Mason Family #4

Relentless

Rate this book
“I had to sneeze.”
I should’ve taken her insurance information and driven off like any reasonable CEO with places to be would.
She crashed into my car, for heaven’s sake. Because she had to sneeze.
What did I do? I didn’t get in my car and drive away, if that’s what you’re thinking.
Nope. I stuck around. I could suggest I stayed because she needed help, but the truth? She was really, really hot.
We became fast friends. Then friends with benefits. Before I knew it, we were involved in an illicit office romance that had me fumbling through a drawerful of panties to get a Post-It.
It was supposed to be easy—a fling, if you will. A dashing millionaire hero (*adjusts tie*) and a beautiful (stubborn, frustratingly independent, hell-on-wheels) damsel in distress. (Don’t tell her I said that.)
It wasn’t supposed to be forever, but we did want a happy ending. (Pun intended.) We could’ve made it work, too.
But one of us overcomplicated things with the L-word. And the other? They omitted a truth that changed everything.

What started out with a literal BANG ends up being so much more for Oliver and Shaye when fate brings them together - or maybe I should say a sneeze!! Filled with pre-existing baggage, hurt from previous encounters and a lack of trust in the opposite sex this book had me up all night because I could not put it down. In true Adriana Locke fashion the characters are honest and true, the Mason brotherhood and sense of family can be felt and the emotional connection just leapt off the page. Each book in the series gets better and better. With characters you cannot help but fall in love with this was an awesome read.

I could read countless books about the Mason family. When this family gets together I fall in love a little bit more with each and every one of them. I didn't think it was possible to love the Mason family more than I already did, but it's never felt so good to be so wrong! I truly loved Oliver and Shaye’s fun, intense and delectable love story and could not put this book down.

From the moment Shaye and Oliver meet, I felt their chemistry and connection. It jumps off of the page and I could feel its intensity through the interactions that they have with each other. What arose from these two working together is beautiful and healing in its own right, showing each of the damaged characters what it really means to have a partner in life and to love and be loved while also learning to trust in each other. I absolutely fell in love with their story. Their story was a bittersweet love story with a mix of funny banter, romance and a little angst.

Relentless is another emotional, funny, sexy and heartfelt instalment in the Mason Family series. It is beautifully written and has everything in it from steam, humour, love and heartbreak. I can’t wait to read Wade’s story!

What are the some of the best things in the world? Mason men and Adriana Locke’s amazing stories that she tells about them!!

Oliver Mason is everything to everyone, and finally we get his story. I don’t know what I can really say about this book except it needs to be read. Yes this is the 4th book in this series and yes it could be read as a stand-alone but honestly, this series is just so good you need to read them all! You are not going to regret it!

Adriana Locke is on the top of my 1click list. Everything she writes is filled will all the good things, lots of depth, smart dialogue, so much emotion and enough heat to make you blush.

Read this series!

Basic plot with plain characters.
I was mainly bored and felt like I already read it since it didn’t have something that made it stand out from other romance books.

I need a Mason in my life! These are some of the swooniest heroes Adriana has written and I can't get enough of this family. This book follows Oliver Mason and Shaye Brewer through their meet cute that started with a bang, then their friendship, and eventually their HEA. And it was brilliant I actually loved the slower pace of their relationship since we got to see a lot of wonderful moment of them as "friends" that then led to more. And through the slower times there was still that sexual tension that really captivated me and had me staying up way too late to read more.

Overall, this book is exactly what I've come to expect from Adriana Locke and I loved it all. It can be read as a standalone with no issue but I do recommend the entire series because this family is so amazing to read about.

4.5 stars. 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 by Adriana Locke is a contemporary, lighthearted, entertaining, and easy to read office romance. 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 is the fourth book in the 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 featuring Oliver Mason, the Co-CEO to Mason Limited, a family owned multi-billion-dollar corporation. 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 is an interconnected standalone romance. You don’t need to read the prior books before reading this.

I adore Adriana Locke’s books because they are the perfect escape into the world of small-town heroes and sassy heroines with funny and heartwarming scenes. I recommend reading the three prior books, not because you need to for this one, but because they’re enjoyable each in their own right.

Oliver Mason is a workaholic and likes it that way. He feels fulfilled by working all the time and finds joy in his work. When Oliver gets rear-ended by a beautiful woman, he can’t help but feel a spark of something he hasn’t in quite some time. Sure, he dates here and there, but Oliver certainly doesn’t want a relationship nor does he feel he has the time and effort to put into one.

