Rules of Love #4

The Virgin Scorecard

Rate this book
Indulge in this collection that begins with Mr. Right Now and Captain Romance -- two romances between virgins and athletes that complete the bestselling RULES OF LOVE series.

Mr. Right Now...

I’ve got a problem. After a dozen failed dates - but who’s counting - I’m done hunting for Mr. Right. I’m more than ready to cash in my V-card, and at this point I’ll gladly hand it over to Mr. Right Now. When I go out with my friends for a night on the town, I bump into the perfect candidate. A guy from my past who kissed like a dream but took off before we could say goodbye. The swoony, charming pro athlete is back in the city and he’s as ready to help me with my project as he is to win baseball games. The next morning, I’m deliciously satisfied and I know I’ve chosen wisely. But when he leaves again, I can’t stop wondering -- what if Mr. Right Now is actually Mr. Right? And how do I get him back?

Captain Romance...

I don’t have luck on my side when it comes to romance. That’s why I’m laser focused on my career as a sports reporter and making a mark as a woman in this tough field.
When one of the city’s baseball stars asks me to spend a night on the town, I have to draw the line. Just friends, I say.
He’s good with that.
Very good with that.
So good that I start falling for my new friend.
Of all the swoony, charming, thoughtful men in this big city, why is the one I want thoroughly off-limits? But if I want a chance with the guy they call Captain Romance, I’m going to have to put more than my heart on the line.

This collection also includes Kiss Your Tulips, Limo Bang, and DogFishing, three stories set in the Rules of Love world.

Flirty, Sexy, witty and sweet! I loved every single one of these novellas and short stories that made me smile and swoon. Great to read during lunch or between books and perfect to get you out of a reading slump.

Mr. Right Now follows Shane “Shakespeare” Walker, the new closer for the SF Dragons MLB team. He’s an easygoing guy who wants to impress the owners of his new team and is done with romance after his ex dumped him for an A-list Hollywood star.

After a chance meeting with his high school sweetheart at a comedy club has him rethinking his outlook in relationships. Especially since Clementine Rose is sweeter and sassier than ever. She’s also not looking for Mr. Right, she’s just looking for Mr. Right Now to help her get rid of her V-card and Shane is eager to help. But after laughs, and sweet and sexy reconnection, will one night be enough?

Clementine and Share are delightful together. Their honest with tons of chemistry. I loved their sense of humor and how even in the short amount of chapters their connection felt true. I also enjoyed reading about their friends who are featured in the following novellas.

The Virgin Scorecard is a collection of novellas and shorts in the Rules of Love series by Lauren Blakely. They’re romantic comedies, told from both points of view with a happy ending. Tropes: friends to lovers | sports romance

Mr. Right Now
Shane aka Shakespeare has just been traded to the San Francisco Dragons. He's not looking for a relationship but finds one with his almost high school prom date, Clementine, when he sees her again at a local comedy show.

Short, sweet and adorable second chance.

Captain Romance
Shane's friend Sullivan is aka Captain Romance because he listens to romance books in hopes of knowing women better. But there's one woman in particular he wants to know better - Erin, his team's beat reporter. Can he convince her to take a chance on him? Is he worth the risk to her career? Or are they doomed to be just friends?

I LOVED this one! Erin and Sullivan are my favorite couple in this great collection.

Kiss Your Tulips
Clementine's friend Frankie and Shane's friend Drew make their connection when Drew starts frequenting her flower shop to send flowers to his best friend who's in need of some cheering up. I loved all their cute puns, their banter, and how sweet they are together.

Limo Bang
Marlow and Hudson. Two billionaire owners of San Francisco's rival baseball teams. Hudson wants her (she wants him back) so he starts up a betting game with her where they bet on their teams. Each bet ups the ante AND the heat. Whew! This one is by far the hottest of the collection, and I'd love a full length novel for these two billionaires.

Dog Fishing
The last of the circle of girlfriends, Nova, gets her own short, very short, story when she makes a connection with the comedian at the comedy show most of the couples went to see. These two women were great together in the tiny bit of story we got.

ARC provided by Candi Kane PR for an honest review.
Ebook also purchased through Amazon.

wasn’t expecting for a collection of short stories about friends falling in love (and in bed) with their respective partners on valentine’s day. it was delightful. the stories went straight to the point with each character immediately attracted to the other. sometimes, i don’t need characters to go through the whole deal before ending up together.

5 SMOOCHES!

A fantastic collection of romantic comedy novellas and short stories from Lauren Blakely, The Virgin Scorecard was exactly what I wanted to read right now. All of the stories in this collection were quick reads set in fun, engaging tropes and got straight to the good stuff—the addictively steamy romances!

Mr. Right Now is a novella featuring the surprise reunion of high school sweethearts, Shane, a professional baseball player, and Clementine, a virgin. I loved following their sweet and seriously sexy second-chance romance—including a prom redo—as they rekindled their relationship!

Captain Romance, a friends-to-lovers forbidden romance novella, features baseball player and romance-novel-reader, Sullivan, and the sports reporter, Erin, covering his team. Despite being a quick read, Blakely indulges readers with a swoony, sexy slow burn build-up between this virgin and her ballplayer.

