So Far, So Good #4

So Not My Type

Rate this book
To Jackie Ryan, insults are foreplay and love is war. What the feisty redhead lacks in stature, she makes up in attitude. She's made more than one grown man cry and she's damn proud of it. Little does the rowdy barista know she's about to meet her match in the shape of a walking, talking pair of starched khakis. When unassuming Eddie Jaworski stumbles into a quirky coffee shop, he isn't expecting a battle of wits with the maniac behind the counter. Still, he can't help be intrigued by the endearingly irreverent human enigma. She's brash, but considerate. Closed off to most, but fiercely loyal to a few. Everything is a joke, except those things that are sacred. Jackie doesn't trust easily and if he wants to get close, he's going to have to work for every inch. Good thing he's up for the challenge. But Eddie has a secret--one he didn't mean to keep--that's going to tug at the delicate strings weaving the pair together. When everything begins to unravel, Jackie must decide just what she's willing to risk for love.

I truly love Kingston's writing style. I enjoyed the previous books in the series immensely, and the premise of this one sounded really good, but the heroine grated on my nerves right from the beginning and it didn't change till the end. I found her attitude simply too much for my liking. I can stand only so much rudeness or arrogance, even if it's presented as sass and even knowing it was her façade to protect herself. But I really loved Eddie, the hero, and practically all secondary characters too, so there go my three stars...

I feel so bad 2 starring, but I'd feel worse if I encouraged someone else to read it.

Jackie is absolutely horrific. She's an anti hero(ine) in an unenjoyable way. Let me break it down.

Jackie is 25-29 (for a while I thought she was 19 or 20 max, until she describes herself as nearly 30)
Jackie dropped out of college to start her own graphic design company, and quit that just as fast (it's described like it's recent not a decade ago, which is why I thought she was so much younger..and also how she acts but more on that later)
Jackie lives rent free with her grandfather
Jackie works as a barista in her grandfather's coffee shop, where she is perpetually late, rude to customers, and proudly makes terrible coffee (so ruining her grandfather's small business)
Jackie is rude to EVERYONE(even friends, who convince themselves she doesn't mean it), is extremely judgmental, but freaks the hell out if someone says the slightest thing to her. Loves to dish it out, can't take anything back
Jackie hates her mother, who's crime is trying to help with her daughter's self described dreams. Her mom is described as overbearing/a bit much/naggy- but not actually written that way. Just a mom trying to help a kid do what the kid wants to do

End result: Jackie is a parasite, tries nothing. Values and respects nothing. A toddler in an adult body. She tantrums and breaks things not once, but twice. Once while she's "at work" and throws full coffee pots and mugs in the middle of the day- because her game is ending

There's an attempt to have her redeeming quality(the ol' have the villain save a kitten) be her 'big heart' where she's willing to be mean to someone for her friend... but... she's already mean to everyone so. She's an asshole, willing to be an asshole for any reason? And she shuts out her "friends" at the slightest (true) offhand comment.

Such. A. Winner.

Now Eddie, reclusive successful author, been burned by his family over money, and inexplicably set on being Jackie's punching bag. He's considerate, snarky, and amazing in bed. He's written to be Jackie's perfect man, not much more.

This is the first time I've wanted a couple to break up and have a long time apart. Mainly so Jackie could grow the fuck up. They do break up. But Jackie remains the self centered little brat she started as, just with a new excuse to tantrum. And a new person to enable her.

How she paints herself as victim is as unsurprising as it is disappointing. Why didn't a millionaire author reveal to a woman he barely knows who keeps pushing him away, that he's her fav author? Uhm. How about because he's not a moron? But being understanding is not a quality toddlers have so, can't expect it from Jackie.

Love Kingston's writing. Can't stand this particular character.

If this had ended with Jackie being hit by a bus, and the next book was Eddie finding real love, I probably would have clapped.

I was definitely pulled into the story right from the beginning. I think it is because I remembered and enjoyed Jackie from the first book, So That Got Weird. I loved her sarcasm even when it was maybe a bit much, I totally got that part and how she dealt with it. To be honest, when I read about Jackie in the first book, I pictured her a little differently. So getting a book about her really was fun to get to know her more than just as Elizabeth’s gaming friend. And we got some time with Elizabeth and Austin from the first book as well, which may be another reason why I liked this one so much. I am going to say that I probably liked this one as much as I loved the first book in this series.

