A quick small town, surprise pregnancy romance. Loved Nik's character, he was such a sweet and caring guy. I found the Harry and Sally references it was really cute. They had amazing chemistry together. Can I just say the drama with Ashley's sisters was absolutely insane? Looking forward to reading more Jennifer Van Wyk books.

Jennifer Van Wyk has delivered another delightful small-town-romance with a gorgeous hero, a sweet and sassy heroine, and a surprise pregnancy that is about to turn their worlds upside down.

Nik and Ashley meet in a bar one night where they are both drowning their sorrows in copious amounts of alcohol after getting dumped by their long-term partners. Neither of them saw it coming, and they aren’t terribly distraught (on reflection, it’s probably for the best), but in their efforts to forget, they commiserate together at the bar before heading home together for a weekend full of sex with a virtual stranger. They proceed to rock each other’s worlds, and though they both want more, Ashley asks for time to get herself together before she embarks on a new relationship, so they agree to temporarily go their separate ways. Until they are brought back together by the life-changing news that Ashley is pregnant.

I love surprise pregnancy books, and this one is so much fun! Nik is surprisingly accepting of the whole thing, and he jumps on board full of excitement for all that is to come. It takes Ashley a little longer to adjust, but they both agree that they’re in this together and they should get to know each other before they become parents, so we get this situation where they are friends… but more… but not officially… but still together sort of situation that is cute and playful and so much fun.

“You’re being too perfect,” I grumble.
“Want me to act like an asshole?” he jokes. “I’m not always perfect, Ashley. Far from it, actually. I have my moments like everyone else. But when it comes to this baby and what you need from me? I’m there for you and that won’t change.”

Oh, he’s so swoony! Nik really is perfect, and I just adored him. He wants Ashley, but he respects her boundaries, so he’s there for her in every way that he can be – supportive and protective, affectionate and flirtatious, and I just loved him. And Ashley is great. She’s smart and sensible, and so relatable. I loved both of these characters, and together they are so much fun, and I loved the playful, yet intimate, dynamic between them.

“I know that we need more time to get to know each other. We jumped way ahead of ourselves that night but I’m not sorry. I also don’t want to freak you out by telling you this, but even before I knew about the baby, I hadn’t stopped thinking about you. If you’re feeling it, I want to have a discussion about exploring what it is that’s between us.”
Ashley’s eyes dance when she says, “So you have a crush on me, huh?”
“Fuckin’ smart ass.” I grin before crushing my lips to hers.

The chemistry between these two is fantastic, and I could feel their attraction, but they have a lot to figure out before their baby arrives, and with their growing feelings for each other and their un-named relationship status, it’s a fun journey watching it all unfold.

“We aren’t doing this alone, Ashley. This is us together.”

Nik and Ashely’s families are a big part of the action. Nik’ sister is a riot, Ashley’s family not so much, but they all contribute to the story, and I loved their inclusion and the added emotion that they bring to the situation.

There is some drama, but very little angst, and I loved watching Nik and Ashley’s romance unfold as the story builds to the big, exciting moment, and along the way these two absolutely stole my heart.

“I fell in love with you when I wasn’t even trying. It just happened. Because that’s the way it’s supposed to be, you know?”

Fans of Jennifer Van Wyk will recognise some of the side characters and locations as the book is set in the same small town as her first few books, so that was an unexpected treat. But this book is a complete standalone. Though I need to investigate Nik’ sister and her husband some more, because this book reads like Josie and Dean’s story has already been told, and if it has, I need to get my hands on it!

Sweet, fun and sexy with a gorgeous romance and an epilogue that finishes everything off beautifully, I loved this one!

Surprise you're pregnant

It wasn't really a surprise. At all but it was a cute story. They meet at a bar and they Both have been dumped and they commiserate with each other and presto chango she's with child. Nik is an awesome guy and I really would like to meet him one day! Sweet funny and totally hot! And Ashley was cute too. I liked their relationship and while the book isn't a non stop thrill ride, it was very nice to read. I liked the family dynamics, except for Grace, and it was really sweet. I wasn't expecting that birth scene though. Quite unexpected for sure. Totally safe and free on KU.

