Just like everyone else in the world (except politicians and the entire Kardashian family), Willa Hart hates talking about herself. Seriously, what's she supposed to say? That she's the most talented author in the world? That Liam Hemsworth, Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan are knocking down her door for the honor of starring in the big-screen adaptation of her latest romance novel? That readers get into hair-pulling, kidney-punching, nipple-twisting brawls while standing in line to buy one of her books?

LIES!

Just like every other wordsmith in the world, she's certain everything she writes (including her own bio) sucks big, fat, hairy donkey danglers. But deep down she hopes and prays YOU are just a little bit delusional and think she IS a great writer, that Liam, Zac and Michael would be idiots to NOT want a part in her movie, and that you'd twist every perky nip you could get your fingers on just to LOOK at her new book. Of course, she's not holding her breath, but...can't a girl dream?

Forbidden Queen
By Willa Hart
Harem of the Mindslayer #5
Reverse Harem • Fantasy • Paranormal

The long-awaited conclusion to Meela's story has arrived in Forbidden Queen. The fifth and final book in the Harem of the Mindslayer series was one wild ride, filled with shocking revelations, steamy romance, and fantastic plot twists, I absolutely loved it.

Meela has changed over the series and it is even more apparent in Forbidden Queen. Meela has become more grounded, wiser, confident in who she is, who she is supposed to be, and what she's supposed to do. She has faith in the Goddess and the White Wolf, faith that they will guide her and give her the strength to do what needs to be done. Meela now has a quiet strength that she uses to move forward and support all of her mates.

The guys are a bit of a mess still, feelings are hurt, trust is shaky, and old prejudices still hover in the background but they are trying for Meela's sake. They all love Meela and believe in her as the Unifier. I love their devotion to her and the cause, and because they are in it so deep they manage to pull themselves together, bond, and come together.

As for the story, it was a quick and easy read that wrapped up the story very nicely with Meela fulfilling her purpose. I enjoyed the story and was easily able to get lost in it. There were a few new and interesting characters that set up things nicely for another series.

I loved Forbidden Queen, it was a fantastic conclusion to the Mindslayer series. Most questions were answered, Meela became who she was meant to be, her harem is finally on the same page, and the steam was pretty good too. I just have a couple of issues I had and all center on Meela's sister, Hauli, and the fae. I have no idea why the fae King accepted Hauli and I was expecting at least a little bit about what happens with her, maybe a taste but got nothing. It's a good thing that it looks like Hauli is getting her own spin-off series, which I most definitely plan on reading.

That was not a good conclusion to the story.

This entire series was a struggle. The same mistakes can be found in every book: typos, poor timeline flow, consistency errors, and all-around bad editing. (Or more likely, no editing) The only reason I kept going was that they were such short reads and I have a problem with having to finish series after I've finished book 2. I just hold out for a good ending that makes up for whatever happened before. For this series, I should've stopped when I had the chance.

What really got me on this was the fact that this ending seemed like it was rushed and discombobulated. Meela suddenly has this expeditious growth in powers and knowledge and it just didn’t flow. It was just all of a sudden, BOOM, All-Powerful. It wasn’t believable. Especially when that could have been spread out in the FOUR books prior.

And lastly, the ending was just… lackluster.

Not impressed

Honestly this whole series was a struggle for me to get through. I liked the storyline, so I powered through to the finish. The author’s writings were grammatically horrible! I am not one to comment when an author needs a little help, maybe a bit more editing, but this was so far beyond that it was appalling! The author doesn’t understand sentence structure and she contradicted herself more then any author I have ever read, by far!

The contradictions were so bad they took me right out of the story and made it impossible to know, which characters did what? Which characters know what? Why do they know something and then not know it? I could go into detail about SO many contradictions, but I will spare you the examples.

**SPOILER**

The author also struggled with timelines. Things happen suddenly and with no explanation like how the last chapter portrays them all working through the beginning stages of reconstruction, when her 3 puppies suddenly run into the room. They are her babies....".? What?! When did that happen?? Things like that pop up randomly and alarmingly throughout the series.

My main question is, where is this author’s editor?

The final book of the mindslayer series is here. Oh man is it full of action. Meela and her men are back and now we will find out if she will be able to unify the factions. So she still has many challenges to overcome. One being to establish her last mate bond with Leo. Also she has to round up an army to take on Vlassimal. The she meets the Winter Fae King and that gets a bit scary. She finds out something about her sister. Not only that but she meets up with her mother and we find out another shocking secret. I mean secrets are dropping like bombs. It was insane. I couldn't read the book fast enough to find out how things were going to end. So how will it all go down? Will the guys and Meela make it in time to stop Vlassimal? I can say that it does get steamy and emotional! We finally find out the we get a happily ever after for Meela and her men. We do find out that there is more to come in a new series hopefully soon.

This was a great conclusion to the series. I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series as they are all about the same main characters journey and are closely connected. This book pulls you in from beginning to end as the loose ends that have been created throughout the series all start coming into play and being tied up. Meela has a heck of a battle on her hands as she has to figure out who she can trust and who is going to betray her while being hit with losses and secrets from the past coming up. She has to find her inner strength in order to figure it all out in time to save not only herself and her mates but everyone else as well. I truly enjoyed this story and series and was happy to finally see everything come together. There is plenty to hold your attention with the action and intrigue in this story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I waited forever for this story and while I enjoyed everything about this story it's been so far apart making it hard to really remember everything from the previous books. But it show made up for it with all the add intrigue, action, suspense, and of course the steamy encounters made for a helluva read. Also I wasn't expecting that surprise twist about Meela sister. Overall a great read and a fantastic finale to the series. I can't wait for Huali story. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Tricky tricky

I waited forever for this book. I know you did too. Yeah Ms. Hart has us by the short hairs as usual. I do love reverse harems. Or as some say why choose. In this one we finally get Prince Leo, and a little bit of a surprise another sister for Meela but finding out her little sister is well alive just before the finale which leads into a other series get to come out and I barely got my HFN. (Sigh) But I will follow where I'm led.

It feels like it’s been an epic journey to get Meela and her men here. I’ve enjoyed watching her embrace her strength and powers as she’s transformed as much as I’ve enjoyed the fun times with her guys. There are still a few tricks and surprises in store for readers with this one though. Just when I thought I couldn’t be any more invested, I was wrong!

I have been waiting to see how things would work out for Meela and her mates. This book nicely wrapped up Meela's storyline and destiny and set the stage for her sister Hauli to start her own journey. The book had an unexpected twist and a satisfying ending.
