This may be the best book in the series so far. It moves along quickly and we get a clearer picture of the Kuru prion disease and its natural mitigation in the Libi Nati reserve. The brief vignette in the beginning in New York City seems to be a throwaway, presumably so we get a sense of how awful it is in the parts of the world not involved in the main part of the story. Jess really comes into her own in this book as a strong young woman with a lot to offer the group trying to save the world. I have to like this quote (pertinent for so many reasons)-“That no one is really who you think they are,” he said. “We spend our whole lives creating what we want everyone to see…and it only took a few days to strip it all away.”

Escaping Extinction - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Tara Ellis and Mike Kraus' riveting Escaping Extinction, is a fast and furious battle for survival, set in the Amazon jungle. Massive eruptions and animals becoming rapidly feral, seem to fulfill the ancient legends - now finding a cure is imperative.
Jess' newly-found birth father, Jason, helps her confront Dr Eric Davies (her foster father) and his allies (the 'Immunes' - survivors of the Kuru infestation), to prevent them tyrannically seizing control of what may be humanity's last hope.
Devon, Jason, Jess and the other scientists visit a healing pool with foul-tasting water, trying to find a natural cure for the Kuru and its mutations, guided by the native chieftain's daughter.
What do Jess and the others hope to find at an ancient city? Who's already been there?
What happens after the hot springs erupt?

A fast-paced psychological thriller that will make your spine tingle and give you chills, at how realistic the storyline by Mike Kraus and Tara Ellis is and how relevant in today's world.

Escaping extinction

Fantastic read, brilliant characters. wild primal Amazonian animals that the kra Peru had mutated into their fierce primal species.
The Libi National had erupted again, the kra Peru, had mutated more primally. Now the race was on, between the immune and the cured to find the Lokono’s. Secret Hidden village.

This series has me hooked. And now I have to wait 2 whole days for book 6 comes out! Our 2 groups are now in the same place. The Immune are looking for a way to cure the virus. The Cured (people who have survived the virus but are changed) want to stop the Immune from curing the virus. And a new strain of virus has appeared and it appears to be much worse. I can't wait to read the next book, but I don't want the series to end.

Another excellent book.

Escaping Extinction is number five in The Extinction Series and I loved it. There is not one single negative thing that I could say about this book and the others before it, it's amazing. Everything is starting to come together for our characters and who knows what will happen or who will come out on top. I'm hoping good will climb out over evil, these people who think that they are a superior race will hopefully be defeated. An amazing series so far.

Good Story!

Investors read the earlier books in this series. I am intrigued by the way this is playing out. Just enough suspense to keep me turning those pages; not so much that I want to put it down. Good balance. I like watching the characters grow and mature throughout the series. One book left! What will it hold?

This book moved quickly. It was full of interesting developments and excitement. I really appreciated the detail that went into character development. The back stories and inner lives of the characters made this vastly better than many post apocalyptic fiction books.

In the 5th instalment of the series we see the characters all trying to survive once more now that they have arrived in Suriname now that the Amazon Jungle is starting to attack back.

After having been rescued by ICONS and then running from them to the CDC Peta has to overcome her burdens and chase down the link between the unexplained disasters and the deadly pathogen.

Once The Kuru began Jason tried to gather all the information on the prion disease from those he trusted and set out to find his daughter and anyone left who could help find a cure.

Tyler has proven to be a valuable part of the group since losing his mum and leaving his dad at the CDC lab for him the journey has been personal, he needed to help find a cure not just for his did but before time ran out.

Jessica is now living at the Libi Nati preserve with her nanny Akuba now that her dad has left her after recovered from the sickness and changed but he's not the only one that Jessica has to worry about, the whole jungle is changing.

Was heading for the Amazon Jungle where the source of the prions was located be the right thing to do?
