An excellent book or two books in one. The great thing about these books is that they give me tools and suggestions but emphasis that I have to put in the work to make the tools and suggestions work.
I did enjoy the CBT part of the book mores as to me it makes more sense and is measure able, but whilst reading the book the mindfulness book and thinking about the exercises it reminded me of the awareness/attention/focus exercises I learned whilst practicing martial arts. When I started looking at the books through that lens, a little of things fell into place for me.
A great book for self development and offers a number of tools and exercises that can be used. With the message that not everything will work for everyone, you can choose to try them and keep what works for you and then build from there.
Love, love, love. Where have these books been? As a 2-in-1 bundle, they are two separate books. I found the author's writing style to be very easy to follow, especially with such a heavy topic. In the last year, I have slowly become very interested in both of these topics and was grateful for such a helpful and informative guide to the inter workings of both. There are some overlaps between the books but I felt that it was necessary and explained somewhat differently due to the different topics. For anyone who is interest in self-care and emotional growth. These books are a must.

I have been reading and reviewing this author's work for several years, and I always find her books to be well written and researched. She often writes on hot-button topics like mindfulness and hygge, but her writing and information are usually a cut above others who write on the same topics. I found the two books in this bundle helpful and filled with excellent information. Here are my original reviews:
Review of Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Insightful, Practical Guide to CBT I have read several books by Olivia Telford, the others on minimalism and hygge, and I was interested to see what her take on a very different topic like cognitive behavioral therapy would be. I have read several books on CBT and found them to be confusing or impractical. As CBT is grounded in science, it needs to be explained in a way that a layperson could understand and ideally in a practical manner as well, which pretty much every other book I've read on CBT has failed at. I'm happy to say that Ms. Telford has made both an easily understandable book and a practical one. She clearly lays out what CBT is, including its history and variations. Then she leads the reader through ways that CBT can help in a variety of situations like depression, insomnia, anxiety, addiction, and even nonclinical mental issues like procrastination. She gives several tools along the way, most of which can be used for more than one problem. While each individual section is brief, if followed, it would give you insight into your thoughts and give you ways to break the chains that hold you back. All in all, I thought this book was a wonderful introduction to cognitive behavioral therapy as well as a practical, hands-on guide if you believe self-help would assist you with any of the book’s subjects.
Review of Mindfulness: Practical Exercises to Help with Mindfulness Mindfulness definitely seems to be a buzzword these days. This book attempts to define it and help you use it to help your life, both dealing with the negatives and cultivating the positives. The book is relatively simple and straightforward beginning with the definition of mindfulness, some simple exercises, and meditation information and techniques. The first section after that goes into detail about destructive negatives, like stress, anger, and anxiety, that mindfulness could potentially help with. The next section looks at how mindfulness can be used to help build better habits (or beat bad ones), relationships, and perhaps a better life. Both of these practical sections have a little article about the topic and include mindfulness exercises that the author believes will help. One tiny little thing bugged me. The author clearly states at the beginning that mindfulness is not meditation, yet she includes meditation in the subtitle, perhaps making the potential reader think that meditation is the only way that mindfulness can be achieved or that this book is only about mindfulness through meditation. As noted above, meditation does have its own chapter, but the exercises in the rest of the book don't focus on meditation.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I wanted to read this set of books because I want to understand better the issues that a young relative is having with extreme anxiety. I liked that there is a lot of detailed explanation to explain each of the issues, what causes them, how to support improvement of the issues. Each chapter has a nice summary to wind up the concepts I had just read about. There are separate sections for anxiety, depression and other issues so it was easy to focus on a single issue without too much extra information taking away from that particular topic. Destructive thought patterns are not easy to change, but I feel like I can be more understanding and supportive after reading this book (i.e. first half)
I ended up really enjoying the second book which is on mindfulness purely for myself. It is such a simple concept, yet even though I have been reading about it and trying to practice it, it can be difficult when things are going wrong. Like with the first book (first half), there are really nice explanations of the history of mindfulness and it's benefits along with how to practice. The summaries are great reminders to read just on their own as a review of the book.

Olivia is an excellent writer. If you want the basics on these topics, these books will give you exactly that - in an easy-to-understand structure and with extremely practical application steps. The first book in this bundle I endorse wholeheartedly - it is basic, but gives all the foundation pieces to really start to understand CBT. The second book, Mindfulness, equally has excellent information and practical how-tos. The only drawback is that it seems to come from a deeply Buddhist viewpoint - most of these techniques and concepts can also be found in the Christian spiritual disciplines (for example, the mantra prayer could be substituted with the Jesus prayer). One of my favorite exercises is the gratitude exercise - acknowledging what is without minimizing the bad parts, but taking time to be with what is good at the same time.

