I was burning alive and didn't even know it.

Until they rescued me...

My days are spent in the Burn Unit at the hospital I work as a nurse at, supporting those who have kissed the red hot flames that consumed their world and survived to tell the tale. Until the tables are turned and I am now the one in the hospital bed after being rescued by three firefighters.

Their silhouttes appeared in the darkest moment of my life, pulling me out of the shadows I had been living in. Now when I have nothing and no one, they insist I can lean on them.

I want to, I really want to, but how can I when the same person who burnt my house to the ground is running around the city leaving smoldering tributes in my name?

They want me. I want them. But he wants to consume me, just like his fires. Maybe I should let him so that I can protect them.

Then again, a firefly only knows to burn brighter the darker it gets.

This was one I was looking forward to. It sounded unique and I’d binge watched 9-1-1 at the time of pre-order. I dunno on this one. I liked the first couple of chapters, with Sophia’s intro and how she got to where she was. The arsonists parts were chilling. As for the relationships, Porter was sweet and Alden had the girlfriend baggage to deal with. Darren was the leader of the trio. Its sweet and light with hurt/comfort but at the same time every time beautiful or hot came up, it just felt very superficial. Really the only connection they had was that their families knew each other in the past and they’d just forgotten each other. The comfort moments were sweet and I did like how Sophia could handle herself. The bad guy was dealt with quickly in an action scene and the the HEA years later.

Let me start by stressing how much I love and respect firefighters. I'll tell just about anyone, there's just something about knowing someone will run into a burning building to save another person. There's simply not enough first responder RHs in general, but definitely not with firefighters, and I've been looking forward to this one since it was announced. It did not disappoint. The FMC is feisty, independent, but also sweet and caring. She gets three also caring and sweet, but strong and gorgeous boyfriends who rescue and protect her. There's a bit of ow drama with one of the guys having an on again/off again relationship to start, but it wasn't major to me (even with how sensitive I am) and no cheating. No om drama or mm. None were virgins, no specifics on how long it's been, and this is the first time of the guys sharing a woman. The story is told in first person, multi-POV, including POVs from the bad guy stalker.

All of the main characters knew each other when they were younger but lost touch and aren't brought back together until the FMC is hurt in a house fire that's set by a stalker determined to have her. So we get some suspense/danger in addition to relationship development with them in the present. There's also hurt/comfort as they care for her with her burn injuries. Supportive friends and family surround them and this was a lighter/sweet read despite the stalker/danger. There's steaminess, including a threesome, and romantic moments. The story ends with a HEA and an extended epilogue several years out. This was a great read and I loved that it was a standalone so it overall fit perfectly for my mood.

Ok read

I didn't read a lot of RH with firefighters so I was intrigued by this one. I found the storyline ok.
I like the fact that the FMC was a nurse in a unit specialized to treat burns.
It was a bit unclear how and why they lost contact with their former childhood friends and their families...🧐 This part didn't really make sense.
Anyway I liked how the guys worked together to help her heal and to protect her.
It was a good read.

Sophia's father was a hero. He died in the line of duty fighting fires. Her brother followed in his footsteps becoming a firefighter and Sophia became a nurse in the burn unit. So how ironic is it that she finds herself at the mercy of a house fire? Just as all hope is lost, three heroes enter her life and rescue her in more ways than one.

This was my dream RH. Alden, Darren, and Porter are sweet, sexy heroes. FIREMEN! My not so secret fantasies. I loved the brotherhood of the station and especially the three. The story captured the dedication and comradery of the firehouse instead of glossing over the danger of their lives. Too many stories play up the sexy image and ignore the reality. These men had depth. The story was full of drama and suspense. I appreciated how even in the midst of loss, pain, and danger, Sophia was never a damsel. But my favorite aspect was how not only did they guys bring love into Sophia's life but they brought back her extended family. She had lost so much and spent her life serving others. And boy, was she rewarded in the end.

Sophia is no stranger to fire. A nurse in the burn unit and the daughter of a firefighter, she was raised in the presence of flames. After her father died over a decade ago, she'd fallen out of touch with the fire department. That is, until her home is goes up in flames—with her in it. Three childhood friends swoop in for the rescue. Investigation into the fire shows it was intentionally set, and soon other structure fires pop up in places Sophia is more than a little familiar with. It soon becomes clear the arson is after her. Will she escape him unscathed, or will her entire world go up in flames?

