This book was okay. They weren't really ghost stories and instead were misc brief descriptions of he said/she said. Still, makes for some good mindless reading by the beach or by the pool at the Jersey Shore.

I love ghost stores, and being these stories took place in Cape May, one of my favorite places to visit, is a bonus. The stories were interesting, but one must realize that some places in the stories like inns, bed & breakfasts, and stores are under new ownership as this book was published in 1988. But the beach stories stand the test of time. I really want to visit Higbee Beach and I want to see that WWII bunker. I’m assuming the ghost books published later by these authors are also very good. I would hope in later books the pictures that have to do with each story are shown within each story itself. Even though many pictures can be found on the internet of the various places as one reads along.

This book should be called "haunting descriptions" instead of ghost stories. The authors interviewed local people who claimed to have seen a ghost or who experienced unexplained encounters, briefly described the place in Cape May where they say it happened, and then ended each chapter with a reference to the mystery of it all, or the secrets held in the walls. These are hardly stories in the traditional sense, but this book would make a neat little guide for a walking tour around Cape May. I'd have at least liked a little more historical investigation of the properties to round out the descriptions of blowing papers and slamming doors. I don't know why it took me a year to get through this. You could literally read it in an hour if you sat down to do so.

Pretty dumb, but sort of made me want to visit Cape May. Also, I have no idea where this book came from, just found it in my house.

Not that great. These people saw a ghost here. Those people saw a ghost there. The whole book could have been written in 5 sentences. No build up or excitement. The only thing interesting to me is that I live close enough to visit these places.

I was hoping the stories in this book would be more creepy.