Lort, I absolutely hated the female mc in this book. She was the absolute worst pick me girl in every way. “I hate all that men are at fault for everything stuff women should take responsibility for their actions” girl shut the fuck up, it was on that moment I knew this book would be subpar.

That’s exactly what it was, subpar. Definitely will not be added to my list of unexpected pregnancy reccs.

I LOVED this book so freaking much!! Surprise pregnancy usually isn't my favorite trope, but Jen really knocked it out of the park here. Both Nik and Ashley were absolutely amazing characters, and I had the biggest smile on my face the entire time I was reading -- and i definitely teared up a few times as well!!

Nik and Ashley are both in the same situation, both being dumped by their respective partners and are drowning their pain in copious amounts of alcohol in the same bar, where they strike up a conversation, and I swear i could not stop laughing. Ashley is just so *herself* around Nik (which you'll know how important that is when you read this book) and Nik is just the sweetest and swooniest hero ever. I fucking love that man so much. Anyways, they spend the night drinking, eating and flirting, which leads them in Nik's bed for the night -- And the next day. This leads to not only finding a hilarious, unfortunate tattoo on poor Nik, but also to Ashley getting pregnant. *surprise!*

Nik is such a family man to his very core, from basically raising his sister since their parents passed, and yearning for a beautiful wife and kid(s) of his own, he's just immediately so accepting of the predicament him and Ashley find themselves in. Also to the fact that he genuinely cares for Ashley, and hasn't been able to get her off his mind since their time together. He's just *there* for her in every single way, and never once tries to pressure or force her into anything she doesn't want. Ashley doesn't want to jump into a new relationship in fear of repeating the same mistakes, and Nik is so respectful of her boundaries, even knowing she feels the same way for him as he does for her. In a word, he's just perfect!

I loved Ashley's growth! She really came into her own during this pregnancy, and I loved seeing her actually stand up for herself. She was so fiercely protective of Nik, especially when all a certain sister would do is ridicule him. (She was seriously the worst. I don't think I've ever been so angry over a fictional character before. I was literally shaking with disgust and anger at one certain point) but Ashley's relationship with Nik was just so beautiful. I can't say it enough -- I just loved them so much!!

I can say with absolute certainty that this is my new favorite book from this author, and j cannot wait for you all to read this!!

If you’ve read any of my reviews for Ms. Van Wyk then you might get tired of this line. But it has to be said. Every time I read a new book it’s even better then the previous one. Each book just gets better and better!! And Nik and Ashley are no different. I was off due to a lovely snowstorm in Ohio yesterday and I could not think of a better way to spend my afternoon then with these two! Nik, well he’s just perfect. You’ll see exactly what I’m talking about when you dive in. He’s absolutely perfect. And Ashley? She’s the sweetest and someone I could see myself being best friends with. She’s special. This couple together is everything! Plus we get to be in our favorite town of Liberty again!!! I can’t get over this story! And the rest of the characters you meet in this story.... except Grace. Ok that’s a little harsh. She does get better but still. 😛 oh and o have to say, I love the cover one liner.... 1+1=3 is my favorite! Just like this amazing story brought you by this amazing author!

One of my least favorite tropes: accidental pregnancy romances
One of my top reads already for 2021: Together by Jennifer Van Wyk

“Holy shit. We’re having a baby,” I whisper to myself.

This book has EVERYTHING! Such amazing character backstories, meet-cute, the H (Nik…AKA Harry) and the h (Ashley AKA Sally) were both strong and written with perfection, the humor (oh man! I was laughing so hard in one part I had to stop reading and tell my family that I wanted to but couldn’t tell them why I was laughing so hard!), the heat (phew **fans self**) , the angst and family drama, the siblings/family, the heart-stopping tragedy…GAH! I just can’t stop thinking about how absolutely incredible this book was!

