“Revenge, the sweetest morsel to the mouth that ever was cooked in hell.”
― Walter Scott, The Heart of Mid-Lothian

Emilia has a very dark hobby - she’s learning how to get away with murder. Primary schoolteacher by day - killer by night!

Just one fateful night changed Emilia’s life forever. After being abducted, she was gang raped and beaten to within an inch of her life by seven individuals. The violence that she was subjected to (both physical and sexual) was simply horrifying, and furthermore, her attackers filmed her ordeal and posted it live on the Dark Web. The perpetrators threatened to hurt her family and friends, unless she kept quiet, so she told everyone that she’d been the victim of a hit and run. Her ordeal doesn’t end there though, the physical scars may heal eventually, but the mental scars run very deep. She’s finding it difficult to cope until she decides to exact revenge on the seven individuals and make them pay for what they did to her that night.

The Kill List ventures into insanely dark and disturbing territory, the stuff of nightmares, and describes horrific violence, (not for the faint hearted) but does it make for a gripping read? Most certainly.

The level of research required, into the vile workings of the Dark Web, and the ‘commodities’ on offer, together with studying various methods of murder, to present this tale of revenge, must have kept the author up at night! Nevertheless, it’s a gripping read - and I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Emilia!

* My thanks to Vicky Fitzgerald for sending me an early digital copy of The Kill List in exchange for an honest unbiased review *

Emilia should be planning her wedding but instead, she’s lying in a ditch almost dead.

She’s been kidnapped, raped, tortured, and filmed for profit on the internet.

The villains are especially heinous as they purposely get off on humiliating and hurting women. Rich successful men in authoritative positions, they’re immune to justice. Plus one woman who should know better.

Revenge fantasies have a place in my reading rotation. I pull for characters taking their power back after they’ve hit bottom and I enjoyed this story for that reason.

The action chapters were plotted with interesting facts about the Dark Web, smart houses, and hacking into security systems. I especially like schemes in general which this book contained.

Be aware that this was intensely violent. Although queasy about bloodshed, I was able to stomach the descriptive scenes - but there were several “grip the edge of my chair” moments.

However, I was thrown off by the contrasting sentiment of the characters which was at odds with the gruesomeness. With several narrators, we’re privy to their inner dialogues and those chapters seemed over wrought with emotion and became repetitive. Such a hard hitting story combined with softness didn't coagulate in my view.

Dichotomy for the win.

A soul shred to pieces and the horror relived, again and again, the darkness that absorbs all the light in your world, so much that the only course of action is to take matters into your own two hands!

Kill List raises goosebumps on our skin, it is obvious that the author has conducted some diligent research to get those novel ideas for murder and the various ways forensic prints can be erased from the site of murders and it is quite a commendable work. Surely not for faint-hearted, Kill List definitely veers into the dark side of a human psyche so fair warning to readers who have problems with gory murder, the deaths are absolutely horrific and grisly.

Emilia is happy and celebrating her newfound love and partying with friends when the unthinkable happens; abducted, gang-raped, abused, tortured, and left to die within an inch of her life. With the warning of dire consequences to loved ones ringing in her years, she has no choice but to remain silent and keep putting one foot in front of the other and struggle for breath every single day. However, the rage that consumes her is not dying down, and a chance meeting with one of them reignites the burning fire to crush and destroy the high and the mighty of the society who were the perpetrators of the gruesome crime, and as she relives the horror on the dark web the line of moral rights and wrong becomes blurred and Emilia pushes herself to be an avenging dark angel and ruin all 7 of her rapists.

Told from multiple points of view, the revenge drama had me glued to its pages even when a few of the murders made me squirm and take deep breaths. It was interesting to see that with each murder being committed, Emilia’s inner peace gets destroyed which I felt was exceedingly well-done. Emilia becomes a killer to continue living and she’s definitely not a hard-core murderer with no conscience, so each act of revenge takes a piece of her reinforcing that revenge also comes with a price.

The author delivers the story point-blank and, in some instances, brutally but as the subject matter is such, the reader is left with a lump in the throat reading about Emilia’s struggle and I hadn’t a clue how everything was gonna gets tied up as the high stakes game takes on twisty new turns with her family being targeted. The climax had those C’MON moments which were absolutely thrilling and with that ending, I believe there’s more to come from Emilia.

Shattering…mind f**ked ☔☔☔☔☔

Emelia had gone out one evening to meet up with some friends at a local club. Music and dancing .. sounds like a great way to spend a weekend night. On this occasion, though, she felt a little sick and decided she needed some fresh air.

Unfortunately, she was grabbed, thrown in the back of a van and driven away. She was found the nest morning, barely breathing. She had been beaten, assaulted, stabbed, tortured.

