Cyberstalking, zbrodnia i… zemsta, a wszystko to w porywającym, współczesnym thrillerze Mike’a Omera.
To historia kryminalna osadzona jak najbardziej w naszej rzeczywistości, w rzeczywistości jutubowo-tłiterowo-cyfrowej, w której śledztwo zaczyna się tu od przejrzenia mediów społecznościowych ofiary, od zerknięcia co kto wgrywał na insta i kogo oznaczał; w której znaczenie ma zawartość czyjejś skrzynki pocztowej, czyjeś hasło do telefonu. Kluczowym elementem śledztwa będzie tu wejście w grę online, któremu towarzyszy przezabawny opis (tym zabawniejszy, że ewidentnie zabarwiony doświadczeniami autora z czasu, gdy sam zajmował się produkcją gier komputerowych), kiedy indziej za alibi posłuży komuś wykaz transakcji przeprowadzonych przez Paypala. Fabuła kręci się natomiast wokół równie współczesnych problemów: cyberstalkingu i cyfrowego nękania, które szybko okazują się tematem przewodnim książki. Omer nie buduje wokół nich komentarza społecznego, nie wchodzi w nie głęboko, nie eksploruje ich wpływu na społeczeństwo jako takie – tworzy jednak wokół nich kryminalną zagadkę, której z pewnością nie sposób odmówić zakotwiczenia w naszym „tu i teraz”.
Ostatecznie jednak o wszystkim i tak zadecydować musi stara, dobra praca śledcza – rozmowy, przesłuchania i poszukiwania konkretnych osób. Zasypani pytaniami kolejni świadkowie, podejrzani i osoby postronne ujawniają kolejne kawałeczki układanki. Najważniejszy zaś okaże się mechanizm, który w kryminałach królował i króluje co najmniej od czasu Sherlocka Holmesa – dedukcja, drogi Watsonie. Umiejętna obserwacja, percepcja i analiza otaczającego świata, godna detektywa.
„Zabójcza sieć” sprawi nie lada przyjemność miłośnikom napisanych z wyczuciem i charakterem thrillerów, okraszona jest bowiem humorem, humorem rubasznym na dokładkę, który tworzy kontrast dla przemocy i brutalności samej zbrodni. Czyta się zachłannie i radośnie, tak jak lubimy najbardziej.

3.5 stars. Omer’s work has been so consistent for me that I’m surprised at how uneven this one felt as I read it over the past few days. In some ways, the multiple perspectives were hard to separate, and the crimes didn’t intersect in a compelling way, so the structure felt a bit janky to me.
What the story lacked in cohesion, however, it gained a a richly dark sense of humor. This increased near the end. The banter was excellent! I think I would have abandoned without it.
The end also felt too abrupt, so maybe there was pressure on Omer to make a series with cliffhangers? I’m going to put the final book in my queue and hope for the best. I’d recommend A Killer’s Instinct over this one.

Autorze - kocham cię i błagam, zostań przy powieściach o seryjnych mordercach, bo ta książka to jest totalnie nieporozumienie. Pierwszy tom bardzo mi się podobał, chociaż nie przebił trylogii o Zoe Bentley, ale tu?
Przede wszystkim, co to za kryminał, który nie ma nawet 300 stron? Trzy razy sprawdzałam, czy aby ktoś się nie pomylił, ale to za mało objętości, żeby rozwiązać sprawę i faktycznie brakuje mi takiego mocnego finału. Mam wrażenie, że książka klepana na kolanie, a zakończenia brak 🤷♀️.
Zabrakło mi wszystkiego, co tak pokochałam u autora. Co z tego, że jest styl, są postacie, które lubię i jest lektor, którego kocham (Kosior, wiadomka). Nie wiem, czy gdyby nie ulubiony lektor, to nie rzuciłabym tego w cholerę, bo rozczarowanie jest głębokie.

Може я і зажравша скотиняка, але мене щось не дуже вразила ця серія, ось взагалі. Ну були окремі якісь випадки, але їх ну дуже мало було. Мене завжди буде дратувати те, що поліцейські не мають РЕАЛЬНИХ доказів, звинувачують людину, або ж людину, яка сиділа у в'язниці за якусь крадіжку, його вже звинувачують у вбивстві, бо він вже всеодно сидів, значить 100% він. Ще момент був, коли слідчі спочатку підозрювали, що вбивця це хтось з гри, а потім такі «нє, хуйня ідея, за це не вбивають», а одразу якось зрозуміти напевно не додумались.

Average story. There isn't much suspense that leaves you hanging onto the edge of your seat. the story plods along.