Like I mentioned before…accidental pregnancy romance is not my thing…that being said…this book is a “MUST READ”! I haven’t completely enjoyed everything about a book, as much as I did this one, in quite some time! Together by Jennifer Van Wyk is an extreme emotional roller coaster…this book will give you tears from heartbreak and from laughing so hard…it will also crush you and make your heart full.

This is a 5 star read with:

Jennifer Van Wyk has completely outdone herself with this surprise pregnancy romace.

Nik is drowning his sorrows after a bitter, although fortunate, disappointment. Ashley is actually there doing the same. Their situations weren't 100% exact, but close enough that I believe it was the first thing that started forming the bond between them. Well, that and some alcohol and greasy bar food.

I've said it before, but I am saying it again: Jennifer Van Wyk just knows how to write a damn good man. Nik is exactly the kind of man that Ashley needs in her corner when she winds up pregnant after their drunken night together. He is just phenomenal in every single way. Ashley is a little bit unsure of herself, and I blame it on her lame ex and her witchy sister. (You'll see what I mean about Grace when you read the book.)

The banter between Ashley and Nik is the kind that I love to read. They are both such fun, good characters. Together is must read romance at it's best.

I believe that there is one book in an author's career that shows the growth they have made with their writing. This is that book.

This book was absolutely phenomenal and reading Jennifer's books through the years I was actually surprised how different yet amazing this book was from the rest of her work.

Nik is the man that we wish we had more of in the real world. He took Ashley's pregnancy with maturity and ease. He knew that it was also his fault and that she wasn't to blame. Ashley was a strong woman. Right from the beginning, I love how they connected. I enjoyed the friendship, the teasing, the maturity, and the chemistry.

Reading this book you will fall in love with their relationship. You will not want to put the book down because you want to know how their relationship progresses, what will happen and how they will handle it. I was sucked in and could not put it down.

I loved this book and would recommend it 10 out of 10. Jennifer wrote a different, captivating, and very well-written story.

If only we could pull the characters out of the book the world would be just a little better.

Nic and Ashley were wonderful to read! I loved it so much and read it within i think 2 nights. This story was one i loved because despite how things started off for these characters,the ending of their book was beautifully written. I loved seeing their love for each other blossom across the pages! But for things that drove me insane was her sister. When you read the book you'll know exactly who im speaking of asap! But seriously this was a cute surprise pregnancy book!

I loved this book so much. A night of heartbreak leads to something so beautiful. Be prepared to swoon when it comes to Nik. That man has the charm to melt panties right off. Ashely would know all about that. Nik and Ashely's plans for forever crashed and burned, but an unexpected surprise comes from their drunken one night stand. This story is going to make your romantic heart happy sigh. Ashely and Nik couldn't be any more adorable together. There is one character that I couldn't believe how petty and rude she was. I wanted to knock some sense into her, but she does her work towards road to redemption. That's one of Nik's swoon worthy moments how he stands up for his little family. This is a heartfelt story that packs all the heart and feels. It's a must read. Just plan on wanting to gobble it right up and plan your reading time accordingly.

Ashley and Nik find themselves commiserating at the bar one night. They are both fresh off a disappointing breakup but drown themselves in fried food, beer and good company. Only the next morning they wake up without full recollection of the night before. So instead of the awkward walk of shame, they make the most of the weekend and walk away. Only to run into each other at the grocery store 5 weeks later while Ashley is tryin to purchase a home pregnancy test.

This book slayed me. I was dying of laughter the entire time. I loved Ashley and Nik so dang much. I loved them when they were scared and when they were being honest and when they were fighting with their family. I was laughing a ton in this book. I really love everything about this book. I love how we got little flash backs. I love how Nik was all in from day one. I love how supportive Nik was even when Ashley's sisters were twatwaffles. I loved this book so so so much! Highly recommend for a good laugh and a sweet, romantic swoon.

I simply adore Jennifer Van Wyk’s writing. I have since stumbling upon From the Ground Up not long after it released. And I’ve devoured all of her books since then. Some authors you connect with their writing from the first paragraph, and some you don’t. Obviously, her words connected with me from the get-go. Maybe it comes from growing up in a small town. Or something more. I haven’t quite put my finger on what it is, but regardless, I just love her books.