Our heroine, Shaye is a widow who works hard just to make ends meet. She certainly doesn’t have extra cash lying around to pay for a car accident she just caused by a sneezing fit. Something about Shaye and the encounter leaves Oliver feeling smitten.

Call it kismet when Shaye shows up to interview for Oliver’s Executive Assistant position. Shaye has baggage from her last relationship as well as family issues, which are something both she and Oliver find they have in common. Shaye is a strong and relatable heroine. Even though she has massive debt, she doesn’t compromise who she is in order to move forward.

Oliver and Shaye have a professional relationship until they realize there’s more that needs to be explored. I liked that they were both mature and discussed their thoughts outright. Oliver says it like it is and is sexy, masculine, and smart. The secondary characters, both new and old make this romance even more enjoyable as we are reconnected with our old faves.

In a world full of angsty miscommunication, it was refreshing to read a book about adults. Oliver’s direct approach. It made him appear as even more of a sexy boss. If you’re looking for a sweet, fun, contemporary boss/CEO romance, Relentless is for you.

I am so grateful to have received an ARC and am leaving my review voluntarily.

"This is everything we have to come to love in any book by Adriana Locke, pure perfection!!

Shaye Brewer has not had an easy life, betrayed by a loved one, she is now paying the price literally for his mistakes. Oliver Mason has a lot on his plate, he is the Co-CEO with his brother in the family construction business and keeping it all together with his family.

Can these two navigate the boss/employee relationship and come out on the other side with their hearts intact? Or will their pasts haunt them, and make it impossible once lines are crossed that they can’t go back?
Shaye and Oliver will steal your heart, their sexual chemistry sparks right off the bat. Strap in and hold on, you will be in for a treat!

Adriana Locke is a QUEEN of contemporary romance and this is a favourite book for 2021!

Like all the Mason boys, Oliver is SWOONY! He's the steady one, the one you go to when you need help and the perfect mix of growly sexy with a touch of Alpha. He’s convinced that he’s got life figured out and marriage, love, kids? They aren’t for him. Once bitten, never again is best.

When Shaye sneezes four times it's like she conjured the kindest, most understanding guy into her life. Well, crashed into him is more accurate. It could be that they were both insanely attracted to each other upon first sight. The car accident that brings Oliver Mason into her life feels absolutely meant to be. When her bastard of an ex-husband dies suddenly during their divorce proceedings, he leaves her with a huge debt as well. Finding herself responsible for the debt that didn't die with him, Shaye buckles down and works multiple jobs to repay it.

At the same time, her heart has gone into hiding as she's became a reluctant widow. She didn't love him anymore but there she was still married to him when he died. I totally connected with Shay as she dealt with her past trauma. Adriana showed great sensitivity and emotional insight when it came to how Shaye fights her way back to being herself again. Shaye was vulnerable but capable and she didn't give up. She wasn't looking for anyone to save her but in Oliver she found a worthy partner.

Oh and don't even get me started on the best book mom ever-Siggy Mason! She has her own trials in this one and I swear she needs her own book!

This series just keeps getting better and I was reading slower than usual because I just wanted to savour this one. It was that good.

I can't stand that Wade is the last Mason boy left. His grumpy, too smart for his own good, seemingly heartless butt is going to get taken down by a someone super fierce, I hope! This book can be read as a standalone but really each Mason boy gets their own book for a reason. Start at the beginning of this series, you will not regret it!

“And while I’m sure chemistry is necessary in the executive office,…

…I’m not sure it should feel like this.”

Relentless was a sweet instant attraction/office romance read. It is on page slow burn even though the events seem to take place over a few weeks and they want each other from the jump. I think that it’s a good read, but I do feel it was missing some on page relationship building. I really wanted to feel invested in the relationship and I sadly wasn’t as much as I wanted to be. There’s a side plot that definitely had my interest. I just needed to know what was going on with the Mason family, and I think Adriana did a good job incorporating a tough topic into an overall light read. All that said, I will be picking up the next book when it’s out because even if this one wasn’t my favorite I do love how Adriana writes a family series and makes you really want the best for every single character!