I learned something about myself reading this. It appears I like my romance spicy, dark, heavy, and full of triggers. This had some decent steam but was far too sweet for me, and too light of a read. However, that's just my thoughts. If you're looking for a slow-burn, sweet reverse harem romance that's a quick read, this might be the book for you.

I think reverse harem books are fast becoming my favourite genre right now. This book had so much goodness in it; sexy fireman, drama and suspense, a great best friend and lots of love and support. The plot was fabulous and had me reading avidly all day. I totally had the wrong baddie down as the perpetrator, I’m useless at predicting these things, and it kind of makes me happy that I got a surprise.

Sophia seems to be plodding along with her life; work, sleep, repeat. That’s it. No kind of social life to speak of. Then, after an awful occurrence, she finds herself being looked after by the men who saved her; Alden, Darren and Porter, and they are deliciously sexy, caring and hard to resist. The story is hot, dramatic and addictive, what more could you want?

I will be recommending this book to all my reverse harem girls and be asking others to try it too.

This was such a nice read. After all the dark and twisty books I have read in the last couple days, paired with some very hectic days at my work, I needed a cleanse. And this was perfect. No drama from the harem. Just a straight out friends to lovers RH romance and it was so good! Sophia is a nurse at her local hospital's burn unit. The three men are the local firefighters. Guys she somewhat remembers from when she was a kid. Such a cute and romantic story set with a backdrop of an serial arsonist hell-bent on having Sophia for himself. The guys storm into her life after an incident and she needs constant. Cue in the sexy firemen, Darren, Porter and Alden.

This book pretty much has everything you need. Drama, suspense, and sexy firemen.

I thought I knew who the arsonist was but, nope, absolutely wrong. My face? Shocked.

It's so great to read KB Everly again. It's been awhile and she really does know how to tell a story.

I guess you kinda get what you're asking for, but I just felt like nothing really happened until like 90% into the book. I mean, you hear about a few incidents, but other than that the writing is mostly just descriptive. There are some cute moments between her and the guys, but I didn't really feel them falling in love either. The book isn't bad though, I liked the whole fire aspect (firefighters, burn unit et cetera), but it just felt a little bland.

Great Read

This is something really different out of your usual contemporary RH tropes! 😃
A lovely heart-warming read, with HOT firefighters who rekindle a connection with a childhood friend when she’s caught in a fire! It turns out there’s more to it than meets the eye and these guys care and protect Sophia from the danger she faces whilst also bring her spark back!

K.B. Everly has written this reverse harem suspense novel with 3 firefighters as our heroes and a tough nurse as our heroine. It's my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it.

A lot of RH that aren't dark tend to start out with a bit of insta-love or at least lust, this one differed from that path. For our characters to come together this time they knew each other as children so it makes their coming together much more believable.

There is a really nice story behind the relationship as well as plenty of suspense to keep you interested. On top of that, the characters are all easy to like and fall for.

It was a good story that I enjoyed and if there is more like this on K.B.'s bookshelf I'll be looking forward to reading them.

.
.
As a nurse in the burns unit and the daughter of the former firefighter chief, Sophia has always been caring for others. Her father has always taught her how to stay safe. Her job means everything to her and helping others where the brave firefighters leave off means a lot to her. Even after a fire took her father she's never resented his career. But no matter the lengths she has gone to, a fire is a beast that even she can't prepare for.

Darren, Alden, and Porter work at the fire station loving their jobs, even on the hard days. They are sons of firefighters and grew up around the station with all the other fire kids. When a call comes in the address shakes something loose for Darren and it's not long before he recognizes the address as their past fire chief's address. The address his only daughter lives at. Suddenly remembering the little girl that was always around their worry increases and they race faster to the site.

Arriving just in time they save Sophia but not before the fire destroys the house and injures Sophia. While in hospital they watch over her and keep tabs on her for her brother who lives away. When she recovers it's clear that she's going to need some help while getting back on her feet. Her brother asks the three men if they would mind her staying with them while she heals. Sophia feels unsure about the plan but goes along with it even if she's uncomfortable with the grown men she only knew as boys.

It's not long before the lines blur while they care for Sophia. They all live for their careers and have never found how to juggle their extreme schedules and a relationship. Bit by bit they fall into an easy living arrangement and they let their walls down and start to explore what it is between them all. Sophia has no idea what to make of each of the men, she is conflicted about her feelings for the three men who have become friends and have started to mean something to her.