I highly suggest this book to anyone looking for practical, simple techniques to lighten, lift and improve your way through life. The author uses terms and explanations that are very understandable with exercises that are useable, immediately; addressing a comprehensive set of both serious (for example, addiction or depression) as well as everyday challenges (for example, insomnia or problem solving). The two books bundled into one, go together like salt and pepper, Life is better with both. The discussion of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) provides tools and insights for living better with my thoughts/feelings while the part on Mindfulness improves life through a clear and centered consciousness. The author builds in recommendations for when to seek outside help and offers additional resources, such as an online community and audio version. This is a book that I am going to reread and keep practicing to deepen the benefits from the wealth of information it offers.
This book is an excellent intoduction to the goals of CBT. Whether self examing your life or deciding to seek therapy for assistance in navigating your life, this book will give you a full understanding of CBT. The author gives practical examples with step by step instructions to start helping yourself. The last chapter which speaks to mindfullness therapy or MBCT explains how Cognitive Therapy helps you identify your thoughts and take actions to improve your behavior, while Mindfullness is focusing on being present in each moment and accepting your thoughts. The book is well layed out and you can go to a chapter that speaks to you. If you are wanting to enlist the help of a therapist you will know to ask if they use CBT or MBCT to further your journey.

I join with you and all those who have contributed to your “classic” new book Its a 2 in 1 Bundle on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness and provides powerful strategies to reduce stress and relieve anxiety. I have studied quite extensively both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness. These uplifting, healing, and scientifically backed techniques are not only relevant and timely for today. I make haste to clearly state that it has been established that the Covid-19 global pandemic has had and continues to devaste the minds of children and families already struggling with extremely challenging environmental issues. Therefore, on the basis of the foregoing statements I highly recommend “ 2 in 1 Bundle on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness” as a MUST read. By everyone. It’s a CLASSIC.

This was an unexpectedly extremely interesting book to read. The author does an excellent job of explaining cognitive behavioral therapy. The book left me wanting to use cbt methods to improve aspects of my own life. It is mind boggling to know that the Lord created us in such an intricate way. Trying to understand how our minds work is overwhelming. I love how this book makes it a bit easier to understand. The mindfulness portion of the book is fascinating. I can''t wait to simply begin to use mindfulness toward the goal of simplifying my life. This is not my first experience with Ms. Telford's books. I have enjoyed each one of I have the opportunity to read.

I found this book very helpful. This is an easy read that can help anyone with issues that sabotage their self esteem.
I think this book would be helpful for anyone at different times in their life. The book focuses primarily on the main issues that can cause negative, unhelpful thoughts. Each chapter explains the issue and how to overcome each problem individually.
The book is not a replacement for therapy but rather a guide book explaining how to look at various issues in a more healthy way.
I can see myself using this as a self help reference when I start thinking negatively about various things affecting my mood.

A layman friendly how-to-handle common mental afflictions guide. This book clearly listed and defined those thought-generated behaviors that can impact anyone at any time in their lives to varying degrees. The impairments could range from temporary to consistent, which is when a professional is required for assistance to overcome. Each condition has the power to negatively impact your own life and all the relationships or aspirations in it. Taking the time to read and do the exercise work will help you better understand yourself and others in your life to increase your own success and happiness.
I really loved this book, it has so much easy to read/understand information to help you look at the things you’re struggling with from an objective view. I really appreciated the step by step breakdown of what an individuals challenges can look like with depression, anxiety etc, and the easy to implement solutions that you can work through at your own pace. I think my favourite part about this book was realizing that the way you’re feeling, the things you’re struggling with, are real, valid, and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I am currently doing an online CBT course and wanted some extra materials to help me through it. This book explains how CBT works beautifully, and gives a very good insight in to what to expect if you want to start a course of CBT and the different types. It also explains how CBT can be used to treat different issues such as depression, anxiety etc. It is a clearly written book that is easy to understand. I was expecting a few more exercises and activites for you to do yourself as the Mindfulness book contains

I am still in the process of reading the book to be honest, but the presentation is simple the techniques are interesting and the information is helpful.. The"homework assignments"; get you involved in the process of assimilating the information and can be beneficial. Overall it is an interesting read and it was very informative on an area I was not family with. As i mentioned I am still in the process of reading the CBT, I can wait to get to the Mindfulness book that should be very interesting as well!

I have enjoyed reading this bundle. I was familiar with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but Mindfulness was new to me. I appreciated reading about both approaches one after the other and comparing their similarities and differences. The author, Olivia Telford, does a great job in providing simple explanations and actionable plans. Great read overall and great value.
Wow, it is true that the teacher appears when the student is ready. Having been a student of Mindfulness and a patient for depression and addiction, this book packs it all in. Perfect for the self healer... Or person seeking to bring science into an often misunderstood practice.

This is such a great read from the writer on the subject of Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The writer manages to put across her ideas very well on what can be considered to be a scientific area of study for many people. I strongly recomnended this book!
I really love this book it has really changed my way of think and the way I live my life. I used to perceive things as what I want them to be instead of what they actually are now I have changed. Am more mindful now then ever. The Book is a must read.
Mindfulness is still struggling for recognition in the West which is why I appreciated this professional and sufficiently unintellectual take on it. The topic will never fully make sense from a western perspective where the accumulation of knowledge is always considered the better, faster, stronger way of achieving enlightenment. This at least gives a succinct overview of ad hoc behavioral improvement attempts.
This is a great book. It is a quick read, easy to understand, and includes easy steps to follow. It is something you can try and implement in your daily life without having to see a therapist.
