The author has a real talent for increasing the tension and raising the stakes in each chapter, with each entry somehow outdoing the last in terms of darkness and taking the protagonist to his lowest points. This entry started with Connor/Cody in the toughest spot yet. He must break and train Leo in 3 days or his brother will be kidnapped and Connor will be forced to train and groom him himself. Connor’s nightmare sequences are getting darker and more twisted. It was interesting seeing how far Cody has come and how he’s learned to play the different personalities in this world to his advantage. I liked how Leo and Cody became close despite their situation. Every mention of Jake pulled at my heartstrings. The ending of this entry was interesting and I’m curious to see how the story unfolds in the next chapter.

Cody will do whatever it takes to survive

I like that Cody doesn't ever lose his sense of justice despite everything that he's been subjected to. He knows what he has to do to survive in this world, but he doesn't let the temptation to give in to the corruption around him overwhelm his sense of what is just wrong. This is actually completely opposite of what I had anticipated from this series, but I'm loving it.

I can't wait to see how things will end up for Cody and all of the boys on the island.

a breath of fresh air (for the readers, not the characters)! finally out of the stream of repetitive, aimless non-con, we delve into cody developing a consensual relationship to save his brother. stubborn leo was a good pairing up, eliciting conflicted feelings on cody about guilt, power, morals, care, and what he felt for jake, bringing novelty to the story. cody is finally set up on his violent goals as well.

i still think that the story was at its best when we had nick and jake interacting more with cody, but this instalment was enjoyable enough.

The author keeps twisting and turning the story every chapter, and somehow keeps topping himself. Now Cody has a new victim and he must become the trainer-but is he just training this boy, or is there something more going on? Cody's narrative voice continues to evolve as he shows a real manipulative streak. As usual, can't wait for the next installment.

Just keeps getting crazier

Cody has to train the Aussie or risk the boss kidnapping his little brother. Will it be enough or will he finally have an ally to take the boss out? Hopefully we’ll find out in the next book!
