Dating is complicated. Dating while also hiding the fact that you can change into an octopus might as well be impossible.

Matteo is a self-proclaimed disaster when it comes to crushes. Especially when that crush, Simon, is gorgeous, kind, and smells like everything good in the world.

Thankfully for Matteo, Simon enjoys taking the lead and helping Matteo out of his bubble. The bad news? Neither of them know much about Matteo’s shifter side and things quickly grow complicated when Matteo’s octopus instincts unknowingly choose Simon as his mate.

Simon and Matteo will have to work through pheromones, extra appendages, and mating instincts. Can a human and a shifter find common ground and choose each other? Or will complications come between them?

A Sucker for You is set in the Collection of Strays world and features tentacles, eggpreg, and of course, a happily ever after.

A Sucker for You is a short but delightful shifter story of the tentacle kind.

We have Matteo, a shy octopus shifter raised by very loving human parents. Due to this, there's a lot about being a shifter he doesn't understand. He is drawn to Simon, a bartender, and soon realizes they are fated mates. Simon sees Matteo at his bar, finds his shyness and clumsiness endearing, and soon works up the courage to ask him out.

These two were so adorable. They were meant to be, especially with Simon's interest in all things tentacles. This story checked off all the boxes for me. It was sweet and steamy, and we had mpreg of the egg variety! I especially enjoyed the use of tentacles in sex…it was hot. I loved the ending as well~ sweet and romantic. Overall I enjoyed it and wished it was longer.

MM Romance
Fated Mates
3 Stars ⭐️

This is a cute little novella about an octopus shifter and his human fated mate. This couple was featured in the tentacle anthology I just read as side characters and I wanted to know their story. While this was cute, I would have preferred a bit more tentacle action. 😂 BUT I loved the egg-preg just as I did in the other octopi shifter books I’ve read. I usually hate mpreg but there is something about egg-preg that is fascinating to my brain. I dont know why but it just works for me and since all octopus shifter books seem to have it, it’s a damn good thing I can tolerate it because I am a whore for tentacles. It’s also kind of hot when the egg itself is being inserted with the mating tentacle. 🥵😂

Super adorable tentacle story

This was just too cute. I knew from the first date to a tentacle exhibit that I would love these characters. The story is relatively short so things progress pretty quickly, though it still hit all the milestones I wanted. There were some typos throughout the book, but not enough to detract from my enjoyment too much.

This story is set within the same 'verse as A Collection of Strays, but this definitely works as a standalone, as the characters are only briefly mentioned.

Matteo is a shy octopus shifter, although he's adopted and was raised by humans, so there's a lot about his shifter side that he still doesn't know or understand. But he knows that he likes Simon, he just needs to work up the courage to do something about it!

Simon is a bar tender and is enamored by how sweet - and clumsy - Matteo is. I thought they were so sweet together. It also works that he has a certain affinity for a kink that aligns with who Matteo is LOL, and I'll leave it at that.

I enjoyed this for a sweet, angst-free, sexy time with consentacles, and I thought it was very sweet! Some things were like a bit...too easy? If that makes sense, but the author wasn't try to have an angst fest or anything, so it kinda works, too, if that makes sense. Basically, come for the fluff, stay for the tentacles.

Looking forward to more from this author! (I hope they get back to their sci-fi series, personally!)

Thank you for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this silly but sweet shifter romance!

First of all, book titles with puns are the BEST!! And it definitely fits the mood of this book. I really enjoyed the romance between Matteo and Simon! They are cute and affectionate, though their instant mates love was a bit rushed. But Simon's love of octopi and suckers is fantastic and hilarious and a joy to read.

Their kinky steamy bits are loads of fun, and the octopus anatomy was engagingly portrayed.

The book was a super quick read, and could have been spaced out better, but if you want a silly, steamy, octopus shifter romance, you're in for a treat.

Thank you GRR for this ebook arc in exchange for an honest review.

Unusual shifter

While it was short, it was super sweet and not overly graphic, focusing more on the feelings rather than what was happening. I loved how this ties in loosely with the collection of strays books

Cute, short and hot. What else you need?

I love tentacle stories and eggpreg is my other love, so these two together is the best thing. Loved the slow but instalove between Simon and Matteo, they were really adorable, and loved that while Matteo was an octopus shifter, he was so, so shy and was afraid that Simon wouldn't like him because of his tentacles. But surprise, surprise, Simon is addicted to tentacles, so this match was made in heaven! LOL

While I liked reading the story, the sudden pregnancy and acceptance of egg laying was a bit to fast for me, but aside that is was a really lovely story.

Plus! I'm always looking for different tentacle stories, where the shifter one is the bottom and not the top, and in this book exactly how it was at first.

Oh, this was such a funny, sweet story. Mateo and Simon were so sweet apart and together. There was one section where I got a little sad, but the rest of the book was so sweet. I love Mateo's parents and Tif.

