I’m the outcast who dared to bond with the Alpha’s sons. Not on purpose, of course.
I knew better than to think a motherless, fatherless, half-wolf would ever be welcomed within their ranks. What I also knew was that I’d be punished. A lashing, five days on my knees, no food or water, something like that.
Boy was I wrong.
The alpha insisted our bond be rejected. This was old world magic. Dark magic. Strong magic. And yet, it didn’t work.
We all knew I was nothing like them. A mut. Half wolf. Half unknown. But what we didn’t know was that when they put death on the table, the unknown half would be the one to save my life. Because sometimes the unknown is stronger than a thousand men. Stronger than magic. Stronger than death.
What exactly was I suppose to feel after reading this book? The whole "rejected" theme has a point of transitioning from a bad to a better scenario whether it's with a new guy or the same guy who "rejects". This book only goes from worse to worse.
The only positive about this book is that it tries to have some interesting world building with supernatural element involved. It tries to use that to add some sense of history and backstory. The key word being tries because every time the book wants to limit itself from being an info dump it will clamp up saying it's a story for another time through whichever character is giving the info. Honestly there is only bread crumbs of things explained or revealed to build on curiosity or mystery but it comes at the cost of barely having anything.
For a first book, this doesn't give enough. As a reader, I have to do a lot of work to fill in this huge gaping holes of blankness to give it a sense of a story. The characters are so paper thin, I don't know how can you get anything from these interactions. The wolves who Virga bonded in the beginning, I have absolutely no content for these guys and I doubt they even matter to the story? Next comes Tueur, dude is this one supposed to be the "better" choice? They had no chemistry beyond Virga's physical reaction to him, seriously attraction doesn't make up for not showcasing literally any nice interaction with potential LI! I absolutely fail to understand how am I as a reader to see Tueur in a positive light when his actions/words are always negative towards the FMC Every scene till the disaster of last chapter repelled me from this guy.
The FMC was so weak, she may be a snowflake with her uniqueness but she has nothing to hold her own in this story. She has no power over anything happening to her and this continues throughout the whole book to that absolutely useless ending chapters which completely ruins any potential from this character.
I get that it's a series, but I have gotten nothing positive from anything to feel anything good. Just how much is a cliffhanger useful if there isn't enough in-depth story telling, a POV through which a reader only gets helplessness and a romance that only hinges on physical attraction? Yeah, I can live without knowing what happens next for the amount of dissatisfaction this reading session left me with.
It started out great but when Virga got rescued by Tauer it deteriorates quickly. It reminds me of another book I've read q week ago, I didn't mind it very much but the fmc inner dialogue about every single thing and unnecessary things bored me to sleep. Anyway I didn't Liked Tauer being a jerk to Virga omg come on twice she got rejected it's ridiculous. Oh and when Virga supposed to kicked the asshole Alpha's ass but she froze oh geeze she is a half demon with incredible powers and she freeze and just stand there well except the end when she saved Azazel.
Loved this story. Virga has had a real tough life along with her parents. I was cheering Virga on as she dealt with the bullies that she has had to deal with all her life. Of course Tueur the half angel isn't any better at times than the two wolves that tried mating with Virga.
I would have given this book a 5 star but its a cliffhangers and there was no warning that it was a cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers and feel that there should be warnings incase someone wants to wait for the other books before reading.
First of all this needs to be proofread properly. Secondly, I just recently read a similar story where the h was mistreated by her pack, rejected by her intended mate and saved by another being from another realm (a half-angel in this book and a were-god in the other book I read)!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I'll be honest I did like the storyline, but OMG get a proofreader!!! I stopped counting at 7 the number of time the word reflex was used instead of highlight in reference to hair. Who has blue reflexes in their hair? I just got more and more distracted by things like that, but I pushed through until the end. I would have appreciated more world building and background. Some came through as the story unfolded, but I left the story feeling like there was so much more needed.
Overall a good read and I will probably get the next book. But until it comes out I will keep hoping that these 2 authors break down and get a proofreader or editor. Even an ARC reader probably would have caught 95% of the errors.