I feel like I have been waiting so long for Oliver's story! In true Locke fashion she did not disappoint.👏 👏👏 This can be read as standalone but seriously do yourself a favor and enjoy the whole series. You will thank me for it 😉

Sparks of sexual chemistry were immediate for Oliver and Shaye💥. After a sneeze (well 4) she literally runs into him. Oliver is a little off put with the fact that she wants nothing to do with exchanging numbers or accepting much help during this encounter. But a job opportunity leads to a second chance meeting. Both these characters have a lot of depth in their back stories. They have experienced a lot of hurt in the love dept. Will that put a road block up for anything romantic. 🤔 💞

If you are a Locke follower like myself you are in for a treat when we see previous characters enter the storyline and many cameos from others. She dives a little further into the Mason family. Some events happen that make you question the perfect family we have previously seen. And like all the others it will leave you so excited for the next book in the series. Wade 🥰

I'm pretty new to the worlds of Adriana Locke but even with my newness I can 100% testify that this woman writes some of the best romance journeys out there. Her style, voice and pacing are perfect for well rounded journeys that showcase not just the romance build between two people but also the friendship and trust that goes along with it.

I'll be back in a bit to tell you more but you should really be doing the thing right now :)

I love this author! She never fails to give you what you didn’t realize you needed. Ollie is smooth when he “meets” Shaye. He makes his intentions known but she dismisses his advances. Shaye is wonderful. She is independent, and confident, even though she has moments due to her history. I love the whole family and the banter between them. I’m looking forward to Wade’s story!

5 Star Review Relentless (Mason Family Series #4) by Adriana Locke

I was excited to read Relentless, the fourth book in the Mason Family series. This time it is Oliver Mason and Shaye Brewer’s story and what an entertaining story it was; I was hooked from the first to the last chapter.

I couldn’t wait to dive in to Relentless as I love Ms. Locke’s writing style. I fell hard and fast for Oliver, he is such a swoon worthy man who ticked the boxes for me. I also really liked Shaye, she is feisty, sassy and a woman I could call a friend.

Their meet cute was unusual but the accident was fate’s way of playing with them. Both Oliver and Shaye have issues from their past relationships and this stops them from trusting people. Will they let the past rule what could be a wonderful future?

As their relationship develops it is simple and yet also complicated. Their was humour, romance, some angst with characters who were easy to relate to and it was fun to catch up with some familiar faced whilst reading.

Once again, this author has hit a home run with the Mason boys, this time. It is Oliver’s turn. Both he and Shaye have baggage for days, but together they just work. Oliver has been on my radar since book one, and if you have not started the series, Restraint is the place to start. Oliver is what I want in a book boyfriend, swoon.

I adore this family and will anxiously await Resolution.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Several years after the husband she was in the process of divorcing dies & leaves her with $100K of debt, Shaye is scrambling to get her life under control. To top it off, she gets in a fender bender when an exceptionally gorgeous man, but now that’s just one more expense she can’t pay.

When a dream-come-true job opportunity as an Executive Assistant, with a salary that could fix all her problems, drops in her lap, Shaye nearly does a happy dance. That is, until her new boss walks in the door. Oliver Mason just so happens to be the CEO and the guy she ran into with her car. And it’s at that moment Shaye knows she’s in deep trouble.

Relentless by Adriana Locke is book 4 in the Mason Family series. I really liked both Shaye & Oliver as characters and as a whole, I enjoyed their romance. The premise was right up my alley. The boss/assistant trope is my catnip! The only problem for me was how quickly their feelings progressed. I wanted to see a longer timeline. I felt like their romance only spanned a couple weeks, which took away from some of my enjoyment. With that said, I enjoyed this more than the last 2 books in the series so I’m happy I read it! 3.5/5 stars.

The Mason boys are gunning for my heart again! Oliver Mason – with his workaholic, responsibility-driven lifestyle – turned out to have an underbelly as soft and squishy as they come and I gobbled that ish up. And Shaye – the wounded heroine with the heart of gold – was the perfect match for him!

It took me a little while to settle into this story. I really liked Oliver and Shaye a lot, but the romance felt a little “insta” to me and I always struggle a bit when I feel like I don’t really understand the connection. I enjoyed their love story – it was sweet, and spicy, and entertaining – but I didn’t feel it in my gut and in my heart in that way that makes me feel part of the story. That is, until the conflict arose and I found myself glued to my Kindle, heart on the line as I watched these two lovely characters sort through their issues and try to blaze a way forward together. I might have liked a little deeper dive – or maybe a smidge more angst – but in the end, I really did love them.

What I did love (what I always love) was getting the Mason boys back together. The family drama in this one stole the show for me a little bit (at least until the last quarter of the book where I really felt engaged with the romance). I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably always say it, but Adriana Locke writes the heck out of these family-centered series and I always enjoy the banter and heartfelt connections that the brothers share. It was, of course, also a treat to catch up on the past couples, and get peeks at their happily-ever-afters.

