Sarah Ready is my new guilty pleasure, and I can’t get enough! I’m addicted to her charming and compelling characters, their witty dialog and the poignant storylines, and she had me grinning from the very first page! But do me a favor, and *don’t* plan an intervention. I want to wallow in the exquisite tide of emotions this story elicits a while longer.

Chloe Daniels believes to the bottom of her soul that soul mates exist. Living in small-town Romeo, NY, a place that's all about love, and having a psychic great aunt who matches up soul mates, it's easy to see why. Great-aunt Erma tells Chloe her soul mate is the first boy she kissed, and she has a week to find him. Chloe remembers the boy vividly – Matt Smith from summer camp. With such a common name, it'll be like finding a needle in a haystack, but Aunt Erma has enlisted the help of private investigator, Nick O'Shea.

Nick and Chloe have a history. As in young teens in love and things ended badly type of history. There's been nothing but animosity between them since, but when Erma dangles the one thing Nick wants, he agrees to help Chloe and they set off on a road trip across the country in search of the right Matt Smith.

There are some things that mix like oil and water and are as different as night and day. Chloe and Nick epitomize this. Chloe is sunny and optimistic and has the faith of Moses himself when it comes to fate and destiny. Nick is so cynical he only drinks black coffee so the cream and sugar can’t deceive him. Yes, this makes for highly entertaining reading, but then we see deep beneath the layers as these two learn more about each other and so much more about themselves.

Ready has made a place for herself on my list of bring-the-world-to-a-screeching-halt authors. As soon as her book hits my Kindle, the world as I know it ceases to exist and I escape into her delightful, touching, extraordinary book world. My apologies to the real life nitty gritty I shirked for a few hours.

If you haven’t read her work yet, you really need to remedy this STAT. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll feel and feel some more, and you'll love every single second you spend immersed in this story. With unforgettable characters and a humorous, heartfelt second chance, this will easily and unequivocally be one of your top reads this year!

Hikaye New York, Romeo da geçiyor.

2 stars for crazytown

An enemies-to-lovers roadtrip romance, this book sounded right up my alley, but what starts as a fun and funny story descended into crazytown, and I struggled to finish this one.

Hayley is a hopeless, almost fanatical, romantic who has mostly unrealistic ideals for romance and is desperate to find her soulmate. Following a prediction from her matchmaking aunt, she plans a journey across the country to find her soulmate – one of seven potential men - and she only has one week to find him.

Helping her along the way is her ex-boyfriend and compete cynic, Nick, who is the private investigator who has tracked the potentials down. Hayley and Nick have a completely antagonistic relationship, and travelling together for a week is bound to cause problems, but Hayley is desperate, and so off they go.

Nick rolls down his window and casually hangs his arm over the door.
“Come on, Sparky. The road’s waiting. Your future of abject disappointment and betrayal lies just around the next bend. Hop in.”
He. Is. Awful.

Nick’s views on love and his incessant teasing are so funny. Unbeknownst to Hayley, she was his first love, and he’s never gotten over her. But years of unrequited love have left him completely jaded. He’s in a tricky situation as he escorts that woman he still has feelings for across the country so that she can potentially find her soulmate, creating a great dynamic and setting the scene for the adventure to come.

“Poor, deluded Hayley,” I say.
“Poor, cynical Nick,” she purrs.

I started this book thinking it would be a fun, light and easy read, which it is. I love a bit of lighthearted and stupid humour, and at first, I was enjoying it, loving the chemistry and so keen to see how it was all going to play out. But as Hayley and Nick meet each of the men, it got progressively more ridiculous. The guys and the situations that Hayley and Nick find themselves in, go from the realm of ‘this is so outrageous, it’s funny’ to just entirely unbelievable and OTT, and the more crazy it got, the more disconnected I became from the story. Which is such a shame, because as their trip goes on, Hayley and Nick do start to find their common ground, and the feelings that they had for each other all those years ago flare back to life, and it’s funny, sweet and sexy, and I started to get back on board. But then right when they seemed to be getting themselves together, we get this infuriating back and forth that honestly had me wanting to just put my kindle down and forget about the two of them together at all.