And I loved Eddie too, it wasn’t just Jackie who made the story. Even though we pretty much know his secret without being told explicitly who he was, I kind of feel like Jackie totally overreacted when she found out. I get being a little upset. But I mean, come on, I’d have been much more excited about it than mad. He was able to give Jackie her snarkiness right back and I loved that!

Once again the epilogue was perfect. Just enough without going too far into the future, but also far enough that I was eager for knowing how things were going.

This is the fourth book in this awesome series. I was so excited when this book showed up in my email. I dove right in and read it in one sitting. This is Jackie’s story. We met her in book 1 as she is Elizabeth’s best friend. So Not My Type was fun, quirky and absolutely fantastic.

Jackie dropped out of college and now works at her grandfather’s coffee shop. Her dream is to become a graphic artist but her biggest obstacle is herself. She has dreamed of having her work on the cover of her favorite author’s book. Every year there is a contest and every year she backs out and does not send in her work. She is not the friendliest person, even as she is taking orders and serving coffee. But that does not stop Eddie from coming back. He walks into the coffee shop one day and despite the attitude he finds himself coming back each day. There is something about Jackie, aside from the fact that she is beautiful!! She has brick wall protecting her heart and Eddie is determined to break it down piece by piece. Not an easy task at all but he is not giving up. He manages to break down her walls, but when she finally lets him in, he reveals the secret that he has been keeping. How quickly will those walls go back up after that?

The banter between the two of them is everything. The fact that he is preppy and so far from her type is what makes this book so much fun. His wardrobe may include one too many pairs of khakis, but he is in no way the nerd one would believe him to be. He matches her banter every time. She is quirky and fun and has the best one liners. But Eddie has the ability to throw it right back at her. And aside from being charming, cute and a good guy, Eddie is sexy in a way that you never expected!!! Neither did Jackie!

I loved this book just as much as the other three. This series is so much fun. You will love the chemistry between Jackie and Eddie. The way that he never gave up is what I loved about him. She pushed him away so many times, but he knew that there was something there. And Jackie was so loveable. She had her reasons for being guarded which we do see, and I also loved the moment where she starts to realize that maybe opening her heart is not a bad thing.

I am not sure if this is the end or if we will be getting one more characters book. I really hope that two people from this book will get a story, but we will have to wait and see. If you have not read this book or any others in the series, I highly recommend that you do!! They are all so good!!!

I was enjoying this SO MUCH in the beginning, but it really unraveled for me. I loved the opposites attract vibe and the chemistry between these two was absolutely sizzling. But somewhere along the way, our heroine's snarky banter just started to feel MEAN. And things did not improve after that. The first third was a very solid 5 stars, the middle was a decent 4 stars, and the ending dragged this down further.

The story follows Jackie, an unapologetically brash and loud woman. She's a great artist but insecure about her talent, so she spends her days manning the family coffee shop. When Eddie, a khakis-wearing, straight-laced guy starts frequenting the coffee shop, it's not love at first sight - for Jackie. Eddie is immediately taken by the wholly unique woman he meets, and he can't help but come back for more of her snark. Eddie slowly gets Jackie to lower her defenses, and it's not long before she's falling for his steady love. But Eddie is keeping a secret, and it's the kind that will change everything.

I LOVED the first book in this series and the second one was also very good, so I was excited to read this. And it started out so well. I loved Eddie throughout, despite his secrecy. I understood where he was coming from, and he made a really lovable hero. Jackie, well, Jackie was more difficult to love. That's all intentional, but at some point her blunt rejections started to get to me. She was not very nice to Eddie, and he didn't deserve that kind of treatment. I probably still would've considered a 4-star rating had things not spiraled so much in the aftermath of the Big Fight. It just extinguished any love I still had for Jackie, and there was no going back. This ended up being a pretty uneven read for me, but the beginning sparkled with such great banter and chemistry. I'm disappointed that I didn't love the rest.

