She's turned demanding to speak to the manager into an art form.

But her name's not Karen, it's Bristol.

And her bossy streak makes me want to risk it all.

During my teammate Cole's wild bachelor party, a sassy blonde puts an unwelcome damper on our raunchy fun.

After just one look... I don't even know what hit me.

She storms into my reckless playboy world with her platinum blonde hair, pouty lips and curves for days.

For the first time since I was drafted, I tee it up, take a swing, and -

Big. Fat. Miss.

** cue screeching tires here **

Bristol McKay delights in heating my heart to smoldering and then leaving it in pieces.

Or does she?

Maybe she has a darn good excuse underneath all that bristling beauty and bluster.

The reason why she's spent her whole life honing her hatred of hockey players.

But I'm going to melt the frost from her wicked tongue and love every single second of it.

Even though every time I taste her, touch her, want her the Universe gives me a thousand reasons why I shouldn't.

After 26 years in Corporate leadership at a Fortune 500, I discovered people within the organization lacked integrity. I’d always known deep in my soul that I was trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole since I’m the typical creative type. I miss my staff but I don’t miss the corporate world. It’s been said that the Universe will let you know if something isn’t right for you. The first time, it will hit you with a pebble. Then a brick. Then a boulder. Let’s just say that I got flattened. When my fifteen pound toy dog, Nigel, was threatened, I knew it was time to say goodbye.
It’s true.
Here’s what I found within the first thirty days of being free. Writing stories from my heart that readers love means more to me than working myself in to an early grave for people who only care about their bottom line.
My heart has never been more full and my soul has never been more satisfied.
I’ve never worked so hard in my life but it doesn’t even feel like work. It’s worth it. All of it. Because it’s about the joy that’s found within the journey. The highs and the lows because I get to write stories for all of you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, enjoying and recommending the stories that I write. When you share my work with others, nothing is more rewarding. Your word of mouth is my very best friend … that, and your reviews. There is nothing more important to me than all of you.

4 Star reviews of The Zone (Rochester Riot #4) by Colleen Charles
Colleen Charles is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across her books before. This may have been me first book by Ms.Charles but it will not be my last.
From the first chapter I was hooked on the story she wove about Bristol McKay and Ealon Jones. He is a member of he Rochester Riot NHL team and one of the few single men left on the team, he has a reputation as a player but that is far from the truth. His life hasn't been easy but he has achieved so much and now has everything that he ever wanted, except for a lasting love.
Ealon wants to commit to a relationship but the problem is the woman he wants, cannot stand him. Bristol has an aversion to sportsmen in general, particularly hockey players and has no intention of falling for one, especially Ealon. However, there is a fine line between love and hate and the attraction that sizzles between them becomes impossible to ignore.
These two had a lot of chemistry going for them and Ealon was totally swoon worthy and had me falling for him, hook, line and sinker. A well written story with characters who were easy to relate to.

Should have been a DNF

I've read a couple of this author's books before and with the 2-3 star ratings i gave them, I figured this would be a filler book with Z title i needed for a reading challenge.
But no. Apparently my past ratings fooled me. Between the misogynistic comments and dialogue from the men (most were the H in a previous book) and the slut shaming comments from the women in the first half, this REALLY should have been a DNF from the first couple chapters.

This my first time reading the author and I have to say the foreword before the book began really hit me hard. Kudos to the author for writing about a subject that is so important in her life and sharing it with the characters she created.

I have never read this author or this series before. I believe it is #4 in the series and some romances can stand alone and catches you all up, this one refers to scenes I had not read before because they happened in other books so at certain points I was a bit lost when it refers to events that had happened in other books.

That said I enjoyed meeting and getting to know Ealon and Bristol. Bristol hates all hockey players, She thinks there are one or two good ones but the rest are jerks and not worth her time. Ealon, she thinks is the worst of them and she even saw him naked (in a previous book I have not read.)