I got so annoyed with Hayley and her obsession over finding her soulmate. This is a mature woman in her 30s, you would think she would have just a little bit of actual insight into love and relationships, rather than believing in vague predictions and dreaming of some Bollywood-style declaration of true love (seriously). And seeing how seriously she took it, how driven she was to commit her life to a complete stranger when she knows she’s in love with someone else, made me lose all respect for her. Honestly, Nick deserved better.

It was all a bit too much for me, I’m afraid. And despite the witty writing, this story just didn’t work for me.

2 stars – just ok.

I wanted to love this, but...well, the best laid plans of mice and men, right? I found the premise uninspired, the writing mediocre and the conclusion just plain cheesy.

Chloe’s Aunt Erma is a town legend—she has been able to bring together dozens of pairs of “soul mates” in her lifetime. Now it’s Chloe’s turn to benefit from her aunt’s unusual “ability” and finally meet the man for whom she was destined. Aunt Erma has spilled his identity, but not his geographical location, so Chloe and friend Nick travel cross country to track him down.

The recurring fantastical and over-written events that occur in every chapter tested my patience and caused me to step back after each and shake my head. Nick and Chloe drive from one disaster to the next, a journey that concludes with an over-the-top, completely implausible finale that will surprise exactly no one.

Gratuitous sex that adds nothing to the plot, shallow characters who tend to monosyllabically (?) communicate through a series of grunts and groans, and a far-fetched plot all combine to make this one a “better left on the shelf” choice for summer.

4.5 star review Chasing Romeo (Soul Mates in Romeo #1) by Sarah Ready
Sarah Ready is a new author to me. I found Chasing Romeo an entertaining, funny enemies to lovers story that ticked a lot of the boxes for me.
This is Chloe Daniels and Nick O’Shea’s, road trip story. When Chloe's psychic aunt Erma deems that the first man she kissed is her true love, Chloe is determined to find him, the only problem, there is only 7 days and she has to track down 1 of 7 men; enter Nick, a private investigator who is hired to help find “the one”.
I spent a lot of this book smiling and laughing reading Chasing Romeo. The characters are engaging and I found them easy to like. Chloe and Nick have history and it is not all good; that resentment has carried over into adulthood.
Chloe and Nick could not be more different and yet despite that, there is something that sizzles between them that makes it impossible to ignore. What happens when they cross that line? Will Chloe let go of her search and realize what is right in front of her? Will Nick decide to take a chance on love, something he has shied away from?
Their road trip was crazy, the situations they found themselves in humorous and all in all this made for a fun read.

A hoot with heart
5 stars

Sarah Ready is a new to me author but after reading this book, I suspect she will soon become a firm favourite of mine. I already can’t wait for the future books in this series [Soulmates in Romeo] - although this one stands alone with it’s own HEA.

The story starts off with a very grumpy, very angry Nick tied to a chair in the middle of Chloe’s birthday party. And while she’s happy that he’s not happy - she’s not very happy that he’s there either. This kicks off a story that I devoured from start to finish and it never once lulled or lost my interest.

Chloe is a die-hard romantic and determined to find her soul mate. Yet she’s not the sweet small-town girl that I think I expected. She’s was smart, sassy and gave Nick as good as she got. However, she also revealed an inner turmoil and a deep complexity to her character that made her ridiculously relatable. I adored her.

And Nick - well, he was my kind of hero with bells on. He’s grumpy, cynical and is so over Chloe and her infernal optimism. Even though he ultimately agrees to go on a cockamamy search for a soul-mate road-trip with the girl that drives him nuts. But it was in his quiet, sweeter moments, when he lets his emotions show, that I fell hard for Nick. I ached for him and so desperately wanted him to get what he’d always wanted.

Together, Nick and Chloe were divine. They bickered, argued, bantered and, throughout the road trip, ultimately grew closer and discovered themselves, each other and what they really wanted.