Couldn’t Get to the Story Through the Snark
Amelia Kingston’s “So Not My Type” is true to its title for me, unfortunately. I really wanted to love the story, and the premise itself is quite good, but the acid tongue and almost manipulative way in which the heroine acts - even knowing it’s a facade to protect herself - is just too much. I just can’t get past how over-the-top mouthy she is. Don’t get me wrong: I love sass! But there’s sass, and then there’s snark. And just like in real life, I can only tolerate so much rudeness from one person before I decide I don’t need to have them sucking the joy out of it.

This is a fun and quirky read. A super entertaining opposites-attract romance with a lot of heart that made me laugh out loud, and I really enjoyed it!

Jackie is the hilariously irreverent best friend of Elizabeth from the amazing first book in this series So, That Got Weird. It’s a fun tie-in, but this book can absolutely stand alone.

Jackie is a unique character. She’s angry and snarky, and though she has dreams of something more, she’s stuck in a rut working in her grandfather’s coffee shop, reading her favourite sci-fi books and online gaming at night, and she is too scared to take a leap to get out of it. She covers all of that up with insults and attitude, and she is so freaking funny!

He’s still trying to get on my good side. I promise I have one. It’s just reserved for a very select group of truly amazing people. The rest of the world can fuck right off.

On the surface, Eddie is everything that Jackie is not. He’s quiet and seems straight-laced, but when he walks into Jackie’ store and cops her attitude, he flings it right back at her. And when he keeps coming back to hang out and work at her shop, we get some fantastically fun back-and-forth, setting up a deliciously flirtatious dynamic that I could not get enough of.

“You dress like Old Navy threw up,” she purrs.
“And you, Jackie Ryan, dress like a colorblind five-year-old.”

“You’re vanilla pudding, and I’m devil’s food cake. You’re a glass of rosé, and I’m whiskey neat. You’re the Gap, and I’m a vintage thrift shop. You’re missionary, and I’m kink. You’re easy listening, and I’m punk rock.”
“That it? That all?” He winks. This fucker actually
winks at me.

I quip over my shoulder, “Darlin’, I’d destroy you.”
“And I’d enjoy every second of it,” he adds without missing a beat.

Their banter is quick, and their attraction grows with each and every encounter, and quite unexpectedly, they find that all of that passion transfers quite easily to the bedroom. Their hook-ups are seriously hot, and the more they get to know each other and open up to each other, they slowly, naturally and easily fall into a relationship that neither of them ever saw coming.

I’ve never been so fascinated with another human being. I want to crawl inside her mind and know every inch of her. Her pain. Her pleasure. Her dreams. Her fears. The good, bad and indifferent. I want it all.

Eddie is all in, but Jackie has huge walls around her heart. She’s a complex character, but even she can’t resist the chemistry between them, and I loved watching them fall for each other.

Eddie Jaworski came into my life as a passing amusement. Then I used him as a much-needed distraction. Now he has dug his way into my heart and set up camp. I don’t know how to chase him out. What’s worse, I don’t know if I even want to.

But Eddie has a secret. It’s one that the reader is aware of from the very beginning, but the longer their relationship goes on, the harder it is for Eddie to share it with Jackie. When all is revealed, it brings heartbreak and conflict, forcing them both to face some hard truths, and some long-overdue soul searching.

I really enjoyed this book. The banter and chemistry are fantastic, I loved Jackie and Eddie as characters, and the constant snark and teasing between them is so entertaining. Their romance develops beautifully, and I loved seeing them fall for each other. I thought the conflict was a bit excessive – not the actual conflict, but Jackie’s reaction to it. It’s extreme, and goes on for way longer than I wanted, and I got so annoyed with her. For me, it really brought down the mood of the book, which was disappointing, but it all works out, and paves the way for an epically swoony ending that left me very satisfied.

Definitely a fun read, but I would have preferred less drama. 3.5 stars.