Kiss Your Tulips, a short story pairing florist, Frankie, and baseball catcher, Drew, in the sweetest meet cute of the collection. Frankie isn’t sure if Drew is flirting with her or just a friendly patron, and their wildly witty, pun-filled banter blossoms into a seriously hot connection.

Dog Fishing, a F/F epilogue/short story about Nova, a podcaster, who’s got a crush on comedian, Matilda.

Three Dates With You features two UK-based bar owners, Maeve, and Sam, who became fast friends after Maeve’s business partner and Sam’s good friend, Dean, left to plan his wedding in the US. Dave is newly divorced and not looking for a relationship, and Maeve is focused on her bar. Both of them have some events coming up and agree to attend them together. Cue the flirty banter, fireworks and feels in this friends-to-lovers novella!

My Single-Versary is a novella featuring happily single Skylar who’s on a trip celebrating her one year anniversary of being single. She challenges herself to do things outside of her comfort zone on this adventure, and promptly finds herself with her own personal tour guide as she snorkels and zip-lines her way through Hawaii. Caleb owns a tour company, and he lives by the mantra that you never date a client. They have plenty of exciting experiences below the surface and dangling from the tree-tops, but the truly heart-racing ones are those that they have together.

Limo Bang, a frenemies-to-lovers short story, pairs two rival billionaire baseball team owners in a seriously sexy, tit-for-tat situation. Marlow and Hudson have the kind of chemistry that radiates off them and other people can see and feel. They end up in their own dirty version of one-up-manship with highest of stakes – their hearts and a happily ever after.

Blakely caps this collection off with a teaser chapter of from A Wild Card Kiss, due out February 25, 2022 about a single dad and the woman who got away.

The Virgin Scorecard collection was fun and fiery and full of all the fantastic, feel-good moments and emotions I love from Lauren Blakely. It was the perfect little treat for this busy time of year and teeming with heat, humor and heart. Five smooches from me for The Virgin Scorecard by Lauren Blakely!

Each novella is special.
I don’t always remember the main characters but once the story starts it does give just enough to make you remember why these side characters needed their own stories to be told.

Bk 1 – Old High School sweethearts! I love that, can we have more old High School sweethearts please! This was delicious!

Bk 2 – I love how strong our Heroine is and how she has her own rules and doesn’t let attraction get in the way. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes this was fantastic!

Bk 3 – I mean hello Holiday Romance, and wow he is smooth I did not see that coming I should have it was sweet and totally our Hero.

Bk 4 – This was far too short but I loved that we got a FF novella much needed. Loved that our Comedian was a fan of the Podcaster. ;)

Bk 5 – Ok the narrators and their accents this store was delicious for the ears. Our two bar owners fall for each other, yes please!

Bk 6 – Single-Versary, I loved it. I like rules and order so this was totally something could see. The fact that attraction and chemistry can’t be denied and you have to break the rules. Well it just happens.

The teaser was awesome for A Wild Card Kiss.
And then Limo Bang … WE NEED MORE OF THAT MALE NARRATOR! My word his voice is LUSH!

The Virgin Scorecard is a novella collection of 7 beautiful stories of love:
Mr. Right Now
Captain Romance
Kiss Your Tulips
Dog Fishing
Three Dates with You
My Single-Versary
Limo Bang

An assortment of tropes, heroes and heroines in varying stages of dating, love, and their careers. Each story is quite swoony with different ranges of heat. Some of the couples will be familiar from previous stories from Lauren Blakely. The banter and chemistry is all Lauren, and she doesn’t disappoint. I fell in love with each of these couples, and I dare you not to do the same.

Jason Clarke, Rose Dioro, J.F. Harding, Katie Schorr, Tim Paige, Emma Wilder, Victoria Mei, Vanessa Edwin, Joe Arden, Erin Mallon, Andi Arndt, and Jakobi Diem give great performances, and the only issue I had is these stories weren’t long enough, and I wanted more from them all. Most of these narrators have been favorites of mine for years, and the new-to-me narrators will most certainly have me listening to more of their work. I’ll definitely be listening to this again.

I loved every single one of these little novellas! Pretty much everything I love best about Lauren Blakely’s books. Fun, funny, super steamy, phenomenal banter and characters you want to know.

Mr. Right Now
Shane & Clementine – I loved how they met again in the bar. So swoony and flirty! Their test messages made me smile so big! Rose Dioro and Jason Clarke were amazing in this!

Captain Romance
Sullivan & Erin
I think my favorite parts of this was when they went for their walk in the beginning. I also love that he listens to romance. Hell, I don’t know how Erin was able to resist him. I mean, the way he asks her “are you ok baby?” GAH! Katie Schorr and JF Harding were the perfect choice for Erin & Sullivan.

Kiss Your Tulips
Frankie & Drew
This was absolutely the cutest. So flirty and fun and the way he finally asks her out? OMG adorable! Emma Wilder & Tim Paige were so good with this little short.

Dogfishing
Nova and Matilda
This was fantastic! I wanted it to be longer! Victoria Mei was outstanding in this cute little story.

Three Dates with You
Maeve & Sam
I loved every moment of this even more than I did when I read it in print. Vanessa Edwin is amazing as always.