It would take a while before she would/could tell anyone what had happened to her. She's suffering with nightmares of the events that night until she comes up with a plan that will let her breathe a little easier.

There were 7 men, a judge, a couple of cops, well known businessmen, and she decided that the scum of the earth should be eliminated. One by one she becomes a killer ... she did to them what they had done to her. She wanted them to know the fear she had faced .. only none of them would be left alive.

There are a few twists and turns that keep the eyes glued to this page-turning story. Well written, the characters are deftly drawn. The ending came as an unexpected surprise. Although not a cliff hanger, there was room made for the possibility of another book.

Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Kill List is one of those books where I simply wasn’t the right reader for it. On the surface, it seemed like something I would adore. I love a good revenge thriller. Unfortunately, because of the work I do, I never quite felt the connection to the character that I had hoped for and this resulted in me never quite being as invested in it as I would have liked.

I’m sure many will be hooked on this one, curious to see how the pieces come together. It’s certainly a storyline that has you intrigued about how the pieces will come together, one where you can easily believe the reason for wanting revenge. Although these details were interesting, without the emotion I had hoped for – especially considering how heavy the topic is – I never passed the point where I was desperate to see what happened. Interested, yes. However, I could put the book down and focus on something else without feeling the overwhelming urge to continue.

I’m sure many will enjoy this revenge story – it is certainly an interesting tale – but my investment in it was lacking.

This book was great! Extremely violent at times, but realistic and daring. The horrible things that happened to the main character ring true in fragments of today's society. Revenge plus Karmic debt were both served up cold in this well-written thriller. I appreciate this author's direct and sharp tone. She doesn't mince words or meanings, and she does not pander to the weak of heart. A very compelling work. Bravo!

I don't rate many books 5 stars because nothing is perfect. There are some books that come close, and I think this is one of those books. There was always something happening to keep me interested.I thought this had just the right ending. It kept me thinking about the book even after I was finished reading.
I want to thank the author for providing me with a free copy of her book in exchange for my review.

I would like to start off by saying I found the writing to be phenomenal. The book intrigued me, sucked me in and it was hard to look away and stop.. I found it so easy to connect with Emilia. I understood her, I felt for her, my chest tightened as I read through her emotion and the unthinkable things that happened to her. This was a very rough read for me ONLY because of how well written I found it.. I deeply feel for Emilia and her father. I understand their desire for revenge, but unfortunately I cannot take that journey with them. This book is a little too dark for my taste. Very descriptive.. very graphic. If that doesn’t bother you, you’ll more than likely love this book. Maybe one day I’ll be able to finish this gut wrencher but at this time, I cannot. DNF.

I really enjoyed this fast paced and captivating read, I liked the plot and couldn't wait to see what would happen through out the story. Emilia is the main character, she is a strong and feisty woman who likes to kill. When she decides to hunt the gamers that stole her life, they were not expecting her to fight back as much as she does, but it's up to her to get justice and she has a plan, a plan with the help of someone that will bring everyone and everything down. Will she get the closure she needs or not? I really liked the way the book was set out, the writing is descriptive so you really feel as though you are alongside her, thought I don't think I would want to be as she is a little scary for me. I wouldn't want to mess with her. I feel as though there are more great books to come from Vicki and I cannot wait.

Vicki Fitzgerald is fast becoming one of my favorite authors as it's clear she can write in any genre; from her heartbreaking but ultimately heartwarming memoir about her journey of abuse and healing (Still Standing), to this novel of psychological terror, Fitzgerald shows strong, confident female protagonists. In this book Emilia, and an unlikely accomplice are determined to exact revenge on a group who brutally attacked her and left her for dead. Not for the faint of heart, it is chilling and dark as the two peruse the Dark Web with all its gruesome selections and anonymous strangers with perverse predilections. I couldn't put it down and read it in two sittings as it grabs you by the throat and shakes you around like a rag doll! And yet the end is creepily satisfying and I was whooping with delight as there will be a sequel. Bravo Vicki! You've done it again!

Emelia suffers the unthinkable. Through no fault of her own, she is drugged and subjected to despicable acts by a group of seven men.

What to do now? After understandably wallowing in grief and depression, and after isolating from her boyfriend and her family, she decides to take action. And, oh boy, what gruesome action she takes!

The novel does a nice job of delving into the two sides of Emelia's mind: the all-consuming need for revenge and the self-disgust at the acts she is committing. The same dichotomy exists in two other characters in the book, and the author's ability to paint a portrait of very troubled souls is impressive and imperative. The constant racing thoughts going back and forth between doing what you feel compelled to do and hating what you're doing makes the book ultra-urgent and relatable.

There are a few twists as well, including the ending, which wallops a healthy punch and leaves room for a sequel.

Well done!