This is a hot story, there are MANY hot times in this story between Bristol and Ealon. But this book is also a romance and heavy on the romance. I adored how in with Bristol, Ealon was and I adored all the special dates he arranged just for her. As to Bristol, she is afraid of commitment and love because at a young age she lost her father and not thru death but thru abandonement in the worst way.

Ealon also lost a father but his was thru alcohol and eventually death and he dealt with it by creating a foundation and helping single moms and their kids. The difference between the two is that he is not bitter and Bristol is. Can Ealon heal her broken heart? Can she move ahead and find forgiveness? and love? Well you have to read this stry to find out.

This was a fast paced story and enjoyed the authors writing and characters. I have plans to read the series from the beginning because I enjoyed getting to know the supporting characters in this series.

The only thing I did not enjoy reading was how some of the guys talked about Bristol and using the B word and some of the words they used to discuss her. I felt it showed a lack of respect for women and I was slightly offended on her behalf. I will say that I enjoyed how Ealon defended her when the guys called her that.

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Colleen Charles writes sports romance so well that I feel as if I know the teams and the players. The Minnesota Caribou and the Rochester Riot are facing off to see who is advancing to play for the Stanley Cup. They know each other all too well since their stadiums are only a couple of hours apart. It's in this setting that Ealon, a star on ice and with the women, meets Bristol, an event planner who is dead set against hockey players. Something in her past has tarnished her opinion of the athletes. As far as she's concerned, they are persona non grata with her and she sees Ealon as the worst of the worst. Would anybody else be caught dead coming down an inflatable slide, totally naked? Great first impression! Okay, drinking at a bachelor party may have had something to do with it. He's not what he appears to be. Not the manho that his reputation insists he is and definitely not the stoic player who can have any woman he chooses. The real Ealon is someone Bristol is going to uncover, bit by bit, until she doesn't bristle with hostility, simply by being in his presence. They have a certain sweetness about them and they are definitely hot together as they draw closer. It doesn't take much time before they are both thinking long term. But when she comes face to face with her past, things spiral out of control. She's consumed with rage, but rage at the wrong person. As Bristol learns the truth of who she is, the open wounds of her past begin to heal. A touching HEA and a clever and romantic epilogue make this a delight.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Rochester Riot series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Bristol has a strong dislike for hokey players they are all no good jerks (she may be wrong) but in her head that is how she sees them, and they are not worth her time. Bristol is really afraid of trust, putting herself out there and love because she lost her father through abandonment at a young age. Ealon sexy as all get out hokey star has had his share of pain in the loss of his father due to alcohol, he started a foundation to help cope with the pain and loss. The moment he meets Bristol she intrigues him because she bristles with hostility, simply by being in his presence and he needs to get to the bottom of it. After taking time to get to know him she learns he isn’t the drunken womanizer she thought him to be there is plenty of heart underneath the facade the chemistry is intense, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored but is it enough to help heal her brokenness and can she find peace/happiness?

4.5 Stars for The Zone ( Rochester Riot #4)
This is the first book I have read by this author but it won’t be the last because I need more from the Rochester Riot hockey team. This is Ealon Jones and Bristol McKay’s riveting journey, their story drew me in from the first chapter and didn’t let me go until I had read the final line.
Ealon has a reputation as a player on and off the ice but nothing could be further than the truth, yes he has had his fair share of one night stands but he also is a man of depth and it will take a very special woman to peel back his layers, could Bristol be that woman….
Bristol hates hockey player as far as she’s concerned they are cocky playboys who cheat their way through life but she can’t hide the attraction she has for Ealon and her feelings only grow as she gets to know the real man.
Will this couple get the relationship and HEA they both deserve or will a man from Bristol’s past ruin everything before it even begins. Guess you need to read the book to find that out.
This book touched me on so many levels, I really related to Bristol and the feelings she had about men, I fell hard and fast for Ealon, I swooned and I sighed as I watched him open up to Bristol, I laughed at the witty banter and I really didn’t want this steamy, entertaining book to end. Looking forward to playing catch up with this series as soon as time permits.