My Singleversary
Caleb & Skyler
I really enjoyed this one again just as much as the original version. Cute, flirty and sexy! I loved their little chats and not dates. Erin Mallon & Joe Arden did a great job!

Limo Bang
Marlo & Hudson
I mean, the title says it all! Marlo and Hudson are rival team owners with their own little private rivalry that gets pretty hot and they up the ante every time!
LOVED this one!!! Jakobi Diem & Andi Arndt were perfect in this!!!

Another great read from Ms Blakely this time it’s five novellas that capture our hearts in The Virgin Scorecard. Each short story was captivating and entertaining and I’m sure like me you will love each tale set around the most romantic day of the year, Valentines Day. Every book has a different couple, a different level of heat and they each feature a different troupe, we get second chances, friends to lovers and more so that means there really is something for everyone. As you would expect from this very talented author these couples will make you smile with their witty banter, they will make you swoon and sigh but more importantly they will make you fall in love with them and their journeys.
This is a gem of a read that I highly recommend. I can’t wait to listen to the audio addition.

What fun! These three novellas have sweet heroes and heroines who it would be a pleasure to have as friends! I loved the setting, the wave if positivity that flowed my way, and the guaranteed HEA. All six are charming, eminently likeable and the novellas are steeped in humour and a sense of well being. Perfect 🥰 💖💖💖💖💖

When you're in need of a dose, or dozens, of Lauren Blakely, then pick this one up. It's a guarantee you'll love every one of the guys and their heroines. It was so much fun to read, I can't stop myself from reading all of them back-to-back. Each one of the stories and their characters are different from one another, but they're interconnected because of how they met one another. Absolute must-read!

Take 3 parts Rules of Love add 2 parts Men Of Summer and a splash of the Movie Valentines Day you have a perfect mixture of a wonderful story. This books is compiled of 5 different stories that can be enjoyed separately but all overlap in some way or another. Almost all the characters we have met before and have asked "When is so in so going to get their story??"

Mr. Right now.
Narrated by: Jason Clarke (British Accent *Swoon*) and Rose Dioro
Trope: Second Chance Lovers

This story we see Shane coming to San Francisco hot off a trade. He is determine to make this his year, and in order to do that he is focusing on the game and not on the women...unless it's the woman he has not stopped thinking about since high school. Clementine is a sweet yet sassy dog walker (and lover) who is giving up on finding her Mr. Right, and focusing on finding Mr. Right now. She has held onto her V card for far too long and is ready to get rid of it. When out one night at a comedy club, she should run into her old high school fling, none other than Shane himself. What could go wrong when two people, not looking for love because no one has held a candle to each other for years, meet by chance? More like...what can go right?

Jason was the absolute PERFECT British ball player and Rose brought Clementines spunk to life so well. Loved every minuet of these two!
_____________________________________________________________
Captain Romance
Narrated by: J.F Harding and Katie Schorr
Trope: Second Chance lovers, Forbidden Lovers, Friends to lovers.

Mr. Charasmatic, starting Pitcher for the San Francisco Cougars Sullivan is ready to hang up his Batchelor hat and get serious with someone, to bad that someone is currently off limits. Erin is the local sports beat writer covering the Cougars season. Erin and Sullivan strike up an easy going friendship, despite the fact that they both want more. What will it take for these two career and goal oriented people to get past their foul balls and hit a home run together?

JF Harding and Katie Schorr are both still newer narrators for me personally, but I enjoyed them enough to search out other work. I hope to see them again in the LB universe.
_____________________________________________________________
Kiss Your Tulips
Narrated by: Tim Paige and Emma Wilder
The age old problem of misunderstood flirting and lots and lots of flower puns!

Drew is the Catcher for the San Francisco Dragons, he is funny, charming and easy going. He is also a great friend. When he goes to a local flower shop to get some flowers for a friend who recently got divorced, he runs int0 Frankie, The flower shop owner. Frankie is a cute and sweet but definitely has a spicy side to her, just read her flower cards. But she can't tell if Drew is flirting with her or not, I mean he is buying flowers for another women? These two have such a fun story and the puns are off the chart, I am not dandelion!!

Tim Paige end Emma Wilder were just the perfect pairing to bring these two young, flirty, fun characters to life.
_____________________________________________________________

Three Dates with You
Narrated By Vanessa Edwin
Trope: Friends to Lovers, Fake Relationship (sort of ?)

We see Sam and Maeve, you may remember them as friends and/or business partners with Dean from A Guy Walks Into My Bar. While Dean is off planning his wedding to Fitz these two are becoming close and fast friends. Sam is fresh out of a divorce, that might not have been as fresh as it seems. Maeve is working hard running her bar, The Magpie, on her own since Dean left it to her. Neither one wants to worry about dating, so when they have public obligations to go to, they use each other as dates. There was already a slow ember burning there, will it burst into all out flames?

Vanessa Edwin was solo in this Novella, not only was she using a British accent as Maeve but her male voice is one of my favorites. She truly holds her own the whole time. She is a one click narrator for me.
_____________________________________________________________

My Single-Versery
Narrated by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon
Trope: Vacation Fling, Forbidden Love

For those hard core Lauren Blakely fans this one may sound familiar to you, Caleb and Skylers story was originally a short scripted story as an Audible Original, One of those Flings. Lauren revised the original script, expanded the scenes, added new ones and characters and recast.