I’m really glad that I eyed a few of the reviews before going into this book, because if I had not, I would have expected the two murders to be somehow connected, and ended up disappointed at the lack of a satisfying conclusion. Since I knew what to expect though, I didn’t mind it so much, and I was glad that we got Mitchell around again as a co-protagonist since Hannah is my least favourite of the rotating cast in Omer’s books (she’s still pretty okay though, I liked her a bit better in this book compared to in the 3rd book, and the other characters do set a high bar).
I agree with some of the reviews that having these two unrelated cases run concurrently for much of the book was a bit confusing and it was easy to lose track of which suspect is related to which case, and who is currently following up on leads from which case. I do understand what the author was going for, realistically speaking murderers don’t wait for all pending cases to be solved before committing their own, but storytelling-wise it didn’t work that well for me.
Other than that though, both of the cases were solid police procedural plots, and I really enjoyed the references toWorld of Warcraft ahem, I mean Dragonworld, and Buffy, it made me so nostalgic for the 00s!
As usual, there were many hilarious scenes and dialogues throughout the book, and even many of the minor and one-scene characters were memorable. When I read the synopsis, I had assumed that the internet troll dude would be a gross stereotypical neckbeard who lives in a pile of soda cans and cheetos bags, and I was pleasantly surprised that there was a bit more depth to his character than being just an obvious cliche.
Overall, the Glenmore Park series was very enjoyable, even if the 3rd book wasn’t so much to my liking. Gonna take a break and read a few other books I’ve had my eye on, and then it’s onto the Abby Mullen series!

3,8/5 впервые ставлю такую оценку, три поставить мало, мне понравилось читать эту историю, но четыре будет слишком много. потому что этот автор уже поразил меня и на оценку пять, то есть ожидания завышены. история не была скучной, читать было очень комфортно, особенно люблю юмор автора, он как бы повествует сам, но при этом мы понимаем, что описываются мысли героев. люблю такой стиль, и шутки в меня попадают! пока что это самый «маленький» детектив у автора («a death not foretold» я просто отрицаю как явление), и как будто поэтому не хватило экшена. когда убийства (а их в книге два) были раскрыты, мне показалось, что до читателя не дошли некоторые логические связи детективов. всё как-то резко закончилось, быстро распуталось, стало ясно как день, всех за решётку, полиция Глэнмор парка лучше всех. я такое послевкусие как раз и не люблю.
повторюсь, читать было очень легко и комфортно, если не докапываться, как я, то книга скрасит вам пару вечеров.

Pomimo tego, że do 200 strony nje ogarniałam za bardzo co się dzieje, i jakie postacie są związane z jakim morderstwem, uważam , że ogarnięcie tak naprawdę pod koniec wszystkiego, umiliło mi końcówkę książki.
Nie była to cudowna cześć, aczkolwiek nie była też tragiczna

This one was surprisingly disappointing given how much I’ve loved every other book by Mike Omer. It was weird that the book tracked two completely different cases that had nothing to do with each other, and that made it easy to confuse the details. It just wasn’t as gripping of a read.

Es gibt zwei Morde, die nichts miteinander zu tun haben außer dass sie mit dem Internet zu tun haben.
Das Buch hat diesmal auch nicht allzu viele Seiten, daher lässt es sich schnell und gut lesen.
Es war aber ganz nett, dass Hannah und Bernard eine etwas größere spielen und man auch mehr über sie erfahren hat.
Aber ngl... einer von ihnen hats echt kommen sehen und verdient.

Jacob on the other hand, is going to have to extend himself to solve the one he gets. His victim, Dona, was involved in an online game that may have led to her death. Jacob isn't exactly computer savvy so this case is going to be a challenge.
This is the 2nd book in the police procedural novel called the "Glenmore Park Mystery." In the first book we read about Detective Mitchell Lonnie and his cop sister, Tanessa. In this one Mitchell steps in to help Jacob when he catches that other murder case. His sister Tanessa is also part of this book, in a minor role.
Can they solve either case? Is the victim, Frank, in the first case going to get justice? Not everyone thinks he deserves it. Can Hannah fix her previous mistake, or is she being too hard on herself? I liked seeing more of the other cop characters this time around. while still keeping the ones from the first book. It expanded your view of the "Glenmore Park Police Dept."
Characters that I enjoy reading about and an interesting story, just as good as the first one. Comfortable read. Some exciting moments, and a great ending. Oh the future possibilities! Looking forward to more in this cop series.

