I was very excited to read another book from Jack Porter after the excellent 'Champion' novel, but this story just did not grip me at all. First off, there are simply too many women, I can't remember if it's 8 or 9 but they are all extremely sexually forward college girls with perfect bodies who seem to have zero issues with stripping down to their swimsuits or less whatever chance they get. The MC is supposed to be some sort of sexy professor who the girls are attracted to while he is totally innocent and oblivious to their desires. It just makes it very hard to connect or care about these people.
Also I didn't find the 'survive on dino island' action adventure stuff to be that interesting either. I can see the appeal of a lighter jungle adventure if you are burned out on fantasy, but I personally wasn't gripped.
The author is no doubt good at writing and the dialogue isn't too bad, but this just isn't a very interesting book.
The author must not be a diver he made too many mistakes. He doesn't mention depths but they don't seem deep enough for decompression. Tanks are not full of oxygen. Usually just air, nitrox, or heliox. He mentions getting short of breath while running out of air. That doesn't happen, it just stops. Using the hose for a shower? The hole inside is really small.
Felt like I was reading an instruction manual. Too descriptive and the best part of the book was the 6 strange women. If I read the second book it would be for that and that only.
add 1 star If you are not into monster girls Transported to another world, Harem, Sex scenes, Survival /fort building. Very similar to, but specifically different from TAMER: King of Dinosaurs. (More than the legally required 15% different at least) Jungle King doesn't even rhyme with Tamer. In Jungle King everyone is from earth, and they travel in a group. The "harem" is a college class and professor (and NO, he isn't banging a single one of them -at first). The group stays on "earth". The harem is entirely comprised of human -non monster women. The MC solo male is older and starts out in a position of authority. The MC has self confidence, but lacks moral entitlement. The monstrous beasts here are more from Skull island or Anaconda than from Jurassic park.
This is the second Jack Porter book I've read and I like this guys style. Almost no alpha male bullshit, conflict escalation, or pointless measuring contests. A decent guy trying to do right, respectful of women as people, but not afraid of flirting back. The sex comes late in this book, but that serves the story well. Sadly the female characters are this stories weakest link. The pacing is pretty brisk cutting out the tedious BS, such as the work is described as tasks completed not as actions being preformed. And wile the MC is an older (than usual post teen MC's) man and a college professor Jack Porter does a good job of avoiding the creep factor. There is even a perfectly logical reason by 12 girls are all in bikinis for the whole book, and that is a feat in itself. Slow start strong finish.
My name is Dusty McDusty, and I was a guard at San Quentin for 25 years. The rumors are true. I knew Charles Manson.
Charlie was on my block, and I knew the crazy old cult leader better than almost anyone, except maybe Warden B.J. McKay who spent a lot of time taking guitar lessons from old Charlie. And let me tell you these days B.J. sure can play the blues. But I am getting off topic (whatta the fancy folks say? I distress). I am here to confess something to you all. Jack Porter is the pen name of Charles Manson. There is NO Jack Porter. In fact, I found the manuscript for Jungle King in Charlie's pillowcase after he was taken away for his colon cancer.
Don't believe me? Well, you can always ask Warden McKay. Or you could just read the Jungle King and see the thinly veiled autobiography of Charlie and his family. I'll be damned to hell if Killer, that pet Dr. Mont Blanc and his family of girls try to domesticate isn't Tex, and that Titanaboa has to be the Tate-La Biancas murders. Hell, all the signs are there!
Read it for yourself and see. My conscience is now clear. The world knows the truth. My soul can rest in peace.
Okay, so this wasn’t a bad read. I enjoyed the story and the action. I read this mostly on audible and I just didn’t enjoy the narration at all. But the story was good. I probably won’t continue with the series though.
3.5 to maybe 4 stars, I really like these type of books. This one was okay/pretty good... It is not for everyone (adult content) but I am okay with it. I love the world building and getting dropped somewhere with nothing and try and start from nothing...
There is no backstory or hypothesis as to how they got to the jungle world. Its always more engaging when there is reason that we can wrap our minds around, even if its completely wrong or utter bs. Second, none of the female characters stand out. I know there are italian twins, a biker chick, a hippie and a research assistant. However, none of them have done anthing to seperate themselves from the others, so no emotional bond has bern formed. They are all smart capable women who have adapted to their new reality, but they all still remain pretty much faceless. I see that there are now 3 books in the series, l may read more but maybe not.
The novel is crazy blend of The Lost World and a high quality porno that just makes you want to see it’ll the end. The story gives you just Enough to not question the impossibility of how the chacthers got there in this strange world with theories and them actually think why(this was one of the main reasons I like the story when they actually try figure out the truth not outer author’s been lazy). All this leads to a truly great novel for reads interested in dinosaur or survival thriller novels that I’d say read if asked.
Finding oneself in a prehistoric environment with 12 attractive women can’t be all that bad. And as the tale goes, it isn’t though there are some harrowing times and bloody fights. As survival goes in a world out of ones time this tale is surprisingly fun to read and enjoy. If the reader allows his imagination to run rampant he would be back in Tarzans world with 12 Janes. Seriously though, this is a good read, fine story, and is filled with enjoyable characters. Sure hope the next in the series comes soon.