In all, this was a relatively light-hearted (especially given some of the subject matter addressed in this story), sweet story. It also introduced some secondary characters that piqued my interest and made me a little bit dying for more of their stories. Lots of good stuff here and absolutely worth the read! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

#relentless is the 4th book in the #masonfamilyseries by @authoradrianalocke

This book had me wanting more! I couldn’t stop reading! I absolutely loved Oliver and Shaye. This is definitely my favorite book in the series.

Oliver is a high powered, workaholic CEO. His job is his life. He makes time for his family, because they are the most important thing to him, but other than that all he does is work. He had been betrayed in the past, so he decided long ago that he wouldn’t open himself up to anyone again. That’s until Shaye came crashing into his life.

Shaye had a really shit couple of years. She is indebted to her past, looking for anyway to escape but it constantly follows her. Being tough, resilient, and determined to get things done on her own, she finds the perfect job. She doesn’t want handouts from anyone, no one is going to control her life again. Until, after giving into temptation she finds herself in the predicament of someone else controlling her heart.

If you haven’t read any of these books yet, you totally need to start. They are fun, steamy and have great stories. The families are even better! Can’t wait to see what happens next with this crew.

I loved everything about Oliver and Shaye's book. From the funny meet-cute to the conversations about zip-ties! This book gives you a look into the Mason Family struggles with the Parents fighting their own demons, to learning just how unique Wade really is. But what I loved most about this book is how Shaye always stuck up for herself, she took control of her life where she could after her ex husband took it away. And how Oliver learned to understand, that he didn't need to take care of all her problems, but to let her take care of them and be there for when she needs him. A beautiful love story to last the ages!

I’m a tad late to the game and started the Mason Family series with Relentless, book 4. I couldn’t get enough of Oliver and Shaye. This book is laugh out loud funny with the perfect balance of angst, and drama. 100% a page turner!

Shaye’s life is a complete mess and it’s not all her doing. When a sneeze causes her to get into a fender bender, thankfully the car she hit wasn’t driven by a complete jerk, little does she know that her life is about to change. She’s quirky, strong and such a fun lead character.

Again, I am new to the Mason brothers but bless their mother’s heart for raising for four strong men. I can’t help but see a bit of Ms. Locke in Shaye and her boys in the Mason men 😊. I really enjoyed Oliver and his brothers. I will 100% be going back to read the first three books.

If you are looking for a boss/employee read this weekend, this is the book for you!

Read it!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own.

Ollie I am so glad to have finally read your story! You are an absolute gem of a man with a heart of gold, you do wear it in your sleeve though.

Shaye you are a beautiful soul determined to stand on your own two feet, nothing wrong with that.

Both Ollie and Shaye have had their share of heartbreak and disappointment in their past. Luckily for the both of them that they bang in to each other, and this changes the course of their lives for the better. This pair adore each other so much, they just need to work through their issues.

Loved this storyline as always, Addy you never disappoint when writing about all the hot brothers. I also love that these boys are always dripping in respect and love their mothers and any other female.

Now bring on the next book haha no pressure!!

These Mason boys are something else. Every single one of them have stolen my heart. Oliver and Shaye met because Shaye sneezed three times. BEST. MEET. CUTE. EVER! It felt like the universe couldn't help but put Shaye in Oliver's path. I loved both of these characters as individuals, but they were even more magical together. I love how strong Shaye is and how she doesn't back down from Oliver and I love how fast Oliver fell for Shaye. I love that he wants to take care of her. They both have some serious trust issues with good reason but once they worked through them, it was truly beautiful.

I am so happy that we get a taste of the Mason brothers in every book as they are so fun and their banter is comical. The way they dote on their mom is so special. I can't wait to read Wade's book. I have a feeling he is going to end up being my favorite!

Oliver Mason and Shaye Brewer meet by accident, and boy is it a fender bender. No, really, an actual fender bender. Oliver is immediately enchanted by the sneezing beauty who rambles when she’s nervous and manages to crash her car while sneezing four times. Seriously, have you tried keeping your eyes open when you sneeze? Oliver tries to get her contact info but Shaye won’t give him the time if day. That is, until he becomes her new boss.

I adore these Mason brothers and eagerly wait to get my hands on each new story, so I couldn’t wait to read this one. It absolutely did not disappoint, because Oliver and Shaye are magnificent together. Their banter is cute, and Oliver has that alpha/protector thing going on, which would make any girl swoon. Right? Shaye's life is kind of a mess, but she determined to fix things herself. So when Oliver wants to step in and help, well, douse the swooning and cue the fireworks.