Together was another in a long line of her books that I’d highly recommend. I’m a character girl, so if I can’t connect with the main characters, it’s hard for me to connect with the plot. Nik and Ashley were simply fabulous. Ashley and Nik are both looking for the same thing but have yet to find it. They are drawn to each other instantly, despite the less than stellar circumstances surrounding their chance first meeting. And when the big oops happens, he’s amazing. Supportive, never placing blame on her, sweet, loyal. Nik is one of the really good ones. And he’s so patient while Ashley figures things out in her own way, even holding back on the physical relationship to build a solid friendship with her. Talk about swoon-worthy! (Move over, James…I think Nik just knocked you out of the top spot of my fave male characters in JVW books!) Who wouldn’t fall for a guy like that? In spite of the Wham-Bam-Thank-You-Ma’am start to their story, the rest is a slow-build. I had a very difficult time putting it down to do necessary things…like eat and sleep!

Jennifer Van Wyk writes from the heart. She can feel her characters’ emotions so well. Then she is able to translate those emotions into beautiful stories. And just so it’s not all heavy, she sprinkles some sarcasm and snark (sometimes more than a little) into the storylines. Being a bit of a sarcastic gal with some well-placed snark at times, I genuinely like that about her books. Together was this excellent combination of imperfect yet lovable and relatable characters (and they were also funny at times), emotional situations that had me all over the place (tears to rage and everything in between), and a slow-build that had me rooting for the good guy to come out on top (along with getting his girl), and a life lesson thrown in here and there.

If you like small-town contemporary romance with a surprise pregnancy thrown in, you’ll definitely want to grab a copy of this book and dive right in.

Let me start off by saying how obsessed I am with this cover. I was in aw with it before I even read this story but now that I have actually read the story, it all makes sense. This cover is Ashley and Nik to a flippin T and I love it even more.

Together is a Standalone Romance that gives you that homey feeling. Being as it is centered around a small town with very few people, it definitely makes sense. I am also a sucker for an unplanned pregnancy and Jennifer Van Wyk did a phenomenal job of combining of the two tropes. I feel like most people think these two tropes are overrated, but I ASSURE YOU when it is done with such ORGINALITY (like Van Wyk just did), your opinion will change.

Personally, I think this author did a dang good job of world building. They story was well plotted out, and developed in a timely manner. The characters were brilliant. I am a major fan of their ages simply because they display so much maturity with their words, and their actions. I loved that Ashley and Nik were both Blue Collar characters, and not ashamed of it. I enjoyed how this author wove some dialogue of work life (specifically with Ashley), because it made for some funny times. I think there was an amazing amount of depth into these characters and their storyline, and it made Together that much more enjoyable. You know thinking bout it now, I think Ashley and Nik both even realized the depth of one another, and it helped them grow.

I feel like the Romance and chemistry aspect deserves it's own paragraph simply because it's in a league of it's own. From the very beginning the chemistry was off the charts. I could feel it in waves. As I turned page after page and read chapter after chapter it grew and grew and grew to the point, I was busting at the seams. The patience and authenticity of these characters made the Romance aspect so carthratic, and Van Wyk deserves all the recognition for showing us what every human deserves. Ashley and Nik are love, and it is as simple as that.

Together is a book not to be missed. This is a book that gives hope and so much love.

There are literally not amazing enough words to describe how wonderful this book is. Literally it is my all-time favorite book EVER -- not just Jennifer Van Wyk's (of which it is) but literally my all-time favorite book ever read!!!

Nik, Nik, Nik -- what a man!!! He literally had my heart from the first night they met but then again the grocery store, the doctor's office and so many more times. He literally had me swooning. He was so perfect to Ashley and she was so perfect for him. I absolutely loved Ashley and how they had amazing chemistry and connection from the beginning. They were literally perfect for each other. They met and came "together" in an unusual way for a couple but it was just the best!!

