Never the Same; Stories of Those Who Encountered Jesus, by Steven James is a book full of mini-stories, from the perspective of the changed person during their encounter with Jesus. These are lesser-known people in the Bible. The topics are real-life and contemplative.
I like that each chapter starts with a scripture reference to look up and read, but also has a written scripture in the “Making it Personal” section. Another section in the chapter, “Taking it Deeper” has questions with more scriptures to look up and read. The final section, “Breaking Free,” is a short prayer.
This book has components, prayer and scripture, that we need to grow our relationship with Jesus. It is a good way to get in the Word and be able to read a good story (or several).
The stories are based on true events, but if added conversations that are not found in the Bible bother you, this book is not for you. I found it interesting and thought provoking and highly recommend it.
This is one if my favorite books! It's a simple read, but the author uses scripturally-based scenes and some creative license to tell about Jesus from the perspective of individuals who encountered him (as told in the New Testament). The way the stories are told (and some of the follow-up at the end of each vignette) forced me to think about Jesus and myself in new ways.
I am really enjoying reading this book..it simply talks about those who encountered Jesus in a big way and will never be the same:) I love reading other stories of how they are changed by a loving God and knowing that their stories will impact so many others is so uplifting!
