I read this book in preparation for our Road Scholar trip to the Southwest, as recommended by the guides--it is one of 7 books on the suggested reading list. It is a fact filled book with a lot of information about the history of the Grand Canyon region. The information about the number of people and entities staking claims and establishing businesses to benefit from the natural wonder that is the Grand Canyon was amazing and interesting. The fault in this book lies in the way the information is conveyed--not in an engaging and reader-friendly manner. Still the book is extremely useful for providing little known information about the Grand Canyon.