I love how Nik told Ashley he didn't want to call the baby unplanned and ever think he/she isn't wanted. I looked his connection with his sister and hearing how he played with her and cares for her. I loved her he gave Ashley time in so many ways, how he was always so affectionate to her, how he brought out the Scottish accent to please her, defended and took care of Ashley to her sisters and family, how he described his love for her (Rip to Beth - oh my!) and so many more things but I don't want to spoil the story.

I laughed (tattoo), I cried, I swooned and swooned and swooned even more! This is literally the best book I've ever read and I don't say that lightly. I love my books and I have many that are favorites but this is hands down THE BEST EVER!!

3.5 Nik and Ashley Stars

This was an enjoyable book and if you like low angst and heroes that are truly good guys , then I would recommend this novel.

Nik and Ashley are both drowning their sorrows in a bar on a cold night. Nik (35) has had his proposal to his girlfriend of three years turned down and whilst he's mulling his crash and burn rejection over, he spots Ashley (33) , who is knocking back a few drinks following being dumped by her cheating boyfriend. One thing leads to another and they end up spending a whole weekend together. They (mainly Ash) decide to not rush things and to wait three months before they connect again. They've both come out of long relationships and so they agree. Until Nik bumps into Ash buying a pregnancy test...

Both Ash and Nik were very likeable and they work together really well. The secondary characters were interesting. Nik's sister and her husband were funny and Ashley's sisters were....something else entirely. Grace behaved appallingly and I don't think I could have ever forgiven her actions but Ash did.

Low angst , fairly hot , sweet hero , unexpected pregnancy . Not a book I would re read but it kept my interest.

Together by Jennifer van Wyk is the perfect combination of a small town romance and a surprise pregnancy.

Nick and Ashley meet one night when both are trying to forget about their fails relationships, but thanks to alcohol they had a one night stand that weeks later result in a surprise pregnancy. But when Nick know about this he step up and tell Ashley that he will be there for her no matter what. So they start spending more and more time together during the pregnancy and you can denied that they have a great chemistry. So with time they start a relationship but always a bir scared about what will happen if that doesnt work what will happen wih their coparenting relationship. Not everything will be easy for them they wil have to overcome some difficult moments that will show them that they love each other and that they can be a family with their baby.

OMG guys i love this story so much!! once i started reading i could not stop!! It is so good!! and i love small town romance so much. Jennifer van wyk always writes great stories in this genre and i love them!!

A wonderful surprise baby romance. So in some cases a surprise pregnancy is not always a good thing especially if it happened from a one night stand. However is in case it was a great thing and brought two people who were meant to be, brought them together. Nik is so handsome and such a gentleman, he is so caring. He is very swoon worthy. Ashley is a strong and independent women, who happens to be working on finding who she is and making sure she doesn’t change herself for anyone. I absolutely adore this book. I Love Nik and Ashley, their banter and the way they compliment each other and help make the other a better version of themselves. Their family is great also, however I did get mad at Ashley’s one sister. Lots of loving, caring moments and also some funny ones. There were some serious moments in there as well making this read have all the feels and I loved every minute of it and it seemed to just fly by while I was reading it, I wanted more. I would definitely recommend reading Together!!

Nic and Ashley were impossible not to love! Each were such likable characters that my heart was rooting for them from start to finish.

Surprise pregnancy stories are not my particular favorite cup of tea and I was swooning over Nic’s response to this scenario. He’s such a sweetheart and an all around great guy!! Honestly, ladies...if you have to pick a man to accidentally help you branch out your family tree...you may wanna fight Ashley off for Nic!!! J/K!

Nic is definitely spoken for. He and Ashley have found their soul mates in each other, but also now have a sweet little baby to cement their bond. No one is getting between those two! Each having come into the relationship with scarred hearts, and romantic let downs, I was SO thrilled to see this play out the way it did. They were playful with each other, had great chemistry and banter, and a true friendship emerged.
Perfect recipe for a long lasting relationship, AND a very enjoyable read too!!

If you’re looking for a light, easy read that gives you the perfect small town, feel good, romance escape...I highly recommend you read this! You won’t regret it.