Skyler is ready to stop being sad about being single and embrace it! she decided to take a trip to Hawaii to celebrate her full year off of dating, or a Single-versery. She is ready to enjoy a single vacation and is still not worry about dating. Until she meets Caleb. Caleb is the owner of his own Hawaiian fun tour company. All he's interested in is the sun, the surf and making sure his business thrives. He has one main rule, Do Not Date The Clients. But the good thing about being your own boss? You can change the rules.

Joe Arden and Erin Mallon are by far some of my favorite narrators out there and one of my top favorite pairings. They are of themselves, one clicks for me but together they are gold, and this is no exception.
_____________________________________________________________

Limo Bang
Narrated by Jacob Diem and Andi Arndt
Trope: Frenemies to lovers

Limo BANG is right!! This story is about the Rival San Francisco Baseball team owners Marlow and Hudson. Despite the fact they should hate each other for being rivals, these two gravitate towards each other and everyone around them can feel the sparks. These two spend the Novella trading off bets for things like Limos, Players and...sex?? Who is really loosing when a good time had by all is on the line.

Andi Arndt as always did a fabulous job bringing spunky Marlow to life. This is the second book/novella by Lauren Blakely for Jakobi Diem and boy oh boy do I hope we get more of him. He is the perfect mix of growly yet sensual. I can not wait to hear more of him and hope he is in a full novel next time.
_____________________________________________________________

There was also a short epilogue, Dog Fishing, with Nova. She is crushing hard on the comedian Matilda, and it isn't until Matilda uses Novas podcast title in her show that she realizes that the crush may be going both ways. This was such a good 6 min story, I sure do hope we see more of Nova or maybe see some more FF stories by LB in the future. This short epilogue was narrated by Victoria Mei, who is new to me but I enjoyed her and hope to hear more from her in the future.
_____________________________________________________________

We were also treated to a sneak peak of A Wild Card Kiss, Preorder available now and as of now should be released February 25th 2022. The Sneak Peak was narrated by Zachary Webber, but will also include Erin Mallon. I am very excited for this one!!
_____________________________________________________________

I very much enjoyed listening to this entire book, and despite the title, not all stories are about virgins.

The Virgin Score card comes out this Friday December 17th to all platforms. Currently available for ebook preorder for $.99!! Thats a deal!

A Valentine's day event is the scene that centers this collection as new stories of finding love unravel. Sweet novellas and shorts to make you smile and swoon with more of the characters from the Rules of Love series.

Mr. Right Now

Shane "Shakespeare" Walker is a British pro baseball player just transitioning to the SF Dragons lineup which is also sort of a homecoming for him. He is fun, charming, and has a good sense of humor. He is embracing this fresh start and is determined to keep his focus on the game and avoid any temptation or romantic entanglements.

Clementine Rose is a sweet and sassy dog trainer. She has been looking for Mr. Right but only finding Mr. Wrongs, so she has decided to change tactics. She wants to lose her V card and is now willing to find and settle for Mr. Right Now and not worry about relationship potential.

But one Valentine's day, a reconnection, some laughs, and a ton of chemistry might knock them both for a loop.

This novella is a cute, sweet, sexy, second-chance romance. These two are so adorable together and are impossible not to like. They have such snappy senses of humor and have a connection. They are both genuine and honest too. But sometimes the heart wants more than the brain is agreeing to. Priorities carry weight, but are they more important than lust, love, and potential?

It also has quite a few side characters that enrich the story. They each have a tight group of friends there to push them and tease them, or let them cry on their shoulder. I am looking forward to seeing more from them in the future.

Captain Romance

Sullivan Fitzgerald is one of the SF Cougars starting pitchers. He is charming, outgoing, talkative, inquisitive, and intuitive. He is looking for Ms. Right with beauty and brains, and has developed a good understanding of what women want and need. And there is one woman he has his eyes set on even though she should be off-limits.

Erin Madison is a sports reporter who covers baseball in San Francisco. She is energetic, spontaneous, smart, open-minded, and honest. She loves digging into how people's minds think and also about history. She has bigger dreams, but loves what she does too.

From flirty, playful rapport to a deeper friendship, they enjoy spending time together but know that they need to stay in the friend zone so as not to have a conflict of interest. But there is an undeniable attraction, common interests, and Sullivan especially is not giving up hope that he can somehow convince her that he is worth the risk.

These two were a lot of fun. I enjoyed their adventures and heart-to-heart talks. They are just such a sweet and passionate duo. Sullivan is hot and swoony and just so thoughtful and respectful too. And she has spunk and sass and a true sense of what she wants. It also brings in some of their friends and some of the events coincide with other stories.

Kiss Your Tulips

Drew McBride is the SF Dragons catcher. He is charming, caring, optimistic, and witty.

Frankie owns her own floral shop. She is quirky, cute, smart, but is not afraid of the spicy or naughty.

One encounter starts a mutual crush situation and keeps Drew coming back. Frankie enjoys the visits but is not sure what his end game is.

