Ballsy Boys #4

Very Unlikely

Rate this book
The last time a jock and a nerd went head-to-head, I was conceived. Since my parents’ story didn’t have a happy ending, I’ve strived to stop history from repeating itself ever since.

I play ball every week, date cheerleaders and sorority sisters, and attend the most happening parties, but I had no clue how meaningless my existence was until I stumbled upon Summer Ramsay.

She was a mess in all meanings of the word. Her hair was a disaster, her wardrobe borrowed from both her mother and father’s closet, and she wore blue eyeshadow like she was hankering for a Gun N Roses reunion.

Yet, despite all that, I couldn’t help but gawk.

She was nothing like the women I ‘dated,’ and everything I aimed to stay away from, but when an unexpected interaction unearthed her ability to sniff out a psychopath from a mile away, I knew we had to collaborate.

The terms of our agreement were simple. I’d help Summer become less dorky, and she’d save my face from being scalded by wannabe black widows.

It was perfect… until we decided to test the no hanky-panky clause that formed our friendship by booking a hotel room with only one bed.

Very Unlikely is a fun and sexy friends to lovers standalone sports romance. It has laugh-out-loud scenes, swoon-worthy moments, and times where you want to bang their heads together and tell them to kiss already! It’s book four in the Ballsy Boys Series, but based on brand-new characters, so it can be read as a complete standalone.

i found lennox very disgusting and summer too stereotypical.
im not sure lennox has a head in the upper half of his body. he thinks with his dick, he talks with his dick, he acts with his dick. he is, to put it simply, a dick. not rude, necessarily, but his thought process is one similiar to a hormonal teenage boys'.
summer is an innocent little nerd, who cares not about her looks, but still manages to be the hottest chick on the block. she eats 7 kilograms of chocolate everyday and weighs 100 pounds (more than half of which goes to her ass).
i was completely robbed of their first time going at it. still mad about it.
also, summers love confession at the end was not it. i wanted to kill myself.
2.5 stars. it's okay.

Okay so let me be honest, Shandi Boyes has been taking over my IG with her awesomely hot reels and teasers. I have been wanting to read enigma series for a while and just haven’t have the time to read a full series. So when a reel for Very Unlikely came up, I ran my sweet ass over to Amazon to grab it! I am so happy I did, the banter within this book alone would have been enough for me to love it but then you add everything else and I was a goner!

Our two leads are Lennox and Summer they meet and have the most unlikeliest of friendships. Summer is mad and butthurt that Lennox didn’t match with her on a dating app, one she doesn’t feel she belongs on anyways as it’s for ‘one night stands’ and he was the only person she clicked on. When he uses up where she works she thinks maybe he changed his mind only to be brought straight back to reality but she acts in the most marvellous way.. Lennox is there to meet his latest conquest, only for summer to quickly step in showing him want a loon she really is. And the rest as they say is history or is it?

Lennox is no doubt your average athlete player, he’s cocky, walks the walk with his D swinging around for all to see, he doesn’t want a relationship no more than a one night stand is needed. The is handsome, sarcastically witty, fun and questions the ‘no touching clause’ to their friendship daily! He is set to make it big in baseball and will let nothing hold him back, he is determined to step out of his fathers shadow no matter what it takes or what he has to lose.

Summer is beautiful she just doesn’t see it, like any young woman she only notices her flaws. Yet she is a knockout! She is beautiful inside and out, she is smart, brilliantly witty and sassy as hell. I’d be her best friend any day!! She wants to be a doctor, she wants to find a cure for cruel fate her mother faced. She has loved Lennox along time but would rather have him as a friend than nothing at all and plus she sees what a dirty dog he can be the last 3 years.

I absolutely LOVED summers dad!!! (Hmm yes please sir)

Will truths come to light?
Will 6 weeks sharing the one room have them crossing lines they set out a long time ago?
Will it ruin the friendship they both hold close to their hearts?
Will the tails of their parents life hold too much over their thoughts?

I so enjoyed this book, it had me crying laughing, and just plain old upset.

I am sad we didn’t get to see more of them in the future, maybe or at least one more from Lennox.

Very Unlikely

They started off their friendship in the most unlikeliest of ways. And they stuck to it. As the years trickle by Lennox curses himself. Why you ask??? Because Summer is his friend. But this is just as hard for Summer who like most young women doesn’t see her beauty but only her flaws. We’ve all been there!!!!!
As her friend Lennox helps her past some issues.... this is where the comedy enters and I burst out laughing 😆
Shandi has once again delivered a brilliant story of friends who become lovers, but her knack with introducing humour makes this so so good.
As for Lennox’s father, I really wanted him to be bought down a peg. Will it happen??? You’ll have to grab this book and find out!!!
I love baseball ⚾️ so I enjoyed this story so much more.
I’ve never been into reading about sports but as usual Shandi converted me. If you’re not into Sports Rom Com either Shandi will convert you too.

A Definite Must Read!! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is a hoot! It has that great friends with benefits story line that we’re familiar with but it’s not at all predictable like you would think. It will have you laughing out loud at Lennox & Summer’s witty banter back & forth but you’ll also be satisfyingly frustrated at the steaming sexual chemistry between them. Great read & another home run by Shandi Boyes!

