She’s lost her memory. Why does she trust the handsome man who calls her his?
Susannah has recently lost her mother and is left in the care of her cruel stepfather. To avoid marriage to her mean and manipulative stepbrother, Susannah flees to her cousin’s ranch, Journey’s End. It’s a dangerous journey for a young woman alone, but she has no choice.
She sustains head injuries during a stagecoach accident and is robbed of her memory. She doesn’t remember much of her life, but thankfully when she meets her cousins Melody and Harmony, she feels safe. When Rowdy Henderson arrives at Journey’s End, she knows he’s important in her life and she can trust him, but doesn’t remember they were to be married.
She is a stranger in her own life, and now that they’ve received word that her stepfather and stepbrother are actively searching for her, Rowdy is determined to keep her safe, whether she likes it or not.
This is book four in the Journey’s End series but can be enjoyed independently.
Publisher’s Note: This historical western romance is intended for adults only and contains elements of action, adventure, danger, mystery, suspense, sensual scenes, and power exchange. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.
It was wonderful to have another story that encompasses Journey’s End and the wonderful people that live there. But this story begins with trouble—Susannah’s stepfather, Milt Tipton, has locked her in her room, and until she agrees to marry his son, Burt, he is basically starving her to get her to capitulate. It will be with the help of her late father’s ranch hand, Bernie, that she helps her escape board a stagecoach and travel to the family she didn’t know she had—cousins Melody and Harmony Williams.
The story has Susannah taking a stagecoach on her journey, but there will be a delay for repairs in the last town before she reaches her kinfolks. The trip, near its end, will result in the stagecoach breaking, and she is tossed and tumbled, hitting her head. When she wakes up, she has no memory, not even her name. It is only by paperwork and her looks that the doctor knows she is Susannah Williams and her cousins are Harmony and Melody. She must rely on strangers and their hospitality.
Minor little flashes of things will come and go, and it is hard for Susannah to remember her past. When Rowdy Henderson shows up at Journey’s End, she knows him as safe. Rowdy had gone north to sell his horses, and when he returned, they were to marry, but that was before her evil stepfather learned that he didn’t own the ranch; she did. Now, Rowdy wants to give her a chance to try and gain her memory before marrying her—but trouble is on the way.
“She might not remember much, but he felt like her north star, her truth, and her home.”
The story has the good, the bad, and the evil of people. Susannah doesn’t like Burt; he is cruel and a troublemaker. She and Rowdy have been planning their marriage for years, waiting until she was old enough. Now, she can’t remember, he hasn’t given up on her, and he must protect her not only from her stepfather but from herself and doing foolish things. These two will face trials, life, and death, and together, they will journey as they planned. Rowdy spanked her before the accident, and he shows her he is still the man who will hold her accountable and spank her when she deserves it.
“She was scared. She was lost. She was a stranger in her own life. I don’t know who I am, Rowdy. Not really. What am I like?”
I loved the mystery, suspense, danger, angst, and passion of the characters. While Susannah’s memory may never come back, she knows that Rowdy is her future. Now, they must decide what is best for them and their future. The only family she has is two cousins, Melody and Harmony, and being with them felt right. The story does have several spankings involving several couples. It keeps intimacy within marriage.
His girl is in trouble and he plans to take care of her. I enjoyed this book it was a bit different with a super interesting twist. The characters were splendid. Rowdy the strong, gentle, yet take no cuff hero and Susannah the heroine just wants her life back to normal. She is facing some serious challenges and threats. I really felt sorry for Benie when he and Susannah saw each other again but what she decided to do for him was first-class. It was a good western that I hope you check out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is the 4th book in this series but it can be read as a standalone. Susannah recently lost her mother and now her stepfather wants to marry her off to her step brother. She runs away to Journey’s End where her cousins are but on the way is injured and loses her memory. She feels safe with her cousins even though she doesn’t remember much and when Rowdy show up, she fees safe as well. Can she trust him to keep her safe from her stepfather? Fast-paced read with loads of drama and steam. Entertaining with plenty of twists and turns. I liked it.
This is Susannah’s story Book Four of the Journey’s End Series. Starts out in Susannah’s room where her disgusting stepfather Milt Tipton has her locked up in her room and he only allows her one piece of toast and a pitcher of water a day until she agree’s to marry his son Burt. Susannah gets the help of her late father’s ranch hand Bernie that promised his dying friend he would watch over his family. Bernie sneaks Susannah out of the house and gets her on a stagecoach headed to cousins and their families she didn’t know she had. As Susannah is on the stagecoach heading towards what she believes to be safety there is a horrific accident and the stagecoach breaks apart and she is tossed about the Coach severely hitting her head. When she wakes up she has no memory at all, doesn’t know who she is, where she came from, why she was on the stagecoach. Fortunately, there was paperwork in her bag the doctor found that said her name and that Harmony and Melody of Journeys End were her cousins. Now she finds herself on their homestead even though they are related she has to rely on strangers for her care and wellbeing. As days progress little bits and pieces come back to her but her full memory seems very muddy. At dinner one night all sitting around the table and several heavy handed knocks pound on the door, standing there is the man (Rowdy) she loves, they had planned getting married soon but, she doesn’t really know him she just knows she feels very safe with him and that he is special. Throughout the road to clear things up and Rowdy to keep her safe and away from Tipton and his son until her memory comes back and they can be married. They experience all kinds of danger, fear, anxiety, criminal activity, sadness, laughter, passion, discipline most of all love and patience. This is a very sweet story, very enjoyable characters. I love stories of this era. I’m looking forward to another in the series I really hope the author is planning on another. It is a must read. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
A totally captivating read from start to finish Susannah had thought that her life had been ideal until the day her father had been killed in a horse accident, her mother had married another who already had a son and life had changed beyond any recognition. Fortunately, Rowdy who had been her best friend since she had been a young girl had helped look after her, as they got older, they had fallen in love and she had agreed to marry him. Unfortunately, her mother had died in childbirth along with the baby and Rowdy had left her to sell the horses so that they had enough money to start their new lives together when her stepfather and his awful son took over her home. However. when they went to the solicitor he discovered Susannah’s father had left the Ranch to his daughter and her husband when her mother died. After being locked in her room and starved for nearly a week her fathers best friend helped her escape and sent her too her cousins until Rowdy returned and could help her but on the way she had been in an accident and lost her memory. Rowdy was trying to find the required proof that confirmed her legal age so that he could stop her Stepfather from stealing her home and forcing her into an unwanted wedding. The things these two encounters on their journey is totally unimaginable but it certainly keeps you guessing from start to finish. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
I have read and enjoyed the previous books in this series, but you definitely don’t need to have done so in order to enjoy “Susannah” by Victoria Phelps. If you’re familiar with the previous stories, it’s fun to see the main characters in those books appear here as secondary characters.
Susannah manages to escape from her horrible stepfather, who is determined to make her marry his reprehensible son. While on her way to hide out with cousins where they live at Journey’s End, she is in a bad accident that steals away her memory. When her longtime best friend and boyfriend Rowdy Henderson arrives at Journey’s End looking for his intended, the result is unexpected. I really don’t want to say much about the plot because a lot goes on and you really should experience it for yourself.
This is a surprisingly suspenseful story because as the reader you’re wondering what will happen with Susannah’s memory, her father, her step-brother, her relationship with Rowdy, and her future. There is some danger, angst, romance, passion, domestic discipline, laughter and tears, and a few criminals as well. It was all nicely written, and I would definitely read any other books that might come out of the series.