Bristol dislikes Ealon. He's a player, loves attention and just an overall shallow person. Plus, to top it all off, he's a hockey player, and she totally hates them, especially given the events of her past. Yet, as she and Ealon get to know each other, she realises that maybe she's been judging him unfairly, and that the man with the cocky swagger may be the one man she can't live without.

Ealon realises that Bristol dislikes him, and might actually hate him. But the hockey player can't stop thinking about her, and sets out to make sure that she falls under his spell. But, after spending time with her, he realises her barbs and pricklers are a shield for the vulnerable woman beneath. When she steals his heart, he realises that it may be high time to make her his forever.

"She's going to be my whole world. Maybe she already is."

This story tugs at your heartstrings. While you may find yourself wanting to shake Bristol, you can't help but sympathise with the hurt girl hiding behind the ice queen façade. The author set things up nicely with a heartfelt introduction, making the story personal, yet relatable. She made me love the couple before I even met them.

I recommend this read wholeheartedly. Bristol & Ealon will steal your heart as their chemistry, banter and romance keep you entertained.

This was a fun book to read! Ealon was a hilarious H as a reformed player who’s found the one woman who will ice him out. Bristol is known as the ice queen because of the frosty exterior she presents to people. That and she can’t stand hockey players. Ealon knows there is more beneath the ice and is determined to thaw it!

Ealon is really funny. I enjoyed his character so much. He’s also really sweet. I loved how taken her was with Bristol from the very beginning. Their meet cute is funny too! Ealon is his nothingness and Bristol ranting and raving. Bristol takes a bit to grow on you but when you find out what she been through in life, you start to understand her so much better. You will love her as you start to see beneath the exterior too.

These two together are also very steamy. Colleen always does an excellent job writing her steamy scenes. I especially liked the ones in this book! They are so well written and the characters really evolve as a couple in these scenes. Overall and amazing book and I would recommend it for sure!

Colleen Charles scores with THE ZONE (Rochester Riot #4). Assistant captain, Ealon Jones, had his eyes set on event consultant, Bristol McKay. Unfortunately, he did not make the best first impression on her. This story takes place in Minnesota. It is suitable for adult readers.

Ealon’s reputation precedes him. His reputation is not all that accurate. Bristol has the wrong impression of him; mostly because of childhood experience. I appreciated that as they got to know one another. They realized they had a lot in common.

Being an animal lover, I love that Ealon has a hobby farm. He is a great guy whom you cannot help but adore. I love how he gives back to the community. The story had some interesting twist. It was skillfully written and entertaining throughout. The characters were well-developed and likeable. I recommend this story to people who enjoy sports romances. I enjoyed this book despite never having read any other books in this series, it worked really well as a stand-alone but I think would be great if read in series order too

Bristol and Ealon meet in less than desirable circumstances (that I assume happened in an earlier book as they are never really covered in this book) and yet both can’t seem to forget about the other.

Ealon falls hard and eager to put his playboy rep to bed and settle, he struggles to learn the rules of dating rather than hitting and quitting, but tries so hard.
Bristol hates hockey players, which isn’t a great start but as much as she tries she can’t stop thinking about Ealon.

A fun story with totally laugh out loud moments in it, the romance is sizzling and the characters well developed and some up and down moments to keep the pages turning.

I look forward to the next book in the series

A heartfelt yet very steamy book all about misconceptions and how they affect our lives and relationships.

Bristol couldn't stand Ealon at first. Her thinking was that he was like every other hockey player in the NHL. However, Ealon recognizes that there's something about her that won't allow him to leave her be.

They finally start dating and little by little does Bristol realize that everything she thought at first about Ealon was completely wrong. She is finally able to start letting her heart open bit by bit.

But only the future can tell what's about to happen.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt so close to both characters and I could really relate to both of them right off the bat.