That road trip was something else, too - abso-freaking-lutely hilarious! Actually laugh out loud funny. I almost couldn’t continue reading - especially about Matt the Doctor - because it was too much. Yes, it was all kinds of silly and far-fetched but I loved every second of it. What an absolute hoot. If I don’t see this book made into a mad-cap romcom movie then I’m writing several strongly worded letters of complaint! Each situation outdid the last and yet it married well with the more tender - and at times sexy - moments in between each of the Matts.

In terms of those sexy moments - there were a couple and they were nicely naughty. Not very frequent but still a good bit of heat. I also think I’m right in saying that there’s not a jot of swearing in the book, in case that’s important to you.

As I mentioned, I whizzed through this book. The story was excellent and the writing was top-notch, too. First person, present tense from both Nick and Chloe’s perspectives, you’re right there in the action but still with that hint of not knowing how - or even if - it’s all going to turn out okay. But this is romance so of course it does. And delightfully so. I was laughing and smiling and clapping in happiness. This is definitely a 5-star read for me and one of my best of the year so far. I’ve subscribed to Ms Ready’s newsletter, followed her on all the socials and very much look forward to reading more from her.

What’s not to love about this hilarious and charming romantic comedy? The laughs are many, my friends!!

When a soulmate psychic cons a love cynic to accompany a hopeless romantic across the country to find her soulmate within a week, what could go wrong? Plenty!!!

In the past, no man has loved me for me, they’ve always left, but a soul mate, no matter your quirks, they stay. They love you. They don’t hurt you and they don’t leave.

Chloe Daniel is a successful card illustrator and designer and a diehard romantic. After all, she grew up in Romeo, New York, Official Town of Love, and her Great Aunt Erma is the town’s official Soul Mate Psychic. Everybody loves Chloe with her Disney-like beauty, warmth, and confidence, but Chloe feels like a fraud. On the inside, she’s unhappy and doesn’t trust herself anymore. Every man she thought was her soulmate has not loved her enough. That’s why she is going to take up Erma’s proposition to find her soulmate (the first person she kissed at summer camp). The only drawback is her ex-boyfriend, Nick O’Shea, love cynic extraordinaire who she has not seen in 10 years, has agreed to partner her on her mission.

Why do I feel like I’m leading a lamb to the slaughter? But if I don’t go along, she’ll do it by herself, and trouble follows her like a teenager with his first crush. I should know.

Nick O’Shea somehow forgot how obsessed Romeo, New York, was with love. All he wanted to do is get his private investigations business up and running and building a cabin in the woods to be left alone. But he has never said no to Erma with her sharp intellect and knowing gaze, and her promised gift if he found Chloe’s soulmate was his dream come through. Now he just has to get past his feelings for Chloe.

The chemistry is strong between Nick and Chloe as they battle their attraction while on a wild goose chase to find Chloe’s perfect man out of seven potential candidates including a cat enthusiast, a criminal, a proctologist with large fingers, a furry thief, an ax-wielding lumberjack, a paranoid, monster truck-driving nerd, and the real deal. My favorites incidents are Nick and the cat and Nick and the proctologist nicknamed The Cucumber. Serious giggling and snorting stuff!!! I must say after all he goes through to make Chloe happy, Nick is a good sport as he takes everything in stride. In my opinion, his moments of undignified humiliation are the big grand gestures that Chloe wants from her soulmate. As for Chloe, she’s a bit dense when it comes to the whole soulmate thing when she clearly has a man who has loved her for years right next to her the whole time. I understand her insecurities about her choices, but when he finally opens up to her and expresses his feelings, she should have just shut the whole thing down. Ah, love…it makes us do some weird shit. Yes, Nick does provide Chloe with her grand gesture and there is a HEA ending.

Overall, this is one of my favorite romantic comedies this year. It’s a hysterically funny cross-country ride in Nick’s vintage love car named Shelly meeting outrageous characters in the most memorable ways. I guarantee you will be laughing out loud and cheering for Nick and Chloe.