These two have such funny-punny senses of humor. I loved their banter and shared interests. They are just sweet, and adorable, but have chemistry and fire too. The perfect combo and a delightful little short.

And there are a couple more short stories in this collection about
a badass babe, a comedian, and a dog,
and two hot team owners and some hot encounters.

What a treat this collection of 5 novellas are! I was so pleasantly surprised that not only did I get to hear how some of my favorite characters from Lauren’s “The Rules of Love” world find their own HEA’s, but was thrilled with a few surprise stories as well! The characters were all connected in some way in these, but you can also listen as stand alone’s if you need something quick, fun, and sexy! I love how each couples stories had the same timeline, and revolved around an outing on Valentine’s Day at the same venue.
Mr. Right Now- this one was definitely my favorite. I loved the extremely super sexy, dirty talking second chance romance. Jason Clarke did an amazing job performing the character of Shane. The “I am only focusing on my baseball career” swoony Brit. His accent was brilliant! Rose Dioro was just spot on with her portrayal of Clementine! (I really wanted her to have her HEA)… and to cash in her V Card… this was just a deliciously dirty but super sweet and short novella of fate. My favorite kind!
Captain Romance- what a beautiful friends to lovers this one was. It was also a little forbidden. I enjoyed their slow build up and how they got to know each other. Just the sweetest! This was definitely the most romantic I think, beautifully performed by JF Harding and Katie Schorr as Sullivan and Erin. The baseball player, and the sports reporter. The way their HEA played out was perfect, like the romance books that the hero listened to. Loved that! JF’s performance was completely swoon worthy , he’s definitely becoming a favorite of mine. Katie is a new to me narrator, loved her and look forward to listening to her again!
*OMG*…. Kiss Your Tulips- Ha!!! This was so funny, sexy, and damn good! This one made me laugh and chuckle with all the funny corny puns. It was also seriously sexy as well. It was perfectly cast! Tim Paige and Emma Wilder were perfection playing Drew and Frankie. I loved this quirky one… I saw a lot of myself in it which made it super relatable!
Three Dates with You- ohhh I was super stoked getting to hear how Mav and Sam got together and found their way to each other. I loved these side characters from one of my all time favorite LB books, A Guy Walks Into My Bar. Ahhh.. such a swoon worthy story! It was beautifully narrated by Vanessa Edwin, who was amazing with her British accent.
*My super sweet bonus treat?! * My Single-Versary-narrated by one of my favorite narration duo’s Erin Mallon and Joe Arden. This vacation based short story was just so romantic, funny, and I just didn’t want it to end!! Perfect RomCom! Of course Erin and Joe did not disappoint bringing Caleb and Skylar to life.
Limo Bang- I really really enjoyed this ridiculous forbidden romance of two billionaires that make these most outrages bets to each other. Jackobi Diem and Andi Arnt performed the two ridiculously attracted to each other billionaires and their super sexy and dirty bets… and their own track to their HEA!
Dogfishing- this was the shortest of the bunch, but Victoria Mei did an outstanding job setting the stage for Nova to find her HEA in a beautiful and funny sexy woman.

Lauren Blakely's newest addition to her Rules of Love consists of not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE stories. Yep, you read that right. Each one features a different couple, but they're all tied together by two things: baseball and stand-up comedy. That's a strange pairing, I know, but trust me, it works. I enjoyed reading every single one of these stories, all of which are quick reads with varying lengths and have the same timelines, more or less.

Mr. Right Now is a second-chance romance with Shane Walker, aka Shakespeare (because he's English), and Clementine Rose. Shane's the new closer for the San Francisco Dragons, and Clem was the girl from high school who got away. This is the longest among all the stories, and it follows the first three books in the series with the virgin theme. I loved the flirty and dirty banter between Shane and Clem. This fab story kicked things off nicely.

Captain Romance is a forbidden romance with Sullivan Fitzgerald, pitcher for the San Francisco Cougars, and Erin Madison, a reporter whose beat includes writing about the Cougars. Sullivan's had a thing for Erin for quite some time, but Erin fears what getting involved with him could mean for her career. This is the second longest story, and has a virgin main character as well. I enjoyed seeing these two spark up a friendship and then far more.

Kiss Your Tulips is a short story with Drew McBride, catcher for the San Francisco Dragons, and Frankie (last name not mentioned), florist and owner of Kiss Your Tulips. He needs flowers for a woman who means the world to him, but he's all flirty and charming with Frankie. So, what gives? I'm not going to tell you, but this story was super cute, and had me grinning from ear to ear. This is the fourth longest story but brings the rom and com.

Limo Bang is a short story with Marlow Winters, owner of the San Francisco Dragons, and Hudson Tanner, owner of the San Francisco Cougars. In short, these two are rivals, but they also happen to be really into each other. So, what's a bit of betting and hooking up between rivals, right? I liked these two together because they were absolutely perfect for each other and gave as good as they took. This fun-filled and steamy story is the third longest one.

Dog Fishing serves as the epilogue for this entire collection and is about Nova, who has her own popular podcast and has an adorable dog, and Matilda, a stand-up comedienne with a strong following and has been dog-fished in the past. As short as this was, I quite liked these two women who shared a connection, and they earn bonus points because they both love dogs. I do wish this bit were longer but what was there was really enjoyable.

