Grace is desperate for a change after her son’s father, Liam, dies in a tragic accident. When Liam's overbearing parents cross the line from controlling to downright insane, Grace and her son, Josh, escape their scrutinized existence and settle into a small town. But her newfound peace is shattered when increasingly sinister messages land on her doorstep. Even Shawn—her sexy landlord and former Navy SEAL—fears what’s next. He’s everything she’s ever wanted and more, and she dares to hope for a happily ever after. But as the threats get more and more frightening, even Shawn and his military brothers might not be enough to save her.
Ms. Ember, I love this new direction you began with Stoker's Aces! Shawn and Grace , and Josh, were absolutely fun! I loved the interactions between all characters, Shawn and Grace's story didn't go as expected, nicely twisted , but Declan, Beau, and Jalen were such amazing secondary characters, as well as the whole gang of Shawn's friends! I can't wait for Beau's novel, or Declan's, and Kalen ... And, you get the picture! So excited with this new Stoker's Aces series... Sooooooo .... NEXT ... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was ok to fill in a bit of time but I wouldn’t try to read the rest of the series. A few spelling mistakes, tuk instead of truck, sentences that don’t quite make sense. Sex scenes are boring!!!! A few unanswered questions. Where are her family, has she got any siblings, where are his family.
The worst thing about this book is how fast they jump into a relationship as she has a five year old son. She didn’t know anything about him hardly before he’s sleeping at her house!!! He could have been a paedophile . I’m sorry but she’s a rubbish mother!!!
3.5 stars.... this book did not grab me like so many of the other operation alpha series have.
Grace and her son Josh move to a small town where they meet their landlord Shawn. Its a nice story but for me slightly disjointed and I had to go back a couple of times to work out who was saying or doing what ... Fish and Bryn were minor characters and seemed to be thrown in their because they could be and did not really do much in the scheme of things.
Absolutely loved this story. Shawn has built his company Rebel Construction after leaving the military. He also has rental properties. Grace and her son Josh are moving to a bew town for a fresh start. She will be renting from Shawn. There is an instant attraction between Shawn and Grace and he is amazing with Josh. Some horrible things have been showing up on Grace's front door and this last one has her calling the police. Can they find who is leaving these things for her before she is hurt? Will her and Shawn find happiness?
This was just too predictable. I knew immediately who the supposed bad guy was. Plus the stuff with the kids grandparents didn’t really pan out for me. I also didn’t like how she said that she wasn’t married to Liam but referred to his parents as in laws. I may have tried other books but how the last chapter of this one just leads to a new book that 2 years later isn’t even mentioned? Yeah I don’t think I’ll try anything else.

Shawn met Grace when she rented a house from him. Grace's son Josh was there too and Shawn took an instant liking to both of them. When the truck with her furniture arrived Shawn and his whole crew were there to help unload. Grace was also having trouble dealing with her feelings for Shawn.
Shielding Grace: Amazing writing and dialog! Fantastic characters. I liked how Shawn but it of so well with Grace and Josh. I liked how he welcomed them to town. I liked how he's brothers in arms work well together and would do anything for anyone. I love how protective of their own they are. I really enjoyed their story!
I really enjoyed this one, I've been getting a lot of duds lately so this was a pleasant surprise to get a good one, from a Facebook ad. Strong characters that weren't OTT and an h that wasn't annoying and obnoxious with her independence. The plot device with her son's father was a big farfetched but it wasn't a big deal overall.
Loved Shawn, Grace and Josh! They had a great dynamic, and Josh was just a precious kid. His ability to make friends with anyone and bounce back from tough situations makes him seem much older than his 5 years young. I loved his interactions with Declan and the other guys, treating Josh like he was just one of the guys. Hope to see stories on all of Shawn’s friends.
Shielding Grace is by Sarah Stone. The arrangements were made for Grace and Liam to live here and work. She was trying to raise her son, Liam, as a normal child, not a multimillionaire as well. She wanted him to grow up having had a normal childhood. Her in-laws wanted to take him and raise him like her husband had been. He didn't want that for his son and had reminded herself of this several times before his death,
I loved this book, Shawn, Grace and Josh were a force to be held. Drama, slowing burning sheets, and a brotherhood, add in Fish and Bryn, a recipe for a winning success. Ms Stone is a new to me author, whom I’ll now be stalking, but only in a good way while I await her next instalment in this series.
Like, I didn't want it to end. Damn, I knew it was a military romantic suspense, but forgot as I read about the construction business. The plot was smooth, average, meaning pretty obvious. But the characters were well developed , and so realistic. I loved the twist about Josh's father. That was inventive and original. Great series start. Buy the book.
This is such a sweet story and it truly had now full moments in it and no frustrating behaviors by the characters! It introduces so many amazing characters that I cannot wait for the rest of the series!!!!
Great book. Good storyline. There are a few spelling errors and a few sentences that are not right but otherwise all is good. Can not wait to read zoeys story. As always keep writing and I will keep reading. Thank you.
I LOVED Everything about this book. It came up in one of my author groups on Facebook, and I am so excited it did. This is my 1st book by this author but I am looking forward to buying more.
This is my first book from this author. It popped up on my fb feed so I thought I would check it out. Absolutely love it . Hadn't even finished it yet before I went and purchased her other books and am looking forward to the other books in this series.
I loved every page. Grace, Shawn and Josh were awesome separately and together. Add in their friends, colleagues and partners and the story is kicked up a notch. Looking forward to all the stories of Alpha.
Another new author to add to my list and to read that is was Fish and Bryn that was the characters in this story loved it would recommend this book to read.
Grace and her son,Josh recently moved into one of Shane's rentals when dead birds appear outside her front door. Shawn is definitely falling for Grace.