Thank you to Ms. Ready for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

This was a new to me author and I thoroughly enjoyed my first book by her. I found it a sweet, easy to read and charming story. An entertaining opposites attract, second chance, enemies to lovers tale. It is the first in the Soulmates In Romeo series, told in dual POV by Chloe Daniels and Nick O’Shea. The series is set in a small town called Romeo where everyone is obsessed with love.

Chloe is incurable romantic and totally believes in soul mates. She doesn’t understand how she has not be enough for the men in her life and decides as she has been unsuccessful finding ‘The One’, she will leave it up to her Aunt. Aunt Erma is a soul mate psychic with a 100% record for finding your soul mate and had already set her sights on Chloe as her next target to bring love and happiness to.

“Somewhere there’s someone who is good and kind and who will love me forever and never, ever hurt me.”

We first meet Nick tied to a chair at Chloe’s birthday party. This big, broody ex military man is very grumpy with his predicament. He is so cynical about love and soul mates because he was hurt in the past. He has now returned home to set up his Private Investigation business and try to have a peaceful life. It turns out that Chloe and Nick have history from when they were teenagers that didn’t end well and he then left for the Marines. She had only seen him once in ten years, which was eight months ago when Chloe was left at the altar on her weeding day and by some bizarre coincidence Nick was there.

Aunt Erma employs him to find the man who could be Chloe’s soul mate. He reluctantly agrees when she bribes him with an offer that can’t be refused. He investigates Erma’s advice, comes up with a list of men and plans a road trip for them with military precision. He can’t understand Chloe’s optimism and enthusiasm for their search across the country. She is determined to prove him wrong and found the love of her life, what she doesn’t realise is he could be sitting next to her the whole time!

“She needs her soul mate. And like she said...that’s not me.”

They banter and argue the whole journey but it makes them both consider what they want out of their lives and they discover things about each other they didn’t know. Their adventures are varied and hilarious while they track down the different possibilities for her. Over the days their animosity towards each other fades and their attraction rekindles. They find it gets harder to ignore the chemistry between them as they work through the list.

The star of this book to me is Shelly, she is absolutely wonderful and nearly brought me to tears at one point. She is pivotal to an epic stand out moment and will capture your heart as much as Nick and Chloe do.

I found their interactions with each other throughout the book amusing and laughed so much at what happened at each of the stops they made. I thought the list of soul mates cleverly diverse and provided great comedy plus a bit of suspense. It has a delightful conclusion to all the madness. I will definitely look into this authors other books now as this was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

4.5 Stars for Chasing Romeo ( Soul Mates in Romeo #1)
A new author and a great read means a win win for me. If you are looking for a funny yet emotional read look no further than Chasing Romeo by Sarah Ready.
Nick and Chloe take a road trip so she can find her soulmate, her psychic aunt predicted the first man she kisses will be the love of her life and neither of them expected to find true love with each other.
Nick is hired by her aunt to find the man of Chloe’s dreams and that means traveling across the US to catch up with seven men and any of them could be “ the one” .....
These two start of as enemies but soon become lovers as they embark on a crazy road trip. This may be my first read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last because Chasing Romeo us everything I want in a great read, I laughed, I giggled and I swooned.
Looking forward to reading more by the talented Ms Ready.

Steam Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 (very descriptive sex scenes)

Chloe Daniels has always dreamed of finding her soulmate and living happily ever after. And lucky for her, she has a soulmate psychic for a Great Aunt. On Chloe's birthday her Great Aunt Erma reveals that the first boy Chloe kissed is her soulmate. The only catch? She has a week to find him and has to get help from her ex-boyfriend Nick O'Shea. Thanks to his private investigator resources, Chloe's soulmate has been narrowed down to 1 of 6 men. Now they're on a cross-country road trip to find out which one is the right match. But along the way old feelings resurface, and Chloe is torn between Nick and her soulmate. Can she really dismiss her Great Aunt's perfect record of matching couples just to be with a cynic like Nick?

