I'm planning my first Disney World vacation in over five years, and while I feel like I have become an expert on WDW since my last visit, there is just so much that has changed in the half-decade since I last went. To help guide me through this familiar, yet somewhat foreign, experience, I decided to pick up Bob Sehlinger and Len Testa's Unofficial Guide—a book I was well aware of due to being an avid listener to Testa's The Disney Dish podcast.
I used a guide last time I planned a vacation, and it was well done, but this one feels comprehensive in an astounding way, not only predicting every question I could have about going to the park, but also helped me explore the minutiae of the parks. This explores how to get ready for your trip, as well as gives insight into every ride, restaurant, hotel, and experience on the property, in addition to the areas around WDW.
And look, did I read every word on this guide? Of course not. But I'm also far from done with this book, as I plan on digging into it for months as I get ready for my trip. Even at the parks, I plan on having this with me at all times, a helpful tome that I really do feel will help me make the most of my vacation.
This is the best Unofficial Disney book I've read, I've been reading them since 2002. I was expecting the Post-Covid Vaccine information, but not a whole chapter. I really appreciate the "since your last visit" breakdowns by years. Each chapter opens with go-to page numbers if you want to skip the filler information and go straight to key information like a planning outline and checklist, so you can read as much or as little as you like. I love it for rereads. Disney has consistently become more complicated each year but these books have always made me feel confident in my booking. The vacation budgets, dining options, resorts, and park details are both simple and meticulous. They highlighted with 👍 and ✅️ the desirable restaurants and attractions. I highly recommend this book to anyone with plans to visit WDW. I haven't used Touring Plans at Disney yet but they were extremely help on my Universal Orlando trip so I'm considering it. Speaking of USO, there is a section on those parks as well, and itineraries for Disney and Universal, I love their Universal books as well. I recommend you read the print and follow it up with the ebook for easy website links. This is my usual plan but I'm getting to 2023 ebook instead of the 2022 ebook.
This book is very helpful in planning for your trip to Disney World. Apparently a new version comes out every year. We got the 2022 edition in October 2022 and went to Disney World early November 2022. This was not enough time to go through everything in the book. If you are going to use a book like this, I would recommend starting sooner.
Our family does not plan on going back to Disney World anytime soon. So if you want to make the most out of your experience it is essential to plan ahead. This book is super helpful with that. It is easier than finding videos on YouTube or sifting through different parts of the videos when they are just talking the camera. With this book you can look up what you want to know, and find out where it is with the table of contents.
This book is very comprehensive.
Having now returned from Disney, the information is good too. Each park is broken down in a lot of detail, down to individual rides. For example, the Avatar Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom. All the information in the book is accurate, including height requirements if you have small children. Description of the ride, what does on during the ride etc.
Use Genie+ and lightning lanes when you go Disney.
Things are so fluid at Disney parks right now with various restrictions being lifted as they strive to return to pre-pandemic levels and expectations. So, this is outdated right out of the gate, but overall, ultimately still helpful to a veritable noob like me who hasn’t set foot in Orlando in two decades. Obvs for the most accurate information, follow Disney news/groups/pods. I love physical guidebooks for our bookshelf, so no regrets!
This was a very good book with wonderful tips for visiting Walt Disney World. At the time of this writing, I am planning my very first trip to Walt Disney World and I wanted to get more updated information due to changes made to the parks since the pandemic. It gave me a really good idea on what to expect during my vacation. I highly recommend that if you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World in 2022, to read this guide and not an older edition.
This book is very informative if you are about to plan a vacation to a Disney Park, specifically Disney World. I read this the first time when my family was planning a vacation to Disney, and I was a little nervous about what rides I should ride. I decided to read this and I felt much more confident afterwards.
This is the latest in several editions of this book that I would highly recommend for anyone planning a Walt Disney World vacation. Their touring plans are excellent, the book is well-researched, and the advice is invaluable to anyone who wants to maximize their time in the parks.
This is a good starting point for planning a Disney trip it has everything organized tells you where to find answers to your questions. It might be a little outdated but that's because of the past few years changing day 2 day.
Fantastic guide book for any Disneyworld lover, first time visitor or veteran. 2022 version has updated info on Genie plus and ILL what rides to use it on to get the best out of your dollar. It was writing during covid as things were just opening, however 90% if Still most relevant details
Makes Birnbaum look like a joke. This is the ultimate guide. Even having been to WDW multiple times I learned a lot of new helpful things for our upcoming trip. Indispensable!
This book is a must when planning a trip to Disney World. Very comprehensive, covering all the rides and other attractions, park maps, lodging, dining, transportation, and shopping inside and outside of Disney. Suggested touring plans for each park. Includes information related to planning, making the most of your time and money, and tips specific to traveling with children and traveling as someone who has special needs, is taller or of heavier weight, seniors, international visitors, expectant mothers, singles, and couples. Also includes information about Universal Orlando, the Disney and Universal water parks, and Disney Springs. The authors also have a helpful website and an app to use in the Disney parks.