I liked the premise: Jackie is a grumpy exterior with a gooey center, Eddie is a button down good guy who is the polar opposite of Jackie's shall we say eccentric style. Where it fell flat for me was mostly Jackie. She was just a little too aggressive, abrasive and over the top for my tastes. She kept totally dissing on Eddie, saying he couldn't handle her, when in reality she couldn't handle herself. She was having a hard time with life after college because her original plans fell through. But she let it stunt her- she couldn't even be bothered to change a light bulb and if her loving, supportive friend/family circle pointed out anything she didn't want to deal with then they got the silent treatment or she gave them some of her gruff exterior. Then she gives her number to some guy she isn't really interested in just to make Eddie jealous? She was too all over the place for me. She was too much of a hot mess without having a really good reason to be a hot mess. And none of this made me want Eddie and her to get together. But her unpredictability made her predictable, right to the end. Eddie was just like she said, vanilla. We aren't really given any reason to think he isn't boring aside from the secret he is keeping. The side characters were so much better and made the story for me. I want a friend like JC in my life! Thanks to Booksprout and Amelia Kingston for giving me the chance to read it.

Listen for a lighthearted quick read this was good. Didn’t knock my socks off no. Didn’t knock me on my ass no. But it was a good read. I really did like Eddie, I feel like there was so much more to him that we didn’t learn about that maybe should’ve been addressed. I’d like Jackie extent. But she just rubbed me the wrong way throughout the story and I just couldn’t get into it because she got on my nerves so badly and I don’t know what it was about her but she just did. I think that Jackie and Eddie are a great couple, absolutely! I really did like their banter back-and-forth. But it was just a good story. And the spice was OK.

Great Story . . .

Jackie Ryan is a barista who projects attitude. She had dreams once of starting a graphic design business two years previously, but she pushed those dreams aside, fearing the rejection of the ‘heart and soul’ she poured into her creations. She instead chose the safe path of helping her grandfather at the coffee shop, reading sci-fi books, and playing online games with her best friend. Just the previous night, Elizabeth reminded her the deadline for sending in her cover design to her favorite author is just about over. This is the author’s last book of this series and the contest would be a real honor if she wins. Yet each year when the next contest opened, she finds a way to procrastinate and not risk rejection by her favorite author. Once again, she has dreams and talent, but she prevents herself from reaching out to claim them.

Eddie Jaworski seems like the quiet type as he entered the coffee shop one day. Yet when Jackie hurls her snark and sarcasm at him, he fires back at her with his own witty banter to take her by surprise. They intrigue each other. The best thing about Eddie is that he will never give up on her. He sees something special and won’t let her push him away. When he finally gets her to lower her defenses and let him in, a secret he has been keeping will turn everything around. Are they finished before they really have a chance to explore their relationship?

This was a really good story line that holds the reader’s attention. The dialog between the two characters is fun and witty, although Jackie’s poison tongue strikes out a bit too often. Grab your copy and see if Eddie can find an impressive way to win back Jackie’s love. Or whether he will have to walk away in defeat.

*audiobook* I apparently read this series completely out of order by jumping from book one to book 4, but I don't think anything was spoiled because it was clearly centered on the two main characters and had a couple jump ins from Elizabeth and Austin from book 1. A cute story of opposites attract with some snarky banter between the couple. I think it could have been fleshed out a little bit better than it was, but decent overall.

The sass is strong with this one. Seriously. Jackie is a force to be reckoned with at times. At times, she can be a bit much with the attitude and I didn’t like her at first. I kept reading and began to understand her more and realized it’s a coping mechanism for her. She has been badly hurt in her life and it shows. She also doesn’t get along with her mother and that’s an interesting plot point that I COMPLETELY understood. Trust me, I still have issues with mine, so I get it. Pops is a hoot but he too has shaped Jackie into what she is today.

Eddie is hilarious. Khakis. That’s Jackie’s nickname for him. His nickname for her is, Ignis. Look it up. Fit her perfectly, too. Eddie isn’t scared of Jackie. He stands up to her. Challenges her, makes her better. The above excerpt is only the beginning for them. Ms. Kingston knows how to write sassy, snarky dialogue and this book has it in spades. I loved it but keep in mind, this isn’t a sweet romance. Much cussing, smexy times but it all makes sense. Two polar opposites that can’t get enough of each other.

The big secret makes so much sense and I loved how Ms. Kingston weaves it into their relationship. Not to mention Eddie’s agent and Ben are there to help or not help with their relationship. Jesus is too good to be true, too. I kept picturing him as the maid from the movie, The Birdcage. That’s a compliment. I loved that movie. He keeps it real in the coffee shop and at times Jackie’s sounding board.