Characters were sweet and story was a fun, quick read. But outside the relationship, the (lack of) world building left me with so many questions…

This was just absolute sweetness! It’s a fated mates instalove story featuring just two of the most adorable MCs around. I was looking for something cute that could make me smile when I started this one and it definitely checked all the boxes. There’s a small amount of conflict, but it’s easily overcome and the two MCs work through it quickly to get their sweet HEA. You also get some steamy tentacle goodness which is always a win in my book!

This was a sweet quick tentacle mpreg romance. I so enjoyed this. Matteo is a shifter who is just crushing on the bartender but does not have the courage to ask him out. Simon does not have the same issue, and so they begin a whirlwind romance. This was a fated mates shifter romance that was just perfect. I truly enjoyed this quick read. There was very little angst and you know, tentacles!! Definitely recommend this read to anyone who thinks this sounds like your jam.

ARC provided and this is my honest review.

Yay for the mate, mate, mate parts. The story was cute even with the cheesy dialogue but I had to quit at the mpreg. I should have read the summary better.

I received an arc of A Sucker for You by Toby Wise from Gay Romance Reviews and the author in exchange for an honest review.

It’s the story of Matteo and Simon. We don’t get to see their first meeting. We come upon them both mid-crush and they basically are in love after one date, but it’s a bit fated-mates-y too. The meat of the story is them learning to live together and love each other. Turns out Matteo’s octopus pheromones change Simon’s physiology and there’s some tentacle action and bingpot! Simon’s pregnant with eggs.

This book is not overly swoony and there’s no angst. But it was an enjoyable way to spend two hours of my day even though it was only slightly bananas. (The tentacles.) Really, I enjoyed the writing and the humor and I wanted more. I wanted to see them meet and get the crushes. I wanted pining before the payoff. But what I got was still some solid love between two nice people having adventures. So I give this book four stars and I will seek out more by this author.

I really enjoyed reading this short but highly entertaining MM tentacle romance that is completely standalone. The plot is interesting with an insta-love theme & has no violence or physical conflict in it. The characters are quite well-developed individuals with realistic doubts & reservations as the chemistry flares between them. There is good support from the secondary characters.
There is: a shy, awkward not so-human young man (Matteo) with a very unusual secret, a determined human male bartender (Simon), caring parents, various kinds of shifters, attractions, friendship, camaraderie, mates, some kink, drama, mild intrigue, secrets, loneliness, awkwardness, attractions, confusion, heartache, unexpected advice, determination, mates, surprises, love, some steamy scenes, contentment & a delightful epilogue.

Super cute story, low on angst and with two adorable MCs

I have to say, I love Toby’s A Collection of Strays universe so I was super excited to read this as it’s set in the same world (though it happily reads as a standalone). Matteo was perfect in all his shy, adorkable glory and Simon was the perfect person to love him. I particularly liked that this added something a little new to the idea of shifter meets mate – Matteo was raised by human parents so didn’t know much about how octopus shifters worked (beyond the obvious!). In that way, they both are learning and we got to see someone discover more about who he is and where he’s from. There were also some lovely tentacly times which Simon was very much happy to partake in (I thought it was adorable that Simon was worried about his kink given what Matteo is)!

This was sweet, fun and a little steamy – the perfect short read!

Awesome, another great book by this author!!

This book is so different from all the others while keeping the choosen family theme. An octopus adopted by humans and given a short course in shifters by a wolf... yeah, that's promising. When he realizes that he is changing his boyfriend, it's a panic. How will they cope? Well.... Star is back to bring some sense in them!!!

If you are a fan of different shifters, this book is for you. Some scenes are hot, some are weird in a good way. Read this book filled with doubt, but full of love and acceptance.

I take off a star, I really wish I had attended the meet the parents, it should have promised a really funny chapter.

I was drawn right into the story of quirky, sweet, shy octopus shifter Matteo and Simon, the human bar tender he's crushing on.

I really enjoyed watching them grow closer. They fit together really well.

This is a lovely novella of finding your mate. Though there is a little angst, it's a happy, feel good tentacles story which was definitely smoking hot at times.

Not the most impressive world building and I was decidedly disappointed with the lack of tentacle play. I mean there was one scene then the birth. The beginning was pretty cute, but overall lack luster.

This is the 3rd book of Toby Wise I finished and I just really love his books. His books get me always so freakin happy.
This book was no exception. Besides the fact that I really like shifter and mpreg, well in this case eggpreg, books a lot this book was wonderful overall.
I love the characters so much. Mateo who is this shy and clumsy but also super cute guy and then Simon who is caring and wonderful and just very open minded.
The story is very fast but I liked it and everything is maybe a little too perfect but whatever I love it and it made me all happy reading it.
I liked the side characters too and I love that all of them are so very accepting.
Like in his other shifter book I am still confused about wether humans know about shifters and other creatures or not.
Also I found it weird that Mateo as a water creature himself enjoyed going to the aquarium. Seeing all those sea creatures being trapped there wouldn’t be something I like if I am basically one of them.
However overall I loved this a lot and I am looking forward to read more of his books. Soon his new series called “Studio C” will be released which is also a shifter one. I am looking forward to read the first books “watching me”.

