Max and Valerie are neighbors. He is a professional soccer player, models undies, and is a womanizer. She a curvy female on a reality TV show. He parties all night, loudly, and is an annoying neighbor.

After getting warned by his coach about his behavior and, to eliminate his cougar stalker’s interest, Max asks Valerie for her help in pretending to be his fake fiancée. They make the rules they think need to be in place, but as they are together, the rules didn’t seem so important anymore. Can he convince her that he wants this relationship to be real? Will she believe he is sincere?

I positively do not like so-called discipline, punishment, or spanking themes, feeling they are completely inappropriate as relates to adults. And making sure there are bruises??? Uh, no. For me at least this kind of irrational behavior adds absolutely nothing of value to the story, turns my stomach, and disappoints me in my reading enjoyment. I am not a prude, but this for me is OTT and ruins what might have been a good story.

I never thought this author could write any better but how I was wrong. Max and Valerie are two opposite people but seeing them come together is amazing. Great story, believable characters and I do love a sassy man. I received an ARC for my honest review

An hilarious, sweet and sexy story with absolutely captivating characters in Max and Valerie. Their relationship was so funny and beautiful. I felt for Valerie for the remarks about her weight but Max proved to be so wonderful. A real joy to read.

Barbi Cox has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Valerie and Max. Valerie has a new neighbor that is causing her some problems. He throws parties almost every night and plays the music really loud. She has gone to ask him to turn it down but he just makes her mad. She thinks that he is nothing but a man-whore. He will screw around with a woman and have another one the next night. Valerie unknowing helps Max out one night when she goes over to complain about the music. Max had gotten cornered by Paige and he was not interested. Max has got a problem with Paige, one of the women that was at one of his parties. Paige keeps getting into his house and wanting him to sleep with her. Max is a soccer player and after a game, he is in the coach's office talking when the coach's wife comes in. Max is shocked to see that it is Paige. He has to find a way to get her to go away and leave him alone. He comes up with a plan and it involves Valerie. He goes to Valerie's house and knocks on the door. When she answers, she asks "What do you want?" Max tells her he wants to talk to her. She tells him they have nothing to talk about and to just leave her alone. Max tells her his problem and what he needs. She asks "Why me?" he tells her that she doesn't expect anything from him. They discuss things a little more and she agrees. She set up the ground rules for her helping him. He gave her some ground rules for him. After they get things worked out, he tells her that they have an event they need to go to that night. At first, things for Valerie and Max do not go well. She is wondering why he would be with her since she is a big girl. Max doesn't think that he will have to worry about falling for Valerie since she is not his type but the more time they spend together, the more he wants of her. Valerie has a run-in with her ex-husband at her house and Max is there to run him off. Max tells her to pack some things and takes her to his house. Things are going fine for them until they have to go to an award ceremony for Max. When they get to the event, Max's mother lets him know she is not happy with him being with Valerie. She tells Max that he can do so much better than being with a fat woman. Max's father said "Maxie look." Valerie looks and she sees a gorgeous blonde with a stacked body. She looks like she is a size four and a runway model. Max's father said, "Look at Kristin." He looks at Valerie. "That's gotta hurt... somebody. he practically screams as he eyes her up and down. Then he looks back at Max and said, " Look at her here to support you. I bet she's ready to make up." Ignore him," Max whispered in Valerie's ear. "Max just-" his father insists. "That's enough," Max snarls at his father. "One more comment about Kristin and...." he switches to German. Whatever he said to his father gets him to stop. His father looks between Valerie and Max with confusion as Valerie adjusts her hair and swallows. Because he is right and he knows it. That's the kind of woman that deserves Max. The kind of woman he should be with. Not a fat divorcee. Max wraps an arm around Valerie and sighs. "Don't pay him any attention." He is just being a dick, just like my mom. Are you okay?" "Fine," she assures him. "I want you... You know that, right?" Or was I not clear enough this morning? Need me to tell you again? Show you? He turns her chin to face him. Want to ditch this ceremony and go out?" "You keep this up... "You'll actually believe me?" He chuckles. Then I guess I better continue" Max's parents insist on following them home and as soon as they get inside, Valerie said her good night's and goes up to her room. Max is not going to continue to make Valerie deal with his parents. Max turns on his parents. "I don't appreciate your attitude." His mother tells him that they were just watching out for him. There were so many gold diggers out there and women who just wanted him for his looks." She's that type" his mother said. "I know you can't see it. You're too sweet. you.” People have always taken advantage of you." Max looks at his parents and said "And that stops now. "Leave my fiancee alone. I love her. She is the woman I want to start a family with. If you can't hold your tongue, then stay away from us.
Will things work out for Valerie and Max?