I just loved this book. As I said, it took a while for me to warm up to Jackie but when I did, I literally couldn’t put the book down. Lots of laughs but also some very emotional, heartfelt moments, too. Ms. Kingston does a great job of balancing everything out. There is groveling, things thrown and tears between Eddie and Jackie but in the end, it is SO worth it.

I haven’t read the others in the series so this one can be read without wondering what is going on. I can’t wait to read more from Ms. Kingston. With the snarky, sassy heroine like Jackie…I can’t wait to meet her other characters.

DNF. I hate Jackie.

Theres nothing likable about a character throwing shit around because shit doesnt go her way. She's mean, violent, and acts like a fucking toddler throwing tantrums.
She thinks herself as this "badass" but throws a literal tantrum in her grandfathers coffee shop because her game was gonna go down (like throw shit around type of tantrum). Tough shit loser, shit happens but that doesnt mean you get to take it out on everyone else.

Still, I gave it a chance and pushed through thinking this might just be like a character development thing but fuck me for continuing because SHE DOES IT AGAIN. This time she hurls books and destroys Eddie's work for not telling her he was her favorite author. No shit bro. After treating Eddie like shit when you met him, why would he fucking tell you??Mans was constantly scared for his life because of her violent tendencies and fuck me thats not a kind of a relationship i want to be in. Jackie deserves a restraining order not a hot, kind, successful, great in bed, and literal man of her dreams.

She says she's a "strong independent woman" but fuck off. Shes just a fucking toddler in disguise blaming everyone else for her failures in life. Boohoo grow the fuck up.

I like her better as Elizabeths best friend.

I feel fucking bad for Eddie. Please Eddie find someone better.

An entertaining opposites-attract enjoyable romance that at times made me laugh out loud. Jackie and Eddie could not be any more different. The only thing they share in common is that they both are extremely talented in their own fields and are both highly intelligent characters. I think I can say without a doubt, that Jackie’s is the rudest, the most theatrical, irreverent to-say-the-least character I have ever encountered in a book. She’s angry, sarcastic, coarse, ungrateful, discourteous to name a few of her off-the-cuff talents. Although she has dreams of being a graphic artist, she’s stuck in a rut working in her grandfather’s cafe as a barista. She had a difficult childhood with a broken home and a critical mother that leaves her with major self-esteem issues. Her habit of turning away from anything challenging for fear of failure is not only costing her opportunities but making her miserable at the same time. Yet she loves some people and is loyal to them. Into her life walks unsuspecting Eddie, (Edwin Jaworski ), a calm, responsible, withdrawn professional wearing khaki trousers. He is the author of Jackie’s favourite series, her idol but since Eddie writes under a pen name, hardly anyone knows of his true identity. He is intrigued by the beautiful, yet flippant and snarky girl and over the course of a few weeks, they develop a kind of truce. There is witty, occasionally laugh-out-loud banter between Eddie and Jackie, which makes their dialogue exchanges hilarious and enjoyable. The author had developed their characters and those of the supporting players of this novel very well and kept the tension points coming. Some of Jackie’s reactions I found to be OTT and her incredible rudeness devoid of any filter uncalled for. As a result, the protagonists certainly kept each other on their toes. I loved how Eddie was supportive of her dreams and tried to push and encourage Jackie to try to let her art fly. Her soft side does at times comes through, mostly due to the off-the-charts chemistry and the budding sentiments that are gradually becoming apparent. Trying to help someone who has her finger on the self-destruct button is extremely dangerous and leaves Eddie totally desperate, realising that he had lost his Ignis, by not telling her who he was. Poor Eddie is in the doghouse, with his publisher, publicist, and most definitely Jackie. Fortunately, Eddie is too smitten to give up, even though at times he feels his life, but the very least, his gonads might be in serious danger. Many men could learn a thing or two from Eddie, about how to apologise. He doesn’t do it with flowers and fattening chocolates. No! He writes a book for and about her, opening his heart and soul. Wow!! Yes, there is a HEA, along with success for both. I like Amelia Kingston’s style of writing her easy, natural wit and likeable characters and settings. Her page-turning light-hearted novels are well worth reading.

“Does running out of fucks count as cardio?”

Jackie Ryan is a handful! I’ve been waiting to read all about Miss Ryan’s story ever since I read the first book in this series. And I’ve to say she hasn’t disappointed me one bit.