"Kill List" is the second crime novel by author Vicki Fitzgerald, and while not a sequel to "Briguella", it certainly lives up to its predecessor in content. Let me tell you now, if you have read "Briguella" and enjoyed it, you are in for a real treat. This book surpasses it in almost every way.

"Kill List" tells the story of Emilia, a woman who is seeking revenge after her brutal sexual attack by 7 men was broadcast on the dark web as part of a sick game called "Cipher". In this game men are awarded points on the basis of just how far they are willing to go at the behest of the bidders watching live online. Emilia is one of the few women who survived their night of terror, and has chosen to seek bloody revenge on them. What she was put through is certainly harrowing, and the graphic depictions of violence certainly had me rooting for her right from the get go.

At the other end of the scale we have DCI Benjamin Carmichael who has been tasked with finding the killer in a case which is almost impossible to solve. All he has to go on is the skull of a person who all evidence points to having suffered an excruciating death. His attempts to solve this murder quickly bring up his own past and the demons he is trying to banish.

"Kill List" is a roller-coaster ride of a book. A revenge thriller not for the faint of heart with some excruciatingly disturbing scenes (seriously, I was wincing in pain at some points). It is truly dark and disturbing, and for me, that's everything I look for in a thriller. A very entertaining read that I will certainly be recommending.

Brilliant, I loved it. There are some stories that you can feel the raw emotion come through the pages, and this is definitely one of those. The plot is amazing and incredibly tense from start to finish. I really enjoyed the way the Author has given us a perspective on what’s going on from each character’s point of view. What Emilia is put through certainly sent a chill down my spine, and it’s going to be a story that I remember for quite a while.
It’s hard for Di Benjamin Carmichael to tell if the skull that was found washed up on the shore was male or female, but one thing for sure, the victim didn’t have a pleasant death. He had never come across a killer before that had mutilated another human being in such a brutal way. Emilia Francis had a pretty good life up until she was gang raped by a group of evil men. As far as she was concerned her life was pretty much over. Or was it? Why should her life have any less value than the men that decided to attack her? Emilia had lied to her family and friends about what happened to her, as it wasn’t something, she could bare to share with anyone. Now she had to decide what she was going to do about it. This is a wonderful piece of writing from a talented Author. It’s a fabulous read, and well worth your time. 5/5 Star Rating.

Emilia Francis was very happy. She loved her job as a teacher. She had met a wonderful man. She was feeling very secure in her relationship with Mark. She had wonderful parents and siblings. So what could possibly disrupt this wonderful life of hers?

Emilia was to meet three of her friends at the Six Bar. They were all having a great time dancing and drinking. She started to feel very disoriented and sick, so she went outside to get some fresh air. She had left her friends inside having a good time. As she was leaning against the lamppost, someone attacked her, threw a hood over her face, and threw her in a vehicle. She was attacked viciously by quite a few men, who seemed to be playing a game; and she was the target. When they were finished with her, they threw her in a ditch leaving her for dead. Little did they know, she had survived. And she was coming for each and every one of them.

Apparently, they had constructed a game on the Dark Web, where individuals gained points according to how brutal they could be to their captive. Emilia discovered this information and decided she would use it to destroy each of them and the program called Cipher on the Dark Web. Emilia’s father was in the forensics department at the police department. He decided to help her, so she wouldn’t get caught.

Will she be able to destroy each of the people who were involved in her savage assault? Will her father and family get through this unscathed? Will the police finally get involved in this case, or are they involved as well? Will Emilia be able to destroy Cipher?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. But this book really does delve into the horrific things that are bought and sold on the Dark Web. The plot was exceptional, and certainly keeps the reader engaged throughout the book. The descriptions and character development of the antagonists and protagonists really reached into the depths of each person. The reader could relate to the characters and their feelings. By the end of the book, I really wanted the antagonists humiliated and destroyed. There was definitely quite a bit of research done for this book. The technical terminology used created an aura of understanding for the reader. I am looking forward to the next book by this great author.

“ Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”
A woman who has been raped and abused- a school teacher by day and something completely different by night. A man who knows he is guilty but still be coerced by a superior so feels he can’t say no despite knowing he is destroying his own life in the process. Other men who like nothing more than sex with violence, all arranged and then shown on the dark web for others to profit from. High ranking in the real world so feeling untouchable due to their secret group. A victim who somehow survives and wants revenge. This was captivating despite being some very sensitive scenes so not for the faint hearted as the deaths are played out in detail. A detail of the dark web and the macabre goings on that some see as a “game” to score points. A story of revenge and of a determined, tenacious woman and a detective who is determined to find out the truth one way or another. Who will survive? A dark and twisted tale - not one I would normally read but curiosity piqued and found myself in a world that many don’t know exist (albeit fiction in this case). An interesting dark. macabre read

It was gripping from page one so definitely not a slow burn.
I ‘enjoyed’ this book immensely (if that’s the right choice of words?). It was incredibly brutal and explicit and an absolute page turner.

