happiness either of them had, and now it’s just… over. Or at least paused. Cora is back in Eden Star, training, negotiating, trying to convince the elves to join the alliance, while Rush is off trying to find the dwarves. And they barely talk through the mental link anymore. That distance hurts so much. You can feel it.

Cora is clearly miserable, but she hides it behind duty and stubbornness like she always does. Ashe, on the other hand, refuses to acknowledge how much being away from Rush and Flare is tearing her apart. It’s painful to watch, honestly. Everyone is coping badly, just in different flavors.

Queen Delwyn remains a selfish, insufferable bitch. Full stop. She did not deserve King Tiberius, not even a little bit. That man was wasted on her.

Then Rush’s storyline turns straight-up horror movie. He goes searching for the dwarves to form an alliance and instead ends up lost in a massive underground cave system with giant murderous orcs hunting them. Lost. In the dark. Underground. With monsters. Absolutely not. My anxiety spiked just listening to it. And the worst part? The dwarves aren’t even in a position to help anyone. They’re barely surviving themselves.

That part where the dwarves sacrifice themselves so Rush and the others can escape? Devastating. Quietly heroic. One of those moments that sits heavy in your chest.

And then—YES. One of my favorite parts. When Cora goes with the crew to rescue the dwarves. FINALLY she’s physically with Rush again. Sure, they’re not “together” the way they were on Mist Island, but the tension? The chemistry? The unspoken longing? It’s suffocating in the best way. Every look, every word feels loaded.

I also loved the author’s note at the end. It’s funny, heartfelt, and makes the whole experience feel more personal, like she knows exactly what she’s doing to us emotionally and is only a little sorry about it.

And then…
That cliffhanger.
Again.

I swear, the first time I read this, it must have actually killed me. Thank every goddess that the next book is already out, because I would not have survived waiting.

This book hurts in the quiet ways. Separation, longing, duty pulling people apart even when love is still screaming underneath it all. Rush and Cora’s story in this installment is painful, tense, and emotionally exhausting in the best possible way.

Between horror-movie cave sequences, heartbreaking sacrifices, political frustration, and aching romance, this book tightens everything instead of resolving it—and that cliffhanger proves it.

I’m stressed. I’m invested. I’m absolutely starting the next book immediately.

Just gets better and better

I thought after the second book, the story could not get better but it did. There is so much fighting with dragons, elves, and dwarves! Cora keeps getting stronger and the reader feels for her being all alone and trying to fit in. The author does an amazing job of getting the reader entranced into the different lands and people. I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens.

How to do the undoable.

Action, adventure, close calls and brief breaks of rest.
Cora, Rush and friends have survived, so many close calls, some with the help of unexpected sources and new friends as they continue to add to their Allies to fight King Lux.
This series will keep you entranced and eager know what happens next.

Okaaay!

Cora is doing the unbelievable and it looks like they have a chance at winning the war. But even as they get allies it always seems to not be enough.

Some questions I still need answered - what is the Elf queen hiding, who is Mathilda and what is Cora, is she elf human, dragon or something else entirely?

I was hooked on the first book but I had a few issues with it. I do not like their dialogue AT ALL. Cora talks as if she's living in the 21st century and not a mythical period. It feels like the story lacks thorough detail of the surroundings or the author ran out of time to fully develop it. The author did not waste any time getting to the main plot of the series but it feels very rushed for strangers who just met each other and fell in love.

The series started off strong but the writing style has made this difficult to finish. I am at 88% and want it over.
This particular book is reading like immature fanfiction. With 'gonna' 'gotta' 'that oughta do it' 🙄
Frustrating as I like the ideal and the beginning of the series
Unsure I will continue with the series.