These is the 4 book in the “So Far, So Good” series by Amelia Kingston. It can be read as a complete standalone, tho characters from the first book do make a small appearance.

“Your garnish is grounds for an assault charge on my taste buds. I’ve never had to chew my coffee before.”

Jackie Ryan is loud, bold and a lot to deal with. From her flaming hot hair, to her foul mouth, to the way she accepts no fucks from ANYONE. There isn’t many man in this world that would venture courting our heroine. She knows it, she doesn’t care.

Jackie is who she is, but behind her strong character and flamboyant personality there’s a girl that has trust issues... in herself and on others.

“Darlin’, I’d destroy you.”
“And I’d enjoy every second of it,” he adds without missing a beat.”

Eddie Jaworski is the polar oportunidade of Jackie. He wears Khakis and button-down shirts on a daily basis. His life is beige, organized and peaceful.
Eddie thrives on blending in... I’m mean with his job, who could blame him, right?
But all that perfectly constructed world starts crumbling down when he sees Jackie. The woman has is interest the second he lays eyes on her.

“That’s the second time today I’ve been referred to as a dog. I’m beginning to take offense.”
“If the analogy fits…”

I loved the book.
Jackie really was a complex character. She had layers, that I wasn’t expecting... and she was damaged in ways that weren’t apparent. Makes you think, that we really don’t know a persons demons until they show them to us.

“You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me,” I groan. JC giggles behind me.
Khakis freezes in the doorway and stares at us, a confused look on his pink, weather-beaten face.
“What?” he asks, completely oblivious.
“Oh nothing. Red just owes me her left tit,” JC deadpans.”

Also loved the side characters. JC, Pops, and Benji, really made the story what it is. I’m not really into MM romance, but I kind of want to know what happens to Jc and Benji. They’re too cute!

I took my time these last few days to read the entire series. You really don’t have to, but if you can, give it a try.
I’m in love with Amelia writing style. I love her humor, I love how she makes her characters complex and reliable, despite her books being more on the romantic comedy side.

What a fun and stimulating opposites attract trope with a sexy, ball-busting female and a reclusive and straight-laced male.

Jackie Ryan is a barista in her grandfather’s coffee shop and a badass gamer with a chip on her shoulder. She has a degree in graphic design, but her self-confidence is nil after being rejected too many times. Not one for good customer service, it’s a wonder the coffee shop keeps customers. Enter Eddie Jaworski, a writer and an instant fan of his new feisty and sexy muse. It’s an uphill battle, but Jackie lets him in while convincing her to enter the graphic design contest for the cover of her favorite writer. If only he had told her his secret much sooner.

I love a strong female protagonist and Jackie hits it out of the park. Her brutal sarcasm and in-your-face attitude take a little getting used to, but when her layers are peeled back her insecurities show through, and understanding dawns. Her initial reaction to Eddie is to brush him off as a “so not my type”, but when he gives back as much as he gets, her interest is peaked and hot sex entails. Though that’s all she wants at first, Eddie’s kindness and endless persistence catch her unaware and she’s a goner. Eddie’s “awkward discomfort” is endearing and he has a death wish pursuing the volatile Jackie, but I had no doubts he would succeed with his charm and wit. Not to mention his other steamy talents. Yes, he makes a mistake not telling Jackie his big secret, but he does the best groveling I’ve seen in the most romantic way. I definitely shed a tear or two.

The supporting characters are a hoot in this story. Pops, Jackie’s quirky and loveable grandfather, gives her amazing and hard-hitting advice. Jackie’s friend, J.C. is hilarious and supportive. And Benji, Eddie’s capricious friend, works hard to get Eddie out in the world. My favorite and funniest scene is the drag show amateur night. Way to go, boys!

This is my first Amelia Kingston novel and though it is book 4 it works well as a standalone. If you enjoy books that make you laugh, cry, and cheer for an incredibly odd couple who deserve each other, give this book a try.

Thank you to Ms. Kingston for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectations of a positive review.

It's review time 🎧
Blurb 📜:

An endearingly irreverent love story.

