Full disclosure: I wouldn’t have picked this out if it was the last book on the planet that I hadn’t read yet. Yes, I pride myself on being willing to read anything, but this title and this author in no way are appealing to me. Religiously feverish individuals who write books are pretty much not on my radar. Now that I’ve let you all know that, I can also let you know that I sincerely disliked this book. I finished it, so it’s a rung above those that I didn’t finish, but I found few redeeming qualities. While the book does indeed have the necessary components required to be considered a story, it’s not a good one. I’m still not even sure what it’s about…but I am aware that Yahweh was the creator of all things. Robinson repeated that so often I’m pretty sure THAT was the entire point of the book. When I read a book I want to connect with the characters and actually care about their story. That didn’t happen with this book. I felt no connection to the characters, many of whom were simply terrible, and I really didn’t care if Annaleigh died or not. Heck I’m not even sure if she did, that’s how little an impression it left. I read it with an open mind, but when I finished, I wanted to get blind drunk and forget I ever knew anything about this book.

Ok, here it is in a nutshell.
Crazy fantasy land where there are different groups of people. They are ranked by tree line. There are evil rulers and every so often they are willing to accept a mortal into their lair by sacrificing a family member to the strange forest where a tree that rules everything kills her.
The story centers around a mother and daughter. The mother gives up her daughter so that she will live forever. The daughter gets banished to the this strange forest but somehow survives.
Theres are violet spiders, lots of violet spiders, it is like a medieval setting but throws in some modern times.

The writing is beautiful but I just could not understand where the author was going. I may have misunderstood, I thought this was Bible based?

Couldn't get past the prologue. No names I ever learned in church. Don't waste your time or money.

Thanks to Goodreads for the Kindle Version of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
