Cupcakes are Murder

by Teri Barnett

A cupcake conundrum, a culinary queen on the edge, and a cold-case killer on the loose… Morgan Hart is settling into her job as police captain of Bijoux, the quaint and quirky tourist town nestled on the Lake Michigan shoreline. Murders have been solved, kittens have been rescued, and progress has been made in the renovation of her cozy cottage by the beach. Despite her grief and ongoing frustration over her husband’s unsolved murder six years ago, Morgan hopes an overdue break in the case will finally lead to justice, even if it means exposing a betrayal that could leave her reeling. Meanwhile, Morgan needs to keep a sharp eye on the upcoming Baker’s Dozen Hometown Cupcake Bake-off and TV special hosted by British baking superstar Sassy McComas, aka The Queen of Cupcakes. Rumor has it, Queen Sass is secretly searching for a fresh face to host a new TV show she’s launching and the competitors vying for top spot include Hannah Bellamy, Bijoux’s own pastry princess, owner of Hannah’s Heavenly Confections, and girlfriend of JJ Jones, Morgan’s deputy. But when one of the top challengers in the Cupcake Bake-off turns up dead, Morgan has to sift through the evidence and stop the killer before they strike again and threaten to topple Queen Sass from her throne.

Reviews

[Jeff Stanger]

Death comes to the little tourist town of Bijoux yet again. This time the setting is the reality baking competition and Sherrif Morgan Hart and her deputy JJ have to sort through the suspects to catch the killer.

If you're a fan of the cozy genre, this book is as sweet a treat as the cupcakes being consumed by the characters. The Bijoux series in general is a collection of well-crafted, entertaining mysteries that keep you rooting for the main characters, increasingly on the edge of your seat, and wanting more when you come to the end. You won't be disappointed.

A very enjoyable book. I like the characters a lot. I’m. Not sure about the paranormal aspect but overall it’s entertaining. It’s exciting as there is the current mystery in Bijoux as well as the past case of her murdered husband from her prior life in Detroit.

The best of the three I’ve read so far.

Great Series

Enjoyable storyline with fun characters. Some witty and humorous dialogue exchange. A few twisty turns make it a good read!

Cozy Mystery

A cute story involving a baking show and some unexpected murders…some funny banter and a couple of twists along the way.