This talented storyteller has a way of giving us down-to-earth, flawed characters that we feel like we've known all our lives. She then weaves a storyline sprinkled with humor and heart that effortlessly draws the reader in. And before you know it, bam, your heart now belongs to this new hero and his lady. Witty and self-deprecating but rich with emotion and all those feel-good feels, you'll love Oliver and Shaye's journey to forever and won’t regret a second of time you spend in their company.

You know the saying, "It's not you, it's me"? Being someone that worked in human resources, that's how I feel about certain parts of this story.

Relentless is an instant-attraction, workplace romance between two characters that both have baggage they are carrying.

When the story took place outside of the office, I was hooked. I loved the chemistry between Oliver and Shaye. My heart broke for Siggy! And Boone - man I love him!

It was how Oliver took advantage of his position that irked me. Shaye offered a reasonable solution several times that had me shaking my head yes, but Oliver was stubborn and wouldn't accept it.

Again, I don't think this will be the consensus for the majority of the readers, I just happened to have actually experienced a very similar work world.

This rating will have no weight on her next book. She's one of my one-click authors and will remain that way.

Ahhhh, So we have another winner with Relentless and my friends I can't wait for Wade's book!, but I know I am getting greedy since I just finished Oliver's but really can you blame me these guys are just hottttt!. Anywho, we have Oliver who was in a small fender bender with Shaye who I like, but poor girl has not had it easy, had a horrible marriage, her mom (if you can call her that) just stops speaking to her because she takes her ex's side in the divorce and blames Shaye and then poor Shaye is left with her husbands debt. Shaye has no life, all she does is work, luckily she does have a good friend in Lisbeth and Nate (I love him) I also hope he gets a book. Back to Oliver and Shaye, after small fender bender, since no real harm was done they decide to just let it go, but low and behold he ends up being her boss and then the smexy times come in, but he has some baggage from a previous relationship and almost messes things up, luckily for him he has some good brothers to smack him upside the head...it was a fun book and as I said earlier I can't wait for Wade's book..If you guys are Adrianna's fans and have read previous books, you will pick up on the tid bit of the friend (wherever it leads book) Enjoy!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Relentless is a boss/employee romance. It's the fourth book from the Mason Family series.

Shaye Brewer's life was a mess. She was paying for a huge debt that wasn't hers and only had a part-time job as a waitress at The Gold Room, a bar owned by one of her friends. Then one day because of a sneeze she hit someone's car. That man was Oliver Mason. It was a huge
scare for her but thankfully he was very kind and let her go. The next day she went for an interview for the executive assistant position and to her surprise, it was for Oliver's company. She was reluctant at first but she accepted the job since she needed the money. Soon the attraction they both felt urged them to share some hot kisses. One thing led to another and they ended up being in a relationship. Could two people who had been seriously burnt in the past move forward and make a new beginning?

It's a nice romantic story filled with fun moments and a couple of dramatic ones. It began with a very quirky and entertaining scene where Shaye was so awkward and hilarious. As the story progressed it kept the fun aspect and the romance was slowly added. The drama
was towards the end where it intensified the love confession. I loved how easy it was to read and very engaging. Both characters were incredible. My favorite scene was between her and the Mason brothers at the office.

It's a very enjoyable book that I highly recommend you to read. I will rate it with 4 stars.

With every book that Adriana Locke writes in the Mason Family series, I fall more in love with them! I've fallen completely head-over-heels in love with every one of the Mason brothers, but Oliver??? He is DEFINITELY my favourite! He's just the perfect combination of intensity, humour, swoony Alpha-ness and is just broken enough that I REALLY want to fix him....badly!!! As for Shaye, she has her own issues to deal with from a *insert curse word* ex and a mother who doesn't deserve that moniker even a little bit! From the hilarious meet-cute between Oliver and Shaye right to the satisfying epilogue, I was completely engrossed and entertained with Ms. Locke's latest MUST READ!!!

The sizzling chemistry between Oliver and Shaye is immediate and INTENSE, the learning to trust one another, in spite of their past experiences, the banter and obvious love between the Mason brothers and the journey through their love story kept me glued to my kindle until I finished! I have to say that this series is turning out to be my FAVE one from this author....and that's saying something (because HELLO! The Gibson's and the Landry's??!!)

The only thing I DIDN'T like about this book? It ended! I can't WAIT for the next book in this series, in the meantime, I think I'll just have to re-read this one! That won't be a hardship, but if you could write a little faster, Adriana? That would be great!!!