Duża część dotychczasowych opinii jest karcąca autora. W moim odczuciu ten tom jest słabszy od pierwszego, ale tragedii nie ma.
Opis wydawniczy jest zbyt obszerny, za dużo zdradza i nieco wprowadza w błąd sugerując, że akcja książki w znacznej mierze będzie internetowym śledztwem. Fabuła odbywa się w realu, a w sieci znajdowane są nowe tropy, świadkowie i ofiary, nękajacego ich seksualnie, Franka Gulliepe. Ktoś postanowił wymierzyć karę trollowi i zadźgać go w jego mieszaniu. Sprawę prowadzi śledcza Hannah Shor i jej partner Bernard Gladwin. Noc jednak jest długa, a wkrótce zostają odnalezione kolejne zwłoki uduszonej młodej kobiety.
Tempo akcji jest szybkie, śledztwo zagadkowe, wątki mylone, a postaci dobrze wykreowane.
Dla mnie sensem kryminału jest podanie przez autora śladów, wskazówek, by czytelnik miał szansę na rozwikłanie zagadki. W przypadku tej książki takiej możliwości nie było. Mam wrażenie, że autor wprowadził zbyt dużą ilość wątków, które niewystarczająco rozwinął.
Reasumując, być może ta część wypada słabiej w porównaniu do jej poprzedniczki, ale i tak stanowi przyjemną lekturę, z którą ostatecznie spędziłam miły czas.

I read this 2nd book close on the heels of the first one. The Glenmore park PD is investigating 2 murders.
The book is in no way perfect. Yet I give it a 5 *, because it was so enjoyable.
I like this series so much because the detectives in this book are so different from the usual serious detectives that I read.
1. it is not about a single detective playing hero. There are 4 detectives in the PD and they share the work. The supervisor is not confined to the desk and has valuable inputs to any investigation
2.The hero is not a misanthrope loner, who performs superhuman stunts. The detectives do have their problems but don't behave as if they have the whole burden of the world on their shoulders
3. They have each other's back. There is easy banter
The author uses his experience as a game developer to create an interesting sub-plot. The scenes about gaming were funny (at Jacob's expense)
Mike Omer's books are fun, but i found the titles unimaginative and irrelevant to the plot. I would probably not remember the titles after a few days.
I will be finishing the 3rd book soon, I hope he publishes the next one by then, so that i dont have to wait long.

Mike Omer has again written a brilliant story.
We see a lot more of some of our favourite characters from the first book and now we know them better it's a lot easier to keep up with who is who.
2 separate murders, 2 separate victims. This was a brilliant read and still had me gripped however it lacked a bit of suspense which is why I have marked it down a star.
Nonetheless still a brilliantly written book.

Omer jak zwykle rewelacyjny 🥰 Dużo humoru, przyjemna i lekka narracja, dwa różne zabójstwa, dwa policyjne duety oraz całe mnóstwo dziwnych imion i nazwisk, które brzmiały jak zlepek losowo wybranych liter 😂
Ps. Książka jest dosyć krótka, nie ma bowiem nawet 300 stron, ale w trakcie czytania ani przez chwilę nie odniosłam wrażenia, że czegoś w niej brakuje - co nie powinno mnie wcale dziwić, w końcu autorem tego kryminału jest Omer 😅🧡
Ps. Książka jest dosyć krótka, nie ma bowiem nawet 300 stron, ale w trakcie czytania ani przez chwilę nie odniosłam wrażenia, że czegoś w niej brakuje - co nie powinno mnie wcale dziwić, w końcu autorem tego kryminału jest Omer 😅🧡

This very well might be my favorite Mike Omer book. It was pretty slow, the stakes weren’t really high, but I really enjoyed the investigation. I don’t know. I guess now I’m a fan of the routine in the investigations. Before, I really thought I liked reading about serial killers much more than just mere killers, because they are so much easier to hate. That’s why you get the thrill of the detectives chasing them, trying to catch them. You get hooked. You need them to be caught. But this book was really chill. Love that about it.

Typical of This Author ... Quality Storytelling With Humor
The characters continue to grow in their personality, and even Mitchell becomes more likable (is this a spoiler alert?). This was a page-turning quick read. The story lines are different than in the other three Mike Omer books I've read (the first of each series), which was a pleasant and enjoyable surprise.

This was a pretty good book, short and sweet. I really like Mike Omer, a fairly new author to me. Hannah and Jacob are detectives who have a case to solve, one for each. Hannah has already made mistakes so she's out to prove what she can do; Jacob is bound and determined to solve his case. He meets with extra difficulty with his case.
I like the characters. I thought the plot was good but not excellent. I really like more suspense and sit-on-the-edge-of-my-seat plot and with this book I wasn't that nervous reading it. LOL But overall I really liked it enough to know I'll read Mike Omer again.

Confusing and rambling murder mystery?
I’ve read a few of Mike’s books and it was too complicated with two different story lines that didn’t connect with his serial killer theme. I was very unsatisfied