What can I say about this book??? -thinking face- It was honestly disappointing. I honestly almost didn’t finish this book solely because of the FMC. She just screamed pathetic in my opinion. Hmm maybe I am biased because I do tend to favour books with strong female leads. She had the potential but fell miserably short.
The plot itself was captivating and I truly enjoyed how the author took the time to develop the main characters.
Dnf @54%. This story is messy. No world building or in-depth understanding of literally anything. Things happening in this book are pretty much just dropped out of no where. I'm not sure how this even had high ratings. Even the story doesn't completely flow right. It's definitely some harsh writing skills.
I read a lot of the reviews before I decided to read the book. While I didn’t hate it as much as a lot of the reviewers, I didn’t love it either.
Virga, our heroine, is living a pretty heartbreaking existence. She is a slave in her pack and not treat well at all, although she does have 2 parents that love her. She’s actually their adopted daughter, as they found her abandoned near a river. On the night of her first shift, she becomes bonded to the alpha’s two sons, Alfons and Merle, but the alpha is having none of it. He throws her in the dungeon and hires a witch to come and break their bond. She’s devastated to learn this and of the murder of her father at the same time. Seriously, this poor girl is abandoned by everyone except her mother. She is rescued by an angel, Tueur, who also treats her coldly. He’s not abusive, but he’s definitely a cold hearted asshole. They find out they they have a soul bond, and he wants to break it telling her that she makes him weak and he has no place in his life for a partner. Poor girl, twice rejected!
Anyway, the storyline is very interesting. I just think the execution could have been better. I get tired of all the partial explanations that leave the reader with all kinds of questions and no resolutions. I mean, this is the first book of the series, so perhaps more explanations will appear in subsequent books. But here’s the thing . . . If you wait too long, I’m not going to be invested enough to continue reading. Already, I feel no affection at all towards her soul mate, Tueuer. If I read things correctly, that is who she’s going to end up with and I already don’t like him. How you gonna turn that around? There’s also a lot of editing errors that really should get cleaned up. And finally . . . this kind of a nit, but it bugs the hell out of me . . . The heroine is described as having silver white hair with blue streaks and sapphire blue eyes. Why the hell is she a redhead on the cover? I hate when publishers do that.
The book does end on a cliffhanger. I hope the series gets better, because I do like the storyline. Although my recommendation comes with a caveat . . . Put it on your “to read” list, but if you have other books that you’re dying to get to, read those first. If you’re just looking for something to read, then give this a shot.
Problem # 1. The typos. There were so many. It was ridiculous. Putting her instead of he, them instead of the. A simple reread would have found most of those mistakes.
Problem # 2. I did not like the MC (or rather how she was written). Behavioral aspects did not add up. For all that she’s been through, you’d think she wouldn’t be so trusting… but she is. There is a fine line between trying to make your character naïve but not stupid. Rose made the MC stupid. For example,
And for that, I can't continue with the rest of the series. It was an interesting concept but just wasn’t written very well. That second star is for the concept alone.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I went into this novel with no expectations, especially after reading all the varying reviews. I couldn't help but try to understand what the issues were, from my own perspective.
Pro's: I enjoyed the storyline. It was rather interesting with the uniqueness of the main characters. The different planes of the world and the supporting characters made the overall story that much more. You can feel the animosity, anger, disappointment and hatred in the scenes. Basically, the author(s) did a good job at bringing out the feels/emotions. It's not 100% perfect but when the authors can make me want to wring someone's neck, repeatedly, that's good enough for me. The authors did keep the main female characters species mysterious till about mid way through. Now I do feel sad for Merl. His twin Alfons was a coward and a selfish entitled prick.
Con's: It does need a good read through and edits. The dialogue between characters were painful to get through half of the time. I'm sorry but I did cringe every time the mother said "my darling". The book did lack world and character building. I don't want to read pages and pages of descriptions just to learn that the character wore "red" but some descriptions would have been nice.
I'm sure that I've missed some more points in the pro's and con's paragraphs but I'm also sure it doesn't really matter at this point in the review.
I am looking forward to reading the installment (book two) and hope there's been much improvement from this first book.
This was a captivating book, and it was written well. However, I didn’t really connect with the characters.
First, I wasn’t sure if this was RH because I almost thought it would be. Then the beginning action happens and only one of the twins is worthy, and he’s still not doing enough to save her. Ok, those bonds break and she’s taken away.
