Growing up with Grams was like a dream. She was kind and patient. She took the time to raise me right. All of my best memories are with her. Sadly for Grams, there was nothing she could do about the storm growing inside of me. I spent a lot of time running through the woods behind our home. Watching, studying. Waiting. Wolf and Hunter always put a smile on my face, even if Wolf was too scared to talk to me. When a mysterious fire takes the lives of horrible people, the entire town turns a blind eye. After all, why would anyone suspect a sweet girl like Red? Hunter and Wolf think I don’t notice them watching me. Wolf thinks I don’t know his secret. He thinks I don’t know his plan. But he has no idea that I have a plan of my own. Dirty secrets of my own. I’ve never been one to resist having my fill, and I’m done waiting. I’ll play the part they expect, and when they’re ready, I’ll give them my secrets. Every last terrifying one.
Note from the author: This standalone ménage contemporary dark romance is the First book of the Sinners Fairytale Retellings series. Each installment can be read on its own and each retelling is intended for mature audiences, since it may contain triggers. Every author contributing to this series guarantees a HEA.
Kira Roman is a Mom of two monsters, she loves reading, and naps. She loves food, and The Office. She loves gloomy, rainy days. Naps, did I mention naps? She loves naps. And food. All the food.
I think my biggest complaint about this book is that it wasn’t longer. This is probably one of the more creative retellings of a fairy tale and I really enjoyed it.
This retelling was so different than the actual story BUT it had it’s own creative way of showing different characters like the wolf, hunter, grandma etc. Honestly, it was way different than what I was expecting which probably added to my enjoyment of it.
I like that the author showcased the characters from when they were young until they matured, it was quick, efficient and showed insights to their characters. The different point of views worked seamlessly and really draw you into the story.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the retellings within this series.
I don't know what on earth this book was supposed to be, but it was ridiculous. I knew going in it was a novella, but there was just no exposition whatsoever.
We get these weird flashback from multiple points of view of Scarlett, Wolf and Hunter of them at various ages, where we're basically told the same thing each time: Scarlet is a crazy girl who will fight injustice in a vigilante/psycho kind of way, because even as a child she can apparently magically beat people twice her size, and Wolf and Hunter have evil abusiv parents. Oh, and they think Scarlett is perfect. So we get about 70+ pages of this.
Then they're all adults and this random guy, who literally comes out of nowhere, starts stalking Scarlett, and they have to kidnap her for her own good, because apparently this guy's girlfriend disappeared (oh, and he's also a policeman) and Scarlett finds out they're going to kidnap her, because Wolf has a split personality called Jack, who kept leaving her notes. So because she wants to he with them she let's the kidnap her.
Honestly, I just have up pretty soon after that.
Apart from having probably the stupidest plot I've read for a while, there was just nothing going on here. No depth, no characterisation, no relationship development. And no link at all to Red Riding Hood beyond some superficial names.
I don't like trashing author's work, because I get how hard it must be, but I sadly couldn't think of one positive thing to say, I'm afraid.
I actually really liked this story. It was super short and over in no time, easy to read in a single sitting. I would say this is an extremely loose re-telling of Little Red Riding Hood as the closest to Gluttony or the story I witnessed was them owning bakeries, the guys' being named Hunter and Wolf & the heroine baking with her grandma :P I really liked the heroine in this book. She's brazen, ballsy and not afraid to get her hands dirty and go after what she wants, even kill if the situation calls for it. She's borderline crazy which is probably why I love her! The book is dark-ish and deals with abuse, murder, stalking, mental illness and more. The book is technically a MFM featuring brothers but as one has an alternate personality, two boyfriends easily turns into three. The book was completely outlandish but made for an enjoyable read. Curious how the rest of the series will turn out especially with so many authors contributing!
This was my first time reading the work of this author. I am reading the series because a few authors that I do know, and love are participating in this series. But wow! I really loved they way she developed the storyline. Scarlett is a tough wild child who really doesn't change much when she grows up. And Wolf/Jack just about broke my heart. And Hunter. Loved him! I thought she wrote the conflict with their parents really well without it being overly done. Or to skimmed over so that you don't get the feeling that you want. It was really good. I would totally recommend this book! I can't wait for the next book in this series. I love finding new author's to read!