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review *spoilers alert*. Max is a famous soccer player and enjoys hosting loud cazy parties at his place and going through a parade of women, believing in only one-and-done arrangements. His loud parties drives his next door neighbour hot (both figuratively and literally). Valerie is depicted as the large sized curvy girl, just finalising her divorce but being strong and independent with her own career (filming for a reality tv show and her own body positive photoshoot business). The 2 have a rough start, taking an instant dislike to each other which unexpectantly turns to lust and attraction; And when they agree to be fake engaged the 2 catch feelings for each other but Valerie is wary about believing it can be real after everything that has happened to her with her ex. What I loved about the story was that once Max realised his feelings for Valerie were real he never wavered despite all the external criticism and pressure. He set out to prove it to her with patience, love and lust which was hot and sexy. It's sad (but real) what Valerie faces, that people can be cruel to others who they deem less than perfect (fat, scarred, disfigured, different) and her struggles to ignore all the criticism and negativity. What I would have liked the story to address (but maybe it would have been a bit much/ heavy for light hearted reading) was for her to address her weight issue and feelings, to get to a weight and size that she is happy with and feels sexy and confident about, especially since she is selling being body positive. Honestly you can be curvy, large sized and healthy (eat right, exercise, stay in the healthy weight strata etc.) which is body positive or just eat 'garbage' and let yourself go, and do nothing but lament which is not body positive.
But overall I did enjoy the story which flowed well and was an easy sexy read.

Valerie is on a reality tv show and has her own body positive photos and ad campaign. She is constantly harassed and teased by her fellow castmates about her size and even her soon to be ex-husband called her names. She is a strong independent woman who holds her head high through all the taunting and name calling. I hurt for her yet I love her strength, fierceness and sassiness. She has a love hate relationship with her sexy neighbor. He drives her crazy with his loud obnoxious behavior and parties.
Max is a famous soccer player who is a true player he has a different woman every night and never ever does he see the same girl twice. He enjoys irritating his neighbor with his loud music and parties. He ends up with a problem and goes to her with a proposal. They have an instant dislike for each other so they know they won't fall for each other. So they come to a mutual agreement that will help them both so they become fake engaged. What they didn't expect was feelings to emerge but she can't believe what he feels is real she waiting for the joke to hit the fan. I loved how he went to prove his love for her. They were so good together, loving, beautiful, loyal and passionate. I fell in love with their story. I hope we get more of them in future books.

I absolutely love the strong independent curvy female lead in this book.
The comments she had to endure about her body and weight felt painfull. But the story didn't make her dwell it and in her fake fiance she has the doting man who tries to makes sure she's feeling comfortable.
I love the fact the story has some nice steamy encounters, but also the struggle for body confidence of a curvy woman.
From the first encounter it's obvious they're made for eachother even if his family and all the size 0 models think otherwise.
She's the first one who doesn't take his bullshit and calls him on it. She's also the first one testing his patience and speaks her mind not agreeing to everything he does and says.

This book rocks!!! The story of Max and Valerie is full of sass and fun and is an absolutely pleasure to read! They start out as neighbors and she keeps showing up to tell him to turn his music down. They don't like each other much and enjoy getting on each other's nerves. But one night will change everything. Soon, Max is trying to save his soccer career and fend off his coach's wife. His plan, have Valerie be his fake fiance. She agrees but soon, it's not fake, at least not for Max. When his parents show up full of derogatory comments, he stands up for Valerie and confesses his feelings. She's not sure it's real and still questions it on their wedding day, which will be the first day of the rest of their wonderful life together.

The goal posts moved
There’s a lot going on in this one… an enemies-to-lovers, fake fiancé romance story about neighbours Valerie and Max. They hadn’t even met each other yet and she hated him and what he stood for – lots of partying and wild times until the wee hours of the morning. She spent way too much time frustrated listening to and watching his antics, knocking on his door asking, then telling him to quieten down.
And the hot, Max-fuelled fantasies she had about him during her waking and sleeping hours didn’t help either! This little voyeur is going to get herself into some hot and fun trouble! So when he finally turned the tables on her, it was explosive. All of those scenes even had me thinking about the many, many possibilities!
This was a fun and funny read full of angst, manipulation, fantasies, self-doubt, self-belief, girl-power smut and love. Maybe we all need a neighbour like that, LOL! Now I’m looking forward to the rest of the series! Can’t wait!!! I give this book four and three quarter stars.

I really loved this book.
Max and Valerie are total opposites, and watching them come together is amazing.
The attraction and chemistry between them is off the charts.
They fight what they feel every single step of the way and that makes this even more fun.
Both went through some things in life that were not so good, and Valerie's weight is, of course, a constant teasing point, but she endures it beautifully.
This is an amazingly delightful, HOT, and heart warming story.
I couldn't put down this real page-turner that had my feelings all over the place while constantly rooting for them to be together.
Barbi Cox has done it again, and the bar is high for her next book.

