Tectonic plate phenomena in two disparate parts of the world begin an unrelenting equilibrium shift that will change the world forever. Geologist Dr. Dan Lee and Oceanography Professor Dr. Mina Lee are witnesses to never-before-seen events just as the two are about to open a new chapter in their lives. Millions of lives are at stake, ancient historical cultures are in jeopardy, and scientific beliefs are put to the test in a race against time.[simultaneously …] Mina Lee is witness to mysterious vatic phenomena as unprecedented events unfold in her native Hawaii. Daniel is the man she loves, until her primordial fears teem, and she must question the voice he says he hears, his family, and the occurrence of blood on his hands. They are pulled into his midwestern roots and the world will never be the same as religious truths unfold and lives are at risk in a race against time. Geologist Dr. Dan Lee, Pacific Regional director U.S.G.S, celebrates his 44th birthday tonight in Hilo, Hawaii with Dr. Mina Lee in his Beechcraft Baron 58P. His marriage proposal is interrupted by a volcanic eruption from Mauna Loa. When the eruption begins to subside, the Lōʻihi Seamount, just seventeen miles off the coast, begins an unprecedented rise through the Pacific. Scientists are astonished. Lōʻihi is not scheduled to rise for another 10,000 to 100,000 years to become an island in the archipelago. Witnessing the astonishing eruption, Pacific waves cresting and falling from higher steeps, and the slowly rising seamount from inside his plane vatic events occur within Daniel. Blood snakes from the back of his hands and flow onto the yoke and to his pant legs. When Mina helps and questions him, her primordial fears teem when the blood suddenly disappears. After her emotional tumult, Dan tells Mina of his childhood, the death of his mother when he was ten, and of one other occurrence of blood on his hands. He also explains being raised by his grandmother, Sarah Hershey, following the arrest and disappearance of his career diplomat father, Melchizadek “Dick” Levin. Dan confides to Mina that he lost his faith after his mother died. He also emancipated himself at age 16 and changed his name to Lee before heading to college. He enjoys his brilliant geological career until these vatic happenings lead him and Mina to seek answers back in Charleston, Mo, his mysterious midwestern roots, and from his sister Reven.