Sophia's injuries and mixed feelings will be the least of their worries though when it becomes clear that the fire that almost killed her wasn't an accident and whoever is after her isn't done.

The guys will have to work out their feelings for Sophia and keep her safe, then when it's all done see if their relationship can become more than the chemistry swirling between them.

Happy Reading.

I really enjoyed this firemen reverse harem contemporary romance. I thought Sophia was an awesome MC, I enjoyed her inner monologues, her quirkiness but her stubborn/steadfastness as well. She was a total BA but finally let her walls down when she needed help because of some terrible things going on in her life (perpetuated by a crazy stalker).

The firemen are all delicious and bring something to the table of the relationship. I like how the story unfolded honestly. It wasn't necessarily fast-paced, but it wasn't slow either. Sophia and the guys let their love blossom (some without knowing it haha) and they were there for her and brought them also back to life from the mundane/comfortable life they were living before. It felt organic despite it being a weird living situation. I did enjoy one of the guys was instantly in the harem, it added some angst/tension in this adorable story. I loved the family aspect with the fire house and their loved ones. You could feel the love jump off the pages, some moments definitely got me teary-eyed. I enjoyed seeing the dynamics with some of the parents, lots of laughs with them haha. I don't think I could pick a favorite of the guys, they all were lovely (IF I had to I probably would pick Porter but it would be close!). This story was light, cute, and romantic. I loved it and wished we got more from these awesome characters. Maaaaybe a spinoff in the future so we can get cameos??? One can hope ❤️

Would definitely recommend, this was a great palate cleanser from some of the darker books I have been reading/listening to. It helped bring my spirits up while I wasn't feeling great, so I am so happy the author took the time and really gave these characters their story. She did a great job! OH and those firefly references/quotes were amazing, I saved some of them, they were fabulous (one made me instantly think of an idea for a tattoo!).

All right if I were to use 10 words or less to describe this book, I would use firemen, drama, suspense , stalker, reverse harem , confident female character, hot, explosive.

Without giving much away I truly love this story. I also fully believe that reverse harm are currently becoming my go to to read at this current moment.

We have Sophia who is a nurse in a burn unit. She is following the saps of her father and her brother. Her father was a firefighter who died in the line of duty and her brother is also a fire fighter as well. She works on the other end helping the victims of those fires recover. One night after 818 hour shift Sophia comes home and go straight to bed what do you think about happens at our house catches fire. It is only until she is rescued by three hot fire fighters does this story really unravel. We learned that Sophia is being stalked and the fire in her house was intentional. With nowhere to go her brother calls on their childhood friends Porter, Darren, Alden. who also happen to be the three firefighters who rescued Sophia to help her. They take her in and they all begin to fall in love with her while at the same time trying to discover who her stalker is.

What I absolutely love is that not only be we get to see the recovery that Sophia has to go through with everything that she suffered in the fire. But it’s also kind of a slow burn. Where Sophia at first doesn’t really want to admit to herself that she is starting to fall for all of them at the same time. She feels guilty when she kisses Porter but then goes and kisses Darren. I absolutely enjoyed that we get to see her shift and acceptance in this relationship that she enters and she doesn’t really feel complete until after she also has Alden into the mix.

Also the epilogue really does help tie things together.

The Bookish Girl Reviews

Fire Fly is a thrilling story about Sophia who is an RN that works on a burn unit in a hospital. She comes from a family of firefighters so this would only come natural to her - taking care of those with burns. But, on one evening, Sophia experiences a tragedy of her own. While she is sleeping, her home catches on fire.

She is rescued by Darren, Porter, and Alden but not without becoming a victim to the flames, herself. Darren rushes her out of the house, performs CPR, and immediately becomes infatuated with Sophia.

While in the hospital, she has a conversation with her brother who wants her to come and stay with him and his wife so that they can care for her. Sophia refuses because she doesn't want to be a burden on them because they also have a new baby. So, her brother comes up with an idea and makes arrangements for her to go stay at the fire station where Darren, Porter, and Alden work.

The three guys take care of her and help her down the long road of recovery. But while she is in their care, someone is starting fires in her name. Someone has become obsessed with Sophia.

Although I was praying that Sophia ended up with Darren, this is a why-choose. Sophia forms a relationship with all three guys. And all three guys are on board with sharing her.

There is some spiciness to this book, but not so much that you think you're reading porn. I enjoyed it, the story is well thought out, it kept me guessing on who the firebug was, and I was surprised at the end when he was revealed.

