Lauren is wary of men, especially ones with ‘pretty faces.’ Eight years ago her life came crashing down around her when she discovered the man she had been in a relationship with was married to someone else. He was also a very well known celebrity with power and money behind him so making a fuss was not likely to end well for her.

Lauren didn’t not have a picture perfect childhood, she has never met her father, her mother was the complete opposite of what a mother should be and she has a nasty vindictive sister. Thank goodness she has some incredible girlfriends in her life that have been there when she’s needed love and support.

Her plans of finishing law school came to an abrupt end when her relationship ended and ever since then she has worked in the local gift shop. This is where she meets Jack for the first time, Mr Pretty. He is making a last minute Christmas purchase and in desperate need of her help. Lauren has managed to get by for a long time now not noticing any handsome men but when she meets Jack there is definitely something there that piques her interest.

Jack has spent his life playing professional sport and building a life with someone, having a family and settling down has been on the back burner for a while. Now that he has retired from playing he is beginning to think about that more and his mother likes to interfere by playing matchmaker on his behalf.

Since the first time Jack met Lauren, he hasn’t been able to get her out of his thoughts. He usually doesn’t have to work hard to get a woman’s interest but he senses that there is something different about Lauren, he knows he has to tread slowly and carefully to gain her trust. After a disaster on the interior of his office building, Jack offers Lauren the opportunity do a project for him, where she stands to make a good amount of money. She however is not even going to entertain the idea of being in close proximity to Mr Pretty.

Lauren has been very skeptical about Jack’s interest in her since she first met him but after yet another bad run in with her nasty sister she finds herself agreeing to working for him. The more time she spends with Jack, the more she realises all of her preconceived notions about him were false, he really is a nice guy – underneath all that pretty. However, she also likes the ‘pretty’ too.

Jack proves himself to be trustworthy, not just as a person but Lauren also begins to trust him with her heart. She is not used to being with a guy who genuinely cares about her and is willing to fight for her – it is going to take a lot of getting used to. Jack feels like he has found the perfect woman to spend the rest of his life with, however, there is still a few hills to climb to get there. I think he is up for the challenge though.

This is a debut story from this new author and a fantastic start to a writing career.

She kept telling herself she wasn't interested....
by and1515

It was the last day of the year and she was tired it'd been quite a day; and her beloved bathtub was calling her name.
But first she had to deal with a last minute interruption to her plans; the faster she helped him the quicker she could be relax.
Only no her two best friends had other ideas as to how to help her ring in the the New Year.
Her friends tried to prove a credical point to her by using their considerable charms to show not all men noticed them.
Jack, had it all the charm, wit and the smoldering good looks that made many women lose their little minds over.
Which meant he was the very bred of male species she ran in the opposite direction from.
Jack wasn't a shy man and he was totally fascinated by Lauren; unfortunately she kicked him to the curb before he ever even got a fair chance.
To bad Jack ignored that little voice that kept trying to worn him
because here he was now having to deal with another messy situation.
Of course she turned him down, even when he tried to explain his dire problem she still wouldn't listen; however he could be just as stubborn as her.
The last thing she needed or wanted was to deal with her older sibling who thought she was their personal a.t.m machine.
She was stuck paddling up a creek without a darn paddle so now she had no choice; which meant having to deal with that man.
Okay so he got a little to carried away after all she was a beautiful woman who's lips keep screaming just kiss me.
So now she was punishing him like some naughty brat and yeah Jack knew some would call him on his behavior but seriously he wanted to see her.
He needed to change her ridge narrow minded views of what kind of person she thought he was and instead he wanted to show her the whole panoramic.
Jack was trying to understand her stand-offish attitude towards him so he'd been totally surprised when one thing lead to something that was so much more.
Until his own history rears its ugly head once again so with little choice left he started to explain the what's and why's.
Now the ball was totally in her court keep living the way she was; using her own past to justify pushing him away.
Or she could finally open herself up to the possibility of more?