That’s about all. It is really boring. Like paint by numbers boring. Basically, it a book where this happens, then that happens. Then this other thing happens. It reads like an instruction manual. The characters are boring too.
This book was extremely entertaining to me. The story just sucked me right into it and I did not want to put it down. The MC is interesting and the world building is really interesting. Terror bird's are scary.
This was entertaining all the way through. Didn't want to stop reading it. Taking care of 12 women that are more than willing to take care of you because your busy saving their lives. Great book. Going to read whatever books this author has and is going to put out.

The reviews i read were pretty mixed, so I decided to give this book a try. I wasn't disappointed. While some of the complaints were valid now that i have read the story. This author isn't trying to be Tolken here, and doesn't have a big team of assistants or a major publisher. So bearing that in mind, don't expect a perfectly polished book for like 4 bucks. I would have given it 5 stars but even after allowing for the limitations the author has, i had some trouble with the action/fight scenes towards the end. Like the monster's size seemed to change or the flow of the fight was a bit jumbled. I would recommend this book tho. Looking forward to the next one.
This is a man's wet dream. It's very different story line of mysterious island take on castaway. 1 man 12 women plus the native women and prehistoric predators and RIDICULOUS amount of danger, makes this series on the edge of your seat captivated. You won't want to put this book down. Makes you think what would you do in the jungle kings place. Big snakes, killer birds, and anything else you can imagine. I really can't wait to read the rest of the story. Will they want to return to their old lives. I wonder how many will have babies at the end if the story. A must read and 5***** Good reading!
I read a lot of books, short stories and then the large tomps. This is not your typical harem read. It's interesting and makes sense. Yes he does have lots of action, but it's in a true life kind off way. We would all like to live free and feel the closeness he has with these women, and they are smart enough to accept it and work together to make a life with love and caring. Thanks Jack for bringing back something exciting, sexual, and the caricatures are real people.
This book is hysterically bad. Before I opened this book I didn’t think that a fedora could write a book. The toxic male fantasy explored in this “novel” make non-sexual interactions sexual and do nothing but objectify the female characters. The characters are made of wet cardboard and there is nothing titillating about anything that happens here.
For God’s sake, there’s an non-ironic use of “m’lady” from the male MC towards one of the females in his harem. If you need a laugh, go for it. If you’re looking for anything thought provoking, look elsewhere.
Such a different type of book. I would have liked for there to have been more sex scenes fully described and have a series continuing the story. To me if this happens the book will probably be higher than a five. It would also be great to have all of the girls spending more one on one with their king. The characters are vivid enough that they are easily pictured in my mind.
Don't let the cover fool you. I thought this would mostly be a sex flick although there was sex it was mostly a pretty good syfy book about a college professor and his all girl class sucked through a portal to a prehistoric world. With creatures like Dinosaurs, Terror Birds, and giant snakes waiting for them. And I know those creatures doesn't supposed to be on earth at the same time but it's not necessarily our earth. Note this isn't a stand alone.
This book was everything I thought it would be and more. I came in expecting an entertaining romp and got one filled with lush imagery and vivid encounters with terrifying beasts. And despite the name, the main character was not an overpowered misogynistic fantasy as I worried might be the case. So, nice surprise there. Overall 4/5, would read again, would love to read more and see where the series could go.
Premise is cool and book flows well. Dialogue is done well enough that you really can get into the story. If this genre is your thing you’ll enjoy these books. The best thing is that the harem elements aren’t an excuse to increase the word count. So many books of this type are just porn with a weak plot to get from on sex scene to the next. While there is plenty of sex at least the plot is not an afterthought.
Fun land of the lost type story. One guy and lots of girls. Fun times of the dinos dont eat them. Not much sexy time considering but that's not a put off. The story is steady and flows well from exploration to homestead building. Id like to see more innovation in the next book. There was some here near the end. Obviously they need to advance their tech especially with the extra mouths to feed. Looking forward to more.
3.5 stars After some of my recent reading, I wanted a book where the MC wasn't an asshole, wasn't an idiot, and most importantly, didn't treat every women he met like they were dirt. My history with other Jack Porter books gave me hope and my faith was well placed. While it's probably won't make anyone's top books list, it was an enjoyable story and left me with positive feelings after reading it.
Not much to say really. It's another isekai-ish survival novel but.. that's the stuff I like. The book was enjoyable, but it seemed like a lot of the characters got ignored through most of the book. Only 3-4 were talked about at all, and then the end he introduced more characters. I dunno.
It does not quite have the thrill and emotions of the wraith looking as yet (if you have not read the wraith king series check it) but it will is still a fine read. Nothing too implausible other than one of the girls is a vegetarian-- no vit B12-- but she is not mentioned after the 1st few days.
I really liked how this book turned out. Liked the dynamics of how things turned out. The story progressed nicely. The characters are believable. Just wish that there was more character interactions then what was there. And some characters didn't even say anything for the entire book then they introduced more. That is my only really point I didn't like.
3.5 stars. It's a good example of its genre (harem in a dinosaur world, I guess) but not exceptional. I think the idea of one guy and 12 women (in this case) with no significant friction is just a bit too "out there" for me, but if that and some settlement building appeals to you this book might be entertaining.