The Ballsy series is seriously a laugh out loud series that should be added to everyone’s reading list! Lennox and Summer will knock you on your butt laughing. From their first encounter to their back and forth banter, these two are so entertaining and will have you sexually frustrated for them. This book is on par with the rest of Shandi’s books meaning it’s freaking phenomenal!!! My advice is ADD TO CART because this book is a must read and I 10/10 recommend to everyone!!!

Great story of friends become lover, funny witty banter between the two main characters.

The growth of Lennox and seeing him struggling to want to be a better man to be nothing like his father.

Summer is a Badass, she isn’t ashamed of who she is, what she looks like, or what people think of her. Mess with her she will set you straight kick you in the balls, Summer is a natural beauty

I highly recommend reading this book

Ughhh 😑

Summer, i liked her from the beginning, the way she wasn’t afraid to be herself even if it embarrassed her sometimes. She did annoy me quite a bit tho towards the middle of the book and to end.

Lennox I love him! He always wanted summer he just didn’t want it to mess up their friendship or it turn out the way his parents did. I didn’t agree with his choices at times tho of course.

Their relationship/friendship whatever you wanna call it, was very annoying. I wanted them together so much!! But she’s too stubborn and he’s afraid to do it. It was slow paced very much I know he did foreplay on her but still like cmon!!! I didn’t read it until the end read it until about half way, I just couldn’t enjoy it anymore so I skipped to the end and found out they end up together and that was enough for me instead of forcing myself to read chapters I didn’t enjoy one bit.

Shandi boyes has failed me with this book.

Great sports/friends to lovers romance

I really enjoyed this book, from the characters to the storyline. I loved the friendship and chemistry between the main characters. I laughed several times throughout. Humorous and steamy with heartfelt moments throughout.
Summer was raised by her dad and hos grease monkey friends. She's a tomboy. Lennox is s baseball phenom, a player on and off the field. His dad is a nightmare. The two have a chance encounter with crazy and strike a deal. They end up nest friends.
This is a standalone romance with no cheating and an HEA. Steamy, funny, with some language. Definitely recommend.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! Okay these two will have you laughing until you are crying 😊 the banter between them Summer is sweet, a nerd, good girl, she grew up with parents who loved her, encouraged her to be who she is, pushed her in the right direction and she has agreed to tutor a jock. Lennox sexy as all get out jock, in need of help with his school work, didn’t come from a good family and they were attracted to each other but with his family background he refused to settle down so their attraction was instant but they put a no touch in place for them and in return he would teach her how to better fit in with others and she would block him from dating crazies 😊 it works well regardless the attraction. Fast forward three years and the attraction pull is much stronger, they are comfortable with each other. They are in love with each other but yet he isn’t ready to admit the love he feels for her, but fate is about to force his hand. To avoid hurting her he pushes her away, so Summer gets the message and decides to go on a date oh that didn’t sit well with him and in fact he was downright upset about it all everything coming to a head. The chemistry is insanely intense and the magnetic fate made sure it was to strong to be ignored but will he get over himself, will she accept him, and can they finally find happiness on the path they have been traveling for while?

Summer is a nerd, curvy, messy bun, raised by grease monkeys, and joins a match app for one night stands. Lennox has it all a football career in college, he's handsome, athletic, lonely and joins a match app. Despite the odds they are a match. They are opposites but opposites attract right? Especially when they are best friends with a no sex clause because that always works ..right?

To say that I liked reading this story is an understatement - I LOVED it! The characters are likeable, relatable, complex, multilayered, and realistic I couldn't help but love them! Their friendship is interwoven with trust, deep connection despite their differences, unconditional support and understanding of each others flaws and strengths. There's also a few laugh out loud moments and believe me they are GOOD! Highlight for me was Summers dad, Rye, what an absolute sweetheart, always putting her and her happiness first (swoon) in complete contrast to Lennox's father. The story is well written, fast paced, with lots of chemistry between them which strengthens as the story develops, there's humour, suspense, frienemies, friendship, revenge, jealousy, misunderstanding, forgiveness, and unconditional love and support. Told from dual POVs reveals the thoughts feelings and emotions as they explore their relationship. There's an epilogue and a HEA 💓 Recommended I really enjoyed reading this engaging, entertaining, and compelling story!

Cue the swoon

This was a nice change of pace from my normal dark reading. An adorable sports ⚽️ romance friends to lovers. Very slow burn 🔥 almost done before it even really starts!

Lennox and Summer are the typical opposites attract. The good girl/nerd and the popular guy/jock. She had the perfect parents, he would rather screw around than let his parents history repeat its self. A friendship pact, which put them firmly in the friend zone, was made and a “no touch” clause in place. Lennox helped her be less “dorky” and she helped his avoid psycho hookups. It was perfect except they both wanted each other from moment one.