This was so good!!!

I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. I literally flew through this book. I don't want to give any spoilers! What a way to open a book and it gets better and better and more and more gruesome from there.

I was so happy with the ending I clapped.

Absolutely loved this book.
Emilia as a character really makes you feel at times that you are in her shoes and I felt every emotion on her behalf.
Sinister and scary as it makes you really think about how this very possibly goes on in the outside world around us and we wouldn't even know!
Brilliantly written and I was sucked into the story straight away and couldn't put it down as I needed to find out if justice was served!!
Well worth a read and worth more than the 5 star option!

With the publication of her second crime novel, Vicki Fitzgerald has certainly arrived and needs to be taken seriously as an author to watch. In what has become a fairly crowded genre this book stands out as being something ‘a bit special’.
There are places on internet where things go on that we’d rather not know about and places we’d rather not go. But Fitzgerald leads us to these places and then uses them as a backdrop to spin a tale from which all our instincts are to recoil. But recoiling is not an option as the reader is drawn in, caught up and fascinated by how this tale of revenge is going to unfold. The characters are real. The emotions are visceral and raw. The objective is justice - Emilia’s Justice. The crime against her was vile: the revenge had to match - and it does. It really does!
The book is well researched and satisfying.
This story will take you on rollercoaster, so ‘buckle-up’ for the ride!
I’m waiting for the film!

I just want to say at the beginning that if you do not like reading books with quite a bit of violence, please do not pick up this book and then give the author a bad review.

Emillia has been violently raped and beaten and then left to die. Only she is found and rushed to a hospital. She doesn't tell her family or her boyfriend what really happened to her and she moves away. Then one day she sees one of the men who attacked her and when he doesn't recognize her, she decides to go on a killing spree.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

**I received a digital copy of this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.**

Wow, where to begin?! I really enjoyed this book! It was so fast paced and heart pumping. I easily could have read this in just a couple sittings had I had the time. I was intrigued and drawn in right from the start.

The writing was good, too good. The story is DARK. Do not go into this thinking it’s going to be a light revenge story because man.. I did not expect it to be so graphic, and so so dark. If super dark, deranged, gory stuff isn’t your thing, I’m not sure this one is for you. It was really hard for me to stomach it sometimes. I physically winced multiple, multiple times.

Our main character, Emilia, is.. I don’t know if I have words to explain her. She’s strong, determined, scary. I liked her character, and I felt inside of her mind reading this one. I also really enjoyed her dad’s character. Even the bad guys, I liked reading from. Carmichael was a well written villain (but not villain?).

This kept me on the edge of my seat. I needed to know what would happen and how it would play out. I do think the ending tied up a little too nicely in a satin bow, but it was still a satisfying end. I honestly did not expect the story to quite go in directions that it did. Some parts of it shocked me. There was somewhat of a cliffhanger, so I’m interested to know if there will be a follow up book to this one?

Overall, a great revenge story. It explores the dark web and how far someone will go to get revenge. Trigger warnings for literally everything. Rape, sexual assault, violence, torture. More for sure, but off the top of my head, that’s what stands out. If you have a hard time with any of those things, definitely do not read this one. It was dark. Dark, dark. I cannot stress this enough.

However, I’m not sure what it says about me, but it was so crazy of a read, I had to keep reading, and overall enjoyed it. Go into it lightly though!

Kill List is an adrenaline packed, seat of your pants thrill ride. However, this book is not for faint of the heart. At many times while reading this book, I felt like I was reading a script from the TV series, Criminal Minds. I'm not sure where to start and where to stop while reading this cringe-worthy book.

Kill List centers around a young female, Emilia, who is the pawn in a horrific sexual game. Emilia is left for dead after the game has concluded, but she makes a successful physical recovery. Mentally, however, Emilia is out for revenge. Kill List is a book that goes into great detail how Emilia, along with the help of her father, enacts revenge against her tormentors. Rather than going into detail about the level of this revenge, I will leave it to the reader to find out how this revenge plays out.

I will some up my review of Kill List with the warning that this book is not meant for the squeamish. Kill List is a graphically, step by step approach about exacting revenge against ones tormenters. The one solace I have taken away from this book is it is a work of fiction. I highly recommend Kill List.

A nail biting thriller, intense to the very end! Emilia's life forever changed when she is abducted and subjected to torture and abuse, then left for dead. As a result, she is an empty shell, hell bent on revenge, but will this game of revenge backfire? Will she find the peace she needs at the end?
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This first person narrative is compelling right from the start. The characters are vivid and I was invested in this story immediately. This is an exceptionally dark dive into the underworld of dark web sexual depravity and may not be for everyone. The author does a wonderful job with this exceptionally twisted story and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers.
