My rating: 1.75
This is really the same book w/ a different title as Plague of Angels, the first in the Descended series. I was not interested in this story enough to read the second book. And not impressed with the storytelling here.
This seems more targeted at pubescent teenage boys w/ raging hormones, and even then, not very well done.
though the description sounds good, the execution is poor. Supposedly the Queen of Hell comes to earth when Jesus is alive and is tasked to stop Christianity from spreading after Jesus is crucified on the cross and returned to heaven. She has 1,000 years to accomplish this task and is assisted by two of her best fallen angels, Persephone and Asheret. If buggery is your thing, and graphic scenes of bodies being hacked up and eviscerated then this is your kind of book. There is a lot of sexual situations and innuendo, though thankfully not written in great detail but enough to get the point across.
This would be better as a graphic novel with the emphasis on "graphic" for all the sex and violence involved. Fact is that is ALL it was. It could have been a strong interesting story, but ultimately was mindless sex and violence w/ no real plot development.
I was sadly disappointed in this book and will not venture into any more of Mr. Kennedy's works. Nor would I recommend this book; don't waste your time, there are far too many other better- written stories than this.

I was going through my library looking for a book and this one caught my eye. I have a bad habit of getting books and then not reading them right away and then forgetting I have them.
I am glad I chose this book and found the fictional premise interesting. For those who have a strong sense of Christianity may find this book difficult, only because of the parallel of the time of Christ.
I loved the characters even those that I grew to hate. I have always believed if a story brings strong emotions then the author has done his job of bringing you into the story. This is how I felt. I was a part of the story not just an observer.

This is just a rewrite of Plague of Angels. And to prove that, just look at the Caelum, Orion, and Nyx scene a quarter of the way in. It's damn near the same as in Plague.
Disappointed as I thought this was a new book in the series.

Pleasantly surprised
Unique and creative story line.I enjoyed it because it was original and I loved

Always always love every JPK writes and this is no different. If you love dark and different takes on people you have heard of before, then this is the book land author for you!