I received a free ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Beautifully written enemies to lovers story told from the heroine and hero’s point of views. Full of frustration, anger, drama, angst, hot & steamy sex, and some laughter, this is a five star book.

I like how Max stood up for Valerie and told her how beautiful she was and that being a size 18 is not fat, because it’s not. I understand how Valerie had issues with her weight but I wish she would have gotten over it as she otherwise is a strong, independent woman. I loved the banter between the two, especially when Valerie would show up at Max’s door during a party to tell him to turn the music down. And the scenes when she watched him on his balcony from her bedroom!

This is the first book I have read by Ms. Cox and I’m looking forward to reading more.

Max & Valerie are an absolute delight! Their chemistry is like fire and ice and the banter is great. Val and Max are neighbors and they enter into a relationship of convenience since nether of them anticipate catching feelings for the other. Max quickly realizes that Val is incredible, beautiful and the most selfless woman he’s ever encountered. Because she doesn’t fit the mold of his typical model thin hookups she regularly questions if Max truly likes her, but as time goes in Max proves that he does over and over. If you’re looking for a sweet , fast, steamy romance, check it out! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this book! The characters were fun & entertaining! I couldn’t stop reading until I finished their story. I felt so sorry for Valerie throughout the book. She was a such a strong character but could not understand Max’s true feelings for her. I fell in love with Max! He was funny and caring and hot! Their story was so entertaining! I hope we get more stories from the characters in this book in the future. Definitely a 5 star rating!!

Max is a soccer star who is determined to make the most out of his luxurious lifestyle by having the most fun possible. He´s a playboy thru and thru... he`s cocky, selfish, superficial, and simply obnoxious. Valerie is such a strong woman... I absoulutely loved her - she`s fierce, sassy, loyal, determined, independent, and incredibly smart. They hate each other from the start, but their spark is undeniable. She has very little belief in herself and in her beauty, because of her weight ... but he`s willing to continue showing her just how crazy he is about her. This story was short and steamy, incredibly fun and entertaining. I don´t know what I liked the most - their witty/sarcastic banter or their sexy chemistry!

Max and Valerie had me laughing so many times with the way they constantly bickered over his playboy antics. Valerie is my hero the way she stood strong and proud about being a full figured woman. There's no denying these two are water and oil at first then things heat up real quick and so does their story.

Very good romance, especially due to a very annoying male character.
4.5
I was not a fan of Max's character at the beginning, either in his relationships, in his vision of women and especially of Valerie because she is all curvy, even if he does not understand why he thinks so often about her.
The story is sometimes unpredictable by the way in which the situation evolves between neighbors who do not support each other but observe each other, then when they agree to feign a relationship, in a context of career pursuit for Max and a stalker who holds this same career, and the reality show to which Valerie belongs.
Max's transformation of feelings and character are pretty well written, with some warm passages, and an interesting point that you rarely see with the character of Valerie who knows what to think about her, but tries as hard as possible, to go beyond, without falling into melodrama.

You Go Valerie!!

As woman does not have to be a size two to find a man who loves her no matter her size. Max has proven that in this story. I wanted to hug Valerie through my Kindle just so she knows how truly special she is and how lucky she is to have found her dream man in Max. As an athlete, Max may have been an turd, but knew he found his lifetime partner when he met Valerie. Awesome book and proud of our curvy Val getting her Adonis, Max in the end.

Valerie and Max

This is the first book I've read by this author, and it was a really fun read. I read it in a day. Valerie and Max aren't quite enemies to lovers more like irritating neighbors to lovers. This book also gave us an FMC that is running a company that promotes body positivity. She's a curvy woman, and while she tries her best to be body positive herself, sometimes she needs reminding.

What do you do when you have a neighbor from hell? What do you do when said neighbor drives you up the wall? Yet, there’s something about them? You know that old saying...about there being a fine line between hate and love? Or is it between love and hate? Who cares when there’s a fine a** , I mean an a**hole driving a prefectly sane person nuts. ;-) NO SPOILERS....get your own copy as fast as you can!!!! A must read!!!!!!

'Fake Fiancée Goals' is Barbi Cox's first book in her new series Romance Goals about Val, a curvy reality show star, and Max, a LA Galaxy player and 'manwhore', who are neighbors that can NOT stand each other. Val is a strong, independent, self-confident woman who does not suffer fools. Max is a hard bodied athlete who loves the ladies, ALL the ladies, and parties like a frat boy. Both start to get some bad press and social media digs. Max for his partying and revolving bedroom door and Val for her weight and divorce. They decide to team up and fake an engagement. And the fun begins.

Ms. Cox has written a fabulous book with great main characters and supporting friends. The dialogue is quick, sarcastic, and witty. This story is totally entertaining and I highly recommend the book to all.