This is my first book by Kira Roman and I absolutely loved this dark and twisted retelling of Little Red Riding Hood.
Scarlett has lived next door to Hunter and Wolf her entire life. She sees things most turn a blind eye to. All it takes is one night to change all their lives forever.
I loved Scarlett and how unapologetically dark she was. Wolf and Hunter both captured my heart with their tragic story. Like calls to like and Scarlett was the perfect fit for them.
The storyline is fantastic and I loved how the characters of Red, Grandma, Hunter, and Wolf were depicted. I loved how the story flows from when they were children to adults, it made the story so much more enjoyable to read.
I 100% recommend this book and I look forward to the other books in the Sinners Fairytale series.
A darker and more adult version of Red Riding Hood. Life long neighbours Scarlett (FMC) and the brothers - Wolf and Hunter have lived through all the hard times and violence they all have been through together in a way. Not actually in each others lives but in protecting each other all the same. Scarlett is not the naive and shy character that she portrays to others in this book. She is as much of Strong, Kick*** character as Wolf and Hunter. They are all protective of each other. Some parts of this book are hard reading but i loved the dynamic between Scarlett, Wolf and Hunter. They shouldnt make sense together but the actually really work. Its a dark, steamy, brilliant read and i loved reading it so much
I’m personally not one to read fairytale retellings, however I REALLY enjoyed this book! I was definitely taken by surprise and I honestly loved it! It was a unique and dark retelling that had me wanting more! And don’t even get me started on the steamy parts of this book! Oh boy I do love it when Kira writes a steamy scene!
I loved the characters in this book and how the author wrote them was impeccable! While this book isn’t long we definitely see a lot of characters development for Scarlett, Hunter and Wolf! I love how we see glimpses of the characters over the years as I feel like I got to know them more and on a deeper level.
If you love your fairytale retelling on the dark and steamy side, then check out this book because I promise you won’t be disappointed!
This was such a dark, twisted, and sexy reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood!
The character development is absolute perfection and I learned so much of what made Wolf and Hunter in to the men they are now along with Scarlett. Hunter spent his days trying to protect his little brother Wolf from the devastating and savage abuse their father forced on him. And although Wolf went through the worst kind of hell imaginable, he still has a heart of gold and would do anything for his big brother. They both are hopelessly impassioned with the girl next store, Scarlett, who is as fiery and fierce as they come. She goes to great lengths to protect Wolf and Hunter and with the help of “Jack”, proves to them that they’re worthy of love and acceptance in as sexy of a way as possible.
This novella was beautifully complex and sweet and I’ll never look at Little Red Riding Hood the same way again!!!
This is the third Sinner Fairytales book I've read as part of the ARC team.
I was intrigued by the fractured psyche of Wolf, and by the pull between the boys and Scarlett.
It was a short read, as promised, but there was a lot of story in that short bit. Scarlett's acceptance of Jack--without question--is handled in a respectful manner. Many stories with DID act as though it makes those people completely unable to integrate into society at all and I liked that she not only accepted him, but cared for him.

This short story is part of a fairytale retelling, mixing the Seven Deadly Sins. I seriously love the inclusion of this sins, and how it gives the fairytales a dark spin.
In this book, we meet Scarlett, Hunter, Wolf, and a few others. The beginning of this book jumps from age to age, as the brothers and Scarlett grow up next door to each other. The story really picks up when Scarlett is 21, and we see how she catches the unwanted attention of someone. The brothers see it, and one in particular chooses to take the matter into his own hands.
I know this is just a small retelling, but the plot was so good, I wanted there to be more. ❤️❤️❤️ and once the heat turned on, it was amazing! Perfect considering the situation they were all in!
I'll start by saying that I am a sucker for fairy tale retellings, so I was very excited to read this book. I wasn't sure what to expect when it came to a Little Red Riding Hood retelling, but it certainly wasn't what I got from this story (in the best way possible). I loved the modern take from this version, I also thought that the idea of not having shifters for the retelling was very creative and different from what I was expecting. If you are looking for a short and unique read, I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to see what the other authors do with their retellings.