All in all, I liked all five couples and their stories. Lauren Blakely delivers on the flirty romance she's known for, as well as the light-hearted comedy that elicits a smile or laugh. With five stories about a close-knit group of four gal pals, three professional baseball players, two rival team owners, and one hilarious comedienne, plus cameos from other Rules of Love and Men of Summer characters, The Virgin Scorecard definitely scored with me. 4.5 stars.

The Virgin Scorecard is book four in the “Rules of Love” series and features five fabulous novellas: Mr. Right Now, Captain Romance, Kiss Your Tulips, Limo Bang, and Dog Fishing. These are perfect to read when you don’t have much time and will have you smiling as they have low angst and insta-love. In signature Blakely fashion, there is plenty of wit and smolder, with swoony heroes and heroines you will route for.

Mr. Right Now is a sports themed romance and second chance love. High school sweethearts Shane and Clementine reconnect and their easy banter and smokin’ hot chemistry was like no time has passed. Even with his career and travel demands, she was never far from his mind, and after a little hiccup, they find their HEA. Shane was coming off a recent heartbreak, but it goes to show you what happens when you are with the right person. I loved his honesty and sweet words. Clementine is a virgin with a terrible track record with past dates which had me cracking up. She was so genuine, adorable, and easy-going, and I was so happy she finally got her HEA with sexy Shane!

Captain Romance was friends-to-lovers featuring Erin and Sullivan. Our hero is also a pro-ball player and has been smitten with one of the reporters covering his team for years, but needs to keep his dirty desires in check as she is off limits! I really felt his longing and her attraction to him and loved how they took their time to get to know one another. This slow burn was worth the wait as they developed a really strong friendship first which made their sexy times that much more special.

I love how they brought out the best in each other, how well they got along, and how they each admired and supported the other’s career. My only wish is that she wasn’t a virgin. I realize this is the title of the book, but felt it was awkward in this situation and not necessary. But other than that, I truly loved this couple!

Kiss Your Tulips features Drew and Frankie. Drew finds love in the local flower shop when he meets the owner and is immediately smitten. He’s loyal and thoughtful, and almost too good to be true, but this is a romance written by Lauren Blakely after all, and her heroes are always loaded with tons of character! He loves Frankie’s sense of humor and rises to the occasion as they banter with their love of puns.

Limo Bang features Marlow and Hudson, two billionaire rival owners of the San Francisco baseball teams who can flirt like the best of them. This one is uber-sexy as they make bets that only the rich and famous can do, and always end up naked!

DogFishing is only a chapter and features Nova, the last of the girlfriends to find love with the female comedian we met in Mr. Right Now.

This is a good set of contemporary romance novellas. As I would expect, some were better than others, but the set as a whole was entertaining. My rating for the set is 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 stars.

Mr. Right Now -- 4 stars. This was a nice second chance romance. Since Shane and Clementine had been high school sweethearts who got separated by his baseball career, it was nice when they found each other again. There was quite a bit of sex, but it didn't seem like only lust, since they had a connection from their teenage years.

Captain Romance -- 4 stars. This was a good story of two people who were attracted to each other, but thought their careers would prevent a romantic relationship. It was sweet how they agreed to become friends instead, and got to know each other slowly. Then when they did find a way to be together, they already knew they could make a relationship work.

Kiss Your Tulips -- 3.5 stars. This was a short, but very cute, story. It was the meet-cute, and beginning of a relationship for Frankie and Drew, who were both likable.

Limo Bang -- 2.5 stars. This was my least favorite of the set. I didn't sense any love at all between Hudson and Marlowe, just lots of lust. They were both very rich and very spoiled, and actually seemed really shallow. It seemed like their relationship was all about one-upmanship and lots of sex. I just couldn't imagine that it would ever become a lasting romantic relationship.

Dog Fishing -- 3 stars. This was a very short, but very cute, meet-cute of a female couple. It was so short that it didn't really get into a relationship, just the very beginning of one. But Nova and Matilda were both likable, so it left me hoping they could make a relationship work.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

I thoroughly enjoyed every novella included in this anthology! Each is fun, funny, steamy, romantic, and just the right kind of escape to make you smile and get lost in the excellent performances! Lauren writes with an ear for audiobooks, and it shows!

Mr Right Now is narrated by Jason Clarke and Rose Dioro (favorite pairing). In this short story, Shane and Clementine get a second chance at love, and I’m here for it! I love a sexy man who isn’t afraid to snort laugh at a comedy club. It is seriously seggsy and you gotta love the Galentines Day concept.

Captain Romance is narrated by JF Harding and Katie Schorr. JF has been on my radar for a while now, but this shot him right up to the top. I can’t wait to listen to more! Sullivan and Erin fight their attraction in this beautiful story of building a true friendship. Sullivan has learned a lot from listening to romance, and it shows!

Kiss your Tulips is narrated by Tim Paige and Emma Wilder. Frankie and Drew have an absolutely adorable flirt fest in this one that is so adorable I almost can’t stand it!

Dog Fishing is narrated by Victoria Mei. Nova and Matilda will melt your heart! Victoria does a great job and the story is so cute!