It's each other's differences that make us all so unique. And it's also our similarities that draw us together.

And this story really does a great job of showing us that. A wonderful story. I highly recommend.

The Zone
Ealon Jones is nearly thirty. He is at the peak of his career playing for The Rochester Riot NHL team and still single while many of his teammates are “coupled up”. Everyone thinks he is a player but the truth is that he secretly wants to be in a serious relationship with the one woman who despises him, and never pretends any different. As a matter of fact, Bristol McKay has nothing but disdain for ALL professional athletes, and especially hockey players.
But, Ealon is on a mission to show her he is different and that he is in it for the long haul.
I loved this story about a young man who started out with nothing and has worked hard to get to where he now has everything he could want except the woman he’s falling in love with. Another hot hockey hit for Colleen Charles!

Ealon is a professional hockey player who has a reputation with women, but it is more because he hasn’t met the right woman rather than his desire to remain single. He was immediately attracted to Bristol however convincing her to give him a chance may be the biggest challenge of all.

Bristol has no interest in allowing Ealon into her personal life as she believes that he is an entitled athlete who is only looking for one thing. The only problem with that theory is that with everything he does or says he surprises her and she beginning to wonder if there is more to the man than his career and reputation.

Ealon and Bristol have both overcome different pasts which has shaped them into the people they are today. As they open their hearts to each other they realize that they aren’t that different after all and want the same things in life which is each other.

This is the 4th book in this awesome series and is Ealon and Bristol’s story. Ealon has worked exceptionally hard to come as far as he has in his career, and his fellow teammates thinks he is a playboy. When Ealon and Bristol cross paths the sparks fly. Bristol hates all professional athletes, especially hockey players, and Ealon is on a mission to prove to her that he is not linked with that stigma. Bristol certainly does not make things easy for him, and the chemistry between them is explosive and undeniable. This is a well written flawless story which is emotionally charged, and is a fun, entertaining, and humorous read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I haven't read any other books in the series but as its a stand alone I didnt feel I missed anything by not reading the previous books.
Bristol has a preconceived idea about hockey players and has tarnished them all with the same brush, but Ealon was determined to show her he wasn't a player and there were more layers to him than just being a hockey player.
I really liked Ealon, he seemed like a fun guy, I liked his banter with the other hockey players and how he was around the kids he helped.
Bristol took a little more warming up to but once she started letting down her walls and you got to know more about her she also was more fun than she liked to show people.
A nice, make you smile romance

5-stars for The Zone

This book was the first I read from the Rochester Riot series but I'll definitely be going back to read the first three books in this series. The Zone is well written with push and pull between Bristol & Ealon, their banter and chemistry is great added to their steam makes this one well rounded book. Colleen Charles has outdone herself writing The Zone as she also captures past hurt that these two heal for each other. 100% not missing and definitely recommend The Zone! Don't miss this amazing read!

If you like hockey romances you will love this.
I read this in one sitting. I got into the characters immediately despite having not read any others in the series.
Sometimes the chemistry just works and this was one of those times. It was the right amount of anxiety, vulnerability, romance, steam, cuteness……
There was a fair amount of actual hockey too. Sometimes you get hockey romances that just mean the MC plays hockey but this had some game action and had a focus of hockey in general.
I definitely going to be reading more in this series and more by this author.

This was such a fun read. Ealon is smitten the first time he meets Bristol and can’t help thinking about her. Unfortunately Bristol doesn’t like hockey players, especially since their first meeting was a bit shocking to say the least. However, Ealon is persistent and eventually wins Bristol over for a date, and then a second. When it seems that their relationship is going well, a ghost from Bristol’s past along with unresolved issues shows up and could derail everything. I thought this book was quite entertaining and really liked the banter between Ealon and Bristol.