A story about how your own lack of self-belief can lead you to not trust the intent of others and their ability to use your non-visual qualities to appreciate who you are. Valerie is someone who is body shamed by past and present people to whom she is close. Max is initially attracted to her sass and critical assessment of his behaviour. The more Max gets to understand Val’s qualities the greater his attraction to her. But Val does not buy it, until Max contrives a scheme to have Val by his side. And from there the story grows.

A great little HEA story that shows perception can make you blind to one’s true feelings.

Valerie is a curvy, newly divorced reality tv star who has been upset about the wild, noisy parties at her new neighbor’s house. Her neighbor, Max, is a multi-millionaire soccer player who also does underwear ads and has other sponsorships. They have several confrontations and are intriguedby each other. Valerie even uses binoculars to view Max’s encounters with women and he just wants to have fun with women now and will worry about responsibilities later when he is older. Valerie is self conscious about her size and Max makes her feel beautiful despite her size. After a warning from his coach and as an attempt to avoid an unwanted cougar’s attention, Max asks Valerie to be his temporary fake fiancé. They agree there will be no sex and no falling In love, but will they be able to stick to those terms as they spend more time together?

I enjoyed this story where the sexy, athletic soccer player becomes involved with the curvy reality star neighbor. Valerie has been criticized by her ex husband and the women she is with on the show because of her size. These cruel people have hurt her by calling her fat and she agrees to the fake relationship to get the press off her back. There were lots of steamy sexual encounters in the book with the sexy soccer star but the author also let you see another side of this playboy. The epilogue was a great ending for their story.

Opposites attract and more

Fake Fiancée Goals is the first book in the Romance Goals series and is opposites attract romance between neighbors. The story is about newly divorced Valerie and perpetual playboy Max. When Max moves to a new house he causes all sorts of problems for his neighbor Valerie. She likes her quiet life while he likes to throw noisy parties. After a number of confrontations between the two they have a good sparring going on. But soon that animosity turns into something different and then the sparks really fly between these two.
This is a story that I sort of liked and not at the beginning. But I soon got into the story and then I was really hooked and loving it. The story-line is nicely plotted with some twists to the usual fake engagement/relationship story. By the end I did like Max, even if at the beginning I wanted to kick his a$$ more than once. I enjoyed Valerie right from the start and she really goes through it all in this one with an ex that was not nice and did a number of her self-esteem and then there are other woman who are also cruel towards her just because she is beautiful and curvy.

Let's give it up for the curvy women of the world as well as Ms. Barbi Cox for creating a wonderful new release for all of us romance junkies. Her latest release is an enemies to lovers romance, as it is also a must read publication.

Inside these addictive pages, we are introduced to Valerie and Max. He is a well sought after Soccer star and her brand spanking new German neighbor.
Valerie is a reality star and a recent divorcee, who is surrounded by venomous women. But with the addition of Max, clearly, her life is about to become a whole lot of more interesting. I suggest, all fans of must read romance, to follow their journey to their happily ever after. I can promise you that Ms. Cox provides a well thought out plot of extremely entertaining banter and steam for each of us.

Ms. Barbi Cox has crafted a beautiful book where the characters are believable and you'd certainly like to know them, intimately.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Fake Fiancée Goals in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion. Trust me, this Author's a superstar in my book.

The Housewife and the annoying sexy neighbor.

Valerie is awaiting her final divorce papers from a man who left her because she "let herself go." She's dealing with catty so called friends on a reality show, who also dig at her about her weight. She's starting her own business, and while she may not be a single digit number woman, she's beautiful and curvy. There's one more problem, her man-whore, soccer player neighbor who likes wild, loud parties and loose women. These two have practically started a war because Valerie is losing sleep behind these parties, and watching this perfect specimen of a man exhibit his kinks from her window isn't helping. The two have a run in when she goes over to complain about a party and Max can't resist Valerie's curves. They have an intense bathroom rendezvous that leaves Val speechless and Max thinking of no one else. When Max gets a stalker that turns out to be his coaches wife he needs something to deter her from showing up in his bed naked. Since Valerie hates him, she can play his fake fiancée and they both will get what they need without catching feelings...Right??

Valerie is a making the best of her life after her divorce from Alex. Valerie makes her money on modeling her own business wares and housewife's. Valerie is so done with her new neighbor Max with his party every night. Max is a famous soccer star. Max looks at life as it's to short and you might as well have fun when your young. Max also doesn't like to give up control to anyone until Valerie. Valerie believes that Max is just playing around when he keeps on telling her that he likes her and then eventually telling her that he loves her and doesn't care on what people think. I loved Max and Valerie's story. It's a great example of enemies to lovers. The story line is great as well as the characters. I saw so much of myself in Valerie. As a plus size girl myself, I've never been teased for my weight, but I did have the self esteem issues. Max, Morgan, and Janine really helped her stand up for herself and realize her beauty is inside and out. The banter between them was hilarious as well. Truly enjoyable read!