Lauren is a strong, beautiful, smart woman that has her own business of beautiful items for anyone from tea pots to candle stick holders to mirrors to frames. Her childhood sucked, as her dad left shortly after she was born as he didn’t want any more kids other than Lauren’s sister Belinda. She was never showed love by her mom as she blamed Lauren for her dad leaving and her two year old sister treated her awful, bullying her and always putting her down until she left when she was a teenager. Belinda has been blackmailing her for money ever since she found out a terrible tragedy happened to Lauren when she was a teenager. Her friends Ava and Jade are the best kind of friends to have. They rally around when she is having a bad, or needs to talks and they laugh at her and with her. Lauren has sworn off “Mr. Pretty’s”, men that are rich, self centred, cocky, womanizers, only worry about them selfs and are hot 🔥 🔥!! She has succeeded with this plan for quite a few years, not one “Mr. Pretty” catching her attention, until one New Years Eve she is closing up her shop, counting the minutes to being able to enjoy a hot soak in her tub when there comes banging on the front door. She shakes her head and points to the sign and he keeps saying please!!! She decides to open up for him. As soon as she lays eyes on him her body reacts you can feel the sparks flying between right away. She decides she needs to keep as much space between them while he’s in her shop. She soon finds out he is the son of one of her regular clients, and is a famous footy (football) player, and he is looking for a “gift out of trouble for missing Christmas” present for his mom. Every time Jack and Lauren meet you can feel the chemistry and sparks. But can Jack convince Lauren he isn’t like the “Mr. Pretty’s “ she has been avoiding? that he is so much more. Can Lauren let her guard down and give Jack a chance to prove it and make something that might even last?
I fell in love with the characters and Jack and Lauren’s story. Could definitely relate to it and the events that happen so happen in real life! Highly recommend this book!! Leaving this honest review as I received an advanced copy.
Happy reading!!!

I liked this story very much, for many reasons. First, the characters were well written and believable. What they go through is also understandable. The setting in Australia is also fun since I learned about a new sport--Australian football. Our hero is a former football star, Jack, who is famous for charming women. Lauren is making her own way in the world with several good friends, but a terrible backstory.

He is an unusually kind and decent man, which is good in that Lauren needs so much. She terms him "Mr. Pretty" and vows to stay away from him, but they can't seem to manage this level of control. Her friends push her to take a chance. There are plenty of evil complications, but she ends up telling him all her secrets, and he accepts her as she is. She comes to believe he is not destined to remain a playboy forever. The angst is very well described. This world is easy to fall into and believe, as is their happy ending.

This was not only a superbly crafted romance about a woman who has seen more than her share of heartbreak and a 'Mr. Pretty' who has no desire to settle down, but also a lovely story of friendship and women supporting women. The author takes us on a roller coaster of emotions with a well fleshed-out cast of characters, making us feel everything from joy to anger to despair right alongside them, while also titillating us with the sizzling chemistry between Lauren and Jack. The love scenes are vivid and sensually detailed, erotic but not hardcore, and the book is sprinkled throughout with enough humor, both subtle and outright, to ensure more than a few laughs along the way.
'The Trouble' is a definite must-read for any romance fan.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and look forward to reading more of Ms Stanizzo's work.

This is a sweet, slow burn romance between two people who do not do relationships.

Lauren has major trust issues and a deep-seated lack of belief in love stemming from her upbringing and a previous experience with a “Mr. Pretty” – hot, rich & famous.
Jack, as a football hero, is used to not having to work for female company and possesses no desire for anything long term.

Their romance evolves against a background story with great action, a good few laughs and castmates comprising great characters including strong female friendships that provide support and family to Lauren.

Sonia Stanizzo has crafted a book that is well written and easy to read. All plot points were well fleshed out and while she created some intrigue, all necessary history came to light and no questions were left unanswered.

Lauren's backstory offered an insight of a harsh reality faced by many women and I really connected with her character over that. I appreciated with sadness and felt deeply the descriptive accuracy of the reasons behind her "Trouble with Mr. Pretty"

My heart grew ever fonder of Jack as we discover he truly is more than just a pretty face. I found the depth to this character exceptional and I really enjoyed getting to know him alongside Lauren and watching him help her overcome her past.