Three Dates with You is narrated by Vanessa Edwin. Maive and Sam explore possibilities in this friends to lovers that gives us the love story behind Dean’s savvy business partner from Guy Walks Into My Bar. Vanessa is amazing and I loved it!

My singleversary is narrated by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon as Caleb and Skylar. This island adventure delivers the wonderfully flirty seggsy banter for which Lauren is so famous and had me applauding Skylar’s powerful self reflection and self discovery right along with their fling to forever! I enjoyed the original version, but this is even better!

Limo bang is narrated by Andi Arndt and Jakobi Diem and their performances are everything we love about them! Marlo and Hudson are rival team owners with their own little private betting war going on behind closed doors. They are competitive, ruthless, and their attraction is magnetic. The title says it all, people!

I received an #AdvancedListenerCopy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I seriously enjoyed each story and highly recommend it!

The Virgin Scorecard was a fun and flirty read. This is a collection of novellas within the Rules of Love world. It was great getting more of some of these side characters from the previous books. These stories coincide with each other so it was enjoyable as I read.

Mr. Right Now:
I was so excited to get more of Shane aka Shakespeare. He was traded back home and wanted to focus on just baseball. But then he gets a blast from the past and baseball might not be the only thing this pitcher needs to close. I loved how sweet Clementine and Shane were. Their chemistry was out of the park and their banter was witty. I couldn't help but smile when they were together. They were too cute. It was nice to read how a reconnection can grow quickly when it all clicks. A delightful romance.

Captain Romance:
Another adorable story. Sullivan and Erin have been tiptoeing around each other for a while. There is a little of a forbidden aspect to their romance. They had lively banter and an intense spark. They complemented each other greatly. It was nice watching their friendship grow as they spent more time together and trying to stay on the right side of the line. However the more time they spent together, the more love starts to blossoms. Sullivan and Erin were adorable and their romance was lovely.

Kiss My Tulips:
This was an amusing read. I loved the puns that were interwoven throughout the story. The banter, the chemistry, the romance-all too cute. Drew and Frankie had the it factor. How perfect and charming were they?! Their budding romance was pleasant.

Limo Bang:
A steamy and flirty story. Marlow and Hudson were combustible. Just pure fire when these two got together. They were perfect for one another and their romance was full of fun and spice.

Dog Fishing:
Nova meets her match. It was nice to see how she was able to find love with Matilda.

Overall, The Virgin Scorecard was a great, entertaining, and cute stories that will hit the spot. Lauren gave us a home run with this one.

I was absolutely not ready to leave the “Rules of Love” series world (Three wonderful stories AND the Men of Summer series) and Lauren Blakely heard my cries of need. We get three amazing novellas to wrap up this series. Plus two short stories that are just as amazing. The novellas all center around a Valentine’s day event which is genius. The plotting that goes on in Lauren’s head is amazing and I would love to sit in a corner and watch the master at work as she plots.

Mr Right Now

Shane, AKA Shakespeare, was always one of the guys that I loved whenever we got a little bit of him in the other books. A British baseball player? Yes, please! Clementine was amazing and I loved her career as a dog trainer. This was a sweet and steamy second chance romance because the first time we were around each other was not the right time. You can go into a romance with no strings but sometimes fate has other ideas.

Captain Romance

Okay, Sullivan. I love that you listen to romance audiobooks as your guilty pleasure. They really can be the way in to find out what a woman wants and likes. Erin has her dream career working in sports broadcasting and has worked her way to where she is at now. Sullivan and Erin’s relationship is truly a friends to lovers story that was so sweet.

Kiss Your Tulips

Frankie and Drew are so adorable I could scream. Their short story had me smiling the whole time And all the puns? I was in heaven with them. Their banter is adorable and hilarious with the chemistry to match.

Limo Bang

This story starts with a bang and ends with a bang. It might only be seven chapters but the spice is not skimped on at all. Marlow and Hudson are owners of the rival baseball teams in San Francisco but their chemistry knows no bounds. Their competitiveness and bets is a fun twist to the story.

Dog Fishing

I want more from Nova! It’s so hard to find a decent FF romance story and we just got a tease of Nova and Matilda

I can’t wait to relive these novellas again when the audiobook comes out.

Adult Proms, friend dates, meet-cutes and romance!

There's a reason LB is a go-to author when I need a HEA that'll make me smile. The Virgin Scorecard is a fun collection of romantic novellas/short stories. First, we're introduced to Shakespeare and Clementine—former high school sweethearts that discover that the spark between them still burns brightly. I loved this couple and their adult prom date! In order to get their happily ever after, both Clementine & Shane had to be vulnerable. That bravery paid off in a big way and they found love. Next, we get a friends to lovers romance between Sullivan, the baseball star, and Erin, the reporter that covers his team. The sparks are there from the beginning, but these two have to settle for friend dates because Erin doesn't want to jeopardize her career. I loved following along as this couple fell in love during those dates, especially their strolls through the city! Then, we get the meet-cute between Frankie and Drew. *sigh* The puns were A+ and how Drew goes about asking Frankie for a date absolutely melted my heart. So, so swoony! Limo Bang it the next story—a super steamy short that focuses on the attraction between two baseball team owners. Hudson and Marlow have amazing chemistry. He's determined to have her, and isn't above a little bet. Luckily, Marlow is a lady that doesn't mind the game. Super short, but oh so steamy! Finally, the book closes out with the shortest of the stories between Nova and a comedian. This one is a f/f story and I was a little sad that it was so short. But, I am glad that the friend group of Clem, Erin, Frankie, and Nova all found their happily ever afters! The heroes were all that perfect, enlightened, super swoony type that I've come to expect from a LB book. Likewise, the heroines aren't afraid to speak their truths and go after everything they want, because in a LB book they CAN have it all!