Then we meet Tueur (how do you actually pronounce this?) and she has insane physical attraction to him. But, they barely interact and anytime they do he’s really rude. Then come to find out at the end that he didn’t tell her his true plan? And he wants to reject the soul mate bond. So is he the one that is rejecting her? Or was it Merl and Alfons? She’s been rejected so much, so like?? Honestly, but Tueur’s actions at the end I found him really irredeemable. No idea why I should root for him.
And as for Virga, there’s times I liked her and times I really didn’t. I understand the bond is strong but I hateeeee when FMC let their lust and bodies “betray” them. And that happened a few times. Tueur was so mean to her and she almost always kept going back and getting humiliated. At this point I hope that she finds a way to break the bond and be free by herself lol.
‘Rejected Wolf’ is book one in the co-authored series Virga’s Doom by Savannah Rose and Amelia Gates.
Virga is a slave in her pack, the lowest of the lowest. Her and her adopted parents are owned by the pack to do as they wish. On her first night to shift into her Wolf she is bonded with the Alpha’s sons, which is a crime in the Alpha’s eye. Being a slave means she is a mutt and not worthy to be bonded to the future Alpha and Beta. Fuming the alpha must figure out how to set his sons free even if it means that Virga must die. But Virga is not just a Wolf she is half something else and with death in her future her other half must awaken she is to survive.
New to me authors, I was recommended this book through Goodreads and I was intrigued by the synopsis. What I wasn’t aware of at the time that book two hasn’t been released yet... now I’m sitting here stewing over what is going to happen next after that cliffhanger.
I was hooked from the first word to the end, I read this book in one sitting. I am looking forward to reading book two when it comes out. Can’t wait to see what is in store for Virga, Tueur, Alfons and Merl.
Why are so many authors following the fad of weak, rejected, and abused women by the worst of men (supernaturals in this case) and botching it epically? Why is there ALWAYS more than enough abusive and/or misogynistic males to go around in each story? I'll understand if it's just art imitating life. I do know the cookie-cutter stories are coming fast and furious, with plot holes galore. This book jumps from scene to scene as if it's writing itself and the author is interfering ...or vice versa. The story doesn't flow and drags at the same time. How? Has to be a talent. Keeping up with the sudden shifts from scene to scene and staying awake when the story starts to lag in one spot too long is a mental workout. Worse, characters literally fly, float, you name it out of nowhere but refuse to speak. Just why?? No one, not even the author bothers to introduce the new beings for the readers' sake. You're just have to wait until the author or the story itself, whoever is writing figures it out. Book 1 does do cliffhanger really well though, so 3 stars for that.
I think the cover is gorgeous. I think the idea of this is sound. But there a lot of errors I initially had no issues highlighting but I stopped after chapter thirteen, highlighting only things blatantly obvious in my skimmings. She complains a lot. And refers to her slave status a lot. And thinks about how she’s been screwed over a LOT. And it only seems like so much because this entire book is about her getting hurt with her pack and tortured in isolation, then getting stuck in a castle. It’s only towards the end with hunting that anything gets interesting again. And that’s a shame. I wouldn’t continue if I had to buy these but since they’re part of the KU subscription, I’m tempted enough to read the next book because I hate not knowing. Otherwise, I probably would’ve written this up and moved on with sour feelings.
I was so disappointed with this book. When it ended with a cliffhanger, I was almost tempted to grab the next book in the series but there were so many editing errors that it made it a bit difficult to read. There was missing punctuation, wrong words so I had to re-read and figure out the proper word to put in place. In the beginning of the book there are 2 black wolves, Marcus & Shadow. Later in the book their names change to Marcus & Shade. The premise of the book itself was good. A aristocrat alpha brings back slavery into his wolf community, which was previously abolished. On the first shift of the older children, his 2 sons bond with a slave girl. She is imprisoned & killed. Her true mate, a hybrid Angel hears her screams & rescues her. I am going to skip the next book. Going forward, I hope the authors choose a better editor.

Rejected Wolf, book 1 of the Virga's Doom series, is an ebook I downloaded from Kindle Unlimited.