I loved this different take on Little Red Riding Hood. Red is a badass and is extremely protective of those she cares for and isn't afraid too kick some ass. I just want to hug and protect Wolf and Hunter. Author Kira Roman did an awesome job showing the POV for the characters. Her books keep you on the edge of your seat and you can't put them down. This was a great standalone. I can't wait for the next book in the Sinners Fairytales series.
I loved this twist on Little Red Riding Hood. There is more than meets the eye in this book and Scarlett, Wolf and Hunter all have their fair share of dark secrets. I could not get enough of this book and finished it up in a day.
This was a dark and delicious read but only in the way that they are protective of each other and they will do whatever they can to keep each other safe. Wolf and Hunter did not have an easy childhood and while Scarlett was with her grandmother, she was a tough child growing up and had a strong sense of right and wrong. You get to see their story from a young age and I love that you get to see all of their POV's as well as a surprise character later in their life.
Towards the end it gets intense and I could not put it down, I loved how it ended and I am hoping to see more of some of these characters and hope this is not the end for them. I definitely recommend you pick up this book, it is a quick and fun read full of some very steamy scenes.
This was a really good fast paced book. I liked that the fmc was kick butt and I love wolf and jack. I like when people are split. And it was just a great read and a feisty fmc and her great men.
How will they react when I show them that their brand of crazy matches mine perfectly?
This was quite a refreshing spin on Little Red Riding Hood. The pace was fast and there was some ok smut towards the end. I enjoyed the route this author decided to take when writing this. The original Little Red is darker than some other fairy tales so there’s already that sinister tone to work with and the author did a great job of just making it their own. I also loved that one of our main male characters was a virgin. My heart always goes gooey for a virgin hero.
That being said I did have a few issues with it. -While the pacing was fast, the writing was super choppy and didn’t flow as nicely as I would have liked. -I wish this would have been a whole novel because there’s so many things that needed to be flushed out, explained, and gone into more depth. While we get to see glimpses of their childhoods, I felt like I hardly knew them as adults by the time the novella ended. And I wanted more explanation from our bad guy as to why he did what he did. I felt like he left breadcrumbs but the way it ended kind of left me hanging with questions and craving closure. Instead we are just left with “eh he’s just a crazy obsessive stalker guy with murderous capabilities”.
This, in my opinion, is not smut heavy. We get a scene with each dude (never together in a menage scene) and while they are explicit, it doesn’t last long. I was expecting heavy smut so that’s my bad for having those expectations.
CW: there are scenes of past extreme child abuse (physical, emotional, mental), death of parents/parental figures, kidnapping, present scenes of extreme domestic violence, murder.
Overall rating 3 stars Steaminess 3 stars (kissing, fingering, penetrative vaginal sex, cunnilingus, fellatio, rough sex acts like spanking/hair pulling)
LOVED THIS! Love retellings so I knew I was going to like it anyways but the way everything flowed together with the sin of Gluttony mixed with Little Red Riding Hood. The characters just came to life so easily, the pain, the love and the twists. I think Jack is my favorite, he may not be around all the time, but I like the side of Wolf that he brings out. Wolf, I love wolf too but his pain growing up was just horrible. That didn’t stop him from being a wonderful and kind man that Scarlett saw him for, I knew he deserved her just as much as Hunter did and I’m glad it all worked out for them. It felt like I was speed reading this book, couldn’t be bothered to put it down for anything. Scarlett was just so wild and sassy. She didn’t take crap from anyone and I think I really cheered for her when she kicked Beverly’s butt. Didn’t want anyone to take advantage of her boys even if they weren’t hers yet, she always wanted them, and they always wanted her. I just hate that it took so long for them to get there but when they did it was so worth the wait. Reading from the villain’s point of view too was different, I did enjoy it though since it added more suspense. I could really get a feel for how crazy he was and what lengths he would go to, to have Scarlett. Then finding out her little secret that Grams helped her cover up was not something I was hoping he would find out, in the end though it didn’t matter. The ending was perfect and the epilogue even better. I was so happy that they got their happy ending and it was everything they needed. Building the family, they wanted and having the love they deserved, Scarlett showing the men that was just so beautiful. Can’t wait to keep reading the rest of the series!