After reading and absolutely loving books 5 & 6, I was excited to see how the Soulmates in Romeo series got started. We get a little bit of background into Erma's soulmate psychic abilities and a brief introduction to the romance loving town of Romeo, New York. From the first chapter I was loving the grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Nick and Chloe. He's a true love cynic, and she's obsessed with romance and her Great Aunt's ability to find everyone's perfect match. Of course the road trip provided lots of great forced proximity moments, and we even got some moments with only one bed for these two to share. I did find the situations they encountered with each potential soulmate to be a bit too over the top and outlandish, but it definitely provided for some entertainment. And while the conflict frustrated me a bit, I liked how Nick and Chloe were forced to take some time to confirm their feelings before the big grand gesture at the end. I still consider Sarah Ready to be one of my favorites and am eager to continue catching up on the rest of the series.

OMW - A new to me author but one I hope to read more of soon! This romp is a perfect blend of mayhem, romance, and outright laughter.

Chloe has finally realised she sucks at picking men. She's been cheated on, abandoned and dumped one too many times. Now she is putting her future in the hands of her gifted auntie. She has a gift at matching partners so when she tells Chloe her partner is her first kiss, Chloe is hellbent on tracking him down. Pity her first kiss was at summer camp and she barely remembers more than the boys name! But with the candidates whittled down, she is determined to find her "one".
The only fly in the ointment - Nick!

Nick is one of those mistakes of Chloe - although he may have got a bad rap! But now a PI, he is determined to make sure that Chloe at least stays safe on her journey. So he'll accompany her on her wild goose chase. Even if it's only to pick up the pieces when her romance-loving little heart gets broken by each and every Matt Smith she finds!

Nick and Chloe are just so opposite. He's dark and jaded and she is sunshine and rainbows! The forced proximity and shared history are just asking for some rekindling of memories but Nick wasn't her first kiss and she won't give up on her ideal. Nick has layers upon layers and the grump is hiding a heart of gold!

Get ready to laugh, cry, shout obscenities and cheer for the weirdness of Romeo!

Ok, so what is more cliche than looking for UFOs in Rosewell New Mexico?? Looking for Love in Romeo, NY!!
In the past, I have shied away from giving rom-coms 5stars. Yes, there are exceptions....read my review profile. BUT I feel rom-coms often cash in on stereotypes and inventing towns....BUT outside of a 1000 pizza places named Romeo. Romeo, NY does exist. So since Romeo, NY does exist let's read and follow, CHLOE, as she and a private eye...who may or may not be all that trust-worthy...look for WHO we think is Chloe's soul-mate, Matt Smith.
Let's be honest, she might have better luck if her would mate was named John Doe.
What follows is fun and quirky convos combined with great character detail.
What a great rom-com, or chick-flick, really tells us ??? It is OK to not want to be alone and we are ALL Imperfect and finding love can be a little messy and funny.
I discover Sarah Ready through social media and I am so happy I did, her books/stories have been a great antidote to the crazy times we find ourselves in.

Chasing Romeo was a quick rom-com that made for easy reading, hooking me right away and ensuring I devoured it in a single sitting. Although I enjoyed this one, I didn’t quite love it as much as I had hoped. However, I can certainly see many falling deeply for this story.

Chasing Romeo is a fast-paced read, with events hitting hard and without giving you a moment to breathe between. It hooks right away, and sucks you in deep, ensuring you cannot let up until you’ve seen how everything comes together. With plenty of events that will have you laughing, the story guarantees you’ll be eager for all the details. Although the story was a lot of fun, this was a little too light and easy for me. I smiled and laughed, but I would have liked a bit more depth and a little less of the over-the-top.

Although not quite to my taste, it was certainly an enjoyable quick read.

OMG! If you like books that make you laugh to the point people look at you funny then this is the book for you! The shenanigans that these characters have while trying to find a soulmate are just this side of ridiculous. That being said, Sarah Ready has written a charming story that will make you laugh, but it is also going to make you fall for Nick and Chloe, it’s going to have you turning pages just to find out what could possibly happen next!

This isn’t a long read, it’s the perfect read for the weekend! Just be careful because if you read it in public you are going to get some looks, because you will not be able to stop yourself from laughing out loud!