To Jackie Ryan, insults are foreplay and love is war. What the feisty redhead lacks in stature, she makes up in attitude. She’s made more than one grown man cry and she’s damn proud of it. Little does the rowdy barista know she’s about to meet her match in the shape of a walking, talking pair of starched khakis.

When unassuming Eddie Jaworski stumbles into a quirky coffee shop, he isn’t expecting a battle of wits with the maniac behind the counter. Still, he can’t help be intrigued by the endearingly irreverent human enigma. She’s brash, but considerate. Closed off to most, but fiercely loyal to a few. Everything is a joke, except those things that are sacred. Jackie doesn’t trust easily and if he wants to get close, he’s going to have to work for every inch. Good thing he’s up for the challenge.

But Eddie has a secret—one he didn’t mean to keep—that’s going to tug at the delicate strings weaving the pair together. When everything begins to unravel, Jackie must decide just what she’s willing to risk for love

Warning ⚠️: comedy, geek, an author? Cute romance.

Narrator score🎧 ; the narrators were both great I loved them both. The sass was very well preformed.

Level of steam🔥: the book was hot and cute and sweet.

Level of anxiety and sadness 😱😢: ir was a book sweet as sugar. It was light and funny and cute as hell.

The book itself📖: a very sweet and simple book. I loved it. It was great I just enjoyed everything about this book. It was so adorable.

This was a hilarious opposites attract romantic comedy.

Jackie Ryan is all bluster. She looks and acts like she will not take anyone's stuff, but underneath, way, way underneath is a person who loves deeply and will help the people she loves hide the bodies. She aspires to be a graphic artist but is her own worst enemy by being a total perfectionist. She has wanted to enter the cover contest for E.B. Jericho's latest book for years but keeps chickening out until it is too late to submit an entry. She works as a barista in her grandfather's coffee shop.

Eddie Jaworski/E.B. Jericho goes to the coffee shop at the urging of his best friend and editor Benji. Once there he is captivated by the fiesty , brash red head. When he learns she created the wall mural featuring his book he is a goner for her. Even though she keeps insulting him and pushing him away, Eddie persists. Once they kiss she changed her tune and decides to use him as a stress relief buddy. They fall in love, have a major argument that causes a break up and get back together for their HEA.

I LOVED this book!
From the very first lines in this story, I pretty much loved Jackie! She was just so unapologetically herself. Not to mention her snarky wit, and foul mouth!
Then we have Eddie. I truly adored him and was rooting for him the whole time. Despite his unassuming appearance, which Jackie calls him on, there’s a depth to him. He gives as good as he gets. And Jackie may just have found her match. But will the secret he’s keeping keep them from finding their HEA?

One of my favorite quotes in this book, and their were many, comes from Jesus when he tells Jackie that the bantering between she and Eddie is basically foreplay. And he’s so spot on! Their back and forth was funny and at times ripe with sexual tension. It was heavenly!!!
Obviously I loved Jackie and Eddie, but I really enjoyed all the characters. Jesus and Pops were so likable. I loved the scene at Bonanza with Jackie, Eddie, Jesus, and Ben!
Eddie’s most dedication on a particular book had me near tears. It was so sweet and heartfelt!

Not gonna lie after the last book in this series, I almost chose not to read this one, and I’m so glad that I changed my mind. This book was hilarious from chapter 1 until the very end.

Jackie is full of sass and not looking for anything even remotely serious when Eddie comes into the coffee shop she’s working in. He sees the mural she painted on the wall and is stunned and intrigued. They start getting to know each other and come to find out, she’s a huge fan of an author who just so happens to be him. She has no idea That he’s in the person writing her favorite books.

You might think it would be happily ever after until she finds out that he hasn’t been 100% honest about who he is, and she begins to doubt her own self-worth in her ability to be a graphic designer because she thinks she only won her biggest achievement because of who he is. She later finds out. He actually refused himself and has nothing to do with the process so that she could own her success, knowing that he had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who wants a good read that’s short impact full of hilarious moments and witty humor

Well-written and entertaining, but I just wasn’t in the mood for so much snark and attitude, so I just didn’t vibe with Jackie or the romance. I liked Eddie, and there is some sweet moments. Jackie is Elizabeth’s (first book lead) gamer friend, Jackie is an artist, but works as a barista at her grandfather’s coffee place because she’s scared to reach for her dreams of being a full time graphic designer. She’s judgmental, rude, and a mess; she definitely shouldn’t be in the service industry. She’s a wild child type of person. I like sass, but she has too much attitude; I’m just not into snark extreme. Eddie comes into the coffee shop with his khaki pants and is instantly attracted to Jackie; he just needs to get past her snark and her acting like he’s not her type. Lots of back and forth snarky banter; I liked the bit of opposites attract scenario. There’s some cuteness there between them too, but I didn’t quite get why Eddie liked her so much. Overall, I liked the story, but I just wasn’t in the mood to deal with a lead character like Jackie.