🗓 3 years later, attraction still there between them, but also adoration and comfort. It’s no wonder they both fell in love 🥰 but neither wanted to be the first to break the pact they made. Lennox thought he would help avoid hurting her by pushing her away. When summer tried to step out and date, Lennox flipped. Everyone has their boiling point, even laid back Summer and Lennox! He claimed it was so everyone would get what they want without giving up their dreams, but was it?

Overall, I would recommend this book and can be read as a complete stand-alone.

simple but effective
Lennox, baseball player still in college. Uses a dating site for hook ups and passed on one particular girl. Summer, studying to be a doctor but working in a cafe bar, clam no-nonsense type and realises Lennox swiped over her profile when he steps into the work place meeting another girl for a hook up. They agree to be friends, with a stipulation is without falling in love. Three 3 years later they are still best friends until a road trip causes them to re-assess because sharing a room and a bed has different consequences. Lennox is jaded and wary because of his father's behaviours and treatment towards his mother involving several women, other offspring before and after the death of his mother, living vicariously as a past star of the field. Summer grew up with a loving father who gave up the possibility of money and fame for his wife and child, poorer and harder working but principled and agreeable.
Can this couple be each others better half...will there be HEA if all the issues they face can be overcome and also they reach their individual dreams. A few home truths needed, facing facts and courage and strength to each other.

3 1/2 Stars!
Lennox and Summer shared a strange and quirky relationship that was strictly platonic even though they both had strong feelings for one another.
It took a long time for them to finally connect and the pacing seemed a bit uneven as their relationship progressed, stalled, and progressed again.
Lots of graphic super steamy scenes when they finally connect only to have Lennox pull back all the while questioning his own feelings.
Lots and lots of drama but no cheating once they finally decided to cross that line.
Somehow Summer was able to read Lennox and see the good in him despite his mixed messages. She maintained her sweetness and hope that ultimately lead to this couple's HEA.

Lovely story.
I loved Summer & Lennox's story starting out as friends who had each other backs for 3 years until their road trip stirs up deeper feelings. I was desperate for them to be together as more than just best friends & was getting so excited when they both tried to hide how they really felt when the odd little touches sent sexual sparks flying but neither acted on it s not wanting to ruin their friendship. Their friendly banter & sexual innuendos had me laughing but then at times it was also quite emotional especially when their families were involved both good & bad. This is a great story of will they won't they that you won't be able to put down once you start reading.

This is a really delightful book, Shandi Boyes has a gift for writing comedy and it is again apparent in this story. Lennox and Summer are amazing characters and I have to say how much I enjoyed Rye, I would have loved a father like him and he is the perfect antithesis to Lennox’s father who is a real sleaze-bag . The transition from friends to lovers is never easy and for Lennox and Summer there is more than one hiccup but the ending is so lovely you will need a tissue for your tears. A must read.

This was a great book and I enjoyed meeting Lennox and Summer. Their chemistry is both hot and extremely palpable. Even the relationship between each character in this book is definitely worth the read.

I’m just wondering if there will ever be something more of this story. Only time will tell.

Ok so when 2 people who have different points of view come together to show the other what it is that they have been missing or what they have already, shows that opposites attract in the best way! I so adored these two characters abilities to make the other laugh. It was a great story written so that you get to delve into each character and see the flaws and the aspects that make these characters unique. Wonderful flow and great descriptive scenes within.

Again a very well-written book by this author.
Her stories seem to just flow from her pen or computer when she writes them.
All the characters work so well together and always get a great connection with them as well.
I never found any spelling mistakes or any holes in the plot of the story.
I do recommend this book to others that are over the age of 18+

This was an excellent read. I laughed and cried. The Chewie defense was a riot! It is a must, must, must read. Friends for three years and hiding the truth from each just as long. Lennox loves her sass and she enjoys their banter. They make the whole together, like Trinity and Neo. God I loved this story.

An absolutely delightful story of friends to lovers.

This book had me laughing out loud as well as cringing at times and my heart squeezing for these delightful characters.
You watch this couple grow and mature, with all the pitfalls that come with that, but with humour, empathy, and honour.
It is funny and upbeat yet has a powerful story that pulls at the heartstrings and plenty of sizzling physical chemistry.

This book is on par with Just Playin' and the others in this series and showcases the excellent storytelling skills of this author.
An absolute must-read and another Rom-Com I would love to see filmed.

A extremely enjoyable sports comedy about two unlikely people who become unlikely bestfriends.

Three years pass and unexpected feelings surface.
Both Lennox and Summer find themselves both hiding and fighting there attraction. Finally when things seem to move forward both are caught surrounded by a few dramas, that seem to surface.
A beautifully written love story.

One of the best friends to lovers books I’ve ever read.

Lennox and Summer are best friends/relationship goals.

Their friendlationship (not sure that’s been used before, but I love it. 😂) starts after Summer saves Lennox from a crazy date/one night stand.

What ensues during their story is hilarious and a little heart breaking sometimes.

So confused

I think this would have been a good story. Very hard to follow with characters being introduced out of the blue. I had to go back servals times to see if I missed something because all of a sudden a new character would just be saying something in the story. I felt it didn’t flow very well