Donna L 4.0 out of 5 stars SWEET JOURNEY Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2021 I was overjoyed with this addition to this series by Victoria Phelps. This book was filled with danger, intrigue, mystery, angst, romance, and spankings. I enjoyed the inclusion of the secondary characters from the previous books. It felt like coming home to family.
Susanna’s life was in turmoil after fleeing from her evil stepfather who had plans to marry her to his son, Burt. With the help from a friend, Susannah escaped. Unfortunately the coach she was on while on her way to family at Journey’s End met with an accident. An accident that robbed her of her memory. Susannah recovery was slow but being with her new found cousins Harmony and Melody was a gift.
Rowdy Henderson arrived at Journeys End looking for his intended bride, Susannah. She felt safe and in her heart, knew that they belonged together. It took time for Susannah to heal. She was very impulsive at times, and as he had in the past, Rowdy dealt with her over his knees.
This was a sweet romance with likable, endearing characters. I enjoyed the emotions built into each of the characters. This book was a joy to read and hope there will be more to come in th
I really liked this book but there seems to be some confusion about her birth year: is it 1881 or 1891? Since her birth year is crucial to the outcome of an evil plot against her I could not give it five stars. Her father several years earlier and unknown to her or her stepfather had left the ranch to her. The stepfather tries to force Susannah to marry his son whom she despises. A friendly ranch hand helps her to escape to her cousins but on the way she is in a stagecoach accident that robs of her memory. She doesn’t even recognize her boyfriend. The characters are very well done and there is enough action to keep the reader interested. If you like historical western romances you will be interested in this one.

They travel to her birthplace to find proof of her age.
I have always enjoyed Victoria Phelps’s stories. I really enjoyed this one and my only complaint is that it ended too soon. Each of her couples are unique in their journey to Journey’s End and Susannah and Rowdy’s story is also unique. I really enjoyed their dynamic and I always love seeing characters from previous stories. This is a well written story of love that even when someone tries to damage it, love still thrives.

Poor Susannah - life is so hard for women in the Old West. Forced to escape her stepfather, she makes her way to Journey's End where she has family. Unfortunately, an accident happens and Susannah is left with memory loss. Thankfully her cousins are found and she attempts to find a way to live without her memories until one day, her true love appears at the door. Well written, loved the characters and the story line. A fabulous book!

This story is one of those good, historical ones. The storyline is fine and the characters are just so on top and accurate for this story. Very fitting. The story is as said a historical Western - or Cowboy - which ever fits your description best. The idea of memory loss is both a fun and sad way and is written about in a very good way. This story for sure deserves fabulous four fine stars.

I have been reading this series right along. I love the stories. It is nice to visit with friends from previous books. Susannah is fleeing from her stepfather. When she is in a stagecoach accident, she loses her memory. But when Rowdy, the man she is to marry, shows up, she knows that she feels safe with him. Of course, there is a HEA and I hope that this is not the end of the series.

A fast paced story with suspense and mystery. Her loss of memory added another dimension of suspense that heightened the enjoyment I had from reading this book. I liked the characters who were well crafted. I enjoyed their relationship which was believable even with the memory loss. I enjoyed reading this book.

The fourth book in the Journey's End series a story that kept me turning pages. Susannah Louise Williams and Aloysius Montgomery Henderson's story of lost memory, villains, lies, villains, and romance, these two belonged together. A story that was well worth reading.