Firefly by KB Everly

I was given the book by the author for an honest review.

Its been a hot second since I have read anything by KB because like has been crazy for everyone. This is the first book she has gotten out in awhile, so I jumped to get a copy. I mean firefighters…scratch that….alpha hot fireman and a RH so #WhyChoose…I am on board.

I loved the premise of the book. Sophia is caught in a fire when some tall dark drinks of water save her. Intro said tall dark drinks of water Alden, Porter, and Daren. These men jump in and help her at her worse. They are there to kiss away the boo boos and kiss other things *wink*.

Sophia and her hotties are on the case to find out the why and more importantly the who in what happened to her. I loved the plot twists and turns. Each one had me more excited and wanted to see what happens!!!!!

I thought this was a great book to dip her toe back into the crazy world of publishing. Fans of her will be in love with the characters. New people to the story will find a new favorite to read.

First off let me say it is so good to have a new release from K. B. Everly. I'm always a fan of her work. Firefly is a contemporary RH that was a cute, lighter read for me. Sophia is our leading lady and she's a pretty tough cookie. She's a nurse in the burn unit, the daughter and sister of a firefighter. So she is no stranger to fire and burns. She never expected to find herself on the patient side of the bed though. With no family close to help her out when disaster strikes, she reconnects with some old friends who step up to the plate. Darren, Alden and Porter remember Sophia from their childhood and are more than happy to lend a hand. Sophia didn't end up in her position by accident though and that little mystery is something they will have to work together to figure out.

I really enjoyed the more relaxed pace of Firefly. The characters were very easy to care for. The story was easy to follow and still had enough going on to keep you interested. I can honestly say I was so wrong about who I thought the bad guy was. That doesn't happen too often and I actually love when it does. We had some sexy times of course. These firefighters know how to keep it hot. It was just an overall enjoyable read.

I at first didn't know what to expect after reading just the blurb. I for one have such tremendous respect for our Firemen and any and all first responders who give their lives to protect us each and every day. So hell yeh, Firemen and when there's 3 of them yeh I knew I had to read it and it did not disappoint. Sophia and her boy's Darren, Porter and Alden i just fell in love with them. What started out as a friendship to her and her brother when they were younger to caring and helping her while she recovered from what happened to her to developing into a love between them all and throw in a lil suspense and some laughter definitely makes for an interesting story.
Sophia is a strong, gorgeous, caring woman who happens to be a burn unit nurse oh and a cat mom to a fur baby called smoky. She came home one night from work only to wake up with her house on fire and struggling to get out before she's trapped when a board falls on her and traps her and just as she's about to succumb to the smoke someone say's “Hang on, Sophia. We got you.” that's all I'm saying you'll just have to read it and find out. There were no cat's harmed in the writing of this story js.😏

I would definitely recommend.

I really wanted to love this. The book started out good, but the editing issues in the second half of the book, and the plot/character problems in the last 40% were just horrible. Some characters became too stupid to live in order to drive drama, and instead I just wanted to scream at them. So many of the editing issues were misused words, missing punctuation, phrases that were ALMOST common phrases, but weren't because they were written in ways that did not make sense at all. There were a lot of sentences with redundant language, and this became so bad that I wondered if the author was adding words just to pad the length of the book.

I read on Kindle, so I highlight things I like, things I need to remember, errors, things I think are stupid, etc. I had more "bad" things highlighted than pages in the book. This doesn't happen very often at all.

Pros: I love the supporting characters and their support for the main quad. I mostly like the main characters, until the too stupid to live moments pop up.
Cons: The editing, especially in the second half. Previously smart characters turning off their brains.

Sophia’s entire life revolved around her job in the burn unit, but she never thought that she would end up there as a patient! Fortunately her neighbors saw the fire in time to save her life. With her house destroyed, she had nowhere to go until her brother called on some childhood friends. The same men who happened to have been the firefighters who saved Sophia’s life. The more time she is around them, though, the more she realizes that she is falling for them. ALL of them! When her house caught on fire, she thought that she had lost everything. In reality she was only starting to find her everything.

This was a comfortable read for me. While there was an attempt at suspense, I felt like it was a little too obvious for me to be on pins and needles waiting for the reveal. There were some spicy scenes but nothing too overt or involved. Overall, it was entertaining and a good read!

It's been awhile since I got my hands on one of Everly's books and this one did not disappoint my anticipation!