5 Small Town Stars

This is my very first book by Ms. Van Wyk and I freaking loved it!! It’s a beautifully told small-town romance that throws in a surprise pregnancy that throws our H/h for a loop but also proves that when you least expect it, you find your forever.

Nik and Ashley are two people that most likely would’ve never met had they not both been trying to forget their most recent relationships by wallowing in food and beer at a local pub. I loved how Ashley just let herself be who she really is… there’s a reason I say this, but I won’t give it away… and when she and Nik are both out one evening, they end up venting to each other over one too many beers which results in a night neither is bound to forget… especially since their sexy times resulted in a pregnancy!

While it’s clear to me these two really are meant to be with each other as their connection is so strong from almost the start, after they get over the shock of becoming parents. But this book is also a journey for Ashley and what she discovers about herself and Nik embraces everything there is about this woman. Along the way, there are some moments that really allows them to be each other’s person and in the most important ways. Something neither of them have never really had. It makes their connection that much stronger.

There were moments in this book that I laughed and cried. I’m so in love with their love story. When I turned the last page I was a little sad it was over because I want so much more from both Nik and Ashley but all their friends and family too. One thing that’s absolutely going to happen is that I’m now going to start reading all of Ms. Van Wyk’s books!

Jennifer Van Wyk is a new to me author and I was excited to be able to read the ARC of Together for an honest review.
I mean who doesn't love a good small town romance with a surprise pregnancy?!
Nik is down on his luck after the woman he proposed to, after 3 years of being together, straight up said NO. He is sitting in a bar and just happens to meet Ashley, who just broke it off with her cheating boyfriend. It is a bit of a When Harry Met Sally type of story, but with all the feels and a pregnancy.
Nik is amazingly sweet, sexy and just overall swoon worthy! Ashley is still trying to find who she really is and yet is so stong. They have instant chemistry but continue as friends, even with a baby on the way.
I loved the bits of humor in this book and it definitely will give you ALL the feels, *whispers* I might have actually shed a few tears.
I'm glad I found this author and will be reading her other books as well. Well done with Together!!

I love a good accidental pregnancy story!
And this one did not disappoint!
Adding on to the cake - Nic is an awesome baby daddy and I enjoyed how they two dealt with her pregnancy.

Ashley and Nic met at a bar where they consume copious amounts of alcohol and fried foods followed by darts and then two nights of bedroom fun. Did I mention they both got out of long term relationships just that night???
Five weeks later they see each other at the grocery store... in the tampon and pregnancy test aisle. One guess as to what Ashley was buying.

She’s pregnant and he’s the daddy!!!

This story was great!
I enjoyed the chemistry between these two characters and my attention was captured from the very beginning. I had a hard time putting this one down.

This was my first read by this author but it will not be my last.

I love a good surprise pregnancy romance and I'm so glad I picked this one up. These characters were funny, swoony, and so lovable! When Ashley and Nik both find themselves drowning their sorrows in a local bar, one steamy night together leads to healing more than just their broken hearts.

Nik is one of the swooniest male characters I've read in awhile and from what I understand that's how this author writes her male leads and I am HERE FOR IT!

If you're looking for a happily ever after with a couple that has you rooting for them, the perfect amount of drama, and a story line that is addicting, pick this one up!

Oh. My. Gosh. “This house is cursed” gives the perfect end to this story! Ashley and Nikolas weren’t looking for love, but it found them...eventually. So they did things a little out of order. And by that I mean we have a “first comes baby” situation. Fortunately, their attraction and desire to know each other makes for a much easier road ahead. And when they finally admit their love, it felt like everything came together perfectly.

I adored how this story was written. The unexpected brings Ashley and Nikolas together, and not even some seriously nasty, vicious words and actions by a few family members will tear them apart. I was surprised that I found myself laughing on the heels of tearing up and wanting to scream in anger, but it all gave perfect balance to this book. The development of friendship and true camaraderie between Ashley, Nik, and most of their loved ones grabbed me, and the fierceness of Nik’s protection and love for Ashley and their baby had me cheering for him. I’m only sad that I’m done with this book, but I’m truly glad that I read it.
