After all the drama that went down at school, Matsuri has started skipping classes. Harumi has never gotten along with Matsuri, but decides to go to her home to check up on the younger girl. It is awkward as heck, and gets even weirder when Matsuri goes in for a kiss!
Comments After watching Sailor Moon anime, she started drawing at the age of 7.
Influences when she was young: CLAMP (Card Card Captor Sakura, X), AMANO Kozue (Aira, Aqua), WATASE Yuu (Fushigi Yugi), SUGISAKI Yukiru (1001 Knights).
Got into the yuri genre through "Pretty Cure" (especially the chapter 8).
Strength: drawing close-up facial expressions and hair arrangement.
Weakness: drawing small pictures.
Among the sources used as inspiration for her work: watching movies, reading manga, doujinshi, erotica artwork targeted for male audience (like NARUKO Hanaharu's manga).
Her drawing tools: PC, Wacom Cintiq24, program ComicStudio, pencils.
Even though I really loved this volume it did feel a bit short. Was hoping for more Mei + Yuzu romance however I did like seeing more of Harumi and Matsuri. I think Matsuri irritated me when she first arrived in the series but getting to know her more now, I wanna give her a hug and can understand her more. I'm excited to see where it all goes. I'm here for the ride, however long it be.
I always devour these within a hour of getting them. I'm so immersed in this world and wanting to see what happens next. I love that the world is expanding to include more about the support characters. They're certainly an interesting bunch.
i cant wait to be fucking done. boring boring overdone next im bored. the only good thing was MATSURI KISSING HARUMIN LETS GOOOOOO!!!!! it mightve been just to throw Harumin off guard but i dont give a fuck, they have my favorite dynamic. Harumin reads her ass like no one else. Nene still sticking to her yuzu-haru ship is so funny especially when she knows yuzu and mei are together. like such a real fan girl i have to give her props. mei is always fucking depressed about something. her ruining yuzu's festival night because she lost the ring like so unnecessary. shes such a damn drama queen i would hate her in real life. she has resting sad face
Mizusawa has been missing from school after last volume and that sends Harumin into the belly of the beast, aka Mizusawa’s home. There’s dramatic tension, then there’s what these two have been building towards. Other stuff happens too, I guess?
Look, I don’t normally go in for yuri paradise stories, but I can’t help but root for Harumin and Mizusawa because they’ve got such an obvious chemistry and that makes them way more interesting than Yuzu and the sentient shade of beige known as Mei, who are ostensibly the series leads.
Harumin is a great character - she’s a genuinely nice person with a warm heart, even though you might assume otherwise given that her looks and killer fashion sense would be more in line with the typical mean girl in a story like this.
She and Mizusawa share such a strong senpai-kouhai relationship that’s fairly adorable - Mizusawa is fiercely loyal, but it’s no great secret that she’s not the most mature young adult yet so having a steadying influence that she can banter with is very helpful.
Needless to say, I love every bit of their encounter and conversation, as brilliantly awkward as it is when two people are sort of, kind of, being frank with one another, but not quite. So when Mizusawa kisses Harumin it might be rebellion, it might be something else, but I’ll take it. Gotta start somewhere.
The rest of the book can’t hope to touch this, but it tries its best. I really like the couple of side chapters afterward that check in on some characters from the first series and give some simple Mei and Yuzu time. That one girl who won’t stop shipping Yuzu and Harumin is great and the revelation of what comes of her obsession is cute.
The book ends with, yes, ye olde fireworks festival and I do appreciate Mei actually wanting something for a change, even if the little bit of drama injected into this is very, very thin.
It does let Mei have an emotion as a bit of a novelty, even if some of the nonsense Yuzu buys into is ridiculous. Still, it brings back a cute remnant that was leftover from the first series and has some fun moments amidst what turns out to be a lot of pointless worry.
Honestly this continuation doesn’t need to exist and it still feels a lot more exploitative than many more recent yuri we’ve seen. Even so, it’s enough to keep me interested and I’ll put up with a ton of Yuzu and Mei to get more Harumin and Mizusawa anyway.
3.5 stars - largely on the basis of the first parts of the book and the fun side stuff. It may never quite manage it, but Citrus+ is better than its original and keeps coming perilously close to getting a legitimate four stars out of me.
Mei and Yuzu steal the show in this one. The middle section has some side character stories that really didn't do anything for me but the beginning and the ending were great. Seeing Mei grow and emotionally mature is the best part of the series. We also get some really sweet moments between the two in this volume that end with a mixup being resolved and a festival date. The art is solid and stylized well. Now we must wait another year (most likely) for the next installment. Oh the agony.
Can't help but wish there was more that happened in this volume, but ultimately it delivers well on what I think Citrus does best: fluff, character interactions, and Saburouta's amazing illustrations.
average volume. mei and yuzu are cute, but I feel like their relationship still remains the same. yes, they are helping each other mentally and understand each other better, but they're not moving forward and it kinda annoys me. 3.5⭐