Jackie is rowdy and irreverent. Eddie sets up in her coffee shop. He is conservative and her complete opposite....she thinks. The coffee is terrible and the service just as bad. Eddie is captivated by her. Jackie is intrigued enough not to run him off. Their foreplay is bantering and quip slinging. Jackie is running from her true artistic calling. When her other reason for being, an online game, is announced to be ending, Eddie snaps her out of her trance with a scorching kiss. Jackie is amazed at his skill in the bedroom. Eddie has been in love with her and he has slowly broken down her barriers. When he pushes her to finally enter a contest she has been avoiding for years, he has to convince her that he still cares after confessing his deep secret. There is so much emotion in this story. They push each other out of their comfort zones and have to work hard to get past old hurts to a HEA. You will really enjoy this read.

Jackie Ryan is a graphic designer who works as a barista at her grandfather’s coffee shop. She’s afraid of failing so she never started her own business as a graphic designer. She painted a mural in the coffee shop based on her favourite book by her favourite author, E. B. Jericho. Eddie Jaworski is pushed out of his comfort zone by his best friend, Benji. He’s told Eddie to get out of his apartment and go for coffee. Eddie ends up in the coffee shop where Jackie works. She’s sarcastically witty and Eddie loves it. Eddie wants to get to know the real Jackie, but she keeps herself hidden to begin with. I enjoyed Jackie’s wit. I loved Elizabeth, Jackie’s best friend. I also loved Jackie’s grandfather and her best friend, JC. Darla and Benji were great characters as well. Eddie is keeping a secret that he doesn’t want people to know. He’s afraid he could lose Jackie if she finds out. I highly recommend this book.

This book was amazing because of the banter between Eddie and Jackie. They were hilarious together and definitely kept each other on their toes when ever they were around each other. But I especially loved the way Eddie pushed Jackie in every way. He was supportive of her dreams (even at his own cost), her personality, and anything else she found herself in.

Jackie on the other hand was definitely more standoffish, but is soft inside. She was supportive of Eddie without knowing and had to overcome what she thought she wanted from life when her actual wishes starting coming true. Jackie had the most to figure out about life and love, because as Elizabeth said, her life is a mess. However, the best people have messy lives and that's okay, but Jackie still had to figure that out.

Jackie and Eddie toghter had passion that was off the charts and it was impossible for them or me to ignore in any scene they were in!

Finally it's Jackie's turn. Been waiting for her story and it didn't disappoint. Loved her sarcastic and dirty mouth back in book 1 of this series and impatiently waited for her return. Bringing Eddie into the mix was way better than I expected. The quick and hilarious back and forth between these two was great on it's own but add the sexy energy coming from both of them you know that when (yes, i said when) it happens it will be explosive - no vanilla here people.
Though their parents didn't offer much to the story her grandfather and his grandmother really brought some funny moments along with a few much needed 'slap-em upside the head' truth bombs.
Altogether a sexy and funny read that just proves not to judge a book by it's cover because what lies underneath might just be the best surprise ever.

This is the fourth book in the So Far, So Good series and a delightful way to end the series. Jackie Ryan is floundering. She quit college to pursue a carrier in graphic design, which didn’t pan out. She is now working in her grandfather’s coffee shop. She is miserable and the only things that give her hope is an online fantasy game and entering a contest to design the cover of her favorite author E. B. Jericho’s final book in his fantasy series. Edwin Jaworski walks into the coffee shop, and meets Jackie. They are complete opposites, he is khakis, she is piercings, yet he finds her captivating. I loved that it took time to build their relationship and that the romance was realistic. Overall, a delightful end to the series.