Fantastic! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie book Blog. This is my first time reading a book from Sarah Ready. Chasing Romeo is the first book in the Soul Mates in Romeo series. This is Nick and Chloe's story. Chloe is an over-the-top romantic while Nick is a deep cynic of love. They find themselves on a weeklong road trip to find Chloe's soul mate. Nick and Chloe had sizzling chemistry. Chasing Romeo kicks off a new series. I couldn't put this book down. I'm so ready for the next book to come out ALREADY!! Definitely won’t be my last! If you love to have a really good laugh out loud funny book this is the book for you! Keep up the great work!

They find themselves on a week long road trip to find Chloe's soul mate.

This book kicks off a new series and I can tell you I want more right now! I couldn't put this book down. I woke at 3 am to read because I just wanted to know what happened next on their crazy adventure. Nick and Chloe go on a wild ride in this one. I couldn't believe the situations they found themselves in. It sure made for some great comedic entertainment that's for sure. Nick and Chloe are not big fans of one another and they have some history. They find themselves on a week long road trip to find Chloe's soul mate. These two stuck in a car for a week is going to be quite interesting. It was fun watching them pretend feelings are no longer there, but as they spend their week together it's going to cast a light on a lot things they didn't see coming. I can't recommend this book enough. I mean the opening scene had me laughing and hooked. This book is the perfect read to get away from life a bit. It got my mind off everything and had me laughing from start to finish.

My first Sarah Ready book and I'm ready for the next. I loved its fun loving characters and brooding male lead, it's sweet retirement community and it's resident psychic Chloe's Great Aunt Erma. She was absolutely one of my favorite characters in the book right from the beginning, she's got some pretty smooth moves!
The story though centers around Chloe's quest to find Matt Smith as Erma has said he is her soulmate. Erma is never mistaken about these things! And Nick O'Shea an old flame now a P.I. has been tasked by Erma to help Chloe find Matt Smith.
7 days, 7 Matt Smith's, a hopeless romantic, and a brooding cynic on a road trip of epic hilarity in a car that holds memories full of young love and teenage longing.
What could go wrong especially when you start from a town known for romance like Romeo, NY.
You'll laugh, you'll swoon and you will hopefully enjoy it as much as I did.

I received this as an arc for my honest review

This was a great rom com. This is Sarah Ready’s third book and I have read them all with great enthusiasm. I would say she is one of my favorite authors of this genre.

This book was such a fun story about finding your soulmate. Nick doesn’t believe in soulmates and Chloe really does. They were together when they were younger and now Nick has promised her aunt that he will help Chloe find her soulmate. It’s a super fun journey. And I really loved the story.

Loved Loved Loved!! This was so much fun, I read through it in a day!! I could not put it down!! It was not your average story...two exes, Chloe & Nick, on the road to find her soul mate, someone she hadn’t seen in decades since camp when they were nine. Just a name to go by, Matt Smith. A very common name lol. So off they go, from one end of the country to another, meeting one interesting Matt Smith after another. The antics that follow are beyond entertaining, the banter between Nick and Chloe are both funny & heart-warming, and the whole time you just hope she opens hers eyes and gets it!! This is my first book by this author, but definitely won’t be my last!

Funny, humorous, sweet, sometimes a bit over the top and sometimes a bit predictable. A well-running story, catchy writing style.
After 10 years, Nick is back in Romeo and immediately ends up in a precarious situation. Chloe enjoys her birthday despite or thanks to Nick who is among the presents. Original beginning.
Chloe and Nick do not have very good memories of each other, yet Nick is forced to assist Chloe in her search for her soul mate. They end up in hilarious situations and both find their soul mates in the end.

This is a laugh out loud romantic comedy that needs to be on your reading list. Who doesn’t want to find their soul mate? With each page turn you never know what to expect with these characters and I enjoyed every minute of their journey. Nick and Shelly are the epitome of slow burn and you do not want to miss what happens with these two. If this is not already on your list l, make sure you add it. I look forward to reading more by this author.