I feel like I need an Ava and Jade in my life, the sisterhood they share with Lauren warmed my heart and I'm pleased to discover they have stories of their own, I look forward to reading those and much more from Sonia.

Lauren and Jack are a great couple. It takes a while for her to open up and trust him due to her tragic past and heartbreak, and someone else that gets in the way. Also because he's beautiful and a famous Australian athlete that attracts many women wherever he goes. She has a strict policy about dating men who are a "Mr. Pretty", like him, but she soon falls for him, despite her best intentions. But Jack, is more than a "Mr. Pretty" of good-looking, rich, and famous. He is also very caring, loyal, protective, and has a heart of gold. They are a great match and it's so sweet when they get the ending I was hoping for.

An amazing romance read.

The main characters are so well described and brought to life, each with their respective issues.

Their romance goes on a fabulous journey, building gradually and leaving you wanting more.

The book had me laughing out loud, covering my eyes and bringing tears to my eyes.

There is also a great twist in the book.

All in all, a book I would highly recommend and would definitely re read. It’s a fabulous story from beginning to end.

In definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.

Jack meets Lauren and finds her very attractive. She won’t give him the time of day since she’s been in a relationship with a man similar to him and doesn’t want to go through that again. As she spends time with him she sees a different side to him. Will she give him a chance and risk her heart?

I asked for a copy and reviewed voluntarily.

I liked this story very much because the outline, backstory of the characters and their behaviour totally matched. Jack and Lauren have baggage; she has a wall high like the Chinese one when it comes to good looking men. Because good looking means player.
The chemistry between them is undeniable and they fall hard.

Beautiful love story.

A novel that must be read.
Lauren is careful when it comes to men and Jack doesn't get a chance with her. But he is charmed by her and wants to prove to her that not all men are the same. He will have to fight for her.

Romantic and hilarious story. In a word delicious! Highly recommended

Lauren had a bad experience with a good looking guy in her past and ever since she's only dated guys who were not... But when she meets Jack everything changes, despite her best intensions. Luckily she's got a great set of girlfriends who won't let her go astray and Jack's a much better guy than the reputation he portrays. This was a fun, quick read. The Trouble with Mr. Pretty was my debut into writing four years ago. It was exciting, scary and wonderful all at the same time.

I’ve refreshed the cover and given it a new blurb and while revisiting Jack and Lauren’s story, I’ve fallen in love with them all over again.

They have baggage and heartache and struggles to push through which makes for an emotional journey in their relationship.

Oh, and there’s fun, and sexiness and all the good stuff that goes along with a romance. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Original review can be found at: http://www.nerdprobs.com/books/book-r...

Last year I was asked to read a book for this author. I read it and absolutely loved it. After reading it I went on Goodreads and saw that she had another book… The trouble with Mr. Pretty. I immediately put it on my to be read list and moved on. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I just finished reading another book by her. After finishing it I promptly went on Amazon and bought the Mr. Pretty book. I couldn’t wait to read it and when I found an open spot between books I started it.

First of all, it took me about half the book to realize the two best friends in this book are the ones the other two books are about. Felt like a complete idiot when I finally figured that out. Don’t know why I didn’t catch it sooner. Lauren runs a little shop called Everything Nice. Filled with a little bit of everything. From candlesticks to sexy lingerie. One day after she closes she hears a knock on the door. It’s a Mr. Pretty. Which is strange that she noticed because she never notices them. It turns out to be Jack the son of one of her best clients. The book from this point on was one giggle after another. The way the author wrote their romance and interaction felt believable. Sometimes the author writes the romance in such a way that it is way out of the realm of possibility.

My heart clenched when I read about Lauren giving birth to a still-born baby. Being a mother of 3 with my youngest just getting ready to turn 4 I know first hand the love that you have for children and the worry that they will be ok during birth. This storyline that appeared several times in the character’s story had me blinking back tears each time and hugging my children a little closer after. After realizing that each of the books she has written is about a different friend in the group, I may have to go back through and reread them so I can find out new little tidbits from each of the girls. I can’t wait to see what else the author will write. I will be waiting!!

