Evil is never good, no matter how tempting the package.

Along with his ability to deceive others, Caedryn has skills that make him a perfect double agent, including executing a daring stunt that draws the eye of an evil empress. Caedryn soon finds himself welcomed into her confidence—and pulled into her twisted plots and secrets.

Empress Rhianu’s dark power repulses him, yet as Caedryn becomes closer, he sees an intimate part of her that no one should ever see a power-hungry empress possess. A softness. A vulnerability.

Despite his mission to bring the empress down, the longer Caedryn knows her, the more she warps his reason. She’s either really sincere behind the scenes or as gifted in deception as he is.

Has she caught on to his role as a double agent, or does she really trust Caedryn as much as she says she does?

Time with her will make him insane or acquaint him with the darkness that hides within—unless love overcomes the insanity and gives Caedryn the reason he needs to fight for his empress.

This book wasn't exactly what I expected but it was still very enjoyable. Cardryn's progression into the darkness was fascinating, he didn't start off that way but overtime and several occurrences made him fall deeper and deeper. He begins as a double agent until he is seduced and pulled in by Empress Rhianu. This begins his fall as he sees another side of her and he becomes confused about the role that he will play. I will definitely be reading the next book as I am curious where the story will go from here.

I was hooked from the first page. The descriptions of the land and culture added so much to the intrigue of the story line. This is a brilliant read! It pulled me in from beginning and held my attention. The world building is detailed and imaginative. This novel has strong, well developed characters and an interesting story line that keeps you turning the pages. I recommend this novel and would read more novels by this author. An excellent read. I received book from StoryOrigin. This is my true and honest review.

Okay, so I love Caedryn. Loved him in Corrupted, and this story from his POV is awesome. The story starts out way before he meets Niawen, when he meets Empress Rhianu. Whoa. It’s dark and twisted. Caedryn becomes a mess. The empress is controlling and manipulative and that really messes Caedryn up. After their story, we see behind the scenes stuff with Caedryn with his relationships with Niawen and then his daughter, Ahnalyn. Thoroughly enjoyed this novel!

This is from Caedryn's point of view of his life with Niawen. In this version, you feel sorry for him. He wasn't totally a cad, he just couldn't be the better man in the end. It proves that there are always two sides to every coin. His jealousy was his undoing. I really liked reading it from this view.

I enjoyed getting to know a little about the history behind the character of this obsessive madman. I didn't think what he did to the prince was very cool, to me it looks like he was a fly going against a spray and dying instantly, I was a little sad.
But the work is a wonder I liked to know more about the character.

Love a good villain. Doesn't start out evil. This story reminds me of Maleficent's movie. The reader will get a good glimpse into just what happened to Caedryn to make him the villain in Consumed and Corrupted.