Sophia is beautiful, funny, stubborn and a fighter. She refuses to be a damsel in distress. She's also not shy about how she feels and doesn't let the opinion of others deter her from being with her men.

Darren, Porter, and Alden are from her childhood. They were her older brother's friends and who even at their young age were drawn to her. They lost touch after time and went their separate ways only to be reunited after a tragic event. Now she has the attention of 3 very sexy firefighters.

This book is an easy flowing, low partner drama, just enough spicy read. I found it a refreshing change to the usual drama filled romances.

"I will never feel ashamed for the way I feel about you. Besides, I like fireflies. They only know how to burn brighter the darker it gets.”- Sophia

Reverse harem is my favorite trope, and add in sexy firefighters? Yes please. This was a nice break from the dark angst I'm usually drawn to. It had some great sparks of humor, and the added suspense kept me on my toes. I was completely wrong on who the bad guy was!

This is a true friends to lovers romance. Sophia and the guys knew each other as children, and I really liked that they rebuilt a connection before anything sexual happened. The way they cared for her was so sweet, you could see them all gradually fall for her. The spicy scenes were absolute fire (haha- because, firemen!)

So this is the first time I've read anything by Mrs. Everly. I had kind of been in a reading slump lately, where I've been reading stuff that I've read before over again.

I really liked Sophia, she was a strong mfc. She has lost a lot in her lifetime. So it wouldn't have been a surprise if she wasn't as strong. But I thought she was a breath of fresh air. I liked her toughness and her sassyness.

I loved Darren, Porter, and Alden. I loved these three to death.

I'm really glad I found this book, I really enjoyed it. There was mystery and suspense and the smexy times were fire. I'll be checking out this authors other books.

I'm giving this book 4 Stars out of 5!!!!

Overall this was a cute read. I liked the characters but also felt like I didn’t really get to know them, especially the men. I realize it’s a shorter book and that contributed to it. Overall the storyline was predictable but enjoyable up until the end. I mean these normally smart people all of a sudden become complete idiots. The biggest thing that bothered me is when confronting the psycho maybe send the guy with the gun to do it instead of the unarmed man? I don’t know, just a thought. Also the way Sophia took care of it all was a little over the top and ridiculous. You’d think the safety of yourself and your men would be more important then making a point. So the ending brought the book down a little bit for me.

Sophia, Darren, Porter e Alden🥰

Nessun altro.

Amore vero e puro.
Storia raccontata da tutti i PoV, descritta bene.

Consigliata la lettura!

Firefly is sure to ignite your senses. This book has drama, suspense, and sexy firefighters.

Who doesn’t love a bunch of sexy firefighters?

Sophia is a nurse in the Burn Unit. Living for her job with no time for anything else. When she feels the flames of fire herself and ends up in the burn unit as a patient, the last thing she expects are the three hunky firemen waiting to help her out. But danger is lurking around the corner, waiting to engulf Sophia in its flames….can the guys keep her safe or will she go up in smoke?

Firefly is a cute easy read, that flowed well with enough spice to keep things interesting. If you love a good RH and sexy firefighters this story is for you 🔥🔥.

Sophia is a nurse who works in the burn’s unit, and has no social life to speak off, and when she becomes the victim of a house fire, three sexy firefighters come to her aid. Alden, Darren, and Porter are sexy, caring, and protective, and when it is discovered that Sophia has a stalker, and that she her fire was set by an arsonist, they are determined to unveil the person responsible. This is a well written reverse harem, friends / lovers’ romance, with drama, suspense, danger, intrigue, friendships, family, and love, which leads to a compelling page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This book was totally worth the wait!!!! Most of the contemporary firefighter romances that I have read are very cheesy and do not have a real emotional depth to them, but this book really tugs at the heartstrings. Sophia is such an amazing character with a strength that most people do not possess, she has been through so many tragedies in her young life, yet she keeps persisting and living her life. I like that Sophia and the guys help each other come to the realization that even though the work that they do is important they can still have lives outside of it and build strong relationships.

Okay so if you are looking for something to read with some heat in it, I mean like literally, found you just the book to read.

Oh yeah and do not forget some drama and suspense. And Firefly makes for one entertaining read.

Sophia is like what most of us seem to be, we just go through our life just working and eating and sleeping, hitting repeat. Until one fateful day, she is saved by Alden, Darren and Porter. But are they looking after her just to be good men, or do they want something from her? Maybe her heart?

Guys, run do not walk to read this book, promise it is worth it.
