Sylvan is such a cool character! I love this world- and I really think Jesse Bond has nailed the multi-character romance here. I cannot wait to see where this series goes- I'm in!

Just finished reading this epic tale of a young woman who discovers secrets about her past as she learns how to deal with her future. I love the landscape this story resides in. The characters are well fleshed out with strong personalities that grab your attention. The different races/creatures are well defined and interesting in their interactions with each other. The conflicts and love scenes are captivating. I've never been an Urban Fantasy kinda reader, but Sylvan Captured has changed my mind. I'm anxiously awaiting the next edition of the series. One issue in the book is some editing comments made it into it at release. I contacted the author, and they were on it fixing them. I'm still giving it 5 stars, even with the editing snafu because I really like the story, and the author was very nice and willing to provide me with a fresh copy as soon as it is re-released. The story is so good. I can't wait, and I'm ordering a paperback version of the new release for my bookshelf.

Well well, wasn't this little gem a surprise. There were a few glaring edit mistakes, but I flew right past them, and really enjoyed this story. I've read other books by Jesse Bond, and although all of them are good reads, this one really shines. The characters are new and fresh, There were some surprises along the way that kept me guessing. All in all, I've been 'Captured'.

Dark, Paranormal, and Urban Fantasy Growing Harem

Four Stars - Looking forward to seeing where this story goes in book 2!
I found parts of this book to be considered taboo. First, the main character Syl's love interests/harem are growly, possessive half-brothers. Second, Syl makes decisions in the past and in this story that wouldn't fit in a real world setting as moral; though they fit for the dark city the author has created. Both stated, the MC is brash, raw, and untrusting, something I hope to see her grow out of in the following books. She has a deep need to care for those around her, but doesn't always make the best choices in achieving it, giving her depth and room for growth.
As an urban fantasy, Sylvan Captured takes place inside the massive city of Cymoid.
The main character grew up on the streets, moving from back alley to alley; food was scarce and the decisions she had to make to survive were questionable. Despite being an orphan, and as such, hunted by the demon rulers of the paranormal inhabited city, Sylvan finds friendship with other less fortunate, magicless orphans like herself; Nick and Calli.
The book starts with Syl and Nick tracking down their missing friend, only to be captured themselves. Syl's fights against her morals (which are questionable to begin with), with her captors who are both fixated on her. Her quick temper, foul mouth, and natural attraction to her growly captors give her trouble along the way as she continues her mission to find her missing friend.
Just when she thinks she's going to find some answers, nature, quite literally, happens. Syl might have thought she was magicless, but just like Nick, they discover there is more to them than expected.
Luckily, she placed her trust in one of the brothers, Hail, who sees her through her first transition into one of the last female dragons shifters, and their long lost fated mate. By the end, Syl is learning all over who she has become, opening her heart to her first mate, and finally trying to give the second brother, a dominating yet confusing Ty, a chance while joining a cause for justice.
There is a cliff hanger at the end of this book, and I look forward to seeing how this harem comes together to fight the rulers of this unique paranormal world. Luckily, book 2 is available. Will be reading it next.

I really enjoyed this book! I don't remember how I stumbled across it, but I'm glad that I did as I've been in an off and on slump for a while now and this one grabbed my attention from the get-go. It's single POV from the FMC so you learn what's happening as she does and that kept me guessing and on my toes as much as it did her. Even for the twists that I guessed correctly, there were additional twists on top of that.

The FMC, Syl, is a survivor and she's devoted to her adopted family. While she'll fight when she has to, her automatic response is to run, and she's also learned to keep most others at a distance. When she's captured by men who were searching for her, she fights not only her capture but also her immediate attraction to them. It also doesn't help that the men don't share information easily. Syl, Hail, and Ty were each frustrating at times in their own ways, but by the end of the book, I liked each one for different reasons and was rooting for them. I enjoyed it as each character opened up slowly and we get more of their backstory, understand their emotions better, and see them try with each other. The world-building is crucial to understanding the characters and I did want a little more of that. I'm also hoping that the main characters will now be more on the same page in book 2 so we get more unity.

There is steam in this first book, I'd say it's a medium burn but some folks may think it's a fast burn, and it's going to be a slow build RH. The book ends on a cliffhanger and I'm excited to see what the characters do next.

Syl

I didn’t like the heroine. She is a want to be badass. She does not think anything through and does not care who she puts in danger. In addition, the insta-uncontrollable lust also got to me. No matter how in lust I am, I would not stop until I found my sister and I would ensure she was ok and not raped before I screwed a guy I just met. But that’s just me.