This was an interesting take on Little Red Riding Hood. We get to see all the characters in a new twisted way.
Red wasn't a simple naive girl which is a nice change from the norm. She knew what she wanted and went for it. She let her own moral compass guide her even if it wasn't the way most people would go.
Hunter, Jack and Wolf weren't your typical characters either. They each have their own personalities and 'quarks".
All the characters had a big thing in common, they are all super loyal to those they love. There isn't anything they wouldn't do to protect each other.
I actually would have liked this to be longer and see more of the characters. I think this could be a great full length book.
This retelling of Little Red Riding Hood was a little bit dark, steamy and a whole lot of fun! For being a short story you really do get to know the MCs quite well. I think that is thanks in part of being able to do a crash course through their history together in the first part of the book. We get glimpses of the three MCs throughout the years and how they feel towards one another. Scarlett/Red is pure in a way and dark in another, it was a really cool mix. Wolf was amazing, I love how perfectly imperfect he was and how vulnerable he could be. Hunter was the toughest to figure out because he’s slightly older and was a little more removed but he was no less intriguing. The characters had so much chemistry and the steamy scenes were soooo good. Awesome fun, steamy and quick read!
I actually ended up really liking this book. I’ve read from this author before but I think I enjoyed this book the most. Not going to lie the plot moves quick but that’s what happens with a lot of short stories.
I adored Scarlet she was a bad bish and I loved how it was her protecting her men like a little guardian angel. The guys really deserved it, and I was glad they had someone like Scarlet in their corner. She really doesn’t give af about what anyone thinks and I love her for it. Wolf was so sweet and I liked Hunter too. I would recommend if you want a nice sweet but steamy short read.
A fun modern twist on Red Robin Hood. She has the very specific view of Right and Wrong that tends to get her into trouble. She hates to see injustice, and there’s a lot of it in her small town. The cops are correct, and authority figures look the other way. She doesn’t want that to happen around her. So she becomes justice where she can.
She has neighbors that live next to her and there are two boys that she has lived next to her entire life. They are abused by their father and she refuses to let that stand. She hatches plans continually to help them. They are all grown up, and the boys are obsessed with her, and she is with them.
This is a ménage novel, and it was sooo good. The sex is hot, the plot is so good, and Scarlett is a strong female character that will help keep her men in line. There are multiple points of view, and every one of them is necessary. Don’t just it until you read it. It enhances the story.
Triggers: kidnapping, killing, skewed sense of right and wrong.
TW: Abusive Parents, Details of Abuse Gluttony is a twisted and sexy version of Little red riding hood!
The first few chapters of this book tell you the story of how Scarlett, Hunter and Wolf grow up.
Scarlett is a feisty women who stands up to others and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. Hunter the older brother has spent his life protecting his little brother Wolf the best that he can. Wolf has been terrorized by his mother and father and endures brutal punishments at the hands of his father. Then there is Jack... I won’t spoil anything for him other then Yummy!
Wolf, Hunter and Jack are trying to keep Scarlett safe when she gets a crazy deranged stalker on her hands. This book is sexy, twisted and very entertaining!
This was surprisingly sweet and a tad dark and emotional for being a Novella length. The characters have sweet tension in their youth and teens that leads to some seriously heated chemistry and smexy times by the end.
A spicy and delicious way to spend a couple of hours.
I loved this!! I love the take on little red ridding hood. Red, Hunter, Wolf and Jack were all amazing characters. Hunter, Wolf and Jack go through so much had me tearing up. Great read that I could not put down!
I really enjoyed this story. There were some harrowing parts with the boys abuse, but it was handled well. The whole seven deadly sins aspect felt like a reach, but otherwise it was a really good story. I just wish we got to see more of them as a 'couple' though. I wanted to see more of their HEA!
I basically stalk this author like all my notifications for her are always on I love all he books. This book was different for me I don’t generally read retellings of fairytales but this one was wow wow wow This retelling of Little Red Riding Hood was a steamy Its a short story I loved the modern take from this version, I also thought that the idea of not having shifters for the retelling was very creative. Love this book