I loved the intricacy of this storyline. There was so much going on with Jack’s crazy ex-fling, the drama with Lauren’s sister, and Jack and Lauren’s burgeoning romance. It really kept the book exciting, and I was on the edge of my seat to see what happened next. And I thought Jack was wonderful. He was so gentle with Lauren and persistent in his pursuit of her. It was incredibly romantic, and their chemistry was scorching. I also liked Lauren’s backstory—it made her a very relatable, real character and added some necessary emotional depth.

The emotional depth was stunted though by the third person POV in this book. Done well, third person POV can still provide the insight and connection of a first person POV. However, this third person POV was a bit sterile, and I felt removed from the characters and less invested in the outcome because of it. Additionally, the beginning of the book was quite slow. I was somewhat bored until about 30% and nearly gave up on the story.

But overall, once you make it past the intro, this is an exciting, romantic novel with great chemistry and plot. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stubborn, hurting heroine and a hero determined to have her.

*I received an ARC of this novel. This is my complete and honest review.*

Proving Himself . . .

Lauren has not had an easy time of things. But her hard and fast rule, after a bad experience, is that there will be no more “Mr. Prettys” in her life, those handsome, arrogant, rich, ego-maniac womanizers who expect women to fall all over them.

So on New Years Eve when she is ready to close her shop and sink into a luxurious hot bath, she hears pounding on the door. Pointing to the closed sign, a man keeps begging so she lets him in. She immediately feels herself respond to him and keeps him as far away as she can. Apparently he is a football player looking for a missing-Christmas gift for his mom.

Additional brushes with each other provide the same sizzling chemistry. But how Jack make Lauren see he isn’t one of those “Mr. Prettys“ but has deep feelings for her? Will she give him a chance?

This is a fun story line and likable characters. Will Jack and Lauren allow a HEA to come their way?

THE TROUBLE WITH MR PRETTY was not exactly what I was expecting, and I really enjoyed it.

First off, Jack was a pleasant surprise. He was wealthy, gorgeous, and a former professional athlete. In Lauren’s mind that made him a Mr. Pretty - a man that thought everyone should fall at his feet to please him. She had been badly burned by such a man in the past and continued to be haunted by the fall out from that relationship.

Jack also loved and doted on his mother and surprised Lauren with his indifference to woman fawning over him and with his unselfish projects. He had not wanted to be serious about a woman, so he even surprised himself with the single minded focus he had on Lauren.

The story is about trust, but also has some intrigue, blackmail and suspense that throws the couple together. Once you learn why Lauren is so troubled, you will agree with me that the ending is perfect.

This was heartfelt, the characters both had a lot of experiences and depth and I enjoyed that there weren’t a lot of secrets kept between them. I understood Lauren’s attraction to Jack growing beyond physical but it didn’t seem like Jack’s feelings beyond physical were explored much beyond all of Lauren’s past hardships. I thought that could have been strengthened. I felt that the conflict was drawn out for too long but other than that it was a fun read. I also wish Jack’s mom had been involved in the story more since she was a part of the initial plot.

I appreciated reading it and thought it resolved well.

This is the first in a new series and is Jack and Lauren’s story, Jack is a charming, sexy, famous, and wealthy football player, while Lauren is smart, strong, and has her own business. Lauren has been burnt in the past from a relationship with a celebrity, and steers clear on them now, but Jack is fascinated with her, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. This is a well written story which has family, friendships, witty banter, humor, and love, which leads to an entertaining and compelling page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

A well written contemporary romance with a smooth flowing story line. Our main characters are Jack and Lauren. Jack is what Lauren and her friends have dubbed a Mr Pretty, someone handsome. famous and wealthy and Lauren wants nothing to do with any Mr Pretty's die to a heartbreaking past. But somehow Jack won't just vanish from her thoughts or her life and the instant attraction they both feel becomes something neither can ignore.
