I felt like the book finished on an unsatisfactory note. Literally the main story ended when the centipede died. Not very satisfying (even if it was a big threat) since it was literally nibbled to death by ants.

Nina was completely useless throughout the story. She didn’t even contribute to battles. Her sole purpose in this book is to have a cute cat girl on the cover and to replace Myria, who actually did something. Also, I feel like demihumans are always enslaved in fantasy novels and have to be saved by the MC. I don’t like that trope.

The ballrabbit was an incomparable replacement for the black lizard. It was quite annoying because the author was trying to portray it as cute. I was so happy to see the black lizard again in Myria’s side story at the end. Nothing can ever replace her! Otherwise, I didn’t care about Myria’s POV.

I do like how in the author’s note, Necoco says that dragon Illusia has a human’s heart, and human Illusia has a monster’s heart. However, he was quite a shallow villain in this volume with barely any impact. I get that the author is setting up for future drama in the next volume, but still.

I don’t really care about the slime’s tragic backstory or whatever. It makes me kinda mad that that’s the reason Illusia can’t remember his past life and how it robbed him of that ability. Also it’s funny to imagine a slime hand chasing after the blue slime to slap him to death.

This volume wasn’t as great as the previous two, but I guess it’s just an excuse to have more dangerous monsters to make Illusia even more powerful.

While I am glad that Lumisa is not alone anymore I do feel like this volume is just padding as aside from meeting some friends nothing else much happens in this volume. I still liked it I just wished we would have seen something like him going to the next stage of his evolution or something significant like that.

Fun

Another great volume. Feels like we are now the past the prologue of the story and getting further into it. I love reading about the battles and how the dragon slowly grows. Can’t wait to see the next evolution!