This is Book 4 in the Rochester Riot Series and my first read by this author, and I must say I quite liked the storyline and the characters. It is an emotional, steamy romance between the Rochester Riot Hockey Team player Ealon and PR director Bristol. These flawed but likeable characters and the unique plot make for an enjoyable read. It is a love story with enough drama, sweetness, frustrating moments, humor, steam, plus engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. It can be read as a standalone but you enhance your reading pleasure if you read the other books in the series.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Ealon and Bristol. He's a hickey player and she's an event planner. They meet at Cole's bachelor party when Ealon slides down a slide naked. Bristol doesn't like him to start with because he is a hockey player, like her dad left them. He vows he's going to make her less prickly because there's something about her that he just is infatuated with. She fights him tooth and nail and discovers the true man beneath the facade. Great HEA in the end.

Another fantastic hockey romance from Colleen Charles! I loved Ealon and Bristol’s story! It was an emotionally charged story full of fun, humor, sparks, drama and a lot of hot, steamy sexiness! It drew me in and kept me reading until the end! Ealon wants a relationship with Bristol, but she doesn’t want anything to do with hockey players. He’s determined to show her he’s different. Soon he finds out just why she doesn’t like hockey players and wow is he surprised! I loved The Zone! If you like a great hockey romance then The Zone is the book for you!

This is one of this authors best books yet! 2 people who both were raised without fathers, each left with strong impressions of life and relationships find themselves navigating toward a future together. Bristol hates NHL players and has walls up a mile high. Ealon is a NHL player who has a playboy reputation but has so many layers, he is just incredible! They were so much fun to read because Bristol could give sass as good as Ealon, their banter was great! This story is so heartwarming, sassy and fun with a lot of sexy heat thrown in.

Being new to Ms.Charles's work I've been looking forward to picking up one of her books! Once I found out about this one I wanted to read it first. I liked it!

Bristol and Ealon's journey isn't quite the easy one. I enjoyed the fact that I felt different things throughout with both of these characters and how I wasn't sure what all was going to happen with these two. I just struggled at certain points to fully get into it.

With The Zone, Ms.Charles has created a good read!

A steamy sport romance.

A steamy sports romance! Swoon worthy from start to finish, I fell for Ealon and Bristol’s journey. Both characters had daddy issue but having strong mothers gave them the life they have now. Their connection sizzles from the first meeting and when she finally cannot deny their chemistry, the heats burns. I enjoyed this heartfelt storyline with great characters with just the right amount of drama and glorious heat level that kept me entertained until the end. A must read for fans of sport romance.

This book had so much heart and I really liked that. The storyline gives you plenty of feels while being a whole lot of fun. I have to admit that I fell very hard for Ealon and he had my heart kind of aching for him. As for Bristol, I liked her. The chemistry and sparks were off the charts and I loved them as a couple. A really enjoyable romance that left me smiling and swooning. This is my independent, candid review.

This was a great book! I loved the banter between Ealon and Bristol throughout the book, but especially in the beginning. They were a perfect match for each other, but obstacles were thrown in that they had to overcome. This book made me laugh and I loved the friendship and family that was brought into it. I will definitely read this again and will look for more from this author as this was a first read for me.

This is a great 2nd chance, sports romance with the perfect amount of spice added in. I loved how we really got to know the characters. There was also a surprise twist I did not see coming!!!!

This is not the first book in the series but is a complete stand alone. It is actually the first book in the series that I read, however I will be reading the rest now! Everything you need to know is given to you.

Ealon is a hot hockey player for the Riot’s, that has a reputation of being a player, when in fact he wants a relationship. Then he meets Bristol. Bristol is an event planner, and has an aversion to professional athletes, especially hockey players. Ealon is determined to prove to her he isn’t a player and to take a chance on him. I loved the banter and chemistry between Ealon and Bristol, and they were perfect together. A great hockey romance!!

Great hockey romance. They have both grown up without fathers in their lives. Bristol has let that influence her life and choices. She feels all men are users. Ealon is a hockey player with a playboy reputation. He thins Bristol is the one. Can he get her to change her mind and take a chance at love?