Mateo is an octopus shifter who grew up in a human family He has only learned about shifters and mates from a land based shifter so he knows only what he has discovered about octopus shifters. Every weekend Mateo goes to a bar hoping to get up the courage to ask out Simon the bartender. After humiliating himself the first time he met Simon by calling him Simone, Mateo is nervous about talking to the human whose scent is arousing his octopus.

Simon likes shy Mateo and is hoping he really is interested in him. The problem is if they start dating, Simon will have to explain his love for all things tentacles. It is an unusual kink and might turn Mateo off. To his surprise Mateo isn't upset by his love of octopi and tentacles. As a matter of fact, Mateo has a special secret for him too.

This is a good book with cute characters. I received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

*3.5 - 4 stars*

"A Sucker for You" is a very short story by Toby Wise, which focuses mainly on the two main characters' love story. As for the plot, we can easily say that we don't really have one here. "A Sucker for You" is a simple, short, pleasant romance in which two people find life partners in each other and learn something new about themselves at the same time. What's also important, this is a story we read in one sitting, which fits in well with the romantic vibe and the lack of an actual plot. Just a quick read to have a good day and relax in the evening.

An undoubtedly interesting thing about "A Sucker for You" is that in this novella Toby Wise gives readers "biology" lessons, as one of the characters explains to our heroes the principles of octopus shifters' sexual life. The fact that the reader learns the shapeshifting sea creatures' secrets along with the main characters means that the story does not turn into some kind of encyclopedia, but it develops exactly as the author planned it. I really think that is an advantage because there are as many ideas to develop the topic of sexual relations as there are writers, especially when we add tentacles to this mix… Yes, I think it speaks for itself.

Finally, I would like to mention the main characters, Matteo and Simon. I liked the fact that the boys match each other in a different than average way. My point is precisely that Matteo's animal nature is a response to Simon's interests and quiet desires. An octopus shifter and a man with a weakness for tentacles? Yes, this connection is out of this world. So while Matteo and Simon are just two rays of sunshine and are easy to like, their real value, in my opinion, is exactly the fact that these two creatures, belonging in a way to two different races, fit together perfectly.

To sum up, "A Sucker for You" is an enjoyable novella that you will read in the blink of an eye. The presented story is light, short and really gives us a great opportunity to smile and relax as it make us think positive. To put it short, it's worth your time and you should read it.

„A Sucker for You” to bardzo krótka historia autorstwa Toby Wise, która skupia się w głównej mierze na historii miłosnej dwójki głównych bohaterów. Jeśli chodzi o fabułę, można powiedzieć, że takowej w tej historii nie znajdziemy. „A Sucker for You” jest prostym, krótkim, przyjemnym romansem, w którym dwoje osób odnajduje w sobie nawzajem życiowych partnerów i jednocześnie uczy się czegoś nowego o sobie. Co ważne, jest to historia, którą czytamy za jednym posiedzeniem, co dobrze komponuje się z romansem i brakiem innej fabuły. Ot, szybka lektura na dobry dzień, wieczorny relaks.

Niewątpliwie ciekawą stroną „A Sucker for You” jest to, że Toby Wise udziela czytelnikom lekcji „biologii”, kiedy to jedna z postaci wyjaśnia naszym bohaterom zasady seksualnego „funkcjonowania” zmiennokształtnych ośmiornic.

Podsumowując, „A Sucker for You” to przyjemna lektura, którą czyta się w mgnieniu oka. Przedstawiona historia jest lekka, krótka i naprawdę pozwala nam się uśmiechnąć, zrelaksować i nastawia nas pozytywnie do życia. Warto ją więc przeczytać.

A Sucker For You is a really sweet short story that is a spin off from Toby's Collection Of Strays series.
Matteo is an octopus shifter raised by two wonderful human parents. So when he meets the man of his dreams and things start to change between them, he had no idea of what was possible between them. Simon was attracted to Matteo from the moment he came into the bar. So shy and introverted, crying out for someone to look after him. Simon is more than happy to take on that role but it comes with so much more than he was ever expecting.
I love Toby's shifter stories and this is another wonderful creation. I've never read octopus shifters before but Matteo is so innocent and cute in his joy and love of both sides of himself, its easy to love him and the story that unfolds as he and Simon move forward with their relationship.
This is a fairly low angst story that, with it being a shorter story, moves along quite quickly with both men knowing they share a strong connection pretty much from the start. I love the side characters of Tif, Simon's best friend, and Matteo's parents. They all bring an added sense of family, love and acceptance. It's also good getting to see Star again.
Definitely a recommended read. Fans of Toby's will enjoy his continuation with another shifter story but this can absolutely be read as a stand alone.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