This story had a lot of surprises, unfortunately, they seem to take the plot further off-point and just added more complexity without going into detail with what had already been going on. I felt buried in plot changes that never really resolved . And what's with this ending? I have no hope for the fmc, Virga. She goes from one tragedy to another without catching a break.
Some minor edit issues like thing/think and years/yearns could be cleared up with another proofread. Excellent premise for a story, but it needs more clarity in world-building and better segues in the action.
They just don't know how to write properly. This book is all over the place, from insta love with characters that show little development, too convenient plot devices and so many spelling and grammatical errors and incorrect words that it was infuriating.
This should absolutely not be for sale, and people should demand their money back if they paid for it.
As a way to kill time on KU it was OK. A decent enough story.
But bear in mind the main character has silver white hair with blue streaks and the cover shows a redhead, that's about as much effort as they've put into the book too.
From what I already read it was leading down that way and I just don’t care for them. The storyline of her being half-wolf and something else was interesting. After reading about two males bonding with her as her mates I stopped to go see if this is a reverse harem. What I found was a lot of dissatisfaction from fellow readers in regards to spelling and grammar and how both authors don’t seem to be in sync with each other in terms of writing the storyline. Therefore, I will not be finishing it.
Virga, a slave girl, accidentally gets bonded to the Alpha's two sons on their first shift. However, it is not her fault they initiated the bond, and cowardly bowed when their father came to pass judgment upon our main character. These crazy shifters have slaves in their pack! On so many levels, this is ridiculous, and yet I cannot put the book down. Holy moly! There are various dynamics in the world-building is wonderfully constructed. I can see why the author broke this down into separate books.
3.5 stars for Rejected Wolf by Savannah Rose and Amelia Gates. This is book one in the Virga’s Doom series. This book started off with a bang. Virga has had an extremely rough life and it is not about to get any easier. After she is forced to reject her mates the Alpha’s sons, she is saved by Tauer, but he doesn’t treat her any better. I wanted to see Virga come into her own, but she doesn’t really. I think this book was worth reading and I think this series can be great. This book just lacked a little bit of umph for me. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Found by the river as a baby, by her adopted parents. Raised to be a slave. This book is passionate, sorrow, hunting, angry, death, and lose. This book was so GOOD I read it fast. Can't wait for the next book to be out. This series will keep me going, may even have some marathon reading. Where I will them over again. That is the fun part, I like re-reading good books.
This really sounded like it could be a story I could get into. Sadly the way it was written made it less desirable and I ended up not being able to finish. It is a good start for an idea, but the strength to pull you in and hold your interest? It just wasn't there for me.
Perhaps a later story would be something I can try out from this author. There are some good ideas here, I just feel they were portrayed well.
Unconventional enough to keep my interest, but... with some major drawbacks. If you love the English language, prepare for some low-grade torture. It seems like the author may have been writing with a thesaurus at her side. In many instances, it was evident that the author did not understand the actual meaning of the words she used. There were also problems with homonyms. But that would be minor if the story was more compelling.
Don't judge this book by the cover - cuz it's probably for a different book!!
Spoiler alert! The main character Burns does not have red hair or wings as the cover suggests!! Did the authors not check with each other on what the characters would look like! Horrible writing, soooo many grammatical errors and misspellings. No real plot! It was all over the place! Oh and the main character is a nymphomaniac! Note to authors - Rewrite and do better!!
WoW! Bonne lecture!
To be honest i was going to give this three stars as it was a bit slow going for me, but the ending (although a cliff hanger) was exciting enough to bump it up.
This book is terribly edited, so if spelling mistakes and occasional wrong name spellings annoy you, i suggest you don't read it. If you are able to see past those sorts of things it's a pretty good story.
I really enjoyed this book for the most part. The fmc kept getting screwed over n over again. It was hard to keep reading in some parts hoping that she would grow a backbone. Otherwise, the storyline was awesome. Kept me on the edge of my seat almost the entire book! Can’t wait to read the next one. I sure hope she finally loses it on all those who use her as bait.
The story would have been great had more time been spent developing the fantasy realm. The dialogue is jerky and I’m interesting. The story has potential but needs a lot of work. The ending was more like a chapter ending than the ending of a book, very abrupt.