A collection of short Novellas that are fun, flirty, sexy and romantic. All the characters lives intercept together with friendship or baseball.

They have amazing chemistry and both want so much more but, settle on a friendship that won’t jeopardize Erin’s career. An amazing forbidden romance.

KISS YOUR TULIPS- Drew McBride is the catcher for the San Francisco Dragons professional baseball team. He is a sweet an amazing guy who is sending flowers to his BFF to cheer her up. When Drew meets Frankie who’s the owner of the flower shop he’s immediately taken by her and plans a big gesture of romance.

Mr. Right Now

Mr. Right Now tells the story of Shane ‘Shakespeare’ Walker and Clementine Rose, high school sweethearts who lost touch once Shane left for the big leagues of Baseball. With both their love lives having suffered the past few years, they decide no more. Until a night on the town has them reunited and agreeing on one night together. But after all is said and done, will they be able to walk away when old and new feelings get involved?

This short, medium pace read by Lauren Blakely is a friends to lovers, second chance romance told through dual perspectives. Within 15 chapters, we get to learn about Shane and Clementine as individuals within their personal lives as well as when they are together. Given that they share a past history together.

If you’re looking for a quick read that is light, sweet, romantic, swoony and sexy, whilst still being funny and entertaining then look no further because this novella by Lauren Blakely would be a catch.
The banter between Shane and Clementine will have you LOL’ing, given the awkward moments that are created from some of their words. Whilst the steam will have you fanning yourself, with it getting hot and heavy at times.

Whilst I was expecting The Virgin Scorecard the last book in Rules of Love to be a full length story, as opposed to being made up of a couple different novellas. I still enjoyed the novella overall and thought it was a good read.

The Virgin Scorecard by Lauren Blakely was quite the entertaining audio delight. This collection of novellas set in Lauren's Rules of Love World was just the delicious icing on the cake to another fantastic series. I was so excited to be treated to so many more swoony and steamy love stories performed by so many of my favorite narrators.

This amazing collection of novellas were performed by Jason Clarke & Rose Dioro, J.F. Harding & Katie Schorr, Tim Paige & Emma Wilder, Victoria Mei, Vanessa Edwin, Joe Arden & Erin Mallon, and Andi Arndt & Jakobi Diem. Mr. Right Now performed by Jason Clarke and Rose Dioro was a second chance love story of Shane and Clementine. I loved Jason's British accent and Rose's passion in their performances of these sweet and sexy characters. Captain Romance performed by J.F. Harding and Katie Schorr was a swoony friends to lovers story that I instantly fell in love with. The collection also included Kiss Your Tulips, Limo Bang, My Single-Versary, and Three Dates with You, and all simply put a big goofy grin on my face! I loved that each novella gave one more character a chance to find their own HEA, and all of these narrators were brilliant in their performances.

Overall, I simply loved everything about The Virgin Scorecard. If you are looking for a collection of novellas that include a second chance prom, a reporter who gets her man (who happens to love romance stories), finding love in a flower shop, a woman who knows what wants and goes for it, a trip to Hawaii that turns into so much more, three dates to find love with her best friend, and a steamy limo ride that all end in sweet and satisfying HEAs, then I highly recommend the Virgin Scorecard! I always look forward to more from Lauren Blakely.

We have a book packed full of love with multi novellas that give us the stories for the side characters in the Rules of Love series. These novellas are flirty and fun and so entertaining. I listened to this book on audio so I not only got the pleasure of the stories but the added bonus of having multi narrators tell me their stories. You noticed I have used multi several times, there is a reason for that...

Jason Clarke, Rose Dioro, J.F. Harding, Katie Schorr, Tim Paige, Emma Wilder, Victoria Mei, Vanessa Edwin, Joe Arden, Erin Mallon, Andi Arndt, and Jakobi Diem are all wonderful to listen to. My ears and heart was so pleased. It is difficult to pick a favorite amongst this passion filled book as I loved them all. They are all so much fun and the characters are likeable and I loved listening.

One of the things I enjoy about this authors work is that the characters are always so real to me. I love how she intertwines the stories so that it is in fact like catching up with old friends and making new friends along the way. These characters live in a more perfect world than we sometimes do and it is nice to delve into a story and get all the feels that come with it. Love is not always easy for our couples but they always find their way to each other and we get to take the love journey with them. I also love that I can picture the locations our couples are at. There is enough details to the story that I can visualize it to where I can see it as I read or listen. That is the true art of a great author where you can envelope yourself into the story with the characters. This is a great collections of novellas that give us all of that. I highly recommend this book.
